They keep forgetting items from my orders — one time a side, another time the tartar sauce for my blackened catfish etc. Incompetent staff that can’t do a 2 second check to see that everything is in the bag before they deliver yet they don’t mind charging $ 1.75 for a delivery fee a 10% tip and $ 25+ a meal. Irresponsible.

The pig out for two is bomb. Just do it. I ordered the shoo fly cocktail and it was sugary but the makers was definitely present! The sports bar feel is real, watched the entirety of an NBA game with fellow fans and skeeball at half time was a bonus(bring quarters!). The Christmas lights and mason jars and country music made for a festive, low key environment that will keep me coming back.

Sports bar chain. Typical food /crowd. Nothing special and food was average. Service is great though

Fantastic atmosphere and their taste in music is fantastic. I came in expecting a bit of a sports bar atmosphere because I went on a Saturday night during college football season but it turned out to more of a fun lively atmosphere that has me wanting to go back.

Went for lunch. Very tasty blackened grilled catfish sandwich with avocado and side of collard greens. Also had the chicken burger with Mac n cheese. Not sure why the 2 pickles are worth mentioning on the menu like they are something so special versus them being plain pickles from a bottle, but that’s the only negative. Otherwise a fun looking place, pretty empty for lunch but very attentive service and very good tasting good. Worth the trip.

LOVE this place… There is SKEE-BALL…need I say more? The bartenders are sweet as can be… this place is underrated! They play whatever sports game you want to see on one of their multiple tv screens. napkins will fly in the air at some point… just own it. If you come with a group, definitely try the swamp water drink! You’ll argue over who takes home the alligator/crocodile figure.

5 star music — only place i know of that play Luke Bryan 5 star service — all the waitress/hostess/guy checking IDs people were really nice …but the food/drinks were 3 stars… I got the wedge salad and it was drenched in really thin blue cheese dressing with these onion rings on top that seemed frozen/microwave quality. We ordered the Swamp Water and my favorite part was the plastic crocodile lizard that was in the drink that I could whoop my swamp boy with. This drink is very heavy on the pineapple themes. Overall, good place to go get cheap drinks and listen to Luke Bryan and/or play ski ball with your children.

Great casual bbq restaurant that’s kid friendly during the day and«drinker friendly» later. The service is always fast and friendly, the food is pretty good — wings very good, the ribs are ok…(Could be meatier and more tender but the sauces are fun). All food a big hit with kids as is the ultra cheesy Mac and cheese and other sides. Corn bread is great, and I like the fried brussel sprouts… I see the greatest appeal of Brother Jimmy’s in being a homey chill casual neighborhood spot — for a few groups: Group 1/younger later party folks/drinkers — I don’t fall into that category however it’s seeing these folks thru the Windows drinking giant fishbowls that put me into group 3… Group 2/kids /families with kids… Very kid friendly during the day/early eve. Kids LOVE it here. They have crayons and kids coloring pages/a kids menu for younger kids, skee ball, a photo booth and some other zombie shooting game(that one not so kid friendly for the younger). Great place for kids and families and small groups with kids. I’ve brought friends with kids and they raved about it after — asking when can we go back again … — if in group 2, time visit earlier so as not to overlap with group 1… This happened a couple times and actually was pretty funny… Once on a 4th of July when a friendly group of group 1 folks were cheering my son on during his skee ball game then an early 20’s guy taught him how to do the happy winner dance — a snakelike break dance move… Oh boy. Laughed out loud. My son: he was really nice. That was fun. Ha — another time my son’s night was made at brother Jimmy’s we were about to leave and my son(younger) thought a guy by the skee ball was a celeb from his fave tv show — the guy played along and made his night signing an autograph. Group 3/adventurers, those in groups one or two — actually anyone — who wants to try the ginormous fish bowl drink with a dozen bright fun straws and a gator popping out … When I first moved to the city from a(boring) suburb, seeing this thru the Brother Jimmy Windows — put the colorful fun alligator adorned fish bowl experience on my top five /bucket list, just behind riding a motorcycle thru NYC. Yes it looked that intriguing . Did it. And It was delic. Then took home and gave the alligator to my son as a bathtub toy — he was younger, loved it… I walked in to see him having the best bath ever dunking the plastic critter, bringing it in the air and letting the water drain from its bottom half. Of course he had no idea it was a drink souvenir I gave him… I said«ohhh you like the gator ?» Him: Oh yeaaaa, let’s get this party started! Ha Where can you get a fun ginormous happy drink in a fish bowl then have a souvenir to take back to a little one? Yep, Brother jimmys. Highly recommend for kids, families and all drinking folks and fish bowl adventurers. Just time your visit depending which you want.

In love with this place! From the ambience to the food to the drinks, everything is commendable! I’ve been to this location about 2 – 3 times and I have always walked out drunk, full and so happy! The food here is filling and affordable. Its that perfect comfort food you want when you plan on getting drunk. The fried chicken dinner that comes with two sides(I usually get mac & cheese and mashed potatoes) is to die for! I have also tried their burger with a side of fries which is also good. Now for that one thing that drags me to this spot every time is the FISHBOWL! Or swamp water as they call it. It is hands down, the best fishbowl I have ever had! It doesn’t taste heavily alcoholic but it will get you drunk to the point where you can’t walk out on your own! I would recommend at least 2 – 3 people share a bowl. You will definitely enjoy it! The servers are friendly and the ambience is fun, would recommend everyone to give it a try!

