I really love this restaurant. It has an intimate, family atmosphere. The wine selection is awesome. So are their cocktails. I tried a saffron-infused gin that was so saturated with saffron– my drink looked yellow/orange. Pretty dang special! Portions are the perfect size and the staff is attentive, personable and not intrusive. The open kitchen is subtle. It doesn’t dominate the restaurant– I think the place has a natural beauty to it– there are wood logs and beautiful flower displays. I like dining in a lovely environment, and I care about comfy seating. Colicchio & Sons has both! Their seasonal, terrior-minded menu emphasizes the restaurant’s lack of artifice and(unnatural) preservation. This might be my new favorite restaurant in town.

From the hostess to the wait staff, everyone was cheerful, friendly, attentive and professional. The food was perfectly executed, I had not a single complaint. It was my daughter’s 19th birthday and she is a student at the Culinary Institute of America. They really touched me at how special the staff made her evening including a tour of the kitchen. We loved it so much we came back for brunch the next day which was excellent as well. I highly recommend for any special event or just for a nice evening out where you don’t have to worry about an evening spoiled by poor service or inconsistent food.

So when you make a reservation at a fancy restaurant and tell them it’s for your anniversary, you might expect a cute little cake at the end of the meal. That’s what I was thinking when the hostess asked me if there was a special occasion for the reservation. But then again, we’re talking about top chef head judge Tom Colicchio’s restaurant here! Upon arrival, the hostess congratulated us. Nice, but great, she read the reservation notes. We get to our table and there’s an envelope with our names on it! It was a nice hand written congratulations card. Everyone from the waiter(Lyndon) to the water filler said something nice to us. Then we open our menu and it was personalized with a happy anniversary message with our names on it. Now this was starting to get exciting. So this is what fancy restaurant service is all about. Lyndon was an amazing waiter. He was funny, informative, and really(I never say this) took care of us. When one of the cocktails we ordered turned out not as good as it sounded, he offered to pick out another one to try. It was excellent. And he thanked us for trusting his taste. We even joked about what Tom likes to drink when he’s there(white wine, natch). We ordered a few appetizers and shared an entrée. They offered to serve everything in testing menu style, which turned out to just mean they split everything in half for us. The good was excellent. First, an amuse bouche of a small cantaloupe ball with a thin slice of jalapeño. Interesting. The table bread was a small loaf in a cast iron pan. Next tuna and caviar crudo where the tuna actually treated like sushi quality. Then the octopus that was prepared in the oven to prevent it from being rubbery. Delicious, especially with the avocado purée(eg guacamole). Last was the wagyu beef. Tender and delicious. They don’t even asked how you’d like it cooked. It was perfect. We originally planned on going elsewhere for dessert but were enjoying ourselves so much we got the coconut tart. It was velvet smooth and rich. They even gave us a complimentary piece of rainbow cake on a plate marked for the occasion. They gave us each a muffin to go(for tomorrow’s breakfast) and our personalized menu in an envelope. Stunned. Let’s just say they earned every penny of the tip we left. My wife already made plans to come back with her girlfriends for the next birthday.

It has been a little while since I have been here but I can’t say enough good things about this very delicious indulgent tasting that we did. The service was amazing, our waiter was extremely attentive and the food was remarkable. I even got a thank you email to follow our visit ! I highly recommend this place for anyone that likes to be treated like a king or queen

We went to the bar for a drink and some snacks. I had an amazing apple cider it was so crisp and refreshing. We decided to share a pizza — we went with the duck confit with smoked crème fraîche, that right smoked crème fraîche! The pizza had a crispy crust and the smoked crème fraîche really made the dish! We really enjoyed it and wanted to have dinner there but then the storm was coming and we had to run to the bank. The restaurant design looked really cool and the staff was awesome! We would definitely want to dine there next time!

Disastrous experience this past weekend. We got charged 30% service fee and had only 2 servers for a party of 30people. We started dinner at 8 and main course did not arrive until 10:30. The restaurant stopped serving us alcohol claiming we were too loud despite the fact that we had our own private dining room(sealed and separated from the rest). Our late guests were even rejected by the restaurants to join the party. Not cool for a restaurant to have«views» for certain ethnic groups.

Service. Service. Service. The best I’ve had… Food was impeccably arranged and the timing of the courses was planned out like a Broadway musical scene transition. We had a nice conversation with an Aussie couple in town for their anniversary. They were as impressed with the service as we were. The wine selection is enormous, the sommelier picked my now favorite wine(Chateauneuf du Pape — 1998), and we left so full I can’t even write about the deliciousness that is the food.

