After looking for days the best spot in the city to have Eggs Benedict, I finally came across to Elephant and Castle. We had brunch last Sunday and we left so happy and stuffed about the food and service. The only thing was the wait, the hostess told me that the wait was 10 – 15 mins, and we ended up waiting for an hour, just because everyone keeps talking after they actually paid. But I can’t blame anyone since my friends, and I came for brunch, and left when the dinner shift started lol In general, great great food and the menu is so diverse and good prices.

Definitely a wonderful experience all around! I enjoyed the intimacy and quality service most. I highly recommend you order the jasmine rice, even if it’s not a part of your dish… get it on the side. It’s delicious!

Wonderful wooden atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff. I ordered the Canyonland poached eggs with a side of home fries and they were both super delicious!

My partner and I headed here for brunch this last weekend. Here are some notes: — There is not waiting list; just get in line and a waiter/waitress will come out and ask for the next party. Expect a wait, this place is popular. — The place is small, a little cumbersome during winter with big jackets, etc. but they have hooks above the tables to hang things which is nice. — Try the Spanish latte, it comes in a bowl — great to share. — Food: — Eggs Benedict with Black Forest Ham and Potato Pancakes: delectable! The potato pancakes were the perfect mix between crunch and mushy. The ham was thick cut and the hollandaise sauce was perfect. The eggs were cooked well, a little hard but with plenty of runny yolk. — Scrambled Eggs with Chorizo, Queso Fresco, Guacamole, Homemade Salsas, Flour and Corn Tortillas: this was also delicious! My only complaint is there didn’t seem to be very much chorizo but the homemade guacamole made up for that for me. — The service was quick and friendly.

I went to Elephant & Castle on NYE with my girlfriend and ordered the BLT with Fried Egg. My girlfriend ordered the Smoked Salmon on Toasted Seven Grain Bread. The restaurant was mostly full, but it wasn’t so crowded that we had to wait at all to get seated. Most of the nearby tables had already been served when we got there, and many were just finishing drinks and paying the check. There’s no reason why the kitchen should have been busy. Despite this, our food took over 45 minutes to come out after we ordered. After thirty minutes, I asked the server if our food was coming, and he assured us it would just be a few more minutes. Ten minutes later, my sandwich came out, but they brought out the wrong order for my girlfriend. After another ten minutes of waiting(while my sandwich was getting cold), my girlfriend’s correct order finally arrived. I still don’t understand how it took so long to make two sandwiches in a restaurant that didn’t even appear to be very busy. I almost got up and left on several occasions, but stayed because I thought the food had to be almost ready. On the bright side, the food itself was good, although not amazing.

One of the best burgers I’ve had. Very fresh, juicy and tender. Fries good too. Service was quick and courteous. Only drawback was the tables are a little tight. No bar area that I saw.

Googled«Brunch in West Village» and found this spot! Food: the spinach purée is not appealing visually but tasted fine– seasoned with pepper, potato pancake could have been a bit crispier(was about 2 cm thick), poached eggs were great Value: $ 12.50 for a very filling meal & they start you off with bread(strawberry jam on the table), very reasonable for brunch in West Village and NYC in general Service: went at 1PM on a Saturday, seated in 10 minutes for 2 people, waiters did their job well and were nice but nothing exceptional Ambiance: small, a bit crowded, but loved the elephant décor Location: 2 – 3 minute walk from the 14th Street 123 station, easy to spot with the black and white awning

Food and service were very good. Burgers were delicious. Table next to ours had the chicken schnitzel and it looked delicious. We definitely will try that on our next visit.

I stumbled on this place randomly in the West Village and was pleasantly surprised. The entrees were warm and comforting. I had the grilled chicken with thai basil vinaigrette and eggplant. There were many other delicious-sounding things on the menu and I would come back to try another dish. FINALRATING: 4

I came here to have breakfast/brunch 5 years ago and came back in February. Nothing has changed, still as pretty as ever. What a lovely restaurant, warm, cozy and charming little breakfast gem. This time I had the eggs benedict on a waffle which was delightful! Seated at the Sigmund Freud table, lovely! Same exact place than 5 years ago. We had to wait before getting seated, but even in the bitterly freezing, damp winter cold, it was worth it. The warmth and charm of this place made me forget the extreme bitter cold of winter in New York City.

