Good customer service, gorgeous furniture, but high prices

This is not a product review, this is a company review. We ordered three standing lamps on March 17 from DWR and where told they would take 6 – 8 wks. to arrive, we accepted this. Today June 9 I received an email from customer service telling me the lamps where no longer in stock, that the manufacturer was no longer making them and so sorry. This after multiple conversations stating that the lamps where in transit to the warehouse and then would be on the way to New York. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever had from any company anywhere. Barely an apology for wasting almost 3 months of my time. Thanks for nothing DWR.

I purchased the Matera storage bed, Line credenza and Milo recliner from this DWR location. While deciding on our purchases, my husband and I visited multiple locations to view all of the items and I found that customer service was consistently good at each store. We made our purchases with Michael at the Flatiron location, and he was really helpful and so great to work with. He assisted us in arranging for purchases to be delivered at a much later date and ensured we got all the fall sale prices. While the price point is still relatively high, we find the quality is worth the price. Very happy with our purchases and the sales staff.

Incredible: no matter how often I’ve tried to get DWR to stop wasting nature’s resources on me with catalogs I don’t want, they keep on coming. After I posted a negative review about this, I was kindly contacted by a DWR staff — but obviously me giving her my coordinates didn’t help. Why on earth isn’t DWR more careful with nature’s and its own resources?

When a store lets you down, there isn’t much to say, is there? We bought a theater sofa from DWR in 2011 and by last year it was already in terrible shape. I repeatedly asked if the leather was fragile and delicate or if it would hold up to every day use. I was told to upgrade to a higher level, which I did and, low and behold, the piping wore through fast. Moreover the cushions have lost their shape and the whole thing looks terrible. I’ve spent well over $ 5,000 for a couch that is poorly made. What was DWR’s reaction? It’s wear, it’s not their fault. The Herman Miller stuff I bought from DWR is holding up better, as I would expect, but still, DWR is a disappointment. Most of us in the design professions wish it would go under so that a better replacement could appear.

The staff was amazing, super helpful and very friendly. The price is a bit expensive, but rightfully so. For such a small store, the selection was actually quite large. I have my eyes set on a ceiling light that I will be coming back for!

Product looks wonderful and the couches I sat on were really comfortable. Service? The employees must have been able to tell we couldn’t afford said product because we didn’t get any. I guess I should be grateful they didn’t guilt trip us until we left the store with our tails between our legs. I guess the prices are fair? I’m assuming the product will last a long time. Maybe someday I’ll have enough money to test my hypothesis.

This is where I come when I want to spend time sitting in and admiring the extreme comfort of Eero Saarinen’s Womb Chair. On my last visit, the saleswoman showed us all the upholstery options for this charming chair — so many pretty colors of boucle and mohair! One day it shall be mine!

Good luck finding service in this store. We there are 6:30 last night and the 2 sales people were too busy on their computers to even look up and say hello. I was there to buy some lamps and furniture. In this economy, I am not begging someone to take my money. If they give me service and sell to me, I will buy. We should all patronize businesses who want to sell to their customers. The days are over of clerks sitting at their desks waiting for customers to walk up and take their $$$. Great furniture and designs.
