Hands down the best bagel that I’ve ever had in New York! I’m sorry but as a jersey girl, I know jersey bagels are simply the BEST. That said, I couldn’t even believe my bagel was so good. It was totally comparable to the Jersey bagels that I know and love. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese. I didn’t want my bagel toasted, so I expected it to be cold. I was pleasantly surprised when it it bit into my bagel and it was warm! I have to give it another try to decide if the bagels really deserve 5 stars. Although there was a huge crowd waiting to get their hands on a bagel, the line moved super fast. It’s hard to get breakfast at Chelsea Market for cheap, but Davidoch Bakery is sure to be the perfect solution.

I am ashamed to give this place even 1 star. We ordered for delivery and the food took two hours to show up. Once it finally arrived our orders were all messed up. Bagels not toasted, coffee black with no cream and we asked for cream and sugar, the list goes on. I will never order from this place again.

Pretty good bagel, though a bit dense. Service was great but they toasted it without asking me. I wouldn’t go out of my way but I would be happy to grab a bagel here again

A LES on a wheat everything bagel is the perfect cure for a rainy, gloomy day in NYC. After seeing the longest line EVER in front of Russ + Daughters, my friend and I decided to check out Davidovich Bakery since it also got rave reviews on Unilocal. Can’t say that I didn’t miss that caviar cream cheese a la Russ + Daughters, but that LES definitely helped satisfy my bagel craving. The bagel was toasty and the portion of lox was more than generous. I only wish that there had been slightly more cream cheese. The capers also didn’t seem to be the freshest. Aside from those two things, however, the LES was delicious and I gobbled up every bite.

This is a small stand in a market. Not really what I was expecting visiting NYC and looking for a classic bagel shop, but not terrible. Staff were friendly, food was okay. But, they toasted my bagel without asking, mixed up a couple of the ingredients I ordered, and everything seemed store bought. Not what I expected when visiting the Lower East Side, and seeing a 4-star rated bagel place.

I want to like and support this small neighborhood business, but you guys need to be more consistent with your opening times. I come mostly in the morning after dropping my child at school, then I’m off to work. Usually you’re open, but there have been many times that I come by and I’m told you’re not open. That means I’m going to go to another vendor and spend money that I intended to spend there. But what bothers me is that the times I was told you’re not open, I wasn’t told in a nice way. No need to be nasty if you’re not ready to serve customers, but maybe don’t have staggered opening times and I won’t bother you.

Now that Kossar’s Bialy is undergoing a face lift, in this part of LES/Chinatown, it is almost impossible to find a decent bagel. While others live in a food desert, it is official, I live in a «bagel desert.» Sure, you’ll find every single cheap Chinese bakery known to man here, but you’ll be hard pressed to find a decent chewy bagel in this area. It may be time to leave this part of town… So on a Sunday afternoon, I find myself inside Essex Market, really hoping to get a decent bagel w/cream cheese. At 1pm in the afternoon, this place has already run out of everything bagel. Why me? So I chose my next favorite bagel, poppy seed. And they have flagels, cool. I ask if they have tofu cream cheese, also a yes, cool. The guy at the register rings me up and tells me $ 4.36. I look at him bewildered but pay for it. Really? Almost 5 bucks for a smear? What the??? Never mind that they also forgot about my order, but the woman working there did apologize and produced my smear quickly, but honestly, I could’ve bought a 6-pack of bagels and some cream cheese at my local grocery store, and it would’ve tasted the same without causing such a huge dent in my piggy bank.

Placed an order online bc when I called them they told me they don’t take phone orders and had to go through seamless. Estimated time online said one hour for ONE bagel sandwich to be delivered 6 blocks away– which is fine. I waited. Only to end up waiting 2 hours with their phone off the hook and busy the entire time where I couldn’t reach them. Would never advise to order online with them. Unreliable.

Perfect way to start the day is to have a bagel and a fresh cup of coffee. My favorite was the«everything bagel». I only wish the staff would have been a little more polite and helpfull. Still a must place to try!

Placed an online order for two bagels. They called 20 minutes later to tell me they were out of turkey bacon. I told them to leave the bacon off the order and to please deliver ASAP. An hour goes by and I call them back to find out what’s going on. They say the order just left for delivery… Did he even know which delivery I was talking about? I guess it’s a standard reply to end the call. 1:40 goes by and I still am here with no bagels. They have stopped answering the phones now. This is not the first time I’ve waited such a long time but I always give the benefit of the doubt. If you want timely delivery service, this is not the place. The quality of the food is a non-factor after dealing with all of this, that is, if it ever gets here!

