The only reason I would come to this place is because it’s a good spot to watch soccer. Other than that, the food is really bad; plain and flavorless. Drinks are nice. We had a reservation last night to watch copa America and there was no waiter to be seen for over a hour. It’s still okay to go watch a big game, but don’t expect any table sevice… perhaps byob?

If you’re coming to watch a game and just grab some drinks, you could do worse(or much better) but if you’re going to eat, go somewhere else. The drinks are overpriced with the cheapest beer being their house brew for $ 7 and if presented the option, I’d rather pay $ 7 to not drink it. Really not good. I ordered the fish tacos, which came with 3 tacos for an insane $ 17. The tortillas were terrible and while the fish was okay(though I’m being a little generous), paying that much for bad tacos is unforgivable. The atmosphere for the Colombia-Peru game was great and they really capitalize on that because nowhere else can a bar get away with charging that much for shitty food and drinks. Definitely won’t be back.

Great bar, great ambiance, great Mexico crowd for the Copa America. However, the bouncer is rude and egotistical. He’s been spending time talking to girls instead of keeping count of the folks leaving and coming out. There has been 30+ people existing, but only 10 or so folks coming in. Get rid of this bald shallow excuse of a gentleman.

This place has some ways to go. I came here with a meetup group(about 20 people) for drinks on a Tuesday at 9pm because it wasn’t packed and had room for us. The bartenders all woke up on the wrong side of the bed apparently. They walk away before you can finish saying your order. You can’t wait 3 seconds for us to pick a tequila?! You also can’t sit at a table if you don’t order food, or have a drink ordered at the bar at the table– even though the place isn’t packed at all. Poor staff attitude, mediocre $ 14 margaritas, weird rules for an empty place on a Tuesday night. We would not visit again.

Absolute mess. I had a reservation booked for 8 people for tonight. Friends from all over the city coming in to watch the NBA finals. I received a call from Campeon with them telling me they cannot honor my reservation anymore… for no reason. Naturally so you would want some sort of explanation as to why… the hostess told me they were overbooked and my reservation is not valid anymore. I asked if there was anything she could do whether it be waitlist or anything as I had 8 people coming into NYC… she said I’m better off looking for another restaurant and didn’t really care. Unreal. If you want somewhere that doesn’t care about ruining your plans or making things right, this is the place for you.

Food was just ok and menu pretty limited. There are some decent mains but no small dishes which makes it difficult if you want to try a few different dishes. However the worst part was operational — I was one of only a few diners in there from 1pm until 3pm, and they managed to seat me for the duration at a table in the middle of the restaurant used for interview overflow candidates. Disaster? No. But very uncomfortable to eat a meal at a table where 12 other people aren’t eating or drinking and where management constantly enquires about documentation is just annoying. Especially when there are 30 other tables available. Just sloppy and careless for over 2 hours. Not like one can asked to be moved. But they should have just moved me to avoid the situation. But no one cares, which is the reason for the low rating.

Horrible, poor service. Overpriced the food … I had a table and the waiters refused to take my order.

First round of drinks took over 16 minutes to arrived. The food even worst 23 minutes for only chips and guacamole, the main course 35 minutes. Forget about the second round of drinks, on a Tuesday night, not happening again! Campeon Bar & Authentic Mexican Cuisine, oh no, I don’t think so, more like a tex-mex restaurant.

When I give more than 20% tip I want it to be because the staff, service, and atmosphere were great. not because I was TRICKED into it … I’m only giving 2 instead of 1 because the waitresses were nice indeed

This place sucks. No self-respecting«Mexican» place caters to frat boys on a Cinco de Mayo(which only ONE town in Mexico actually celebrates contrary to what all the idiots in NYC think, a town my good friend is actually from) AND serve $ 14 margaritas in plastic cups. Unfortunately, this was my first experience at Campeon, and after having to endure a frat boy crowded«Mexican» spot on May 5th purposely serving overpriced booze and playing top 40’s, I have enough integrity not to return. Also, the irony of having Mexican servers serve all these gringos on Cinco de Mayo… Like, EW. Que asco!

I would give this place no stars if I could! Please explain to me how I made a reservation over a month ago for Cinco De Mayo(for a decent size party), the staff member said they could accommodate and took the reservation. All is well with the planning, until I receive a phone call this week that they can’t take our reservation, and there’s nothing they can do for us. That is not the proper way to handle the situation, nor is it a good way to have my guests and I ever want to come back to your establishment. So the staff and management receive no stars for all the lack of assistance. I would recommend going to a different place for cinco de mayo– try Rosa Mexicano!

