Nothing special in my opinion. My coworkers, on the other hand, love this place. I guess it’s just up to your own personal preference.

Came while visiting NYC. Took the subway here on my way to SOHO. This wasn’t as good as I thought at all. Overpriced, decent food(couldn’t finish my food), and no fountain drinks. Reminds me of Qdoba. Doesn’t stand close to chipotle and I will not be coming back here ever.

I had the steak quesadilla(so they would toast the tortilla) with steak, lettuce, pico, sour cream and their hottest sauce available. OMG — AMAZING!!! The steak is so tasty and their hot sauce is on point! I am a HUGE hot sauce fan and this one is amazing and much better, more authentic then what you get at Chipotle. I actually have a similar hot sauce that I got from Mexico last year that I have been milking until I go back this summer :) I will be going back! I inhaled it so quickly, didn’t even have a chance to take a pic, LOL

Haven’t had Dos Toros since the Unilocal event hosted at this particular location 2 years ago! Stopped by for a basic quesadilla loaded with grilled veggies, corns, salsa, beans, and cheese. The best part was definitely slices of melted cheese folded within the tortilla. However I thought the veggies were oversalted and really watery. It soaked right through the tortilla within minutes of finding a seat. After returning I was reminded why I haven’t been back — the personalised options were just too limited(no brown rice, no white corns, or whole wheat tortilla). Taste and price — just okay. A nice alternative if I am in the area but I think I would walk a few extra blocks for my burrito, quesadilla fix.

The guy hooked me up with the beans. He let me have some of both the pinto and black beans. All the toppings are included except guac, I think. Dos Toros has a different flavor profile than Chipotle. The fact that they use Mexican rice already makes it taste more rustic and authentic. The ingredients also taste more smokey and roasted, which I like. Try the extra spicy habanero hot sauce! I never feel like anything is spicy enough — the habanero did the trick without making me feel like I was gonna die or burst into flames. The menu is more streamlined than Chipotle, and there are fewer overall options. That’s good if you like simplicity. It can be more expensive than Chipotle, though. My chicken bowl came out to right under $ 10. I like that everything they give you(bowl, lid, silverware) are compostable and they have a compost bin in the side counter. This location feels more spacious than the one near Union Square, but they can fill up quick when they’re busy.

Very similar to Chipotle, I’ve been getting food from them a lot lately since what happened in Chipotle. The rice actually tastes better here and I like their homemade hot sauce a lot, it’s really spicy but excellent. Flavor wise, I somehow think they are fairly plain comparing to Chipotle, which needs to be improved. Most importantly, I would like it better if they have tofu option like Chipotle does…

If I ask for a burrito without cheese, It is obviously because I do not want cheese. Very disappointing to look forward to a burrito all day only to have it ruined by a cashier who was not efficient in doing their job. PAYATTENTIONTOTHOSEPLACINGORDERS, ESPECIALLYWHENTHEYHAVEALLERGENSWHICHREQUIREACCOMMODATION. Thank you to the idiot who ruined my day as well as my appetite. #vegansunite

I’ve been meaning to come here forever and finally got the chance. I like this Dos Toros location a lot because it’s pretty big inside with lots of seating & there’s Father Demo park outside if you want to sit there too in warmer months. The staff is very nice although I don’t think one spoke English. I ordered the Plato(salad) with chicken, salsa, guac, and rice. This place is very comparable to Chipotle but I didn’t know so I made a pros & cons list Chipotle pro: corn, lime & cilantro rice is soo good con: salad dressing sucks, Dos Toros pro: guac is cheaper, less salty, salad dressing is way better con: don’t like the rice, no corn Dos Toros is good, I will prob go again, but I’m slightly leaning towards Chipotle.

Basically your standard Chipotle with a different name. I ended up going with a salad, which was literally identical to Chipotles. However I did like that I could get sauteed onions and peppers along with grilled chicken. One thing they did skimp on was the lettuce. It is a salad therefore you need to have a large amount of lettuce. Overall the flavors were good, and if I was in a bind I would stop here.

Just as good as chipotle. Fresh ingredients and great carne asada. Burrito bowls. Would definitely be back!

Four stars on the update! Leo, an owner, left me a message — saying hey, thanks for your opinion, too bad, try us again, but to each his own. Polite, and respectful, unlike the foul garage spewed by folks at places in, I dunno, every joke of a pretentious shot hole in Brooklyn. Sorry! Now, really, the message was respectful. So I went back. Not too shabby. I’ll probably return. And Much better than Chipotle!

The menu was very good with homemade ingredients. The pork burrito was fantastic. The guacamole was fresh and you can taste the difference from the packaged stuff. The price was good for the city. It was filling and reasonable. My wife had a taco that was very good. The chicken was tasty and fresh. I have to say that it was the right call for us.

This Mexican chain is similar to Tre carne I’ve tried once but much better. I ordered almost same menu, carnitas plate without beans. Their rice was not too dry, so was carnitas too. Also they served much more portion for each. And the price was –same about$ 10. I enjoyed my plate. good amount for lunch. I will try another location.

Bottomline: Mexican Chipotle, worth a shot Food: Pretty straightforward burrito station, with some extra hot sauces. Fresh ingredients, tasty! Ambiance/Service: Great location overlooking the park. Line moves quick.

The burritos are really good, and the guacamole recipe is amazing! The tacos are a complete rip-off though, so stay away. Nice atmosphere and the window counter is a good way to people watch during a weekend afternoon. Better food and cheaper price than Chipotle, without all the loud people descending en masse. Definitely recommend(y)

The Quick: Solid 3.5 star Mexican joint with high quality ingredients. Very tasty and better than chipotle, but not the best Mexican food in Manhattan by any means. It’s a good spot to grab a quick lunch or a taco on the go. Seating is limited, but there are a few seats outside for those nicer days. Worth a try if you’re interested in something simple and good.

Very good tacos, but not the best. Although I do love that they melt a slice of cheese on the tortilla of every taco. Other places to compare would be Tres Carnes(I give it 3-stars, except for the brisket tacos which are 4-star) and Los Tacos No 1 in Chelsea Market(I give it 5-stars).

It’s rare that you find craftsmanship and love in a city this cold, but then a place like Dos Toros comes along and changes all of that. Spectauclar ingredients at every step of the way. One time when I couldn’t decide what beans to accompany my carnitas burrito, and they explained that their carnitas pairs well with the pinto beans, the black beans pair well with the chicken and steak. The staff ensures your meal is as tasty as possible, and is happy to offer suggestions on sauces and add ons. I never stray from the carnitas. Divine.

Where has this joint been all my life??? So good. Recommended by a fellow Unilocaler, this place surely didn’t disappoint. Got my usual grilled chicken and grilled steak taco combo. Add a side of chips and salsa, a drink and the bill ends up to around $ 15, same as Chipotle. I think I’ll just come here to whet my taco appetite from now on.

Carnitas Bowl and Catering Rice, carnitas, guacamole, tomato, lettuce. The comparisons to Chipotle naturally come to mind. Dos Toros has better(oilier) rice and slightly better meat. The meat from catering was especially good. At the store, the meat was not as freshly made. Agreed that they don’t tell you the guac is a dollar extra and they should, but really it makes the bowl 200% better, so it’s worth paying 10% more.
