This place is now closed. Their sandwiches were really good – I particularly liked the Fuego sandwich. Each meal came with popcorn that, for a period of time, also included a brownie. Their closure was definitely unexpected. I got lunch from their early last week and it looks like it may have closed over the weekend. I didn’t see any signs announcing its closure either.

Their Fuego Salad was on firee! Best croutons ever and the spicy jalapenos made the salad that much better. However, I did find a small fly and a gooey worm looking thing in my take-out salad and had to throw the rest of it out. I was extremely disappointed by that :(I would have given Chopping Block 5 stars but cleanliness is a big issue for me.

Great place for lunch and dinner in the financial district. My personal favorite is the Badass BBQ Brisket sandwich. The meat is high quality and not dry at all. I have also tried their coffee and is better than most other coffee shops in the area. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Very chic setup and a very comforting atmosphere. I will be back again to try the other options such as the don’t be shellfish sandwich which looks amazing.

I don’t walk this far for lunch often, but happened to pass this place earlier in the week and was curious what it was about. Then, coincidentally, I looked at what was nearby on my LevelUp app, and it popped up with a coupon. Normally I prefer not to spend more than $ 10 on lunch(the prices start at $ 10), but LevelUp showed a credit on my account if I tried this place. I went with the Turkey Fable salad. The carved turkey was good, and the salad overall with the meet, onions and avocado was a big portion. I forgot to ask what the salad dressing options are, and wasn’t asked for a preference, so I received some sort of ranch dressing by default.(I would have preferred one that is not dairy or mayo-based.) My salad didn’t come with croutons, as it states on the menu, and per the website the salad also comes with popcorn(«Salad w/Croutons and Popcorn») but I didn’t get any popcorn either. I read Unilocal reviews before checking the place out and was looking forward to the popcorn. Overall it was a filling salad, I like that it was fresh turkey instead of cold cuts… but I don’t see myself coming here very often since it isn’t a short walk, it isn’t cheap, and I was missing a couple things from my order.

Wow! I am sorry I didn’t write a review for this place — I thought I did. This is one of my favorite places around work. The staff are friendly and so chill and they’re super attentive! The food is fresh and the combination of flavors are on par. I always get the Euro and do not feel bad about myself because it’s healthy… AND tasty. They give you free popcorn on the side of your order and that just makes it so much better too! You go into this place and it just seems like home — probably because of the strange. but COOL furniture hah. The coffee is pretty delicious too — they accept the cups app which makes everything easier. One of my fav baristas is there!!! :)

This is one of my regular lunch spots! I looooove the fuego salad! It’s a mix of greens topped with chicken, avocado, tomatoes, jalapeños, and cilantro. The chipotle dressing is deeeelicious. FUEGO! I can’t bring myself to order anything else, but I’m sure that everything is probably delicious. I really like that every order comes with a side of buttery black pepper popcorn. I see it as an extension of my salad. I can munch on it the entire afternoon!

Ambiance was pretty swanky chic, hipster if you will. The rumor is true, popcorn comes with each sandwich order. There aren’t many options on the list so you better be okay with 4 themes. But, the few items they have are executed wonderfully. I got the Fuego salad and was pleasantly surprised. The ingredients(even jalepenos!) were fresh and chicken was well seasoned. The portion was good, not too filling and not too small. LBR though, for a $ 10 salad I expect nothing less. A great lunch sit-down spot with a group of 3 – 5. The living room tables/chairs make it a great place for a lunch meeting. If its a «to stay» order, the staff bring the meal right to you in a to-go box so you don’t need to ask for additional materials when you leave. Overall great lunch spot, left extremely satisfied and will be going back!

I love the atmosphere. It was quite we got to sit at the comfy table and just relax during out lunch break. I asked the cashier what the most common item on the menu was order and she was quick to say the Fuego. She really was polite, patient, and listened well. I asked her the process of ordering to ensure I wasn’t do the wrong thing and explained in detail. I ordered my food and while I was standing in line I asked if they had any Unilocal offers, because I am checking in now(I’m still trying to get in the habit of actually checking in before hand). She said«I don’t think so». As soon as I sat down my friend checked in and got something. We brought it to their attention and they honored to offer the deal to all of us. Which was really nice of them. Over the top customer service. I got my tasty sandwich and it was served with flavorful popcorn. I ate the popcorn as if it was going out of style. I did order some water, which was a good thing, because my sandwich did have a KICK(I knew it did), but everyone else ate their sandwich without actually having anything to drink. I thought my chicken was tasty, the dressing/sauce was great, and overall was satisfied with my $ 10 sandwich. I will be back to try other sandwich.

