Salmon was meh. The music was way too loud to even hear the person sitting directly in front of me. My strawberry margarita was good. Beware they include 18% gratuity in the bill total and we only had a party of 2 people. I didn’t realize this and tipped again and of course the waitress was happy so she didnt say anything to me. Overall would not return because food was so so, waitress was shady and it is too loud for a intimate dinner.

Came here yesterday with my friend. The restaurant was surprisingly empty which I thought was great. The music was great, kind of loud but I do prefer it that way. The layout of the restaurant is beautiful if you are looking for a place to celebrate your birthday or special event I highly suggest this place. The drinks were good, strong but good I only needed one. The food was okay, I ordered yucca fries and grilled chicken. The chicken was to die for, the yucca fries were a little on the dry side. Overall I would definitely return.

I went to this place May 7, 2016 for the second time and had a horrible experience. I called to make reservations and to inquire about valet parking. I was told that it is 10 dolars and to my surprise I was charged 20 dolars when I arrived at the place. I have been to Don Coqui in Queens and had a better experience. It is upsetting how I was ignored and ripped off. I am a Combat Disabled Veteran and suffer from mobility issues due to a prosthetic leg. I mentioned this to the staff to see if I can get a chair and table to sit. They told me no and I offered a large sum of money for seating and again they said no. I grow up in Dyckman since the 1990’s and I am dissapointed with this new establishment operating in a wanton manner towards me. I AMNEVERGOINGTHEREAGAIN.

This is my first time attending the Dyckman Don Coqui. I have to say it’s beautiful restaurant. I when yesterday for 5 de mayo and the place was live. The Dj was playing good music. I just think it was a little to loud. The location only had like 20 people including the bartenders and waiters. Music should be in a moderate volume. Since it was 6 in the evening on a Thursday. Overall the food and service was great. I order the Skirt steak with shrimp and white rice and side order of tostones. The tostones where amazing with the Mojito sauce. The whole meal was in good portions. To start the meal they offered dry sweet plantain with a delicious retried bean dip. I recommend this spot, if you with your crew. As a couple go for a brunch.

Well. I have to start by saying that I was disappointed when i first walked into the restaurant. I don’t know why, it just didn’t meet my expectations at first. I asked my cousin to leave and go somewhere else but he said no and we sat at the table they prepared for us. The Manager Omar came to our table to greet us and recommended what to eat, and what bottle to buy. He gave us a really good price on bottles. I can’t differentiate whether I go easy on waiters/waitress or i always end up being served by the best and nicest ones. But i have to say he was the nicest and friendliest waiter that has ever served me. Me and one of my cousins asked for appetizers. We shared calamaris, copitas(or something like that), and quesadilla, plus the entrée they serve when they accommodate you, which by the way, was DELICIOUS. I judged this place way too fast. After a few hours of food, drinks and hookah, we started loosing up ourselves. Have to admit I had a GREAT time here. There’s no much place to dance but we did it anyway. Loved the fact that when we stood up to dance some people from the other tables around us did the same and we kinda formed dancing groups. I had a great time here and i definitely recommend this place to anyone. The manager is awesome and very attentive, he definitely made the experience rank up.

Horrible place to eat food ! Service is unprofessional and the waitresses seem uninterested in providing top of the line custom service, Did I mention this place got a B-Grade DOH rating? Do not eat here! The drinks are somewhat all right I’ve had better but they are ok that is the only reason they get the extra star on the review.

Went last Friday night with a couple of friends and we had so much fun! The party starts early. you could hear the loud music from a block away. Go there if you want to party early. My friends and I only ordered appetizers and they were okay– nothing special, but the mofonguitos were bad. The drink menu is very tricky. We all got drinks and we thought we were going to get the same size, but their drinks were smaller than mines. They do not specify the size on the menu. My friends drink came in a plastic cup(it was after happy hour) and that seemed very tacky. Our waiter was not attentive at all. He asked how we were doing only once during the night. He would stand next to us and not even make eye contact. We always had to flag him down. The atmosphere is great though.

My Sister & I decided to treat our Mom to dinner on a Friday night. Upon arriving we were seated immediately as the place was pretty empty. Our waitress was nice but, overall the service was So, So! This was my second time having dinner here & not much has improved since they first opened. My food was too oily & our sangria taste more like juice lol My Mom wanted the red snapper that was featured on there Menu however, they were out & recommended the sea bass which, my Mom said wasn’t as good. My Sister had the skirt steak & she stated that she has had better at Gudalupes. One of my main complaints is that the music, amount of hookah smoke & overall, noise level is beyond normal for a place that tends to focus on «food» & not as much as a lounge at 6pm.

There’s nothing that I appreciate more than someone who does their job, enjoys it and does it well. Kylie was al that and more to my group of 5; she was a FANTASTIC waitress. She was quick and went above and beyond. Service is everything and the type of service that she provided is what is prompting us to return again and again. Of yes, and the coquitini drink and sancocho were AMAZING. :)

This is the worst Don Coqui; they served me a Paella with un deveined shrimps. I made reservations for a party and the prefix menu was printed on computer paper which was sloppy. We got served family style appetizer which most of the food look and taste like it was fried in old oil. I wouldn’t recommend this location. Such a downgrade to the other Don coqui locations.

Where do I start: TERRIBLE! Went on a Friday afternoon with my children(being its family oriented) … The bathroom is sooooooo tiny … There is no changing table, and it was dirty and messy with papers everywhere. The food was awful, worst Spanish food I ever had. The rotisserie chicken was pink on the inside, and the stew chicken was more like a soup. Piña colada was good though, but didn’t matter, because the entire experience was terrible. And super expensive!

