I haven’t even been to this office, and I already received an insurance claim of $ 150! I called in to make an appointment, gave them my insurance info to make sure it’s good. Then couple days later I couldn’t make it and cancelled it. And a week later, I got a notice from my insurance that this office put a claim on my insurance for«office visit». What office visit if I didn’t even step into the office?!? Obviously my insurance is smart enough to deny the claim without my interference. Shady practice…

Dr. Kriegel’s Manhattan Center for Dermatology has unfriendly and unhelpful front-desk staff. I have found this to be the case on numerous occasions, including them botching my insurance and referral paperwork. I would not recommend this place.

Dr Kriegel is rated as a NYMag top doctor but good luck getting to see him. You will get an appointment but will be seen by one of his PAs and he stops in for a minute to sign off. You probably get an appointment with the actual doctor if you are doing a pricey cosmetic procedure. This place feels like a factory — churning through multiple patients — and seems like they triple book patients. The only reason I come here is it’s very easy to get an appointment with a PA for non essential visits.

One of his nurses called Mary or Marine or whatever who is a super rude and inpatient woman. She made me very uncomfortable and confuse every time when I visited there(surgery day, other consultation days). She treat my wound badly and made it non-stop bleeding when I was waiting for the 2nd part of my surgery. Because of her, I have been waiting for consultation over 2 hours by complaining me about my incorrect medical information when I made the appointment. I am sure I would grade this demonology centre pretty high if I don’t see this mean lady. I feel sorry for the demonology centre to has her.

My visit here was. .. tolerable. I didn’t see Dr. Kriegel, but one of his physician assistants, a woman named Allison. I waited for about half an hour, fine, weirdly it took them a while to process my paperwork because the woman I first spoke to kept getting on the phone, and for some reason the other two receptionists that were sitting at the front chatting with each other couldn’t take over. Allison was friendly enough when she introduced me, but when I started explaining my issue, she cut me off and whipped out her iPhone. She spent the rest of the time scrolling around on what I can only assume was WebMD instead of looking at me /my issue. She assured me that she was listening, but cut me off every 5 seconds to suggest that it might be one diagnosis, only to change her mind when I explained further. By the end of our 15 minute session, I got the distinct impression she thought I was wasting her time. I waited another 10 min in the room while she wrote some prescriptions, which were sent back by her assistant, who didn’t know what the prescriptions were for. .. she had to go back and talk to Allison in another room to figure out which prescription was for what. it wasn’t unbearable, but I definitely won’t be going back.

Been coming here for 7 years, I’m sitting in the waiting room as I write this, it’s been 1 hour and 15 minutes since my appointed time. Needless to say I will never be returning.

Beware! Usurious fees, substandard care, questionable billing practices. One the phone, and in the office, I requested that Manhattan Dermatology Associates simply lance a boil on my neck; however, when I got in the exam room, the caregiver(Allison Santhouse, RPA-C), refused to do so. Instead I was given a simple injection of cortisone in the boil and was told that if it didn’t do the trick, I was to come back in a week to have the boil lanced.(So they could charge for two office visits, I wondered?) The cortisone injection(of course) did not work, but I did not return to Manhattan Dermatology Associates — I had my GP lance the boil, instead, during my physical exam the next week. Even so, Manhattan Dermatology Associates billed my insurance company $ 125 for«skin surgery» that was not actually done — over and above the $ 25 charge for the cortisone injection that did not solve my problem. Plus a simply astounding $ 275 fee for the«office visit» itself. It seems to me that this provider is not only over-charging for their services to health plans and plan members alike, but is consciously performing unnecessary services that won’t work, in hopes of charging me and my insurer for additional appointments.

I have had a rash on my face for three months and they cannot figure out what is wrong. Maybe it’s a fungus(nope), or perhaps it’s bacterial(nope) or maybe we just don’t know so we’ll keep prescribing all different sorts of creams that do not work at all and the rash just keeps getting worse. I have been going to this office for two years and over those two years have seen three different doctors — the one that I actually like has left the practice. I am moving on to another dermatologist.

This review is NOT based on Dr. Kriegel personally, but on the office he owns and the staff he oversees. I’ve been here several times and each time I’ve always felt like I’ve been rushed through my appointments. Fine, I get it, it’s a busy practice. However, the last time I was there I went in for a rash that suddenly flared up on my entire upper arm. I’d just gotten a tattoo and did some research and it seemed like the rash was from overapplying lotion to the healing tattoo. I went in, hoping to get some kind of antibacterial cream, but the woman ended up doing a biopsy on my arm, inches away from the tattoo. Now, I’m no doctor, but I’d think treating the rash with some sort of prescription medication would be the first step to see if that clears the rash up. If not, wouldn’t a biopsy THEN be the next step? Again, I’m not a doctor, but it also struck me as odd that she did a biopsy for a rash. Regardless, she spent about thirty seconds looking at my arm, told me she was going to do a biopsy, and before I could say anything she was marking my arm with her special pen and ripping my skin off. When(surprise, surprise), the rash turned out to be just a rash, the woman who did the biopsy didn’t even call me, her assistant did. Now I have a gross scar next to my new tattoo. Awesome.

I’ve had a decent experience here, but not without some bumps in the road. The office is certainly very clean and professional, and the doctors and nurses very nice. It’s very close by the 59th st. subway station. However, I’ve had some problems with them submitting my insurance properly that have been stretching on for months. They have a $ 50 fee for appointments cancelled without 24 notice, which is the last thing I wanted to hear when I woke up with a stomach virus. Additionally, the first doctor I saw here left the practice, which is fine, but I would have appreciated being told this before I called to make a follow up appointment a few weeks later and was randomly assigned to another doctor. Overall: I’ll keep going back, but I wish that they would make the business end of their practice a bit more customer friendly.

This was easily the best doctor experience I’ve ever had. His office, conveniently located on the same block as a subway terminal, is immaculate. I have never waited more than 10 minutes in the reception area, and more than 5 minutes in an exam room. The nurses are super nice, and Dr Kriegel manages to break the typical ego-centric doctor stereotype while simultaneously being very knowledgeable and straightforward. I felt very comfortable around him. I’ve seen Dr Kriegel about a half dozen times now for various problems. I really can’t emphasize how fantastic the experience is each time.
