My birthday today. No shout out. I ordered a drink, I had to sign 10 receipts. Nobody knew what was going on. All I ordered was 2 cranberry vodkas. And I ended up with 3 drinks. One of those drinks had a bottle cap inside. This is so wrong!!! Dirty. I would not recommend this place. I speak English and Spanish and the bartenders still can’t get my order right

I was thrilled with the Colombian nachos. I had never had such a delicious combination of Hispanic foods. It was a toston, fried savory plantains, topped with Colombian refried beans, pico de gallo, fresh guacamole, shredded lettuce and sour cream. It was clean, fresh, all natural, no salt, no grease. Above all it was great service. They did, in the beginning upon our arrival, say a few things in Spanish to each other before they realized we spoke Spanish they apologized to us. That was the only reason for not being 5 stars. That definitely should be addressed so I nicely mentioned it. Everything else was phenomenal! From awesome Spanish classic tunes, candlelight and a great city view: this is a must-go!

I’d love to talk about the food here, but I never got that far. Tried this place for lunch, and sat around waiting for 45 minutes, with no one updating us about the food. When we finally got tired of waiting, the waitress couldn’t care less. When we asked her, as a final gasp, if the food was coming, she said«No.», but she called the manager. All she could say when we asked«why couldn’t you let us know before» was«I know. But I don’t know. It’s not my fault.» The manager met us downstairs and opened with an excuse. «It’s not our fault. The kitchen has problems.» Still having a hard time understanding that. On our way out, a few other people who had just started eating mentioned how they had waited a full hour for their meals. No food, so I can’t talk about the size of the dishes. But they have huge helpings of excuses.

Chips and salsa are good. I liked the chicharron and guanabana with milk batido. The lulo with water was good, too. Slow service, but we didn’t mind.

Came here for lunch and I was actually blown away by the authenticity of this place for its location. Seriously blown away with how good my food was! I got the steak with rice and beans, avocado and a fried egg on top. Usually for this type of authentic meal you have to go uptown. I found this place on accident at that — but I’m so glad I did! Will certainly return when I wanna treat myself. $ 10.95 lunch special — after tax $ 11.93.

Great lunch prices for a great portion busy place depending on the day. I ordered twice at the bar and service was quick as I had to get back to work On an other day I finally had an actual break and went with a coworker to sit and enjoy., had a different dish which was the beef flautas which was amazing, the last time I ordered the mini Bandeja Paisa«loved it!» My favorite so far! So this place is a very very nice place to visit.

I ordered a chicken quesadilla off of Seamless with some Mexican Rice. The quesadilla was pretty average and more greasy than a crispy outer shell. My friend got their beef fajitas and really enjoyed it. I probably just ordered wrong.

Fresh, well prepared and good service. The guacamole was excellent, and of course their chips and salsa were great too.

The drinks are average, but the food is good. The word that comes to mind is «fresh» when you eat the food– had the taco salad, generous avocado amount and overall entrée size. My friends had enchiladas and loved them. Good place to relax with friends, low key.

Food was decent but service was slow, forgetful, and multiple parts of my meal won’t make it to the table. Portions were on par for lunch price. Won’t be back though.

WORSTPLACEEVER! I HAVENEVERFELTSORACIALLYDISCRIMINATEDAGAINSTAS I HAVEBEENHERE! My friend I thought decided to watch the colombian world cup match here upon recommendation from a friend. The nightmare began as soon as my friend sat down. Understandably, there were alot of colombian supporters in the bar. But having lived in NYC, I didnt think this was an issue as I have been to may other similiar bars. My friend and I are not hispanic or latino. We were probably the only ones there who werent that day. First off, the waitress kept pestering my friend who had arrived there befofe me about the empty seat. That was understandable. The bar was full but thats fine. It was after I arrived that her shennigans begans. We had order two sangria and a plate of guacamole and chips. There was two minutes left on the game and she comes rounds and asks if we would like to order anything else. We had actually planned on having dinner there after the game. But when we said we would order in a bit, she tells us if we dont order immediately we would have to get out and hands up the check. It doesnt end there! She had the AUDACITY to charge us 18% gratutity. We we tell her we arent leaving a tip, she says ’”this is new york, you have to pay”. NO, A TIPIS A TIP! So we left the cash for the food with no tip. I went during happy hour after work on friday. Service was friendly and accommodated our large party. Their sangria glasses were $ 5($ 7 regular price). I enjoyed my red sangria, but my friends who ordered the white found it too sweet. Some of my friends had margaritas for $ 5 as well. I also ordered their steak quesadilla($ 12) which was overpriced in my opinion, but came with guacamole and was pretty good. Chips and salsa are complimentary for the first round, but i believe $ 2.50 more or less for refills. This seems like a fun place to go for happy hour and to watch the world cup or other sports games. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4

The atmosphere is good and the food was great but the details stink. For a place that is called chips and salsa, we got a tiny amount of each(even by nyc overpriced standards) the guacamole was ok but garnished with radish to make it look good??? The drinks were overpriced for the size and the service was a group effort that fell short of even suitable. Overall disappointment but again, the good was great!

I’ve been here twice: once for lunch and once for happy hour post-work on a Friday night. The price-point is right, as I haven’t really found comparable Mexican/Columbian/latin restaurants in the area. Friday happy hours are loud. There’s a DJ playing a mix of 90s music, latin music, and maybe some contemp pop. Service is a bit slow with the crowds. And if you’re upstairs, don’t expect to get your drinks anytime soon, you’re better off heading to the bar. The atmosphere is fun and festive, and the chips & salsa are free, but just be sure to go in knowing that. For lunch, the place is active but conversational(quiet enough to hold a conversation but not so quiet that you feel awkwardly loud). The food is fine, I got the taco salad and a friend got the nachos. Both were good, though nothing spectacular. They were large portions at least. Another friend had tacos, and those delivered. The meat wasn’t too chewy and the sauces worked well. They’re on my list for delivery/take-out the next time I want mexican. 3 stars since the food didn’t particularly«wow» and it feels like the place hasn’t really found its groove yet. It’s still new though, so perhaps it’ll pivot into something awesome.

