The owners and workers are very friendly and the food is decent and quick! They also have a few grocery items if you need milk or something or even pasta.

This is the only place I know that everytime you go in there, they change the freaking prices, everyday u can by the same thing for breakfast and each day they upping the prices and the breakfast is not that great, but I will say they make salads now and those are pretty good, until they start screwing with how much u pay, they literally change with the weather, even though I believe everything they sell is over priced.

Having worked in the area for over 6 years i have watched this location change and become booming with business. Its mostly people from court but if youre looking for variety, you have def found it. You walk in and theres a pizza counter. Next to that a hot food secion(used to be a buffet but no more). Then the cold cut secion and towards the back, more random deli eats. A group of us girls hit a party with really cheap wine the night before and were nursing pretty vicious headaches. Several were crying for grilled cheese and french fries… and i just wanted to cry with them. So we walked over to the crowded happy deli and ordered our food. BLT with avocado. and Fries. The blt was done quickly but they somehow forgot my fries. so i waited. and waited. and waited. They put the fries in the bag and sent me on my way. when i got to my desk, my fries were still WHITE and had raw innards. They were very disappointing. the blt however, was tasty. They only take cash which really sucks. I mean its about to be 2011… can we get with the program?

Happy Deli, a deli of many names(Eric’s Happy Deli, The Han Lafayette Deli), doesn’t really have the identity crisis its multiple names suggest. The choice of food options is diverse, but they don’t have enough square footage to offer much diversity in brands. In short, they are a highly convenient deli, with modest prices. They’ve very recently renovated the place and it now looks a whole lot cleaner than it did before. Also, they don’t appear to have received any violations in the past 12 months after receiving a string of wrist slaps from 2006 through 2009(see here: ). Here’s to hoping they can keep the streak alive.

I got a cheeseburger here and it wasn’t anything special but it wasn’t bad either. I think I might go back here to try the pizza though since my co workers says it’s pretty good.

I love love love this place… perhaps it’s because I live next door, perhaps it’s because I’m a deli freak, who knows. It’s cheap, it’s fast, it’s lively — i have no complaints! Bring cash — it’s the only thing they accepts. Their bagels are outstanding, as are their grilled chicken heroes which I get probably 3 times a week if not more. Their pizza is delicious New York pizza, and with the bustling crowd you encounter everday — what’s not to love!

While the food at Happy Deli is of moderate quality, I always enjoy the experience here. The space is crowded with a mix of courthouse officers, jail visitors, local businessmen, and NYU students from the dorm next door, all here to order sandwiches from the loud but extremely efficient deli counter.
