Such a shame this place closed. We always had a great time. The comedians were always consistently good, and not just the headliners. Their drinks were fantastic as well. After the show we would dance the night away in the lounge area. Wish this place would reopen.

How sad! Had no idea they closed… I went to several comedy showcases at Comix – great space, surprisingly great food(even kinda veg-friendly), great comedians… what a loss. *pouring a little out for Comix*

I love Comix for the sheer fact that its a classy comedy club. No dungeon looking rooms, no overly tight squeezed seating that leaves you scared to move an inch, and yummy food/drinks. Always a pleasure, never a disappointment.

What a scam. Cons: –Way overpriced drinks. Bottled water for $ 5? –Mandatory coat check! Is this legal? We walked in and they told us we had to check our coats because they«got in the way of the servers.» Then charged us $ 3 each. We got into the showroom, which was freezing, and noticed that half of the people had their coats. My husband went back to get ours and the first thing the ever so friendly coat check lady said, «fine. but you’re not getting your money back.» -$ 10 cover for each person plus a two drink minimum. Seriously? I bet the new talent sees none of this. –Our total was $ 60 for two ginger ales, one beer, and one bottled water. Oh yeah, and the 18% for the gratuity that they add on at the end. Pros: Some people were funny, including my wonderfully talented friend, who we were there to see. Too bad she probably isn’t going to see any of this money that she deserves, way more than the owners behind this poorly developed business model.

I got last minute tickets to go see Judah Friedlander from 30 Rock and was rushing through Manhattan to get here on time. We got lost and were walking aimlessly through the streets until I called Comix and got not so helpful directions. We finally found the tiny venue and got our tickets. The guy at the front directed us to the bar when we should have gone to the room PAST the bar for the actual show. The bar and and performance room are like night and day. The bar is swanky and classy with nicely dressed patrons to match while the actual show room was filled with a mix of real new yorkers and tourists. I do however like how the room is set up, you pretty much have a great view no matter where your sitting and the it’s very intimate. There is a two drink minimum so I ordered a few beers($ 7 each) and an order or pesto fries($ 8). The service was a little on the slow side and our fries were too greasy and soggy but none of this mattered when the show started. I’m not a fan of the two drink minimum rule after already paying $ 40 a ticket for a show but the comedians who perform here are hilarious. We even got some one on one time with Judah after the show and he was nice enough to let us get a photo. It may have costs well over $ 100 but I laughed until I thought I was going to wet my pants.

Great Location in the meat packing district. Trendy, moderate sized showroom with a nice ambience. We saw Lynn Klopitz’s «Bad Ass Birthday Bash». Lynn was very quick witted and had 3 or 4 of her several ladies«I use that term loosely», that were actually very funny. There were a few that deemed a restroom break… you win some, you lose some. Comedy is a tough business. I’ve never been to Comix before but will be checking out their shows for the future.

Came to comix because a friend of mine is a comedian and was on that night. The place is pretty nice, the bar area outside was pretty classy. I really liked the look of it. I don’t remember spending that much there but i really didn’t pay attention to the bill so it mustn’t have been to high. The comedy was pretty funny and we got seated front row, which was double edged but the only comment made our way was that one comedian gave me a looked said that she felt if she made an inappropriate joke my way I might have her killed. Which we all laughed at. Also the food was pretty good; all I remember was the crème brulee and some sort of apple fritter that was amazing.

After much hype and recommendation, I finally came here for last night’s Freestyle Love Supreme, which was just pure genius. I highly recommend watching this show which is featured every first Monday of the month. My only gripe is that it’s too short at only one hour. My 3 star rating is of the Comix club itself. The prices for the tickets are a bit high with last night’s show at $ 20 in advance. Furthermore, Comix enforces a 2 drink minimum per person. I figured it was no big deal since they advertised lovely happy hour specials from 530 to 730 but upon being seated in the showroom, we were informed by our waitress that the specials only applied at the bar outside. So we ordered from the regular price menu — $ 36 for a bottle of red and beer at $ 7. I’m not sure how strict they enforce the 2 drink minimum as my boyfriend only had one drink. Shortly after the show was finished, we were kicked out since another show was supposed to go on after ours. What’s good about Comix is that all the seats in the house had good views, unlike some comedy clubs that have partially obstructed views. The place was also maintained well. Skip the coat check since there’s enough room to leave your jacket on your chair.