We came because I purchased an Amazon deal. Never been to or heard of this place but thought my Colombian boyfriend would appreciate it. We came on a Friday night and the bar crowd was just getting started. We made a B-line for the upstairs restaurant t area. The music from downstairs was blaring so loud that you could still hear it perfectly upstairs. The DJ mixed the best if the 90s with Spanish mix, which I usually think is fun, but I was trying to enjoy a nice dinner with my BF, so I didn’t appreciate it as much. When we sat down they gave us some free chips and salsa, which was nice, but with a restaurant name of «Chips & Salsa» I expected them to be phenomenal and they were just ok. For an appetizer we ordered empanada’s. The waitress told us that we get three so we ordered one chicken and two beef. Instead, what we got was one beef and two chicken. The chicken was just ok but the beef was way better. For dinner my boyfriend ordered a Colombian dish, and I don’t remember the name, but he was pleased with his plate. I ordered a Mexican dish, the enchilada’s suiza’s…my go to Mexican dish. Since this is what I usually order at a Mexican spot, I have a number of places to compare it to, and it was just ok. Again, nothing special and not the best I’ve ever had. I asked for some more chips and even though we had plenty of salsa left they brought us more. I was confused at first, but later when i got the check realized… they charged us for the extra complementary chips we asked for! I was shocked but just paid the bill without asking for the extra $ 2.95 to be taken off. While I did pay the bill, I do think it’s really bad business to charge for something that you gave complementary to your customers. I only asked for chips, not salsa and if they had to change me, they should have said something before bringing it over. While the food came out in a timely manner, the service was very un-attentive. Our waitress was not concerned about us and she was slow with getting us refills that we asked for. She hardly spoke to us and didn’t seem like she wanted to be there. I was going to give a 2 star rating buy my boyfriend really liked the food and wanted me to give it a 4 star. We always compromise. :)

I’ve b een to Chips & Salsa twice. The first time for lunch on a weekend day when it was fairly slow and we had a great, very attentive waitress and the good was pretty good. I got the Carne Asada tacos lunch special. So the other night after the Rockefeller Christmas Tree lighting I went out of my way to go back to get out of the crowds and grab a very late bite to eat and my entire experience was a train wreck. They were clearly understaffed and underequipped for the rush they got that night. Firstly, I stood at the front of the restaurant for nearly 10 minutes before anyone cam came to seat me. In the meantime, 3 other groups walked in right past me and were greeted near the bar and sat quickly. Once seated, it, incredibly, took another 10 minutes for me to actually have a waitress come over to see me and that was only after I asked a manager who my server was supposed to be. When she made it over she was very apologetic, thanked me for my patience and quickly took my order. But it took another at least 10 minutes, maybe longer for her to bring the sangria I’d ordered and I had to ask again for a water which I’d asked for at the same time I did the sangria. The sangria was a bit pricey and very tasty and they did come by and bring me some complimentary chips and salsa(normally they’re 3 bucks which I think is a racket since most Mexican restaurants give them to you) but that was a nice touch. About another 10 minutes in(so 30 minutes from my arrival time) an enchiladas order came to my table that was not only mine, it was for one of the tables that came in after I did and was seated near me. It too nearly another 15 minutes for me to get my food(which was also enchiladas) and it was now nearly 10pm and a good 45 minutes after I walked in the restaurant. As that point, I thought well at least I’ll get some good Mexican food FINALLY. But my Chicken enchiladas suiizas were not hot so they’d likely been sitting in the kitchen for quite awhile before they came to me. It was already so late and I was so hungry at that point, I wasn’t going to send them back. And the, as if the whole experience hadn’t been bad enough, three bites in to my enchiladas, I bit down on a big piece of cartilage. So so gross. And that would happen not once, not twice, but 3 times more. I will not be back to Chips & Salsa. Time to find a new Mexican spot.

These folks are great. Came here with a large group after we got out of class around 9:30pm. They were extremely friendly, helpful, and overall our experience was awesome. Our group had a bunch of things but I had the quesadilla. I was surprised. By surprised I mean as surprised as you can be to consume the best quesadilla you’ve ever had. I didn’t really expect much, but damn. It was like that scene in «Once Upon a Time in Mexico». How can a quesadilla be that good? Order one and find out for yourself. Drinks were good and the staff was friendly and attentive to us. Plenty of seating upstairs, a big plus if you’re coming with a large party. If you’re in the area and you’re craving Mexican or Colombian make sure to stop in. They def go out of their way to give you a great experience.

I’ve worked across the street from Chips & Salsa since December and never noticed it was there — very unassuming from the outside. 2 coworkers took me here for a birthday lunch and it was great! We started with some midday margaritas(shh, don’t tell) — watermelon mint for me, it was delicious and refreshing! For my lunch entrée I had Enchiladas Suizas, and my coworkers had the Enchiladas de Carne O Pollo. It’s a good deal for lunch — around $ 10 – 12 for 2 enchiladas and a full plate of rice and beans on the side. My enchiladas were delish, and my coworkers gobbled theirs up as well. Our waiter Ricardo was nice and friendly and accommodating… and brought us out tequila shots on the house since it was my birthday(oy vey). While we were waiting for the check, the staff brought over a flan with a candle in it and all sang happy birthday to me! Talk about going above and beyond, it was so fun! Overall this is a great restaurant for lunch for the amount of food you get and the reasonable price, and the staff is great. Will definitely be back.