Excellent burgers with succulent meat. I loved the summer salad with avocado and beets, arugula, and sunflower seeds, with its lemon dressing. The toasted seeds and the lemon dressing made the pairing of the burgers feel perfect. Went there with an old friend who said this is a New York staple. The décor, service, and most importantly, the food, definitely were very exciting to encounter. I highly recommend, if you’re looking for a reprieve from the flashiness of NY establishments!

Delicious burger and great fries! Came here for breakfast to catch up with some old college buddies, and was pleasantly surprised. I had the iced coffee, which was a bit bitter, but other than that, it was all great. Our server was quick and attentive, and didn’t rush us out once we were done either. Highly recommended.

So upset with this place. What I’m most upset about is their credit card policy! 2 credit cards MAX per table. We had a table of 6 and could only use 2 credit cards. That made all of us extremely upset. Not happy! The food was okay, not worth $ 14 for a burger plus $ 5 for a side of fries! Never coming back again!!!

I’ve been coming to the“elephant’ as we call it for over 20 years! The food is always delicious and is what I would call«restaurant quality homemade». So hard to choose. great burgers, omelettes, salads and sandwiches. My fave entrée is the chicken schnitzel… which is two crispy and buttery breaded chicken cutlets topped with sliced cherry tomatoes and fresh basil. its literally amazing! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu or the specials. Although they serve beer and wine, you can also BYOB for a corkage fee. All of the severs are friendly and very nice! It’s been a long and continuous love affair with this place. l Love the ELEPHANT!

The BEST brunch place for me so far. Small & cozy place with AMAZING food. My friend and I even forgot to use the condiments that we requested on the side. We went around 2pm on a Sunday & it was easier to get a table w/o waiting in inline. I will definitely go back to try other items on the menu. Recommendations: Eggs & Apples French Toast, Spinach Purée with Poached Eggs & Potato Pancakes, Freshly Squeezed OJ

Admittedly, the food was very good. The bacon in particular tasted borderline heavenly. The downside is that it is rather expensive; for example, a glass of «large» orange juice is $ 5.25, which to me is a ridiculous price for a normal sized glass of orange juice. Overall, the price of breakfast for two people was $ 32, which again while very good, left both of us feeling hungry. The locale is cute for a breakfast date, sure, but don’t expect to be filled unless you’re willing to spend big on what amounts to bacon, eggs and home fries.

I enjoy everything about this place! Small, cozy, friendly and attentive staff, and satisfying brunch. Bottomless coffee is always a good thing. Portions are perfect for me. Not too much so you don’t feel like a pig early in the day and not too little so you don’t feel ripped off. The potato pancakes are really good. Seasoned well and complements poached egg dishes. I always absorb the liquid yolk with my semi-crisp potato pancakes. My favorite brunch item is the Eggs’n Apples Benedict on French toast with bacon. My second favorite is Eggs Benedict with Black Forest ham and potato pancakes. Then the Tasmanian At Anchor eggs. This place is packed from 12pm to 2pm on the weekends.

The Eggs Benedict Over Apple French Toast(+ Bacon, obviously) was so delicious. Perfect mix of savory and sweet, and very filling. Had a bite of my friend’s Guac Burger which was also very tasty. We had to wait awhile for a table during Sunday brunch, but the manager was so kind and accommodating. Can’t wait to check out their other meals!

Went here for breakfast after someone recommended it to me and after reading some reviews I was glad I did. Breakfast was delicious. Arrived early on a Sunday morning and got seated right away… the front section of the restaurant was completely full. We got the last table in the front of the restaurant, right next to the window and I’m not going to lie… It was pretty tight and cramped. I ordered the eggs, avocado, and salsa w/tortillas($ 12). It looked and tasted delicious The salsa was very fresh, the guacamole was a generous portion and eggs were good. It all mixed well inside the tortillas. I got fresh squeezed OJ and a side of sausage. My friend ordered the french toast eggs Benedict, which was a unique and tasty dish. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area that wants a delicious breakfast!
