Overpriced($ 7.50 for an egg salad sandwich) and they charge $ 0.50 for a splash of soy milk. I can’t have dairy and so I hate it when places charge for non-dairy options. I can understand if I ordered a cappuccino but a drop of soy shouldn’t cost extra.

I only come here to grab a coffee and muffin for breakfast, so can’t comment on lunch. But this is probably the only place in the area that has lemon poppy muffins. I know this because for a while I was intensely craving lemon poppy muffins and actually went into every single place within a four square block radius looking for one, and no one had them — this was the only place. It was a nice surprise when I took it back to my desk to eat it and realized that it was delicious. Their coffee is good — always hot. Overall, the ordering line is a bit chaotic, but somehow everyone figures it out. They have lots of hot, prepared-to-order breakfast items, which seem to be the primary choice at breakfast. The prices are decent — not cheap or expensive.

As an administrative assistant in the McCann building, I order from Café O for catering orders practically on a daily basis. They’re very dependable and a pleasure to work with.

Solid. I eat lunch here multiple times a week — they once over charged me and gave me free lunch to make it right the next day. Nice people.

Stopped in to grab a latte. Came to me luke warm. Barely steamed. I didn’t taste espresso. The meal bars also have no price. Got a quest bar, which is usually pricy, but they charged 3.95 which is just outrageous. Reviews sound ok though. So maybe I should have tried food instead of coffee.

Completely nondescript, Café O blends in with the rest of the seemingly endless midtown lunch options… at first. Look closer, and you’ll see a treasure trove of food options at prices that will surely make you say«oh wow, that’s super reasonable.» In the mood for a SANDWICH? Choose from pretty much any deli meat on a roll or sub(err hero), a selection of pre-made panini type sandwiches ready for the grill, or choose from the specialty menu for one of their creations. Nothing over $ 7.25(sub) and a basic sandwich piled high on a roll is less than $ 6. Anything you choose comes with a free soup. Not«free broth» or free«warm water with color» but free gumbo, chili, split pea, chowder, lentil… whatever they have that day. There are usually six or more selections so you’ll definitely find something you like. Salad? Sure. I used to just go to Just Salad or Hale & Hearty and they usually pack a $ 9+ punch, but now Café O has earned a respectable spot in the mix — for less than $ 8 you get any 6 toppings and free croutons. Plus, free soup. There is also hot food, which isn’t as extensive in selection as some of the other places with buffets, but they also don’t charge per pound and the portions are generous. Plus, free soup. They also make a sweet quesadilla, which is massive absolutely and comes with all the good stuff(guac, sour cream, salsa) for the same $ 7 and change. Plus, free soup. A staple for anyone with an office within 3 or 4 blocks, plus free soup.

Let me just preface this by saying I go here all the time. My office is across the street. The salad is good and a great price compared to other places. They are fast and polite. Usually there isn’t too long of a line(though today there was). I stopped getting their soup(even though its free with salad) because it was disgusting and I could never trust that it was vegetarian. That’s why this is 3 stars instead of 4. I’ve also gotten egg and cheese on a roll there, and it was solid.

Some of the best soups in the area! They usually offer 4 – 6 different choices but man, they do a really good job with them. They don’t cheap out on the ingredients and you can tell they’re actually homemade. Their Split Pea and Lentil are very popular. And their Chicken Noodle Soup is great. The noodle they use is my favorite and there’s real shredded chicken — not just diced little unidentifiable pieces. But my favorites? Their cream soups. Cream of Spinach — so good! And Cream of Mushroom, Broccoli, Asparagus. Too bad they don’t offer it too often. They offer a free small-sized soup with any lunch.(Salads, Sandwiches, Hot-Entrée, Burrito) and free anything in midtown, is a steal. Also, love that their lunch prices are all set at around $ 7-$ 8. I get their tossed salad — 6 Any Toppings(even double meat or cheese) for a flat price. They also carry a good selection of organic, trendy, unique snacks and energy bars etc.

I work in the building that they are located so I am quite familiar with their business. Except for the fact that nothing has a price tag on it,(the old mystery price) I was quite happy with them. Recently they have moved the grill where they grill raw chicken to the from t right next to where they are cutting and preparing muffins and bagels. This in itself is wrong but on top of this the same preparer that is making the chicken will then handle muffins and bagels, I have also seen the person that is making the chicken dip the tongs into the vat of raw chicken throw them onto the grill and then place that very same tong dripping with chicken juice on top of the cooked chicken. Obviously they have no idea what they are doing.

