I’m feeling a little under the weather, so I kept it simple today. My three-star breakdown: Delivery — Pretty speedy. I placed an order at 11:30am and it arrived promptly at 12:30pm. Chicken Vegetable & Pasta Soup — The ingredients were fresh, but I wish I got more of those ingredients in my soup. I only counted six pieces of chicken. A little lighter on the sodium would also be great. Egg White Omelette — In addition to my soup, I customized an omelette with ham, peppers, and swiss cheese. Slightly overcooked, but nothing ketchup can’t fix.

The salad craze in Midtown is practically as unreal as it gets. Any gourmet deli or quick-one-stop-lunch place likely has a section for building your own salad. Each one has its own pricing too, with upcharges for protein, certain vegetables, and even arugula(seriously?!). A really good salad with what you actually want will cost you a pretty penny. Now, a salad where you can choose what you actually want and not skimp out? And for less than $ 10? Now, that’s when you go to Bistro. You may miss it, but you won’t miss the line that surrounds this salad joint. Luckily, the line moves quick, unlike those gourmet deli’s, which has only a few people working the salad bar, practically half the place is devoted solely to salad(because everyone is getting salad!) — and not to mention that they are super quick too. Now, once you’re up to the point where you can choose your green, choose your green! I guarantee you that a medium 32 oz. size will suit you well because guess what my friend — it’s one meat, one cheese, and unlimited veggies. You might groan, unlimited veggies? Well veggies include more than your plain carrot, tomato, and cucumber. Let’s make it exciting and add apples, mangos, pasta salad, asparagus, and various nuts. Now, are you sold? Choose your dressing, chop or mix, and you’re all set. And I guarantee you, it will come out to less than $ 10.

Got their lunch special for lunch. Soup and half a sandwich for less than 8 $ definitely a good bargain! The pea soup was fresh and arrived hot which I don’t take for granted at all, having ordered from several places that always bring it cold! The half tuna salad sandwich was good the veggies wasn’t that fresh but the overall quality was ok. I would order from them again for sure!

Best lunch salads in NYC. These guys do it right, have great deals, and eye-wateringly good toppings, dressings, etc. Portions are great, protein plentiful. Combo deals with drink are good; each salad comes with tasty toasted bagel chips. As others have said, arrive early so they don’t run out of toppings. If you work in midtown east this place deserves a spot in your lunch rotation

Working around Grand Central, I am surrounded by the likes of Chop’t, Just Salad, Pax, etc. Bistro, however, is my go-to place for salads. Instead of paying PERTOPPING, I can ask for an unlimited amount and still pay the same price! On top of that, I get both a can of soda and some bagel chips for free. My biggest piece of advice would be to get there early. I tend to eat lunch late, so I got here at 2PM one day and all the good toppings were gone.

I love the iced and flavored hot coffee here. The fresh fruit is also pretty good(yeah I know it not cooked but it’s fresh). I’m not a fan of the hot food but have had some of the breakfast options. They’re OK. My favorite spot for an egg sandwich use to be the old Café 101. My issue with Bistro is the random and unlisted pricing on snacks and chips. It may not seem like a lot to some people but I hate getting screwed. A bag of chips for $ 2 at other stores is $ 4 here. They do not have the prices on chips or granola bars. You are told the surprising cost at the register. So annoying! I will return for the coffee but not much else.

super convenient spot for lunch if you work around the area in midtown. Staff is pretty friendly and I usually like to get their mini salad when I’m not too hungry. It’s a good size if you’re looking for something light. The price is a little less than $ 4 so I think it’s a pretty good deal, at least cheap in midtown. You can put 3 toppings on your salad, sometimes they give you more without charging extra on a good day. If you get the regular size I think it’s unlimited for the toppings.

After dealing with mobs of people at nearby Delmonico for a solid week, I decided to give the less insane Bistro New York a shot. The store is small for this kind of deli/restaurant but it has a nice open space with counters on either side serving different types of food. This morning, I ordered an omelette with onions. These guys were very cool with my particular request(one whole egg with two egg whites) and super friendly, something I really appreciated early in the morning. The omelette was good, though i did have to add some hot sauce to make it truly awesome. The service was snappy and the place looked clean and organized. I’m planning on a return visit soon!

This a good deli especially for breakfast. Try the breakfast burritos; they are terrific(I like mine with egg whites, spinach, tomato, and peppers on a spinach wrap). Also, they have good ice coffee.

Does anyone else have trouble finding a place with a large variety of soup that isn’t expensive? Finally, a place that has about 8 – 10 different soups and a large container cost 5 dollars! The soup was pretty tasty and had a lot of fillers(chicken, carrots, celery, etc…) it wasn’t just broth. They give you a free piece of bread and the servers are really friendly. I will be back for more!

I love the large selection of daily soups they have and like being able to sample them before selecting one. My problem is with the salads — they use the same set of tongs to serve each salad ingredient, so eventually you get a little bit of everything in each ingredient. Might not bother a lot of people, but if you are a vegetarian like me, you don’t want bacon bits stirred in your tofu. They could at least separate the meat from the veggies.

delicious, hot, not too salty shrimp bisque delivered to my desk in 14 minutes with a little whole wheat roll perfect for dipping. I’d like to try other items on their menu, for sure. plus they’re available on .

Our office had a Lunch and Learn catered from here, altogether the items were good. There was a wide selection of deserts, the Oreo Cookie Cake was pretty good, and the sandwiches were good; some classics, ham, turkey and roast beef, along with some new flavors, chicken, apple and raisins in a nice sauce. The pasta salad was actually good, with some salad and vegetables and feta thrown in, not bad. Better than a lot of the options that have come through the door for our Lunch and Learns.

Bistro is one of the smaller delis in the area of Lex/41st — but it serves up some pretty good deals for the mid-town employee who has a limited choice(because mid-town food mostly sucks). The fresh-tossed salads come at about $ 5-ish with a can of soda and are usually very filling. Get the loyalty card stamped everytime you order a salad and your 10th one is free. The guys who work there are all very polite, efficient, and not a stickler for allowing only one meat choice, unlike some other salad places. The paninis are pretty good as well — try the chicken fajita one. The soups are $ 5 for the large one with a free piece of bread — before you order a soup, you can ask for a taste and they’re always super nice about it. The brazilian chicken soup is pretty good. They use real grilled chicken, and these guys actually scoop from the bottom — all the real food gets put into your cup along with the soup. unlike a place around the corner where the chicken noodle soup is all soup no noodle(I have to look for the name so I can bash them later). AND, if you ask for a cup of ice, they give it for free. some places around here actually charge you 50cents for frozen water and plastic. Crazy, right? Also, all the staff are smilers. I like that.