I went here for my 30th birthday dinner and it was great. When I had made the reservation they asked if it was a special occasion and I told them it was my birthday. When I walked in that night, they had a card on the table wishing me a great celebration and they even had my name on the menu. The food was delicious. Best octopus salad I have ever had! Great service too. Can’t wait to go back!

Took my BF here for a surprise dinner. A few notes: — Dinner Bill: About $ 250 with tip — Meal Size: All appetizer sizes. We weren’t really full but the bread was amazing… It was glazed in melted butter and fresh out of the oven. Yes, I’m the type to judge a restaurant by its bread. — Décor: Perfect date spot… Absolutely beautiful inside. — Service: Second to none… I loved our server, very attentive and diligent with my bread requests. Most memorable part was their special touch in making our dining experience amazing. They printed a special menu with our names on it that we could keep as a memory!!! I loved it! Definitely try the sea urchin ravioli. Amazing.

The food was excellent and the drinks — wow. Just phenomenal. Every wish was accommodated and even though we were in a hurry that did not ruin the experience. I was very happy with every choice, cooked and seasoned to perfection, and the small, perfectly portioned sizes of the dishes. I could not have been happier. The staff was friendly and professional, the ambiance is sophisticated, modern, and refined. The washroom facilities are private and impeccable and the location relatively close to Broadway is very convenient as well.

TC is very modern, upscale and classy. Service is very attentive and amazing. The moment you move, it’s a radar to all the waiters to jump into action. Very nice :) I came here for a gathering with friends. Got myself a nice cocktail which was tasty. Started off with the Duck Confit Salad, was very tasty but way too pricey for the portion($ 22)…one fried egg over a couple of slivers of duck with a small handful of greens. For my main course, I went with the steak($ 34) — thinking and having mirages of a good sized and juicy steak… to be disappointed with two slivers of meat and two strands of scallions with maybe some mushroom. Yes, while«cooked to perfection» i sarcastically asked the waiter, «where’s the rest of it?!». By the time i started to get the flavors in my palette, I was already done with it! I look across my male colleague who opted for the scallops; the poor man was served two slivers of tangerine or grapefruit(can’t remember… it came off the plate so quick!) and three scallops… LOL. I almost wanted to offer him some of my steak, but I couldn’t! The two pieces were already in my molars! Is the food tasty here? Yes! But are the portions anywhere mere optimal for dinner? Absolutely not! At the end of the evening my colleagues and I had to dish out $ 95 per person for ingredients worth a fraction of the price. There are just far better places and options where you can truly have a satisfying meal. Tapas bars aren’t even as frugal. Unfortunately, unless sponsored by someone, I don’t think I’ll be dishing cash out of my own pocket to TC. It’s one of those«once in a lifetime» events. Oh well… diner somewhere local? I was still hungry…

Disaster. No bread was served and the portion is way too small for the main. I ordered the snapper and it was the size of my small finger. Way over price for business lunch. You leave here hingry.

Dinner for 2. — Ambiance(4⁄5) Upscale and cozy. Not sure I was a huge fan of the carpet. And while the lighting fixtures were sexy, several of them were out. Guess they’re hard to reach and a pain to replace. — Service(5⁄5) Professional, courteous, and extremely fast. Dishes were served one after another. — Bread(5⁄5) Wow. Warm and toasty, served in a sort of cast iron mini-tray. Glistening with butter. Tasted almost like a pretzel, but warm and doughy inside. — Nostrum Cocktail, $ 16(5⁄5) Unusual flavor but delicious. The cardamom infused whiskey really stood out but then smoothed over by the honey and ginger. It was also cool(and delightful) to have a whole star anise in the drink, so I got a whiff each time I went to take a sip. — Black Bass Crudo, $ 19(5⁄5) Delicious bites, but the kumquats make this dish. The acid pops with each bite and really makes the fish stand out. — Crispy Farm Egg & Duck Confit, $ 24(4⁄5) The crispy egg is ridiculously delicious. How did they fry it and still keep the center so oozy? The duck confit was super delicate. But the sauce was a tad salty. — Peekytoe Crab and Uni Ragout, $ 26(4⁄5) Lots of crab but I could barely taste any hint of the uni, and the ragout felt heavy overall. A bit too rich for my taste and also a tad salty. — Roasted Lobster, $ 30(4⁄5) Although the dish was really good overall, the lobster was not as tender as I usually like. The trumpet mushrooms were great texture and absolutely delicious. — Squab, $ 27(5⁄5) Probably the best dish of the night. Perfectly cooked and crunchy skin. Great sauce, not too salty, which was a nice reprieve, and surprising pops from the Tokyo turnips and grapes. — Roasted Duck, $ 29(4⁄5) The breast was cooked to perfection, and the wintergreens were a great complement for the duck. The sauce, however, was salty, again. — Flourless Chocolate Cake, $ 15(2⁄5) Those who watch Top Chef will understand why I found it ironic, or perhaps just fitting, that dessert would be the course to drag the meal down. The cake was extremely dense and there was just insufficient passionfruit tang on the plate to break up some of the sweetness. — Value(4⁄5) The menu says that each plate is appetizer sized, but I thought the squab and duck dishes were quite sizable. I’d have been overwhelmed if we truly treated them as appetizers. So, those 2 were great value. The cocktail, while inventive, was a bit steep, and the dessert was just pretty bad. — Final Word The crudo and the squab are worth coming back for. But a lot of the dishes were above average creativity-wise and just a tad salty. On Top Chef, Tom frequently criticizes chefs for under seasoning the food. After tonight, I wonder if he just has a slightly salty palate. The dishes were all presented beautifully and for the most part things tasted good, but I don’t think I found the experience as memorable as I would have liked. Still great, just not 5-star great.

