Service is horrible and the workers have a disgusting attitude, the food is way to expensive and doesn’t taste too good

I loved this place. The falafel sandwich was so yummy and fresh. Why do they have closed that location. It looks like I have to venture uptown to get those grub. :(

The food was good. I used to get the VVB — some vegetarian BBQ sandwich that had a ton of flavour sprinkled with blue cheese and crispy onion bits. It ran about $ 7.00. It was also a good size and other things seemed to be pretty large. The thing I hated was the absolutely bitch at the register. No matter what day, what time, or who she talked to she was horrible. She grunted, snatched money from customers and threw change back at them onto the counter. The last time I was in there I was literally choking and stumbled up to the counter gasping for air, asked for a bathroom, she said NO. Then gasped while asking for napkins which she promptly threw in my face. I left my things on my table and ended up throwing up right in front of the place once the food was dislodged which grossed out the other customers but my concern was not dying on my lunch hour on Fulton Street. When I came back in and asked for more napkins she said«only one more». What a glorious day, using my rain coat to clean myself up after I choked on BBQ tofu. By the time I got back to the office I looked like I had been run over by the G train. The food was good, but I’m glad they closed, especially considering their lack of a bathroom, customer service and ambivalence to choking customers. WTF is that sign about how to help a choking customer when you need it???

As I slowly but surely start to prepare myself for many work commutes to FiDi, I’ve been scoping out some places to grab quick bites. Just outside of one of the Fulton Station near Williams and Fulton, Crisp stood out of me on one cold December afternoon. In other words, I was cold and saw space at a communal table. Why not? Ha! The menu contains many options for falafel and shawarma. I opted for a basic falafel sandwich in a pita, because I didn’t want to go crazy with unknown combinations at the time, such as their Mexican and Athenian. Served in a cardboard container, I ripped the packaging open to find, surprisingly, a falafel sandwich that was quite aesthetically pleasing that tasted great as well! The falafels were crunchy enough, the vegetables were crunchy, and the hummus(though, I’ve tasted better) was liberally applied throughout; I hate when falafel sandwiches put too much hummus either in the bottom of the pita or in the top. I’m already adding this to my list of «Quick Lunch Spots near Lower Manhattan Hospital».(Reminder to self: Actually MAKE that list. Ha!)

Great vegetarian fare. I tried one of their falafel platters with veggie chikn and turned out to be quite tasty and filling. I will go there again.

One of the better falafel sandwiches I’ve had in New York. However, there is an issue of paying $ 10 for a sandwich that completely lacks a protein. While the parmesean cheese did not exactly work in my sandwich, the vegetables and crumbled goat cheese really worked well with the large balls of falafel. It also in the end is quite filling, but still not quite there for the value.

Best Waffle fries I have tasted. ALTHOUGH!(with a histerically loud voice) their Veggie burger taste extreeemely wierd. Might be my taste buds, might be not. I consider my tongue as a indiscriminate food lover. Two stars are gone because of their food. Their veggie burger was ok at first, but halfway through it tasted what a white board marker would smell. Might be bad, might be good(probably not) I dont know. All i know is that I am not a vegetarian and having tried veggie burger from here is not a good place to give your first step. Another star is gone because the environment of the establishment is very plain and non-warming. Of course, this is my personal point of view. Each one to their own thoughts.

This place is just too good. I can’t stand it. So far I’ve only been there once and I am hooked. Their Mesquite Hummus Bowl was so diverse and plentiful. The mix of these different«toppings» on the hummus created a really unique taste I wouldn’t have gotten elsewhere. The bowl comes with delicious thin and crispy falafel balls that don’t have to take forever to chew like the other falafel balls I usually eat, along with crispy onions, and«nuggets» which are vegetarian chicken nuggets but taste so savory they’re better than actual meat(trust me, as a devoted carnivore I don’t say this very often). It was so filling, in fact, that I couldn’t finish the bowl. I actually saved half of it for lunch the next day! Not because I didn’t want to eat it, mind you, but because the portions are more than generous. Although this place is definitely a healthier alternative to some of the other lunch places around the area, I wouldn’t call it the healthiest because of all the toppings they offer. But it does offer a more«balanced» and fulfilling lunch than most! I really appreciate this place putting an innovative twist on the falafel as a meal, offering it with hummus bowls, salads and the traditional pita wrap. I was excited to hear that they have falafel burgers — that is next on my list to try.

