SUPER fast! And SUPER spicy. I love spicy foods, but be warned their hot sauce packs serious heat. Definitely will visit again. 10 times better than Chipotle!

I like Chipotle too but when in Manhattan I prefer Dos Toros since I find them more fresh and better seasoned. Since this location was close to where I was staying I stopped by during lunch hour and due to their efficiency the line moved very quick despite the crowd. But due to efficiency you are hurried and they don’t even make proper contact or try to confirm your requests. So I guess there is a bit of learning curve at this location since it’s so busy central compared to the other location I frequented few years back. It was disappointing to see the staff roll their eyes after the customer in front of me dared to asked to add something after the bowl already went forward. For my order I was a bit let down by the quantity of food since I remember them piling on everything before but this time everything was a quick scoop even for the extra guacamole. But the taste was good as I remember and I finished till the last grain of rice.

Very efficient: a long line melted away and I was in and through the line in just a few minutes. The food is good; I had a carnitas burrito, which I liked. $ 12 and change for a very filling burrito and a bottle of water, which is a fair price.

Horrible service. I went night time and I could see the tired but that doesn’t mean they should show it on their service. The guy didn’t even know what I order and the girl that cooked it apparently has short term memory.

My partner and I have ALWAYS loved Dos Toros. With that said, we fell even more in love with it this weekend! We went to the UES location for a late night burrito only to arrive FOUR minutes after Dos Toros closed for the night. Despite officially being closed and already breaking down the line, a lovely employee named Rosa offered to make us platos! She was so kind and sweet even though we were clearly there after Dos Toros had closed. We were so excited to be getting our Dos Toros fix! THANKYOU Rosa! And thank you, Dos Toros, for the consistently delicious food! –Loyal Dos Toros Lovers

This is the place for the Chipotle experience, but without the Chipotle baggage. Big burittos, decent price, fresh topping, more toppings, and… a feeder line to two well staffed prep areas. Liberal proteins, cool décor, lots of seats, some at an open air dining bar at the front wall. Fast, fresh, good value… never an issue.

First time returning to this location after they opened and I am SO impressed with the efficiency of their assembly line! I was expecting total chaos considering the midtown lunch crowd but I was in and out in under four minutes at noon. I hail from the Bay Area and grew up eating Gordo Taqueria(the chain that Dos Toros is modeled after) so the original Union Sq location which most closely resembles Gordo will always have my heart but this location is a close second. It’s clean, spacious, the food is fresh and flavorful, and the customer service is great. Size-wise, I think you do get a bit more bang for your buck if you order the Plato with a tortilla on the side as opposed to the burrito, but they don’t skimp on fillings for your burrito either if you’re in the mood to unhinge your jaw and eat with your hands like a glorious, triumphant animal devouring its prey. Pretty obvious that my vote goes to Dos Toros over Chipotle in the never-ending debate, but I would also like to add that Dos Toros doesn’t have a reputation for … unsavory … post-digestion«after effects»(cough cough, ChipotlAway episode of South Park). Just sayin’.

This place is so much better than Chipotle. I stop here during my lunch for my pollo asado salad. It’s a fully loaded salad with black beans, chicken, lettuce, corn, onions & peppers, cheese and sour cream. Large portion, very filling. Their pork burrito is just as good.

Trumps Chipotle. Always fast service no matter how long the line is. My food has always been fresh. I had one issue when ordering online, delivered wrong order — called and received the same wrong order again. I’d rather go in and order.

I got myself a good o’l double steak Plato with everything and guac and bruh when I say bruh it’s like my taste buds went to heaven. The steak was tender and chewy and combined with the melted cheese and guac hit a Homerun in my tummy. I recommend trying carne asada, you would regret it especially this is a high protein meal.

Dos Toros or Chipotle? Another food fuel of which place does it better. Hands down, I would say that Dos Toros is much better than Chipotle, although I’m not exactly sure why or even how I can justify it. Maybe it’s fresher ingredients? The grilled meat?! That being said, Dos Toros’ rice actually has color and flavor as it’s orangey yellow compared to Chipotle’s rice with just cilantro. Probably because they actually boil their rice, who knows. Then, the meat is always juicy and not dry. The only thing that Chipotle has that Dos Toros doesn’t have is corn, which I missed at first, but I’ve learned to sacrifice corn for better ingredients! One more thing, the lines at Dos Toros always move a lot quicker than the Chiptole lines. Who ever wants to wait in line for fast food? Tip: If you want extra rice, make sure you ask after they give you your protein. It’s free of charge!

Says it closes at 10 pm but twice they decided to close whenever they wanted(45+ minutes before 10pm) why have business hours posted when you’re going to open and close whenever you feel like it. Not to mention the bone I found in my food the last time I was there(when they felt like opening).