Just had an amazing lunch here! I went in at 1PM and ordered the Roast Beast salad. They were so fast which is unusual for a lunch spot in FiDi. The woman working behind the register was so friendly. Another employee even came over to me while I was waiting asking if I was waiting for anything else. He ran immediately to get the iced tea that hadn’t come out yet. This is A+ service. Now the food. The Roast Beast was SO delicious. The dressing was light but extremely tasty and the meat was high quality. I can see myself craving this weekly. Kudos to this restaurant for running a great place!

Turkey salad was delivered with a live fly in it. It looked like the type of fly that hangs out around food, which makes me think this is a health code problem with this restaurant. I opened the box and it was just sitting there on a piece of cheese. Didn’t even bother to fly away. I had to throw out part of the salad(made the leap of faith that he didn’t have friends buried in the lettuce). Overall salad was tasty but there is CLEARLY a health code issue. Also suspicious that this restaurant doesn’t come up in the health code registry with a grade.

Saw the pictures of the sandwiches and i couldnt resist to give this place a try. Came here for lunch and wanted to dine-in. We ordered at the counter and sat down on one of the tables provided. There are a few tables and its nicely spaced out. The staff is friendly but it took approximately 25 minutes for our sandwiches to be ready. We ended up having it packed to go. My eggplant panini was really good. The texture is just right and it was so flavorful. My friend wanted to kill me for recommending this place at first due to the wait, but after eating the sandwiches, all was forgiven. Order ahead and enjoy!

Very nice ambience! We checked in here and we had free chocolate cookie in the offer but because they were finished, the girl at the casher told us that we could choose between the pastries at the bar! I take a roll with apple and it was delicious and the almond croissant took by my friend as well! A kind of a strudel! Also took a citrus green tea, very good! We sit at the table and they brought us our stuff also if it’s not in their duty! Very kind and friendly stuff! Big and modern spot! Be back when I’ll get in this location! The bathroom is downstair and it was clean although it was snowing!

Oh yell yeah. Looking for something different on a workday I decided to bust open the seamless account and peruse for food. Figured I would give this spot a shot and ordered a Fuego — I had no idea what was on a Fuego. Order arrived in about 20 minutes from FiDi to Tribeca, and man alive was it good! The Fuego(cajun chicken basically) was perfectly portioned and the flavors all worked well together. It came with a side of pop corn, which is kind of weird, and I hate popcorn so I didn’t eat it, but +1 for creativity there. I definitely want to order from here again and try a different sandwich.

This place is a hidden gem on one of the off streets in the financial district. I’m surprised how busy this place can get. I love the deco of the place. There’s personality in all of the furniture and i even get my own heater. I ordered the fuego as a salad and it’s everything that I love. Spicy chicken, jalapeños, chipotle sauce, cilantro. AMAZING! And every meal comes with free popcorn! On top of that, the service is really great. They bring the food to your table and make sure that everything is good and going alright. The only thing I would say is, more seating please! I don’t mind sharing a big table with other people but there is definitely enough space for 1 – 2 more tables. Still overall, this place gets and easy 5. I’m so glad to have stumbled upon it randomly :) i will definitely be back!

I’ve been here a few times, but it was today’s ridiculously delicious brisket salad that compelled me to let you know how great this place is. I’m not a fan of brisket, I only eat it when my mom makes it, cuz I’ve sworn no one’s brisket is better than my mom’s. But Julia, the cashier, recommended the brisket salad. It’s really a sandwich, but can be made into a salad. How cool is that! The salad showed up and just glancing at it you can tell the meat was so soft and tender just waiting to be devoured and melt in my mouth. Sure enough, it was well seasoned and tender. How tender? No knife needed. That little plastic fork went right through it. I’ve also had the Goddess Salad — yummy Fuego sandwich — spicy deliciousness — not spicy like ‘OMG my mouth’s on fire’ but have some water on hand. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. But I’m sure soon enough I’ll try EVERYTHING on their menu. This place is definitely a hidden gem in the neighborhood. Love it!

