With all the pizza shops in NYC you would thing it wouldn’t be too hard getting a good slice. This place was alright. Nothing too special. Had a plain slice and was happy to see flecks of basil on the slice. It smelled good. Taste wise — eh! The dough wasn’t cooked all the way through and the sauce and cheese were decent but it lacked something. I sprinkled on the chili flakes and a bit of oregano which helped but not by much. I guess if you’re really hungry or hungover, it will do. The quest for a good slice continues!

We ordered the stuffed pizza and eggplant panini. Both are good. The people are really nice, but seemed like only if you order wine, they would treat you like you are in a diner, otherwise you pretty much have to order and pay and then get your food back to the table by yourself. All in all, the food is cheap and tasteful.

I had the grilled vegetable pizza from here. I thought it was flavorful and made up of quality ingredients. I would come back to try a different slice if I was in the neighborhood again. On my continual and ever lasting search for the best slice of pizza in NYC, this is ranking pretty high.

So this was a good slice of Pizza for sure. I have had a few better ones but I have also has worse ones and I give this one 4 stars. They were VERY friendly and also were quick to take my order heat up the pizza to a nice warm temp and then thanked me at the end. Overall if you want a slice this is a good place, i cannot speak to the other food, i am sure it is good but I had the pizza slice.

I’ve been coming here for many years now. Their veggie slice(although a bit pricey) is still my favorite slice. Their customer service is great and I love that they renovated the place for more comfortable seating! Definitely worth trying out! Some of their slices use peanut oil, so if you’re allergic, you should ask before eating it.

Super great place! The people are always super nice! Food is great! Try the garlic knots, it’s worth it! Great pizza selection. Can get a little crowded, but you can usually find a seat.

Wow that was really good pizza. If I owned a pizza restaurant and I tried the food here I would burst into tears then go home and burn my restaurant down because there’s no way my restaurant could be as good as this place. It’s tight quarters, not many tables, large groups could be hard. Order at the counter then have a seat and waitress brings it to you. I had some cheese pizza and garlic bread, but they have all sorts of pizza and Panini and calzones

Don Fillipo NY Manhattan UES 2pm Saturday 26th December 2015 Three Stars This small pizza parlor and restaurant smelled great from the street so I popped in for a pepperoni square($ 3.95). The crust was golden brown. As for texture the bottom had a bit of snap and middle had some chew. The minimal sauce was deeply cooked with a lots of seasoning. The mozzarella slice was elastic and came right off with the first bite. The pepperoni was greasy good, thin, and well done. The fresh herbs were uneven and slightly burnt. They definitely have some regulars, one of which said they had the best pizza in the UES. They have a couple booths to sit in the back.

My husband and I found this restaurant walking around after having spent the day in Central Park. The place is so inviting and cozy. It feels like you’re part of their family. We ordered the garlic bread, which was absolutely delicious, and a large pizza. The pizza was amazing. You have to pay 25 cents for extra ingredients but let me tell you, they take it seriously. I even had to take out some peppers because there were so many. The waitress was also super nice and the value was amazing! We ended up paying no more than $ 40. We must go again before leaving NYC.

All I wanted was a cannoli on the last day of a 2 week vacation to the east coast. Found this place by accident and am very happy. Had a slice of really yummy pizza and a wonderful cannoli. Can go home to Reno, NV now.

I eat here quite regularly solely out of convenience but Im not complaining. Ive tried a few different slices and plain is always my favorite here. The chicken roll is a must try– with sauce on the side! Their house sauce is one of the best Ive ever had; not too sweet and not over powered by herbs. Im usually always in a rush when I come here so I love their little paninis that are the perfect little snack. Its basically a garlic knot with a chicken cutlet and some cheese… its simple but very well put together. They also have the sun dried tomato and basil panini which Im also a fan of.

Delicious pizza and superb service in a casual spot. Pizza sold by slice or whole, and you can create your own to your liking. We would definitely come again!

Very impolite. They say yes what do you want. There’s no thank you at all. No eye contact. No respect, No anything. I came here a few times and the are always like this. The female waiter on the other hand is very nice

I go to Don Filippo every time I’m in New York. It is simply the best pizza I’ve ever eaten. Which makes it among the best food I’ve ever eaten. My death row meal. The crust is sublime – slightly charred on bottom and thick enough to be chewy in the middle. The balance of cheese, sauce and high quality toppings is ideal. A slice of sausage and pepperoni with a cold Heineken after a visit to the Met: my idea of Heaven on Earth.

This place is a joke lol. The waitress took our orders, they brought out 2 plates out of 3. None of our drinks. I was offered 3 garlic knots while waiting for my penne ala vodka. When it arrived I was never so disappointed over penne before. It was marinara suace with cream in it. I should’ve gone across the street… Regretfully going to ask for the check. Meh.

This is the food I have up for New Year’s. It is oh so good and oh so amazing that two days into my New Years resolution, I’m having trouble sleeping thinking about how awesome their pizza is. What to order: plain slice and a white slice to go. The transit time is important because it allows the pizza to not burn the top of your mouth(over eager, happens). It also lets the cheese gain a small degree of rigidity. I like my slices so you don’t have to go full fold for stability. I still do go full fold depending on my mood, but you get the point the pizza is worthy of structural«sweet spot» analysis. Beverage of choice: Pepsi. Usually a Coke guy, but for some reason with pizza Pepsi just washes everything down perfectly. Like the way ginger cleanses you palette in between pieces of sushi. Extras: mini chicken panini and or garlic knots. Best way to avoid guilt: two slice maximum. Order a couple of garlic knots. Let fiancé take a bite or two so you can say you«split it.» Staff: awesome. Service: amazing. Biggest mistake a girlfriend can make: getting pizza from somewhere else. There’s a trap pizza place on 77th which I suspect makes it’s living capturing unsuspecting foot traffic from the 6 that is completely unaware of the Don option.

I always enjoy searching for the best slice of pizza possible, and after way too many attempts I am so glad I stumbled upon this gem! There are so many places in Upper East Side where I couldn’t even finish slice(s) because of the crappy quality(I know it sounds snobby and wasteful — it left me feeling uneasy each time). Far too often it seems like places just use the cheapest canned tomato sauce without even bothering to season it at all, leaving the pizza tasting metallic. Also, a lot of places use poor quality ingredients, or do not know how to balance everything out. Worst of all, is when the pizza just doesn’t taste fresh at all. Lo and behold I happened to be walk by this place just cruising the neighborhood and I was immediately greeted by a friendly staff. Only one of the slice choices didn’t look very fresh, so I was instantly relieved. After paying a very affordable $ 10 and change for 3 slices, the staff enjoyed some small chat with myself and the other patrons waiting for pizza to-go. I took the pizza home with me and didn’t get to eat it for about ten minutes. I took a bite of the first piece, simple cheese, and I was pleasantly surprised by the perfect balance of cheese-sauce-dough ratio. Also, the sauce itself tasted like they actually put a lot of love into it, as it was far from the crap I had been used to. Suffice to say, the pizza was extremely enjoyable for me and I was so relieved to finally find a by-the-slice offering that was actually good. I will be frequenting this restaurant many more times for my pizza cravings. Thanks for the great experience, as I was truly losing hope in Manhattan pizza!