Looking for a healthy lunch option in FiDi? Then you gotta try out Crisp! Food here is healthy and fresh, with a menu that has some different options. Warning! The pita here is HUGE! There was so much food that I couldn’t finish it in one sitting! The falafel’s here aren’t the greatest, but when combined with the pita and toppings its delicious! There are a bunch of options you can choose from and my favorite is the African which has habanero peanut sauce and sweet potato :) Ooooo you gotta try the dessert, the hazelnut mousse is amazing! I gave Crisp one full star just on the mousse. The mousse has this amazing little nut base at the bottom… ooooo I’m drooling just thinking about it. Seriously I have gone back just to get more of that mousse! The place is clean and neat, but a little small especially during the lunch craze! I suggest you order your pita and get it to go. The to go box is great, it provides enough structure so your pita doesn’t self destruct on its way back to your place. This is also a great place if you’re vegetarian. So if you’re FiDi looking for healthy food, come here and for goodness sake don’t forget to try the hazelnut mousse!!!

I come here for lunch frequently during work hours. The food is so delicious. I always get the Hummus & Israeli Salad. It’s quick, delicious, and kinnnnnddd of expensive. $ 8/$ 9 for a salad with 5 falafel and a piece of pita. Just as a forewarning– the dining area consists of one large Biergarten style table and the ordering line wraps(no pun intended) around between the table and the wall. Usually there is room for one or two people so prepare to be cozy! If you want to eat by yourself head to lunch after 1pm and it won’t be that busy at all.

After a few unsuccessful ventures around FiDi for some good vegetarian fare, I eventually discovered Crisp — and oh what a discovery that was! Crisp is a clean, assembly-line style falafel joint that prides itself on eco-consciousness, veggie fare and fast service. There’re a number of choices when ordering your falafel including«mexican», «africa», «europa», «athenian», etc., but honestly I’ve only ever ordered the«Authentic» as I instantly fell in love with it the first time I had it and I’m a creature of habit. The Authentic consists of hummus, cucumber, tomato, parsley, mint, pickle salad with tahini and, like all falafel creations, comes in a cute cardboard box that you«unzip» via cardboard perforations. It’s a fun way to start your lunch, and helps with the structural stability of the pita, but like another reviewer commented, it leaves a lot of waste at the end which clashes with Crisp’s eco-conscience claims. I think the main thing I like about diving into one of Crisp’s pitas is the size of the pita makes the entire experience a journey of tastes. This is not something you can gorge down in 3 or 4 bites, so you end up only getting one selection of ingredients in your mouth at a time. You begin with the cucumber, tomato, parsley and pickle salad, and as you munch on the greens you get a sense of why they named their restaurant«Crisp» as all of the ingredients are quite fresh and crispy. During this time you also think to yourself that you’ll probably still be hungry by the time you’re done, a notion that you begin to doubt as you get further down into the falafel. I’m not a falafel aficionado, so I can’t compare Crisp’s to the rest of NYC’s offerings, but as a vegetarian of 5 years and a frequent devourer of falafel around the country, I can say Crisp’s is above-par. Very light and crispy, yet filling. The meal ends with a generous helping of hummus at the bottom of the pita, and it’s at this point you realize it was silly to doubt this thing could fill you up. There are other menu items that you can include if you’re a bigger eater, like waffle fries, but I’ve found these additions to subtract from the overall experience, as the fries are a bit greasy and heavy — a direct contradiction to the light and«crisp» pitas. The restaurant itself is quite clean, with bench seating for 10 – 20 people depending on how comfortable you are with bumping elbows with strangers. Service is extremely fast due to the assembly-line production, and staff are very pleasant. All-in-all, this has become my favorite lunch spot in lower Manhattan, and at $ 7 for the authentic pita it’s reasonably priced enough to have me coming back often despite my attempted personal limitations. This frequency has lead to me becoming the butt of some office jokes, though I suspect they’re just secretly jealous.

Now here’s another concept. Falafel in a box. There aren’t very many healthy places downtown, so I’ve been meaning to try this place out. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and bright the store was despite the small size. This is a twist on the traditional falafel. They do offer classic, but also add all kinds of fresh ingredients to liven it up. You can get a Mexican, African or Greek themed pita. It’s like a party in a box. I got the Europa, which included arugula, goat cheese, sundried tomato, cherry tomatoes and some sort of tomato spread in addition to the falafel and whole wheat pita(by the way, huge fan that they offer whole wheat). Quite delicious, though I’m not really sure if it can be considered healthy anymore after all the additions. Oh, they also offer you two free sauces on top of all the aforementioned. I got the spicy and jalapeño(if you guessed I love spicy foods, you win a gold star) and liked them both.

Absolutely LOVE this place! Vegetarian’s paradise! I agree the place is pricey, I would NOT try to make a lunch habit out of Crisp. But the make your own option is amazing(albeit pricey). For 11 bucks, I can have my heart’s content worth of toppings on my falafel sandwich! Love the fact that their bread is fresh backed on their premises AND I have the option to get the wheat bread. So yummy! My absolute favorite topping is the Corn salsa. DELISH! They also have the yummiest mango lassi ever! The sauces available on the side counter are super yum too! The store is kind of small, with seating for around 10 people at one time.