We went here for Judah Friedlander for Valentine’s Day Eve. It was a sold out house, and there were a lot of people. Comix made it 100% possible to be in a crowded room and have a good time. They seated by wristbands, and there was no such thing as a bad view. The comedians were hilarious and non-insulting(as other places are), and a good time was had by all. The food was amazing, and the drinks fairly priced. I’m not a huge fan of comedy shows, but places like Comix might make me reconsider. The venue is clean, the staff is professional, and it makes me feel that the staff care about their customers.

Yes, Comix is expensive, but that’s because of the class of comedy club it’s in. You will pay over $ 30 for a ticket and will be subject to a 2-drink minimum. But that’s standard. Caroline’s is the same way. This is the kind of place you go to see top-notch comedians do their shtick. Comix is better than Caroline’s, though, because of the seats. You will be closer and your view less obscured. We ordered Calamari, it was decent. The waiters are sort of bumbling idiots, but it’s not too bad.

Kind of pricey, but Comix makes up for it by attracting top rate talent, mixing them in with some really funny up and comers, and spruces it up with some nice décor that is nicer than any other comedy club I’ve been to in the city. The annoying two drink minimum is altered slightly to be a two ITEM minimum, which means you can order food instead.(Of course, who would choose food over booze? But it’s nice that they put that out there for… whoever…) Didn’t get around to trying the food, but it looked like some solid comfort food fare. And the drink selection(which I was«forced» to explore) was quite good. But it all goes back to the caliber of the funny-folk it seems to attract, which is the real selling point here.

I went to Comix on a Wednesday night and I have to say it was decent. The show I went to, «A night with the Daily Show and Friends,’ was okay. The first couple comedians were average, but the headliner, John Oliver(the British guy from the Daily Show) was hilarious. He really made the show worth while for me. As far as the venue goes, there really isn’t a bad seat in the house. The food is good, but somewhat overpriced(what comedy club isn’t though?). I had the onion rings, which were delicious, and I requested a side of ranch with them. I am very picky about ranch dressing(cannot STAND bottled hidden valley crap), and this ranch was excellent. There was actually a spice to it, which I really enjoyed! If someone knows the secret recipe please contact me! The service was fine, and the drinks were good to. I would go back, but I might take visitors to other places if it is their first time to a comedy show.

I won some tix for a show at Comix, so I went back after more than a year. Service has gotten better, at least on this experience. Our waitress was more present and came to check on us throughout the show, but not in a way that we couldn’t enjoy the show. It’s a 2 item minimum, but that can be 2 club sodas if you’re feeling low on cash. Comix brings in some great acts, and it’s a great place for some good laughs. My only complaint is the bathroom situation — it’s downstairs, and there’s often another comic down in the loungy/bar area doing an act so you have to squeeze through the crowd to get to the restrooms. Kinda annoying, but not a dealbreaker. I’d still go back to see a good comic.

Gone to a couple of shows at Comix now, and I really like the space. It’s big enough to fit a ton of people, but the layout makes things feel intimate. Crowd varies. Sometimes it’s a hushed crowd, other times louder and more involved. The John Oliver show I saw here recently was perfect — great show, great crowd, great use of the space. Minus one star for the expensive food. The drinks are pretty much in line with NYC lounge prices, so can’t complain there. But the food is VERY $$$ and isn’t much for what you get. As others have suggested, eat before you come and use your two item min on drinks. At least the cocktails are decent-sized for the price. Also, make sure to check your bill. Sometimes they add in gratuity, sometimes they don’t. Comix is a good time though. I’ll keep coming back!

