I had higher hopes for this place. I have gotten a sandwich on two separate occasions here and they have just fallen flat(both times was within 2 – 3 weeks of when they first opened). — They have a very extensive sandwich list. — Free wifi, so there are always a bunch of ppl in there working/hanging out I’m tempted to give it another shot as it is literally across the street from me and it has been a while since I’ve last dropped by. I’ll try it out and post an update. I mean it is better than subway.

Cassiopeia Café has a warm spot in my heart because my friend introduced it to me. But it also has a warm approval on Unilocal as being a great neighborhood café that will surprise you with the quality of its food. Coffee is good, service is congenial, and food is delicious! I had the Slim Down Bella sandwich quite a while ago and I still remember its name. That being said, I love the quirkiness of this place; everything is so idiosyncratic to Cassiopeia, you’ll never even see your generic«Roast Beef Sandwich» scribbled across the menu. It will have a special name, special ingredients, and special flavor. It will stick with you. Come here.

4.5 stars… Cassiopeia is definitely not what I was expecting from looking at the pictures. Its long interior with a bench and tables ends in a deli like counter where you order/pay for your food. They have a little display case of pasteries/desserts but there’s only a few options there. The majority of their menu is sandwiches/paninis/wraps but they do have salads, burgers, and a few entrees. I came here for breakfast(served until 1pm) and got the blueberry pancakes($ 5.50). These were the best blueberry pancakes I’ve had in years, YEARS. They were perfect including the use of fresh blueberries. The only reason I rounded down with the rating is that they asked when I ordered if I wanted my food to stay or go and I say to stay yet they packed it up to go, they easily transferred it to a proper plate when I reminded them I wanted to stay. He also asked the most bizarre question one could ask to someone eating pancakes: «did you want syrup?». Umm, yeah, thanks. He only brought over 3 little packets of syrup. I made it work but it wasn’t easy. Of course I could have gotten more but I didn’t care to go through the trouble. Anyway, this was the best breakfast I’ve had for under $ 6 and will definitely be back for more. UPDATE: I’ve been back for more. This time I got a bacon and cheese omelete with fresh fruit and wheat toast. Astonishingly for only $ 5.75(after tax). They obviously only used a kraft single for the cheese and it was barely melted but they definitely didn’t skimp on the bacon and it was properly cooked. The fruit salad was fresh and had a good variety of fruit. The only place they dropped the ball is giving me a piece of toast with nothing on it and nothing to put on it either. It was like the time I got pancakes and they asked if I want syrup. Yes, pancakes are eaten with syrup and toast is generally buttered. This might be the next best breakfast I’ve ever had under $ 6.

Glad to have this around the corner! Really yummy breakfast sandwiches, great salads and regular sandwiches too! Haven’t had something I didn’t like and I’ve been there about 10 times already.

Fries aren’t very good. Food was cold. Veggie burger was pretty good though.

My boyfriend got the turkey and cranberries hero for us to split after I got off work. It was pretty good, light with good taste. they give plenty of meat which is a plus. But the bread was slightly harder than I prefer.

A little café named after our favorite W-shaped constellation… I ordered a couple sandwiches for delivery the other night. I had the Cassiopeia sandwich: Grilled Chicken breast with Cheddar cheese, grilled mushrooms, avocado and garlic aioli on a Ciabatta hero and it was lick-the-wrapper good! I also got a turkey, brie and green apple sandwich to eat for breakfast on my way to the Brooklyn Half on Saturday morning. It wasn’t bad, but it can’t hold a candle to the Cass’ Sandwiches are good sized and fairly priced. Will certainly eat here again.

Foodgasm on so many different levels… so I just moved around the corner from this place a few weeks ago and, let me tell you, after having just one taste of this unassuming little wonder, Cassi had me hooked like the chap who finally finds his favourite neighborhood prostitute(fortunately for me, an hour of pleasure here doesn’t cost very much, and I don’t think I have to worry about catching anything… I hope). So what can I say? I’m a glutton for good eats. For my initial consultation, I went with the chef’s suggestion — the California but on a ciabatta hero instead of a wrap. Damn. That was a good suggestion… great portion, ingredients seemed fresh, and the avocado was actually ripe, creamy, flavorful avocado. See, I’m from Southern California where good avocado grows in everyone’s backyard, almost invasively, so it strikes a chord when they get it right over on this coast. The chipotle flavor in the chicken was great too. And I think this became two meals. It was like double the pleasure and double the fun, with Boar’s head chipotle chicken and blue cheese dressing. Additionally, over the past couple of days I’ve been getting sausage egg and cheese on a roll from here too which tastes awesome, just like the dirty, greasy, street cart ones I used to get downtown, except the coffee I get from Cassi is a lot better than the street cart swill for $ 1.50. I feel like I’m going to have a heart attack after each one, so that means they’ve totally got it right. Today’s adventure was the chipotle chicken(ok I have this bias against plain grilled chicken… it just seems so boring to me) but whatever, maybe I’ll get over my bias and give the grilled chicken a fair trial at some point. Anyway, the chipotle mayo is superb… as good or better than the stuff down at Peels in the EV. So far 2 for 2 on the sandwiches. And as I was about to depart, I noticed they have a little pastry cabinet with some specialty little cakes and stuff, but most importantly croissants and pain au chocolat… o boy. I just might have to try one in the morning instead of… scratch that… along with my heart attack inducing SE+C.