3.5 stars. near to 4… I never had this kind of pita before. the homemade pita was really soft to enjoy! The pita sandwich is HUGE! I ordered the african. pretty unique. I love the falafel here. slightly spicy(I guess is the sauce that made it spicy). the combination with sweet potato is just perfect. with the spicy peanut sauce. Service is kinda fast. I was in and out for less than 5 minutes. A really good take out place in Financial District. something different and unique since everyone is trying to grab a quick lunch as a break.(hey. you need good food to keep your energy up for the rest of your day!!) I can’t say much good things about this place. that’s why I am giving 4 stars. but I will love to return. :)

Very surprised… Super tasty falafel in a salad– so despite the deep fried falafel– this is a somewhat healthy lunch! Really excellent falafel — in flavor and texture. Will definitely return!

2.5 stars chain food, got the Africa sandwich, was solid. Expensive. Positive was the great Mint Iced Tea Neutral was the sandwich Negative: Price, some weird smell but it seems it is coming from the Chipolte now… so I guess I was mistaken. I usually go here now for just a mint or white grape tea. 2.16 for a large good tea. why not.

Very interesting menu with a new take on your typical falafels/pita sandwiches. I am writing this review the morning after I had this for dinner and I am writing out of hunger. I had the chili cheese falafel burger. I love falafels and I don’t eat beef so this was kind of perfect. The veggie chilli kind of sogged up my falafel, which I should’ve known. I like my falafels crisp and I couldn’t taste it through the chili. The burger wasn’t very filling. I could possibly be okay eating this for lunch but definitely not dinner. My bf had the Mexican crisp and was very full. Beware their signs say falafel sandwich & salad bowl,(see my pictures) what they mean is OR. FYI salad bowls are $ 1.50 more. Good ingredients but not sure of it warrants a $ 7.95 price tag. At the end of the day it’s still just a pita sandwich with no meat. Then again, it is wall street and perhaps this is our way of ripping them off. Yeah! Payback! Place looks clean. Green wall tiles remind me of a bathroom. Wooden benches got seating. I personally hate those. The seats are always so wide I feel like I’m climbing through an obstacle course to get in. I would say this is a decent lunch spot, skip for dinner.

Oh Crisp, how I love thee. They are my number one lunch spot near my office, and I have eaten there a few more times than I’d like to admit. It is an obsession. My favorite item on the menu is actually the Classic burger. Falafel patty, lettuce, tomatoes, house dressing, american cheese on a whole wheat bun. It’s also really filling! I’ve never had falafel like it, I love the added spice and the texture. So much more desirable than the oily and greasy mass you get from other places. They have really good fries as well, which I usually share because the portion is pretty big. The staff are efficient and friendly, and you can tailor your order to your desire. Thank the falafel kings for Crisp’s Fulton location, otherwise my lunch break would be dismal with the other ‘options’ that are close by!

There are falafel sandwiches and then there are falafel sandwiches. Crisp has the latter.(Way more flavorful than Maoz!) And normally, even falafel of that caliber is nothing to get all excited about but let’s remember this location is in the middle of the barren wasteland that is FiDi. For my first visit today, I ordered the Crisp Africa on whole wheat pita and after I took my first bite, it was over. It sure blew all the falafel carts on Broadway & Liberty out of the water. Pita Grill who? I don’t know if I will ever pay money anywhere else. Ok fine, maybe when my wallet is feeling a bit too light, then I will save a few dollars and go to Nicky’s instead. Otherwise, I will be going back here as long as my fingers are touching some green. Crisp Africa was just the right amount of sweet with texture galore. My friend also got the same and we only took breaks between our chews to exclaim: 1) how fresh it tasted 2) how the falafel was NOT greasy 3) how the complimentary sauces(tahina, minty green sauce, spicy zhug) definitely added an oomph 4) how much we were loving our lunch When we were finished, we were still singing high praises over how much we had enjoyed our lunch. Then we got some forks to make sure no bite went wasted, and chomped on the last pieces of corn and pita dipped in sauce. All in all, we ate to heart’s, tongue’s and stomach’s content but not to the point of acid reflux. Another friend recommended the Crisp Parisian for those who love goat cheese. I can’t say I do so for my next choice, I will either go for the Crisp Mexican or the Chili Cheese burger. Can’t wait for some more yummy in my tummy.

I’m so excited I just found this spot. It is obviously new because I work in this neighborhood for 4 years and have never seen it. I was walking outside thinking what to have for lunch and passed by Crisp. It looked new and different so I walked in to check it out. The place is not big, clean and nice bright colors inside. It’s all about falafel but it is not a typical falafel stand. They have great variety of different types of falafels, you can have it with different fillings or sides, on pita, on flat bread or in the bowl. Nice concept. It is tasty, filling and makes you feel you ate healthy at the same time. I had Crisp Authentic on wheat pita and it was great. They were baking fresh pitas right in front of me. I would def be back for more. PS «They pack it so nicely for you — very good for take out or on the go. »