Comix is a tricky place to review because reviews are bound to be mainly influenced by the show one attended and the company one was graced with, so I must be fair. I had a great time with my first NYC comedy show ever with friends. However, I must assess Comix as a business, and that is, the place is a ripoff. While the show itself was not a ripoff per se, the two item minimum that is mandated upon purchase was the hook. Food and drinks are way expensive. Appetizers at high end restaurants have a reason for being priced double-digits, but it’s very difficult to see why it’s like that at Comix. I ordered gelato($ 8), which was melting when it arrived, and sparkling water was $ 5. Take note: these were among the least expensive items. Lastly, service varied: some waiters were quite kind, while others were the opposite. However, there was a happy hour event before the show, and prices of drinks were fine: $ 5 mojitos, $ 4 wine, and $ 3 drafts. These were not included in the two minimum, but still, it was good to chill over drinks with friends before the show started. I am not sure whether these type of happy hours are included in every show, but it was certainly a nice bonus to the one I attended. A night out at Comix could be quite expensive, which shouldn’t be surprising. Otherwise, how would it withstand operating business in the hip Meatpacking District? So that show and the company you come with better be worth it!

Went here expecting the worst based on other Unilocalers reviews, but I came away beaming! If you arrive early enough you can almost sit on the stage. I was so close to the lovely janeane garofalo, we made eye contact and i was able to have some pretty awesome moments of confirming her awesome opinions. A lot of people are complaining about the two drink min but come on people. You are at a comedy show, have a couple beers/glasses of wine! They had a decent selection of wine and they FILL those glasses up to the top. You DEF get your $ 8 worth. Our waitress was great, she hustled and was always there when we needed her. They had a lovely selection of appetizers, not the typical pub grub which I appreciated. Got the greek mezze and the spinach mushroom dip, both of which 4 of us shared. i’d go back for sure.

I went back this week to claim my free drink that I had won on Oscars night. Since the free drink had a short expiration date, I only stopped by for the drink. The bar was simply appointed with a few bar stools and a secondary row of seating. There were a couple of gaming tables as well, with a few gentlemen playing poker. I opted for a premium margarita which was nicely prepared — a $ 14 value. All in all, I would say there bar is set up for patrons of the comedy club to pass their time until the show begins and is not really a bar in the usual sense. Still a good comedy club though.

As a comedian who performs throughout New York, I have the unique point of view of both an audience member and a performer. Here’s what I see: Prices seem pretty average for the area. If you think a dinner AND a show are expensive here, you should move out of the city. Immediately. Food is really really good, I’ve been to other clubs and have been too afraid to even consider ordering off the menu. I’ve also been to nightclubs where all I’ve been offered are two slices of pita bread dotted with hummus dispensed from an eyedropper. The room and stage are beautiful. No pictures of Andrew«The Diceman» Clay on these walls. Variety of performances. Stand up. Sketch. Music. Theatre. Anything and Everything. Except Gallagher. Way too talented. And of course, the people. Friendly, polite, and working hard to make your experience better so you can have a night out in New York.

I’m not a big comedy club fan… I never really feel like I get my money’s worth. Comix, however, was pretty cool. I really liked the set-up because I could actually see from where I was sitting– which is rare being 5. ft tall. The waitstaff was nice, and not annoyed when I ordered sparkling water to satisfy ½ of my 2 drink minimum :) I saw«Mel» and«Dave» from Flight of the Concords, who were both hilarious, so for once I did feel like I got my moneys worth. Tip: There are some seats on top the row that are GREAT. We kind of got«stuck» there but I was able to see over everyone’s head, and didn’t have to be awkwardly squashed next to strangers. The downfall, our waiter took FOREVER to get to us with our drinks.
