Cafe Lafayette

It’s called Café Lafayette, but it’s all good. Had the classic everything bagel with lox and cc, delicious. The cooks are fast and remember everything you tell them. Decent prices here as well considering the area. Lots of breakfast options and good for. Kids too. Ample seating. Takes credit cards. I would eat here a lot if I lived anywhere near here.

Great bagels. Smoked salmon with a smear of cream cheese and eggs. The little café has efficient friendly service but hey the reason you came here was the food right. You will not be disappointed. The Bagels are perfect. Recommended +++

I wanted a bagel for breakfast. This place was 100% adequate.

Best breakfast place I’ve ever been to. Any of their sandwiches — BLT or egg with any combination of sausage, bacon, cheese, etc. — is going to be awesome, and worth the 50% premium over street vendor prices. All the flavors just blend together perfectly. They take great care in wrapping your sandwich once with paper and again in aluminum foil to keep it warm.

This is probably the best all-​round food spot in the area.
First of all, 10 points for being right across the street from the courthouse. Secondly, you can get just about anything you want — Sandwiches, wraps, salads, plates of food, all kinds of coffee drinks, you name it. Top it all off with friendly service, ample seating, and a pretty laid back atmosphere.
Even when it’s crowded during the lunch rush it doesn’t really stay crowded because service is fast, and because most of the customers here actually work for a living, they get their food and keep it moving, unlike many other places in the city.
No all-​day camping and squatting. A working person’s dream.

This place is amazing! They are quick, nice, and the food is always delicious. The food is always fresh, which is an impressive feat since they have such an extensive menu. I go here at least five times a week and have rarely gotten the same thing. They also have delicious hazelnut iced coffee. They use actual hazelnut coffee instead of hazelnut syrup. They have a create your own salad bar that is hand tossed in front of you and every sandwich is made right there, nothing is reheated of microwaved. The atmosphere is also clean, well lit, and very nice. I highly recommend eating here!

That is really all there is to it. This is my first review after checking in and searching on Unilocal for over two years. Unilocal is invaluable for finding places like this.
As others have pointed out it is now called Café Lafayette. They have great daily sandwich specials and their breakfasts are absolutely delicious. I found a groove with this place and usually get the Grilled Chicken Sandwich special with avocado on a roll. It is so good that I can’t not get it and I am a creature of habit. The breakfast wrap/​burrito is also so so delicious. I highly recommend both choices for lunch and breakfast respectively, but have had other good stuff here too.
Have not tried the custom salad creations, but all the ingredients look very fresh and there is a wide variety as well.
Lastly, the owners could not be nicer people. I would head in nearly everyday last summer for lunch and always had a cheery smile when I made my way up to the register. These are the kind of people who you want to support their business not only because it is tasty, but because this is what good family owned stores are all about.
So if you are looking for a quick good lunch around Chinatown/​Little Italy/​Financial District then this is a great bet.

I’ve found my new breakfast place when I have to be in court here!
Huge, terrific menu to order from with all kinds of wraps and sandwiches, create-​your-​own-​salad options, snacks, etc. Fresh ingredients. It’s obvious why they have an «A» rating — which was the reason I walked in. Some grocery items too for convenience.
Fast service with a smile! It’s probably as fast as fast food places, but obviously the quality is much higher. Really nice staff who all know their jobs.

Their breakfast wraps are to die for… Their wraps are made to order. My favorite is Turkey bacon, egg whites, and pepper jack cheese on a whole wheat wrap. It tastes so good it brings tears to my eyes. Literally!!! Not only are the wraps tasty their filling. The prices are reasonable. This place has an A rating which is always a plus. The staff is super friendly. Not only does the owner greet you with a smile, he’ll explain all the benefits of Ginger Tea :-)

There are several options in this area for salads/​sandwiches, but I find Café Lafayette to have the freshest ingredients and warmest atmosphere. The pricing is clear for salads (you don’t have to worry about different prices for different toppings); and they always rotate special sandwiches (in addition to the regular deli selection you’ll find everywhere). They have seating, which you won’t find everywhere. And the staff is just plain nice. I go here at least once a week and am always welcomed by the owners. The guys that work the salad/​deli counter are nice and polite (as a woman, I appreciate not having to deal with the creepster guys you’ll find elsewhere).
Overall, a great experience! And stop in for breakfast. They’re very generous with the bacon! :)