What a mess. We waited for a table, finally got seated. After about 20 minutes, we flagged down a waitress to take our dinner order. 5 people ordered 5 items, and ultimately 4 dishes came out. We thought… ok maybe the quesadilla is late. After 5 min we flagged the waitress down and asked, she said the 5th person didn’t order anything. We said yes he did, she confirmed the order verbally. She continued to deny, so we said no thanks we’ll skip it at this point. Bill arrives – THEQUESADILLAISONTHETAB. Unbelievable. They took it off but come on… poor service, accusatory, and overpriced. For 3 small tacos, the plate was $ 18?!

Very delicious, good happy hour, great for sports — especially if you want to eat well while you watch. Great for group reservations, and a huge bar so it’s also easy to stop in with a friend. Staff was super friendly.

Great wings, great TVs, but besides the wings, food is overpriced for the quality and it’s annoying how they don’t play sound during sports games.

Super fun and lively place for an after work happy hour spot! The music is always on point and they have pretty good margaritas. The appetizers are alright– we got some guac and chips and nachos for the table. The staff isn’t always attentive, but they try! Will probably return if just looking for a good time.

Came here on a busy Thursday night around 7 and was meeting 3 of my friends. I expected it to be crazy because, duh, happy hour on a Thursday, but what I didn’t expect was the hostess to not possess the ability to give me a wait time. There were only two groups ahead of me that she informed me were being seated in the next few minutes, and yet when I asked long the wait would be I was met with a very unenthusiastic«I don’t know». Um, okay… Luckily after my friends showed up they informed me that they put us on the waiting list already so we were able to get a table pretty shortly. We got two pitchers of the skinny margarita(because our waitress told us it tasted better). It was more expensive than the regular pitcher but w.e. We also got nachos which were pretty tasty. All in all my experience was fine. There was good music and a fun crowd. Would definitely recommend making a reservation if you’re planning on coming here.

Perhaps as a sports bar, Campeon rates more stars, but we came here for the«Mexican» restaurant, and it was terrible. We arrived and the place was crowded, but thanks to unseasonably warm December weather, we could opt to sit outside. Then we waited ten minutes for anyone to take our drink order, and we added an appetizer. Ten more minutes the drinks arrived, but the server rushed away before we could place our order. Five more minutes and the taquitos arrived. They were terrible – they tasted like the sort of frozen food you’d get at, well, a sports bar. The person who delivered our appetizer wasn’t the server, so we still couldn’t place an order. Five minutes later we were done. We’d been at the place a half hour, had a lousy appetizer and hadn’t even had our order taken. We practically had to tackle the server to get our check, so it’s anyone’s guess how long it might’ve taken to order and get our food. The worst thing, however, was the behavior of the hostess. She walked past the sidewalk seats to check for empty tables and found a «to go» container someone left behind. Instead of disposing of it, she kicked it away from the restaurant into the middle of the sidewalk where we saw three people almost trip over it. Poor service. Poor food. And litterers, to boot. No thanks. If you want to watch sports and grab a beer, feel free to visit, but I couldn’t recommend this place as any sort of Mexican restaurant.

This is a solid place, especially for a sports bar. Very clean, Mexican food, TV’s all around, good music, and terrific service gets this bad boy on my top 10 for sports bars that I’ve been. Great, great, great ============== Chips and Salsa, great. Chicken Nachos, great. Bloody Mary’s, great. Special shout out ============= To Subena for excellent service and being very sweet to all.

Update: take note on a few things on sequential visits… — the service is sllooowwww and often orders come out wrong. Double check your check and also order double rounds, bc you don’t know when it will actually come out. 30 minutes for a beer is NUTS — it closes at midnight on weekends. Which would be fine, but it’s kind of a sports bar, no? When the local teams are on at 9−930pm, those games are going past midnight. Instead of understanding and keeping the bar open for another 20 – 30 min, everyone at the place(20+ people) was cut off and they started closing up shop. This happened twice. — managers– While a national team game is certainly exciting, you should probably stop your patrons from spraying beer on your customers every time they score a goal. Cheering, dancing, sh*t talking… Whatever. All fine. But when people are eating and/or watching other games on your 40 other tv’s, a beer sprinkler around your restaurant isn’t cool. Especially not the third time it happens.