Grand opening was packed with $ 1 deal for any item and the serving was fully loaded. Friendly service and very well operated to take on the long lines of hungry people. Food was solid, fresh and yumm-o

Solid lunch option in Midtown East. My first encounter with Dos Toros was at Hudson Eats in Brookfield Place. That was a good experience so I was pleased when my co-worker found this location near our office. We decided to check it out today, as an alternative to Chipotle, and it fortunately did not disappoint. This location is pretty large with a good amount of seating. We went around peak lunch hours(12:00 — 12:30), and the crowd was very manageable. Other store positives include cleanliness, friendly staff, and free water cups. The food was enjoyable. I ordered a chicken burrito with rice, pico de gallo, hot salsa, sour cream, and cheese. I liked how they pressed the tortilla with a piece of cheese before adding toppings — nice touch. The chicken tasted fresh, and the salsa had a good kick to it. Pricing is relatively the same when compared to Chipotle except adding guacamole to main dishes is significantly cheaper($ 0.92 versus $ 2.30) and tacos are more expensive. Dos Toros also offers quesadillas as part of its main menu, while this is an option on the Kids’ Menu at Chipotle. I definitely recommend trying it if you like Mexican food. I look forward to coming back again soon!

Fast line, tasty guacamole, and friendly staff. Screw Chipotle, Dos Toros has my undying affection. Hot sauce selection of verde, hot, and/or smoky. Their rice has a good texture and isn’t overdone or too squishy. If you’ve done the usual Moe’s/Chipotle/Qdoba, you know the deal. For those that don’t, basically, every step of your burrito/bowl/salad/tacos has a different person putting a different part onto your creation; rice/beans, then veggies/meat, then hot sauces, and lastly the fresh stuff. Favorite place for a veg-friendly spicy salad under $ 10!

I’m mostly giving Dos Toros four stars because their employees seem like good sports. My friend’s brother decided to get a plate with the spicy sauce option, knowing full well he can’t handle the heat. The employees joined our table’s laughter as he fought to eat through the plate and eventually gave in to buy a bottle of water. Anyway, the food was decent and I for one prefer it over Chipotle. The chicken quesadilla(which I had with extra spicy sauce, I might add) hit the spot. Good stuff.

Boy that line moved fast… these guys have effiency down pat! Food is mediocre sadly, nowhere near the flavor/portion size of a Chipotle burrito bowl, though prices are fairly similar(cept the guacamole which is only 90c here). My carnitas plate looked like a carbon copy of a chipotle bowl, which seemed encouraging — same food with half the service/wait time? Nope. If you’re in a rush for some mediocre, Americanized Mexican food you’ve come to the right place. But if you would rather have some more flavorful goodies, go to Chipotle or, better yet, the hole-in-the-wall Mexican taco joint nearby. Buena suerte!

Line too long at Chipotle? Don’t fear, go to Dos Toros! They’re basically the same thing and the line isn’t too daunting(although it is still out the door). My friends and I came here and waited probably ten minutes to get our food while Chipotle looked like a thirty minute wait. The food they offer is basically the same except they have no corn :(WHY??? I love corn! I got the burrito bowl with steak and chose the medium salsa. Perfect amount of spice for someone like me and there was definitely more than enough food to get me full. Also, I recommend you guys to get the fajita veggies(I think that’s what they’re called. Basically the grilled veggies) because they add some flavor to your food. My friend got the hot salsa and died for 10 minutes. He said that while he was eating his burrito, the spice was okay but once he finished it, his entire mouth was lit on fire LOL speaking of burrito, they also put this slice of cheese on top(something they don’t do for the burrito bowl). All in all, I’m so glad we found a Chipotle alternative around work that’s faster and tastes almost the same. Definitely coming back!

GRANDOPENING for Cinco de Mayo is what you might call taking advantage. Opening up around Grand Central? INSANE. All sorts of people came for this 1 day only, $ 1 promotion for quesadillas, platos, burritos, & tacos. The line of people stretch towards the corner but flow of people was quite smooth. They had 2 different food ordering/payment sections combined perpendicularly to expedite service. Most people opted for the pay and go. Some opted for the pay and sit to eat. I opted the latter. Seating wasn’t that abundant with the crowd but it is still considered ample. The few seats by the giant window facing the street would be great for people watching on any other day but today. The food was ok. I ordered the Carne Asada Quesadilla. The steak was tasty as was the smoky sauce thatI opted for. The shell was nothing special. Would I pay $ 8.00 for this? No. Would I pay $ 1.00 for this? Sure. I probably wouldn’t come by unless I was in some sort of Mexican food craze and happened to be around Grant Central. Both unlikely. Semi FAN.

I’ve had Dos Toros before and personally, I like it better than Chipotle. Today was the grand opening for this place so they we doing a $ 1 burrito promotion. I arrived at about 5:30ish during the PM rush hour and I saw a very long line out the door. To my surprise, the line moved relatively fast and I was in and out in 15 minutes. I had the carne asada burrito with a side of chips and guac. The steak was tender and juicy and I really enjoyed the guac. Staff was extremely polite and the establishment was pretty big. Will be back in the future!
