Duane Reade

My biggest gripe about this store location is that you have to get past the barricade of vendors outside the store scamming tourists with tickets to the Empire State Building, and when it gets cold, a lot of them work from inside this Duane Reade. I complained to the store managers numerous times about having the street vendors working inside the store selling Empire State Building tickets but they don’t seem to care.

Ich mag Duane Reade sehr und finde das diese Marke den gleichen Stellenwert hat, wie Budnikowski für Hamburg.
Diese gibt es auch nur in NYC und keiner kennt sie ausserhalb dieser Grenzen. Trotzdem ist sie aber so gut sortiert, das du nicht vermisst und alles findest.
Von Kosmetik, Medikamenten, bis Soft-​Drinks findet sich hier alles.
Dieser Store befindet sich genau gegenüber dem Empire State Building und hat 24 Stunden geöffnet.
Auf zwei Etagen erstreckt sich die Fläche, wobei die Sachen für den tägliche Bedarf im Erdgeschoss zu finden sind und alles anderen Dinge im ersten Stock.
Die gekühlte Getränkeauswahl ist wirklich gut und groß. Von diversen Biersorten bis Soft-​Drinks ist alles vertreten. Sogar Smoothies und Milch ist dabei.
An der Kasse geht es oft sehr Wortkarg daher, was aber auch nicht schlimm ist, da man ja eh nur schnell etwas mitnehmen möchte und wieder weg ist.
Dieser Duane Reade lohnt sich auf alle Fälle für einen Besuch, da der Bedarf für einen Touri mehr als gedeckt wird! :-)

These guys helped me with an out of town prescription. They were closing down the pharmacy when I walked in but we’re kind enough to re-​open just for me. Thanks for getting me my mess.

It’s 2am, and you have cravings for M&Ms and Snapple, fear not, Duane Reade is open.
This pharmacy/​drug store is like a bigger better version of Boots in the UK. There’s a great selection of… Well, everything.

Probably the best drugstore I’ve been to ever. The pharmacy staff are incredible – they’re diligent, to-​the-​point, and a pleasure to work with.
This store is gigantic! Their seasonal candy selection is A++, great makeup aisle, and the staff is really helpful. It’s my go-​to DR hands down.

Bad customer service! Never understand the policy of no restrooms for paying customers, that’s paying customers! And the staff us rude, treat everyone like an annoying tourist. I’m sorry I bothered you with your minimal wage job.
I’ll never shop here again. CVS and Walgreen are much better

I went into DR to purchase two cards. A baby shower card and a Passover card.
I found over seven areas for Easter cards and no Passover cards. I asked the
woman on that second floor where the Passover cards were. She said, pass
over like died… I said no, Passover the holiday. She looked at me as though I
had a sickness but said she’d look. Sorry, nothing like that. I went to the
manager and she said American (I forgot, the card company) didn’t bring
any. She’d talk to them.
I wrote to them and got a letter back from the store saying they were contacted
about the cards called pass over (!) and she would call the vendor and try to get
some.
Is this anti semitic or do you think I am over reacting? Also, Barnes and Noble
was on the next block so I went there. They had a huge supply of Easter
cards and FIVE Passover cards.
What am I missing?

We were shorted on a prescription, and the pharmacy both denied any wrong-​doing and did not offer to rectify the situation, so this review is getting bumped down to one star. Please stop stealing scheduled prescriptions that do not belong to you, folks! Your customers and patients are not stupid, and we’ve been way TOO «patient» with you.

Across the street from my office — clean, organized, good service. I’m reviewing it because the pharmacy staff have always been very helpful. There have been times when I found myself thanking them profusely, just because, well, sometimes getting prescriptions is a huge pain in the ass, and they seem to realize that and help you out.

Whatever you picture of getting at a drugstore you can find here. This particular location has two floors and a wide selection of products. They even have pre-​packaged sandwiches, salads, and snacks if you want to grab a bite on the go.

The New York version of WalGreens. This place is set up for high volume. The staff were all pleasant and it was located near the hotel.

This is a huge location (they have multiple floors).
The selection is very extensive and they have a lot of pre-​packaged foods here as well.
No matter what time of the day I come, the lines are not too big. Even when there is a line, it moves really quickly. The cashiers here are super efficient and you are in and out pretty quickly.
I’ve never had a bad experience here. I give it an «As good as it gets!» in terms of any other Duane Reade’s I’ve been to.

This 2-​story behemoth of a DR sits across from the Graduate Center @ CUNY, with the top floor peddling an Rx & beauty products, and the bottom being home to some snappy but efficient employees.

It’s huge! I like that they have sandwiches and fruit now. Pretty convenient!

Despite my dislike for Duane Reade, I had a decent experience this time. The cashiers were friendly and chatty. A very first.
Maybe change is here? Yeah… right.

Its big, its spacious, its well lit. They placed all the worktime snacks near the entrance so you can grab some goodies for the rough day ahead.
Now for my personal items, its a little harder to get to. They need to build a Duane Reade where they place the rubber gloves, plungers, vaseline, and plastic tablecloth all in 1 aisle.

4 stars for the newly renovated store complete with a photo machines where you can stick in your memory card and choose pictures to make and purchase prints, calendars, cards, etc. But not 5 stars as Duane Reade private label products aren’t any cheaper than their brand name counterparts.

Oh! It reminds me of the Enterprise in the newest Star Trek movie! So shiny, so bright and with lens flares.

Five minutes after leaving another Duane Reade (see my previous review), I found a much better Duane. It was filled with plenty of the goods I needed (no not beer) and had a few friendly people on their staff. I found my much needed ear buds for my ipod. I get it and leave the store… outside I am struggling like a boob to get this item out of the stupid plastic casing.
Finally with nothing sharp on me (except my wit… kidding) I walked back in and ask behind the counter if they could cut it open. They were nice about it and even took my garbage and chucked it for me. Nice people. I throw on the ear buds and they were great (they don’t get credit for that, Philips does).
Sadly these amazing ear buds lasted a total of 9 hours. They were shred to pieces by my kitten. That son of a bitch is lucky that it is so cute. I will be back today to buy another pair.