Feeling only peckish and it being brisk outside, went with a very good carrot ginger soup(which came with 2 types of small breadsticks for dipping) that was nearly covered by the $ 4 credit here via LevelUp City Pass. The staff said they’d accept the Unilocal checkin offer for a free chocolate chip cookie, but didn’t provide one; when I checked on it, they said they ran out of cookies and offered a nice green tea instead. There’s an awkward apartment-based restroom downstairs. Transaction Amount $ 5.39 Credit Applied — $ 5.39 Hot chocolate(quite good, and actually prepared to order) + $ 1 pastry when added to a beverage(decent fudgy brownie) Transaction Amount $ 4.94 Credit Applied — $ 4.00 Total Spent $ 0.94

Respectable coffee shop option in Financial District: coffee, Wi-Fi, board games — and did I mention gourmet sandwiches? Their cleverly-named roast beef sandwich(the Roast Beast) isn’t bad, but their crowd-pleaser is the pork belly BLT($ 12-ish; credit accepted). Saucy and full of flavor, the diced pork hits the spot. For a BLT it’s complicated-looking, though not as much as their head-turning 10×10 Rubik’s cube. Sandwiches — at least the ones I’ve seen — come packed with popcorn, in a packing peanut kind of way. Stop in for a bite, a cup, and relax. Challenge your neighbor to a friendly game of chess? Winner buys the next coffee. I can’t imagine hitting them up for a sandwich daily — their cheapest sandwich is $ 10(before tax!) — but coffee? Yes.

With Chopping Block’s selection of sandwiches, salads and soup, you’ll be «chomp, chomp, chomping» on your food in no time! I had the Fuego(Roasted Spicy Chicken, Pepper Jack Cheese, Chipotle Dressing, Creamy Avocado and Cilantro). Oh my! Walking in the brisk cold was worth it for this sandwich that made my tongue excited with its strong spice and tender chicken. The bread had just enough crunch and was very good. Unfortunately, the avocado was lost in all in the ingredients. My friends had the Naughty Ham and Swiss(Applewood Smoked Ham, Swiss Cheese, Tomato, Cilantro, and Spicy Chipotle Dressing) and Tuna Salada(A Deluxe Recipe Tuna Salad, Mixed Greens and Tomato). Both claimed these were delicious, and I could see the satisfaction in their eyes with every bite they took — guess it was indeed quite a naughty lunch. As per the venue and overall experience, there are 3 tables that sit 4 to 6 people(perhaps more if you squeeze in) and games of domino or chess available, making this sandwich spot a good place to have a fun, laid-back and casual group lunch. We arrived here around 12:30 on a cold Wednesday, and I was happy to see that it wasn’t packed. Our orders also came in a to-go box(even if you said«to stay») for an easy«need-to-get-back-to-work» getaway as well as popcorn.

I came here last night on a first date to meet up with for coffee. Sadly she was a little late and i had a chance to speak to the staff. Here’s what i ascertained: — This wonderful little coffee shop is brand new at only a month or two old. — They make all their sandwich meats in house which means roasting the roast beef and all the chicken and what not — they’re not using some boars head stuff — they do it all there so freshness is never an issue. — The coffee/latte’s/hot chocolates are all amazing(i can attest i had the hot chocolate it was probably the best hot chocolate i had in a long time) Here’s what i noticed: — This place is a somewhat of a hidden gem — with several large tables and a few small ones, it’s good for hanging out for a few hours or just grab and go. — The tables are large comfortable — the smaller tables are for a pair or so. — It’s nice and warm inside and pretty comfortable, although maybe i’d like them to have a little more comfortable seating. Ideally i’d like to come back, bring my laptop, do some work and look like a hipster in this coffee/sandwich shop. I intend to do that in the near future while working on whatever i need to do on my laptop when i have free time and need to get away from my apartment. I just wonder how the staff will take it. Plus i don’t know if they have wi-fi and mind if you sit there and just buy a coffee and hang out.

Update: No brownies when I last went. Popcorn still included. I came in because the place had lots of great reviews. The reason is because they give you popcorn and a brownie included with each sandwich. The first time this happens, you feel like you’re opening presents on Christmas. The eggplant sandwich that I got was good enough to warrant another visit. With generous amounts of hummus on one side and pesto on the other, this sandwich was packed with flavor. The next time I want popcorn and brownies, this will definitely be the place to go. It’s weird, if I don’t want these extras, I would feel like I was wasting them.