This has become my new go-to place when I want something quick or light. When you order an omelette«well done» it’s actually cooked that way, not the yellow icky-looking stuff you get at so many places. The sandwiches and wraps are tasty and I often get a soup, all of which have been flavorful and not overly salted. Friendly service and reasonable prices, generally speaking. Their baked goods are underwhelming but are probably supplied by some truck rather than made on the premises, so that’s fairly typical. Still, highly recommended!

Now I bought my sandwiches to go for the long flight I was having to Rome so note by the time I actually ate my sandwiches they were cold. I got the Angry Chicken and the Taurus. I wasn’t too big of a fan of the Angry Chicken. I went for it after the reviews here but I probably should of known since Ive never been a huge fan of chicken cutlet. However, the Taurus was amazing. It was grilled chicken with balsamic and other stuff I cant remember. This, even cold and hours later, was amazing. I’d definitely have to come back to New York and give their other sandwiches a try.

This cheery neighborhood café opened only about 6 months ago, but I suspect it will be around for a long time. The owners are affable and eager to please. They take obvious pride in the food, which is fresh and a terrific value. I got one of the tasty chicken paninis, a very generous portion for $$ 6.50, perfectly packaged to go. There are a million sandwich choices, augmented with soups and salads. Breakfast is served til 1pm, offering everything from muffins to egg sandwiches to pancakes, omelets, and oatmeal and granola with multiple toppings. Lots of coffee options, obviously, but a cup of regular was just about perfect. As in: I-would-make-a-detour-for-this-beverage perfect. Simple décor includes an old pressed-tin ceiling, which adds some charm. Music could use a little fine-tuning(I was serenaded with«Livin’ on a Prayer, which I could live without.) There are 6 – 8 tables, and everything is scrupulously clean. Unfortunately, the free wifi was so slow as to be unusable. I did appreciate, however, that they’ve located the electric outlets high on the walls – very welcoming for those in need.

Great new neighborhood spot. I think they just opened this fall. There bagels are usually very fresh and I enjoy their lox spread a lot. Prices are reasonable. They also have free wifi and lots of places to plug in if you are planning to eat there.

Yum. Got the Angry Chicken Sandwich after reading the good review here. It did not disappoint. The chicken cutlet was served hot(all the way through the sandwich) and I liked how the breadcrumb crust was crunchy as opposed to some places that re-heat the cutlet and let the breadcrumbs turn soggy. The arrabbiata sauce(spicy marinara) was good. It didn’t taste like some gross ragu jar stuff. It tasted fresh and was the perfect level of spicy. The thin mozzarella on top of the cutlet was melted and the fresh basil leaves only added to the lightness and made-to-order feel of the sandwich. Finally, the bread was high quality and great. Will definitely go back. Finally, a place besides Subway to get a freakin sandwich in the neighborhood.

This little café just opened up near our place and we wanted to drop by for a sandwich. They have an extensive menu of sandwiches, wraps, and paninis with some unique combinations. We tried the Tuscan and Chicken Parmesan paninis, and I thought both were pretty tasty. The ingredients in the Tuscan panini tasted particularly fresh. My only complaint about the paninis was that the bread was not really toasted enough so the ingredients inside were only lukewarm. The staff at this café are very friendly, and their coffee looks pretty tasty too. They do have free WiFi if you want to grab a cup of coffee and surf the internet.

Neat little café that just opened up around the block. Dropped in today for a coffee and cappuccino. Good to see that they were open in spite of Hurricane Sandy. Many places close by were not open. The actual place has an easygoing vibe and décor to it. Free wifi is a big plus and they have outlets to use to charge up your computers or phones. Not a big place so seating is limited, but it did look clean. Already were a bunch of wifi hogs there — LOL! They offer a nice menu of gourmet sandwiches, paninis, wraps, breakfast items, salads, burgers, daily soups, vegan options, pastries, and more. There are some decent healthy choices such as egg white wraps, grilled chicken options, and salad combos. Daily meal specials too. Food is made to order. Guys behind the counter were friendly and courteous. My coffee was a bit too strong and on the bitter side, but the cappuccino was just right with good foam. The other day the coffee was much better. Free delivery and catering too. I like small biz like this in my hood and will continue to support them. Many sandwiches to choose from that I gotta try!

Very nice, courteous staff. Good food from what I’ve tried. Not too busy, but I’m sure that’ll change. Free wifi is good. And they get props for not closing too early on account of Hurricane Sandy. Will definitely be back many times to come!

Healthy and Delicious! The baked goods are all top notch and the bread was way better than your average deli, really helps to set the sandwiches apart. Ordered the Cassiopeia sandwich and it was obvious that the chicken was cooked to order, well seasoned, super tender and juicy. The sandwich came with a garlic aoli that is also clearly made in-house and some tasty fried mushrooms. The sandwich, which was large to begin with, was served with fries and i could barely finish my plate. Ordered some grape leaves to go and was elated at how delicious they were despite being eaten several hours later. Incredible meal and i would highly recommend this café. Will be returning soon!