From the outside I thought this place was something new and special, but it’s no different from all the other café places around the area. Sandwiches, paninis, salad, etc etc They do however, have quite the plethora of different little snacks and treats for you to purchase.

I am not gonna hate all over them, they have standard fare at standard rate. But I only get 1 lunch a day(unless the client is in) and I refuse to settle for standard

I work in the building like so many other reviewers and this place is convenient so I’ve given it a few tries in hopes I’ve just been unlucky in the past. While the food isn’t bad — it’s your standard quick service bagel/egg wrap/make your own salad type place, they have never once gotten my order right. It never fails that I make it back to my desk and they’ve left out some vital part of my wrap that I asked for(clear as a bell since I know they tend to disregard what you say). Sometimes they leave out the cheese or will make it with eggs instead of egg whites but sometimes they’ll just give you something totally different! You peel back the tin foil hoping to unveil your delicious breakfast only to receive sausage instead of spinach. Every time so far that I’ve been waiting for my food there is inevitably someone who will return with a problem with their order or they’ll be some kind of disagreement or confusion between a customer and one of the guys behind the counter. So confusing how they can consistently do this and at no point a manager of some kind catches on! So many wasted eggs! I suggest visiting Bagel Express around the corner instead. Very close and a much higher rating.

Went to this place for the third time last week, and just like the first 2 times, a great experience! In the flood of midtown cafes, it’s hard to have a preference for one over another but I feel like this one distinguishes itself because the food is fresh, and the service is really friendly. This past time, my fiancée and I had 2 sandwiches and 2 soups(free soup w a sandwich!). When getting my salad, the service was efficient but I didn’t feel rushed, like they were trying to push 300 people through in an hour. I got generous toppings with my salad, where every vegetable was fresh, not brown or dehydrated spots. With my soup, the server even had enough patience to accomodate my request to not have«too many noodles» in my chicken noodle soup. I think things like this is important. An average midtown day yields at least a couple of things that don’t go your way, it’s nice to have a deli where things do go your way. Lastly, the soup and sandwich came to around $ 8, instead of the usual $ 9-$ 11. As I was going out, I noticed they do catering. Lots of really nicely arranged sandwiches and desserts. Looks a lot better than what my office usually gets for sandwiches! I will be sure to mention this to my admin next time.

Compared to the overpriced Just salad down the street, you can get a salad with any six toppings(avocado, meat, whatever you want) for only $ 7.75. its a great deal for NYC in my opinion in terms of salad/lunch prices.

At some point, service becomes more important than the food. Mumbling, rude, unsmiling counter men and cashier made this a really bad experience. So-So lunch salad to go was no different than a dozen other places within one block. Skip this place.

I have been ordering catering at Café O for over 5 years now and I must say THEFOODISGREAT. My clients are always praising me about the fantastic sandwiches I order from Café O. Their prices are not bad compare to the surrounding restaurants and the staff is friendly.

THISPLACEISHORRIBLE. It doesn’t even deserve 1 star. I work in the building, so on rainy/cold days it’s tempting to just run downstairs without a coat to get lunch. BUT as convenient as it is, I’ll walk the ½ block next time to go to Delmonico’s or Bistro. Café O food is OVERPRICED, bland, bread is often hard, soups are watery, AND people find things in their food there. Plastic bottle tops in salads, etc. It’s nasty… a shame… considering everything is $ 2 — $ 3 more than anywhere else in the area. You’re better off going to CVS to grab a sandwich.

This is a standard NYC deli, but definitely not the best deli I’ve ever been to. They’re selection of chips, snacks, etc is pretty slim. I ordered from the sandwich bar, clearly specified what I wanted, and did not get what I ordered. However, all ingredients tasted ok and were pretty fresh.

Café’o is a solid option for breakfast or lunch. They have alright food and loads to choose from. I especially like the special they’ve got going on right now where pretty much everything comes with a soup! Booyah! You should take advantage of their juice bar. Nothing like some fresh squeezed juice to get you through the afternoon.
