Three stars?! Nopes. Although the service at this location is not the best, and the wait time to get a table or a waiter to look at you could be sometimes crazy, the delicious food makes it all up for it. Café K is my go-to place whenever I’m in the area and in the need of a GOOD breakfast or brunch, the menu has a big verity of items from the traditional egg omelet to fettuccini to sushi and the list goes on and on… Last time I was there we where in for a quick bite, we took some sushi which was delicious and fresh, then we had the poutine which was not bad but nothing to brag about, but the next item really blew me away… What was it you ask?! A Drink!!! Say what? Yep a simple drink, called the Torino shake, which tastes like someone went up to heaven, scooped up a full bucket of the goodness, and brought it back down for us to enjoy… The drink consist of almost frozen milk/ice cream with tons of shreds from a delicious kosher Swiss Torino chocolate.(make sure to ask for it when you’re there) In overall I am a huge fan of this place and would definitely return! And to all those Crybaby’s that complain about the service, go back to mama’s kitchen where she’ll serve you the first, and give you a bigger portion then anyone else!(Sigh…)

taken clients there who were very impressed with food quality and service; tight café-type atmosphere; great centarl location; not high end; food good, but not that cheap

Had lunch with a friend and we split a veggie panini and a tuna panini. The veggie was good but the tuna was much better. No sides no frills. As I looked at other tables, the salads looked big and solid. We had two very nice waitresses. Good quick Kosher lunch option.

Best food, service, and price in the entire NY. Whether you’re looking for a quick breakfast before work, brunch, or a full sit down dinner, your stomach and wallet will be equally satisfied. That, coupled with the waiting staff who are friendly and extremely helpful, and the nice atmosphere, makes this probably my favorite restaurant I’ve ever been to, including places where you pay $ 200 or more for a meal.

Not enough pasta or eggplant with the cheese and sauce. Not bad on the wait time of around 30 minutes. Quite dusty. Overall it was ok.

I tried to eat here but was seated and ignored. No water. No waiter tried to take more order even though 3 – 4 different ones walked by me. Blah atmosphere with nothing on the walls. Felt like a hospital cafeteria. I got up, left and went somewhere else.

This was the first time I ordered food from this restaurant and it was mainly because they were still serving breakfast until 12 pm. When I arrived to pick up my order, the woman behind the register was too busy arguing with another employee to acknowledge me even though I was standing right in front of her. While the food was great, the lack of professionalism and poor customer service turned me off. I won’t be coming back.

Food is fine(salads are boring — don’t get a salad), but the atmosphere is bleh and they can’t accommodate parties over 10 at one table.

Unless you’re Jewish or keep Kosher, don’t go here unless you want to feel like a pariah. My friend and I stumbled across this for brunch today on our walk from The Lexington to Saks. We were initially ignored, then escorted to the coffee bar for«to go»; finally we asked about the specials we saw outside, and were seated in a corner hidden away from rest of the customers. The waitstaff asked the other patrons several times about their meals and checked up on them, while we were ignored. It was hard to believe this was 2014 and Midtown Manhattan.

Not a bad spot for breakfast or lunch if you are looking for a kosher spot. The service was very good and the food was fresh and served warm. My salmon was a bit on the dry side to my taste, the manager offered to give us a discount and a free desert but that was not necesery. The place is well ran, on hand manager seems to be on top of things and the food and service are good.

Pretty much everything(atmosphere, service) was meh but at least the food is pretty good. Decent sit-down kosher lunch spot(once you brave the long queue for a table that is).

My review is based mostly on the fact that I expected ‘meh’ service and was blown away both by the quality of the food, the speed with which it arrived at our table and that I walked out satisfied. It was PACKED around lunchtime and I came in with a colleague for a quick lunch. We ordered salads and sushi and received both super quick. Yes, everyone who works there seems a little frazzled, but it’s ok to be busy! I had the mushroom salad and there was plenty of everything, the sushi was fresh and I was overall satisfied. So much so that I walked over the next day for takeout and was equally happy with the fast service. Very impressed. The only negatives is that there are no sandwiches on the seating menu(I spotted them on the takeout menu — weird) and it gets LOUD in there at lunch.

Looking for a place to sit down and enjoy a salad on my lunch break, I wandered into Café K. Not realizing the K stood for Kosher, I felt a little out of place as a woman in pants and a tank, but hopefully it was all in my head. As other reviewers mentioned, the service is a little off. I had to seat myself and call a waiter over for a menu, call a waiter over to order and same when I needed the check. I was also brought out someone else’s meal. It looked tasty but I’m sure it’s bad karma stealing someone’s lunch! I ordered the beet salad with grilled eggplant. The presentation of the salad was great and it was plentiful, but definitely overpriced at $ 12(especially with no protein or cheese on the salad). It was worth a try but there are thousands of salad places in midtown for half the price.

Not a very great restaurant. The waiters and waitresses seem so busy with… something. Not sure what, since it wasn’t nearly half-full, but they clearly weren’t able to attend to our table for about 20 minutes. They never came by to even fill our water once our orders were taken. Very irksome ambiance as well. Dull lighting(not romantically dim, but rather more like waning lightbulbs). Food was ok. I ordered a milkshake that came grey(as an art teacher I’m not sure how red strawberries and yellow bananas could have made such a color), in addition to being strangely bitter with an undertone of added sweetener(more like an overtone). I then ordered a coffee that came with a sleeve that served no purpose since it was conserving no heat. Oh well. At least they were nice. I’ll go somewhere else next time, though!

I absolutely love Café K. Everything I’ve ordered from them, from sushi to salads to pasta, has been extremely tasty. My personal favorite item there is the Greek Salad. They have incredible Israeli feta cheese that they use & their house made lemon & olive oil dressing is superb. This place is a great place for lunch or casual dinner. Why 4 stars instead of 5? The décor could use an updating. I often order take out but when I sit inside I do wish it was a little bit brighter or more up-to-date. That said, the food outweighs this issue for me since it’s so great… but definitely not really a place I’d sit in with my non-kosher eating friends or co-workers like some other places are.

I ordered a simple dish — salmon. It came with a baked potato and some Israeli salad. My companion ordered the Japanese Salad and a cappuccino. What was a «simple» dish was made excellent simply in the masterful preparation of both the salmon and the potato! I’ve never had fish so well cooked in my life. It tasted like someone went out back and grilled it up, the crispness creating the perfect balance with the moist inside of this large piece of salmon. I was also surprisingly pleased with the«baked potato,» which, as it turned out, was a baked potato that was sliced and then grilled. Oh my wow, is all I can say. The Israeli salad was standard, but the fish and potato? I know that I could never grill fish so perfectly, so you can bet I’m going back to Café K for the fish, if not the excellent atmosphere(save the leaking sealing in the back of the restaurant during the rainstorm). My only complaint? There were some bones in my fish. Ick, ick, ick. My companions salad looked … interesting. It had seaweed on it, which sort of killed the appetizing nature of the dish for me, but she thought it was good overall. And her cappuccino? Not only was it beautiful, but, she said, it was delicious, too. Overall, this is your average-priced Kosher Dairy restaurant, but the food makes it exceptional. I can’t wait to go back!