Be ready to wait a bit for your order, which shows a good side in that the food is fresh. But they handed my friend our bag of food with«everything in it.» We rushed out to catch our train, only for us to discover once there that my bagel was missing. We went back the next morning, and they gave me a complimentary replacement bagel, but they had run out of bacon, didn’t refund me for that, and this all without much apology for the disservice. So the service wasn’t great, but the bagel was delicious!

A solid bagel on the denser side, which is a matter of preference. The bagel itself is better than say Russ & Daughters but not as good as my favorite Essa. That said, it’s still worth your time. Few reach Essa’s lofty peaks.

Seating was limited, and the girl working the register wasn’t friendly. Also, they should keep serving omelettes past noon especially on Sundays. And my iced coffee didn’t have enough ice and she only offered to put milk and not sugar. Those are the only negative things I have to say. The bagel was delicious– fresh, soft and not too chewy and not too toasted. It had a good balance of everything(everything bagel)… The salmon was fresh and was good quality– I hate when it’s stringy and hard to bite into without it getting stuck in your teeth. I had the LES on a whole wheat everything bagel.

Small counter at the Essex Street market. Perfect to grab a bagel and a cup of coffee when on the run in the area. They make some signature sandwiches which look great — but I have not tried them to date. Solid bagels, muffins and coffee. Friendly staff.

a bit over a year later and I am no longer a fan. This store is just never open. whether i come at 4pm or 1pm. they are closed or closing or they have no stock. At times, there’s been a sign saying, «Be right back», but it’s a lie. It’s annoying because on many occasions, I have refrained from picking up bagels figuring i’d get them on the way home at Davidovich, only to find them closed. They must have gotten some sweetheart deal which allows them to afford to be open 10 random hours a week. It doesnt seem like they are interested in doing business any more.

New York City has so many places where you can grab a good bagel but if you want a great tasting New York Bagel then you have to stop by Davidovich Bakery located at The Essex Street Market. They make fresh, Artisan bagels made by an old family recipe. The menu consists of several Signature Sandwiches: 1. The LES(MYFAVORITE) — Lox, Cream Cheese, Capers, & Red Onions($ 7.99) 2. Essex(My Second Favorite) — Tuna, Lemon, Shallots, Dill, Olives, Red Peppers, Olive Oil, Lettuce, & Tomato($ 6.99) 3. Elvis — Peanut Butter, Banana, & Honey($ 4.99) And a few others. The prices may seem a tad high but do not get discouraged. It is indeed worth the $$$. They also serve a few pastries, coffee, tea, & freshly squeezed orange juice. The staff is cool & friendly. During the weekend, the line can build up so be patient. If bagels weren’t so damn fattening, I would have Davidovich’s sandwiches everyday!

Do you know how hard it can be to find a freshly made bagel on a Sunday after 2pm? Many of my local bakeries are out of them by that time, but Davidovich didn’t let me down. They were out of coffee and about half of the flavors they normally have in stock, but they still had Egg, Onion, Cinnamon Raisin, Plain, Whole Wheat, and a couple other bagels and we were still hungry for a good smear and toasted bagel. I also appreciated the tables and seats inside the Essex Market on a really cold day. I went with the Onion Bagel since they were out of Everything at the time. The bagel is the really dense and doughy kind– not full of air pockets. They seem to put the cream cheese on one side and then sandwich it together, but they put a generous enough portion that if you like to eat your bagel by the quarter or half, there’s still plenty of cream cheese to go around. The veggie cream cheese had some nice sized chunks of carrot, scallion, and peppers. The cream cheese itself is smooth and slightly more spreadable than it is stiff– light in density and not too sour or sweet. Today I went back and tried the Cinnamon Raisin bagel with their special honey walnut cinnamon cream cheese– a sweet pairing and this time the cream cheese was a bit more dense and much more sweet(but that was due to the honey, I’m sure.) For around $ 5 I had a breakfast of iced coffee and bagel w/special cream cheese– a great deal considering nearby places may charge $ 4 just for iced coffee alone. The Unilocal reviews for Davidovich actually led me to exploring the entire Essex Market, which I hadn’t done before– so kudos for great reviews!

Clearly I’m in the minority here but I wasn’t impressed by Davidovich. I got the Essex Sandwich(tuna, red peppers, shallots, dill, lemon and olive oil) on an everything bagel. There was way too much dill which overpowered the flavor of the tuna. The bagel was nothing special either. It cost about $ 8 which is expected for a specialty bagel sandwich.

It’s in the Essex street market it took me a few minutes to finally find this place here is my short review CRONUT I had no idea what it was but the friendly server said just try it it was pure decadence in a handheld treat round like a donut flaky like a croissant covered with maple frosting and custard filling oh yummy day
