One of my FAV bars in the City and the best on restaurant row. Plenty of locals and quirky hangers to make you feel relaxed and comfortable. Brian is a great bartender and will always guide your beer selection at Deacon’s.

Mike Dolce is the tits. This is a good place to grab a whiskey from a bartender in an ironic thrift shop shirt. Good music and solid pours.

My go-to bar in the theatre district. Untainted by tourists, it’s a locals pub with midtown prices. Not shockingly, it can get a little annoying on Fri/Sat nights but it’s perfect on a weeknight. Cozy seating around the bar area if you’re seeking a little more privacy.

Cozy, homey, more of a «locals» type of pub. A nice selection of beers, plenty of music on the jukebox, and not overly crowded. Will definitely be back.

This is a local hangout with good beer selection. It is not a big place, but feels comfortable and low key. The nice thing is you will not find the crazy crow from Midtown hanging out here. It is dive bar, but in a nice way-stop by you will like it.

I need to give a shout out to Brian, the bartender. He was absolutely so nice! Some bad luck hit our way while we were in the bar and he was awesome. He talked to us and gave us advice. Thank you, again! The beer selection is pretty good here, there are some nice spots to sit away from the bar, the bathroom wasn’t dirty(small as most NYC ones are but it was clean at least). Will definitely stop back in!

Great bartenders, great atmosphere of you like a calm bar. Bartenders seen to know everyone so definitely a local spot. Gotta love it.

This place is dangerous. I used to live above the bar and was here ALL the time. The bartenders are great and quick no matter how packed it gets. The thing I love most about the bar is how different the crowd can be depending on the night. Sometimes it’s all neighborhood people. Sometimes it’s filled with all women. Sometimes it’s a celebrity hang out. It’s never a bad night at Deacon’s.

If all the bars in midtown were fighters, DB’s would be a stocky, little, unbeatable, Irish b*stard. The kind of guy you can’t help but love who kicks everyone’s buttocks! If it weren’t for the fact that I’ve been to too many bars in this town to remember them all — arguably an ironic side-effect — I would easily call this one my favorite. There was a time when I was working near it and got there more often. Then, for a while, I stopped going. Not because I didn’t like it, but because it just wasn’t convenient. I went back after remembering how much I like it and it hadn’t changed a single note even though the neighborhood doesn’t look the way it did when I started writing this review. Good company. If you stay there late, some of the real performers from B’way come in. Not celebrities, but the really cool people. Great selection of beer and spirits. And ridiculously reasonable for the area. You’ll be embarrassed to try your crappy Irish brogue that you do to impress all the ladies in accounting, this place is so authentic. I have never had a bad night coming in or out of this place. It’s a wonder that it’s so close to Times Square, it’s so cool. Check it out. You will love it, too.

Made the mistake of going in on St. Patrick’s. I just wanted food. They didn’t have food. Ended up paying $ 10 for a pint of Guinness. In a plastic cup. And still hungry. The bartender tried to guilt-trip me on top of it. Never coming back here again.

I once left my cell phone here, called it, and the bartender picked up and arranged for me to get it back. Class act! Oh, and the bar isn’t too shabby either. It’s a small little Irish style dive bar with not a huge crowd and no douche baggery.

They have a good selection of scotches and the bartender is very friendly(and Scottish or Irish). We sat in the super cute couch in front of the fake fireplace and that was nice.

Best dive in the most unexpected place, at the end of the crappy ol’ Restaurant Row on 46th Street. Beers run $ 5 to $ 7 and they are flexible and adept with mixed drinks. Good place to just warm your bones after running the Times Square gauntlet. Seating is often ample in the rear of the bar, but people do like to sit near the bar to hang out with the barkeep — an amiable Scottish fellow. If you don’t need food, beats the hell out of my ‘near Times Square’ go to bar, BXL — quite a bit pricier, but almost as calm.

A locals’ bar hangout in Midtown? Hard to believe, but it does exist, evidenced by Deacon Brodie’s. I was a little skeptical when a friend said she wanted to take us to a bar in the area to end the night on a low-key note. I imagined we would walk into a space swarming with tourists. Not at Deacon Brodie’s. Small. Homey. Welcoming. Dive-y. Perfect. Bartender was very friendly. Drinks were average, but I wasn’t expecting any frills. Mellow atmosphere. Now I know why Trish C. loves the place so much. I could forsee myself being a regular, too, if I lived in the city. Well, maybe.

I didn’t know a dive-type bar like this existed on Restaurant Row. But it does and it’s a good one. We got a seat at the bar before the«crowds» came. This place is small, so it doesn’t take much to get tight. The bartender was awesome. We started talking to some guys who got a craft-type bourbon and I mentioned that while I love Irish whiskey, I’m not much of a bourbon fan. One of the men invited me to taste it, insisting that I would indeed love it… but before I even got off my bar stool, the bartender poured me a tiny sample so I could see for myself. And, you know what… I *did* like that bourbon! Just wish I could remember what it was called. We talked to lots of nice people and had a great time. I know we’ll be back.

A nice, quiet, off-beat Scottish pub in the middle of a loud neighborhood. Bartender is very nice. This place was ¾ full but very quiet and comfortable. Low lightning, good beer, quiet place to talk. Everyone in here seems to appreciate the low-key, quietness of this place. On the way to the bathroom, I noticed some classic caricatures by Sir Leslie Ward(«Spy»). Very nice touch.

Ducked in here avoiding a rainy July weeknight with a friend and had a great time. It’s a low-key small place and for a Sunday night was relatively empty and quiet. Nonetheless, there were small candles lit everywhere and it was super cozy. On the bar, hanging in sconces. Maybe a little Phantom of the Opera-ish? In any case, the bartender was super friendly, drinks were not that badly priced for Hell’s Kitchen, and it was a nice respite.

My favorite bar in Manhattan, by far. The bartenders, Dave and Andy have been there forever and are just the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. It’s low-key, chill and has an excellent selection of Scotch. Deacon Brodie’s is my go-to place for drinks.

A divey oasis in a sea of terrible bars. Super low key, neighborhoody bar good for a few drinks whenever. Bartender was nice, prices were solid — will go back when in the area.

Usually I’m a bit reluctant to drink in bars near Time Square. Things tend to be crowded, overly expensive and there’s always the terrifying possibility of having to interact with tourists. But Deacon Brodie’s was chosen by my pals as the bar in which to ride out Hurricane Nemo, so I strapped on my snow boots and I headed over. And was really happy with the experience. The bar is a small one, but we managed to grab a table in the back. As far as I saw, it was one of only two tables in the place, so unless you’re lucky be prepared to stand around the bar. The size of the crowd waxed and waned throughout the night, but never felt uncomfortably packed. The bartender was great, with a great sense of humor. When my pals broke out a board game and started getting a little rowdy, he came over… But only to see what game we were playing. Drinks are priced typically for a pub in Manhattan: $ 6-$ 8 for a beer. This bar is definitely one of the better options for locals drinking in midtown.

Living in HK for almost 10 years. this was my neighborhood bar. Now living in Brooklyn I hardly get to visit. It’s the coziest, friendliest, no frills bar on restaurant row. Andy and Dave are awesome bartenders and I’ve known them for years… like 10 years. Anyway– if you are in the hood an are in need of a beer, wine or vodka/soda– this is the place for you. They are not big into the frilly/mixology type drinks here– but I’m sure if you asked– the guys at the bar would oblige. Also– great jukebox. I may or may not have spent over a $ 100 in that thing over the years.