I’ve been here once before and the food is delicious. I’m here for the second time on a Saturday night. I’ve been waiting over an hour for my entrée, and the music is so loud I have to scream at the top of my lungs if I want to have a conversation with my friends. This does not feel like a restaurant. It’s a nightclub that serves food. There’s a SECURITYGUARD. Never in my life have I been to a restaurant that has a security guard. There were SEVEN birthday celebrations in the couple of hours we were there. To top it off, the server added extra items to our bill. If you want to come for the food, I would suggest coming during the day.

I have written 1 review ever and it was positive. Never thought I’d write a negative one since I’m in the restaurant industry. Here it goes. This is directly at the owners. Your food is an insult to the industry. How dare you serve the garbage that was served to the public. I ordered the ribs and what came was boxed mac & cheese which I find offensive, the potato salad was old, the ribs microwaved with a sauce on top. The quality of the meat was inedible. After ordering I searched the Unilocal pictures and right ways knew I was in trouble. You guys built your brand around great times and great food. I was a regular at sofrito. Your food was very good. So my question to you is. Do you not respect the people of Dyckman enough to give them what they pay for. It’s beyond disrespectful.

This is the first time coming to Don coqui in general and i was really amazed by the interior design. First impression really matters. Moving on the food. For an appetizer me and my wife had seafood bisque which was delicious(highly recommend it). For entrée I had the steak(churrasco) mofongo and let me tell you it was just AMAZING! Good decoration on the plate. My wife had pork chop with shrimp fried rice and it was also delicious. The manager Omar was very polite and offered us coquitos shots on the house. And the waitress was great too. I will definitely come back to this restaurant and recommend others to visit Don Coqui in dyckman.

Been twice and so far I’ve been very pleased with the«service» that I received… the food however, did not leave a lasting impression on me. I ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice and it smelled and tasted sour… as if it was going bad. They took maybe 4 small sized shrimp and cut them up in the rice with some chopped scallions smh Other than that, the ambiance is pretty cool, location is perfect and the staff there is very very cool(give them two thumbs up!).

It sucks that I have to even give a star rating. The food was cold, non appealing at all, and it tasted like it had been fried for days and stored until it needed to be reheated. The drinks are so overpriced and not good at all. The only thing that gives it a 1 star rating would be the friendliness of the staff.

Randomly stopped in after eating at Mamajuana on Dyckman. The drinks were great and the bartenders super friendly. WEPA .a drink consisting of jugo de tamarindo, chinola with some tequila was delicious! I could tell managers were eager to get a crowd, we walked in with a group of 6 girls and were offered a table right away, they were really nice and accommodating. Only complaint would be the bouncers/security, a huge guy literally came two times telling us if we were going to stand by the bar we had to move in closer, mind you the place was completely empty expect for the bar and two families eating. We ended up leaving the second time he demanded us to move in and ended back at Mamajuana down the block. Kinda strange he had this attitude when we were the largest group of females in the establishment, and were tipping well. It’s not what you say it’s how you say it.

Came here for dinner on a Tuesday. Ambience: Trendy and modern. This location is super small compared to the Astoria one. The handle on the bathroom sink kept falling off so hopefully they will take care of that. Service: Our waitress was super attentive and friendly. With that said, at times it became a bit too much cuz she asked us if everything was ok like 5 times. The busboy and I guess the host, also asked us a couple of times. I know they were just trying to do their job but when you’re engaged in a conversation and someone keeps interrupting, it becomes a bit annoying. Food: We had the calamari and although it was good, they could had been more generous with the sauce. The paella was decent and pretty big. We shared it and didn’t finish it so it might be good enough for three people if you’re not starving or if you order extra appetizers. Prices are a little steeped specially for the area. The food was good but not amazing. So I doubt I will go out of my way to return but if suggested, wouldn’t object to it.

I had their first Brunch last Sunday and it was my husband’s birthday. I was so happy with the food. Yes even though empty the service could have been faster but the waiter was very nice and at times attentive. We had a prefix brunch menu. The seafood tasted very fresh and I got a lot for the $ 25 brunch their version of a Mimosa which is with gauva juice was amazing. I’m a very picky eater(I’m Puerto Rican who makes my food with love at home) and when I see a good Puerto Rican restaurant that doesn’t make me say I can cook this better… it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. ;) I will be back to try their full menu and I pray they don’t disappoint(even on their slow days)!

Unilocal should give us the option to put minus negative stars!!! What an epic failure! I am currently sitting here writing this review!!! It took about one hour and a half to receive our drinks and appetizers… It took about 2 hours to get our entrees, which were cold and had no taste!!! I sent my food back, to only receive another cold plate! The utensils were distributed after 5 mins of our food arriving. I am extremely disappointed. We asked them to bring a cake to surprise our family members who were celebrating their birthdays, let’s just say they managed to mess that up!!! Everyone is unhappy! :(our bill was over 500.00 dollars for the crappiest service and food I have ever received in my life!!! I can’t believe the service and food is so bad on a Monday, I don’t want to imagine what it looks like during the weekend. This place sucks!!!

Service — Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed her! Décor — the décor is simple, yet elegant. Food — the food was good. I got the steak sandwich which was made with plantain instead of bread, which was a pleasant surprise. The bottom of the sandwich was very oily which made the sandwich a bit soggy. The fries that came with the sandwich were also more on the oily side than crisp and crunchy. The oxtail was flavorful but a little salty. However, the avocado that accompanied it was perfectly ripe and tasteful. Drinks — We both ordered the Sexy Islands — It was a very tasty, fruity drink. :)