Greeted by friendly staff but not overly friendly which I like. I like the high ceiling and the noise level was just right. My server was amazingly beautiful & sweet. We had a $ 220 pre-fixed new year eve menu & half bottle of sancere since we has a charity event to attend, we wanted to leave some rooms for later event. Caviar — generous portion but I rather have my quail egg raw so that I could mix it like tuna tataki. The caviar I a little too salty therefore if the quail egg us raw, it will neutralize the saltiness of the caviar. Hamachi– truly dissapointed with the ingredients! Topped with cheap tasting bean sprouts. Did not match with the flavor of the Hamachi & sauce. I was hoping for few drops of the yuzu essence to bring out the freshness if Hamachi. The beansprouts killed the whole dish & presentation. Octopus — I believe it was overcooked and it was hard to chew l. Was slightly burnt at all ends. They exchanged it for beets salad(nothing special). Foei Gras — one of the premium quality and the portion was generous too. However, the sauce was too sour. Almost perfect. Uni crab — fenomena but extremely rich and heavy too. 30 days aged sirloin — I wish that it was medium rare rare. Good combination of the sauce but I don’t like the texture of the meat. I prefer filet mignon, wagyu & kobe. Lobster– enjoyed every bite of it. Cooked into perfection. The tenderness of the meat was just heavenly. Pana cotta– too complex. I then asked to sprinkle some sea salt on top of it where I tried it from nobu. I was in love with nobu’s Pana cotta. Hazelnut enclaire — indifference Food — good not great Ambience– good Service — excellent Price– reasonable Overall: 3.3

I absolutely loved my meal at Colicchio & Sons. I really cannot say enough about the quality of the cuisine. We started with the crispy farm egg(sinfully delicious — I could have eaten three! The duck confit was melt-in-your-mouth good), roasted foie gras and beef tartare. All were spectacular, and really set the stage for a truly fantastic evening. The second«course» consisted of the lamb bolognese, squid bucatini(highly recommended) and the most amazing peekytoe crab and sea urchin ragout I have ever consumed. I will likely dream about that ragout. The flavor profile was extremely similar to a pan roast I had recently, but even better. The crab and sea urchin created a rich combination that really must be tasted. The«main» course included poached lobster, which was accompanied by trumpet mushrooms and brussel sprouts(lovely) and panchetta-wrapped monkfish(perfectly prepared, and absolutely delightful). I finished the meal with doughnuts, which I would also recommend. They are tiny, but pack an incredible taste within those bites. I do not jest when I say that every single dish we consumed was absolutely scrumptious. My only complaint arrives with the service, which was extremely attentive and polite, but also distant and somewhat pretentious. The waiter was aloof, and I expect more warmth from the staff, as if they genuinely appreciate your patronage.

Any visitor and resident in New York should make the Chelsea Market a place to visit but don’t eat anything because across the road is a fantastic restaurant. The staff’s dedication is outstanding. You would think that everyone that works there is an owner. The wine list is extensive and the food was perfect. It doesn’t get better than this. Small to medium portions but just enough when everything is delectable.

This is a dream comes true. Perfect dining for major events, celebrations and such. I had dinner with by Bf few nights ago for our anniversary. We had the combined menu with wines. 4 plates with 4 different wine glasses matched with the food. Service is excellent, meal delicious. It could be consider pricy but it’s so worthier. You will have an incredible sense experience between taste, smell and general atmosphere.

This is a place you go to for special occasions or when you have clients in town. You definitely shouldn’t come with a budget since you’ll definitely exceed it(appetizers alone). However, you get what you pay for as both the food and service are impeccable. I definitely recommend the following but I’m sure anything from here will be good: 1) Heart of palm salad(seasonal)-fresh and topped with crispy brussel sprouts 2) Pan seared duck– excellent flavors and cooked to perfection 3) Diver scallops– beautiful dish; I wish I could have had more They also brought out a dessert for our anniversary and made a special menu welcoming us to the restaurant. Details that count.

