Nice restaurant. I came with my wife for a little italy experience. We order spaghetti carbonara and penne a la vodka. Was great the plates. I lived in Italy and i am familiar with italian cucine. Nice servers, very gently and friendly. I give 4 stars cause we didn’t take the 20% off for the first check in from Unilocal. It still running but our server told me that this is from last year. Take it off then :-)

This is the best place for lobster ravioli! White sauce is great. Calamari was perfectly cooked. On a whim I got a side of angel hair pasta tossed with garlic and olive oil. I added Marsala mushrooms to it from my veal Marsala. Delivered promptly and delicious!

FANTASTIC!!! what a great lunch we had here … so delicious! tourist trap? hardly … this place was recommended by locals(plural) and did not disappoint … we ordered the calamari, Paillard di Pollo con Insalata, and Lasagna al Forno … yum!!! calamari: lighty breaded and perfect… not rubbery at all … simple and tasty Paillard di Pollo con Insalata: chix breast topped w argula, onions, tomatoes … such an easy dish on the body and fulfilling… light, crisp, fresh … a delicious healthy option Lasagna: Wow! my husband picked a good one … this dish was amazing … the cheese, the sauce, the noodles … everything on point … all the complaints of canned or store bought sauce are nonsense … this sauce was the first thing that stood out to us… eating it in spoonfuls! if we had more time in NY we would’ve come back for a second helping hostess and waiters were very nice… nice setting all around

I’ve had so many good meals and good memories here I have to give it 5 stars. The service was always great, the ambience was nice, and the food always hit the spot. It’s a small Italian place in little Italy so it’s close together seating but you’re still able to enjoy your meal. The waiters mill around constantly with water, etc so someone’s always on hand. I always order the minestrone, the way they make it is so tasty. The pasta dishes are big and al dente. I like their shrimp and mussels over linguine. It’s a great place for lunch, an intimate dinner, or a family gathering.

Love this place… Old school Italian restaurant with great food, excellent service and reasonably priced. We had Calamari Fritti and Vongole Oreganate for appetizers Main course of Penne all Arrabiata and Pollo alla Sorrentina Everything was delicious. Also some wine. Besides the food being very good the service was perfect, timed the meal correctly, refiled water and wine as needed, check on us to make sure we were happy. The place is also very clean I highly recommend this restaurant in the heart of Little Italy.

Food quality is good — very good. Portion size is perfect. Atmosphere is good, nothing special. Service is adequate. Price-moderate, I would say higher than expected. No kids menu, kids drink options are sparse except for soda. Actually had them serve my child ½ a cup of OJ with a ½ cup of water. She had(2) of these and we were charged $ 3 each.

We stopped because of the dinner specials for $ 9.50 and couldn’t resist. Food was ok, not amazing but not bad neither. Good portion for the price you pay and the staff were all very attentive and the restaurant was clean.

This place is terrible. They falsely advertise homemade pasta… It’s all from the box and the sauce is awful… They also automatically include tip so you have no choice. Do NOT eat here.

My friends and I really enjoyed our dinner here. Our waiter was great — super funny and friendly. The food was good, the sangria was delicious, and we were allowed to sit and visit between courses without feeling like we needed to rush out to make room for others. Adorable restaurant, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing dinner in little Italy.

Delicious food! Had chicken francese, chicken parm and fettuccine alfredo — all great! The chicken dishes were specials and came with a side of spaghetti for $ 9.50. I took away one star because the host and waiter were not friendly. Host seemed annoyed to help us and barely smiled. Waiter was brusque and didn’t smile either. But the food was outstanding! Would definitely recommend to friends!

Tourist trap! Had the pizza and the crust was store bought. The pasta was basic and mediocre. They add in the 18% gratuity without telling you don’t add a tip. Its jncluded. Waiters were good and friendly.

I used to absolutely love this place, unfortunately it has gone downhill. We walked in, and there were a few red flags. Red flag #1– They were playing some kind of terrible Central American music. I asked for some Sinatra or Dean Martin, and they thought I was trying to order an appetizer. They finally put some Sinatra on, and the radio kept cutting in and out. I heard«My Way» 3x. Which brings me to… Red flag #2– The majority of the servers and busboys were Central American. Look, I love Central America, I’ve been to El Salvador and Guatemala, but I want Italians in an Italian restaurant. Bonus– our actual waiter was VERY Italian. Red flag #3– The joint was empty. All of the other Italian places were packed. The food was ok. The bread was cold, and served with no butter. The olive oil on the table was thin and«watery.» No flavor. The mussels marinara were ordinary. We had veal francese, and that was the best thing we had. I have ordered this dish a half dozen times over the past 15 years. It wasn’t as good as I remember, but it was ok. The flavor didn’t pop like it used to. All in all its sad to see what has become of this place. I have recommended this place many times through the years. Not only will I not be doing that anymore, I will not be returning.

Ok, we know Little Italy is more for tourists than locals, but please! Paid $ 14.50 for a $ 7 size plate of gnocchi, AND they were poorly cooked. I grew up in Italy so may be spoiled, but I have had good Italian in the US and in NYC… but didn’t find it at Buona Notte. The gnocchi were either old or undercooked — hard and almost cold. My friend had much better lasagne in… Kuwait ! Yes, you read that right, in the middle east. I shoulda known better, but you’re with friends, checking out the craziness of the San Gennaro festival(as long as you can handle the crowds) and you get hungry and want to sit down. They had a nice garden in back and service was nice which gives it an extra star; otherwise, food & prices make it a 1(or half) star. Not gonna go back, and I do not recommend it to others.

Italian food in Little Italy is known to be a tourist trap. Still, being a big fan of Italian culture, food and Italians in general, I came with my best friend from high school who has the same appetito for Italian as I did. We started with bread, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Surprising enough, the bread was the only good part of the meal, which they probably did not bake in house. Service was quick and our old Italian waiter was charming. We both ordered red, Cabernet and Merlot, per to our waiter’s suggestion. Food came out quick, but warm. I had ricotta ravioli and my friend got chicken parmesan. It was subpar, as with most Italian restaurants lined up the block. Over salting must be a popular thing now a days? Decent, but would not come back.

Randomly stopped in at Buona Notte for a quick lunch with a friend in town for a few days. Service — like the food — was good, not exceptional. We opted for light fare and split an arugula salad and fried calamari. The calamari was delicious and what I would expect from an authentic Italian restaurant — especially one in Little Italy! I loved that the marinara sauce it was served with had a nice kick to it.