Was it worth the hype, you asked? Indeed, it was. This may only be a five-star review because I haven’t had the opportunity to experience fine dining such as this in the past(a 20-something on a budget isn’t exactly frequenting Per Se every night…) but this was the best meal I’ve had in quite a long time. Maybe ever. Let me just preface this review by saying that I love Tom Colicchio. Simply because I was an avid Top Chef-watcher growing up. I honestly knew very little about his style going into this meal. And as it turns out, his dining philosophy is the same as mine — he favors appetizer-sized portions so that diners can try more dishes than they would at a typical upscale venue(unless you opt for a tasting menu, of course). Given that tapas-style is my absolute favorite because I’m that person who sincerely wants to try as many things on a menu as possible(much to the annoyance of my company at any given time), finding this out about Colicchio & Sons was a dream come true. I came here with my dad(take your sugar daddy or your actual dad… how else will you be able to pay for this???) and we quickly discovered that the service here was top notch. I’m pretty sure we had five different servers at any given time. While this *did* make it a bit confusing(«did you decide on a cocktail yet?» … «Someone already came and took my order…» OR «can I interest you in the dessert menu? … «We haven’t received our last course yet), overall I was pleased with how attentive everyone was. So, given that this place serves you appetizer-sized dishes, you order as you would at a tapas bar. Between two people, around 4 – 6 dishes is the norm. My dad and I ordered five, which ended up being the perfect amount of food. The menu is split up into cold appetizers, hot appetizers(seafood and pasta) and entrée-style courses(red meats, meaty fishes). What we ordered(ranked — best to worst isn’t fitting because nothing was even close to bad — I’ll say ranked on my «deliciosity spectrum» on which assessment of deliciosity is all relative) *Complimentary chilled corn soup to start off the meal 1) Main lobster with sweet corn, bronze fennel and buttermilk(rich, party in your mouth) 2) Spice-Dusted Squab with Sweet Corn & Blueberries(sweet and savory combine to produce a total masterpiece) 3) Baby octopus with citrus, caramelized endive and chorizo vinaigrette(I’ve tried a lot of octopus in my life, and this is tied for the best octopus I’ve ever had — texture was perfectly tender and not too chewy, as octopus typically is) 4) Blue cheese agnolotti with heirloom tomato and basil 5) Prawns with green tomato chutney, grilled scallions and sea beans(you see its body/face in all its glory — don’t get this if that kind of thing freaks you out) *Complimentary coffee cake — «perhaps for tomorrow’s breakfast» Putting these in order is incredibly difficult because really, the first four items were so damn tasty and unique in their own ways that attempting to really compare each course is a lesson in futility. That said, I was not a huge fan of the tomato chutney that the prawns were served over. My dad enjoyed it — just not my thing. Otherwise, everything was incredibly flavorful and beautifully prepared. I appreciate that these preparation aren’t overly complex — instead, simple flavors are elevated to near-godly standards. Lastly, I’ll just cover the drinks because I’d be remiss if I didn’t. I ordered: –The Conversation Piece: Raspberry-infused Gin, Honey, Lemon Juice, & Chile Tincture –The Hudson Shandy: Rye Whiskey, IPA, Apricot Brandy & Lemon Nothing wildly impressive here given I’ve experienced what I believe to be some of the best cocktails in the city. That said, SPICYGINDRINK! Major props for the chili tincture. I love a good chili tincture. And no, I did not think I’d ever utter/type a sentence like that. And the Hudson Shandy was odd in the best kind of way. When I see rye, IPA and brandy combined in a cocktail, my curiosity lobe(yes, I believe I was born with an extra lobe in my brain simply for this) started firing. So I went with my gut and was not disappointed. This cocktail is certainly strange, but it’s essentially a posh and more alcoholic version of your typical summer shandy. Far, far better, though. Refreshing and wakes up the taste buds. Deliberation: Tom Colicchio still has my heart. That is all.

This is true fine dining. No chicken wings or nuggets. This requires you to let the chef take over and bring new flavors to your plate. Amazing flavors up and down the menu. Exceptional wine list and knowledgeable sommelier. The staff are very polite and helpful. Juan the bartender is charming and dedicated to ensuring customer satisfaction. No cutoffs and tank tops here. This is a sport jacket at minimum. Well behaved children will have a great time. The staff is fun and playful as well. The Ladies room needs some attention. Bring your credit card because this isn’t a cheap meal but it is worth every penny.