Oh, Bro J’s. I’ve «put some south in yo(my) mouth» for years as instructed. You took me in with open arms when I was a lost post-college man trying to make it in the Big Apple. I appreciate the continued hospitality since those early days in 2009. For starters, this is the original location — all other franchisees must pay homage to where it began. BBQ and Southern(especially the Carolinas) roots is the name of the game. I mean, they even have a «Southern Appreciation» night on Wednesdays, where those with a Southern ID get 25% off all food. There are televisions for sports enthusiasts and Skee-Ball and Buck Hunter for the gamer. You can also enjoy bingo on Tuesdays, karaōke on Wednesdays, and live music throughout the week. They have a lot of specials. I’m talking about 5 shots for $ 15 every day from 5pm to close, $ 3 PBRs and Natty Lights on Thursdays, and some other kind of food and drink combo special almost every day of the week. Play your cards right and you may end up with some complimentary«swamp water.» The food is pretty good. It really varies depending on your order so here’s the things I enjoy: frickles, wings, Carolina pulled pork platter, fried chicken sandwich(buffalo style), BBQ beans, mac & cheese, and tots. My friend also speaks highly of the turkey burger. The few grumbles surrounding some of my experiences involved the timeliness of food and delivery service. Overall, my interactions with staff have been friendly and positive. I recommend checking it out for cheap drinks, good food, lively atmosphere, and sports viewing. Thanks for the memories!

This would be a 1-star review if the GM hadn’t apologized and offered us free drinks for the incident. Summary: One of the bouncers here is a total douchebag and needs to be fired(or at least owes us an apology). He has dark hair(a little bit spiky in the front), is chubby, and appears to be in his 30s or 40s. A couple weeks ago a big group of us were hanging out in the corner of the back room and having a few brews. Then all of a sudden some guy came out of nowhere and basically plowed through us, even physically pushing one of us out of the way, yelling«GETOUTOFMYWAY». Obviously it was extremely rude and uncalled for, so our friend who had gotten physically pushed said«you could at least ask nicely». The guy then turned around and yelled«WHATDIDYOUSAYTOME?», threatened to kick out our friend and escalated the situation. Turns out he was a bouncer(who was escorting out a homeless woman). I was shocked to find out that he was an employee because he was acting like a washed up former frat boy wannabe tough guy douchebag — the type who tries to start fights whenever he gets drunk. After the incident, the bouncer apparently told his manager who then tried to kick us out. But after we told the manager what happened, he backed down and apologized. Another employee who had seen the whole ordeal and knew that we had done nothing wrong apologized as well and offered us a free round of drinks for the inconvenience. The bouncer never apologized. He basically had to get someone else to apologize on his behalf and avoided confronting or speaking to us because he knew he was the one in the wrong. A couple weeks later the 8 of us went back to the bar. The manager was at the door, but the same bouncer was behind him and told the manager not to let our friend in(of course the bouncer then cowardly retreated inside). Naturally we asked why, and the manager refused to give us a reason, just saying«sorry just can’t. not tonight.» He basically refused to hear our side of the story, later saying simply that«someone inside felt threatened». Of course the power-tripping bouncer was nowhere to be seen because he knew that he was in the wrong and that if we discussed it with him then he’d look like an idiot. After about 10 minutes of this, the GM finally came out. The GM had no idea what the story was because he wasn’t there the last time. After we explained the situation to him, he apologized and offered us free drinks for the inconvenience. This is literally the only reason why this isn’t a 1-star review. In the end it worked out, but we had to go through way too much trouble and hassle when they were the ones in the wrong. I’m grateful that the GM apologized for the terrible«customer service» we received, but the bouncer never apologized to us. And he seems like the type who has way too much pride to ever admit being wrong, let alone discussing the incident with us to our faces. If the bouncer is fired or mans the fuck up and apologizes, then I will take down this review. Otherwise, fuck that guy. You don’t treat other people like that, especially customers.

I rarely write reviews — except in the case of extreme satisfaction or extreme dissatisfaction. Unfortunately as you can see by my star rating, this case wasn’t one of satisfaction. I’ve been to other Brother Jimmy’s restaurants in the city and had great food and service. This location however has a lot to work on. The food was cold. The fries were hard, dry, and stale. The service(when they decided to drop by) was less than enthused to ensure our experience was a good one. Oh, and the air conditioning was blasting despite it being below 60 °F outside. Overall a terrible experience and I won’t return.

Best thing about this place is that it is open late. As a group we ordered the margaritas, LIITs, wings and all. Drinks were good size with generous amount of alcohol. 2 drinks and we were good for the night. Wings were good, but had no heat whatsoever and not too crispy. Most of us had burgers, i didnt like mine, but all my friends loved theirs. That is why 1 less star. Catfish sandwich was good, could have been less blackened. Crispy okra(batter fried) and brussel sprouts were not bad either. Best place for late night bar calls with good food.

The fish bowl will be your downfall. I don’t recommend one person drinking it — its huge and very sweet, and one of those drinks that will catch up to you(fine one minute, and drunk the next). The bbq is pretty good here, I’ve had a few different plates. The sampler was awesome, we could try a few different items on the menu. The pulled pork was a favorite on there. The friend green tomatoes were standard, like most other places that serve them. I don’t prefer one location to another, but they all have a great atmosphere! Beer pong, mini arcade games, and a chill, younger vibe.

My family keeps telling me about Brother Jimmy’s Sweet Potato Tots. I’m a big fan of Sweet Potato Fries. When I heard that the West Side location closed I decided I better get to another location and try them right away. I found the BroJim’s on 2nd Ave btw 77 – 78 Streets. This place is very homey, country feel. I was greeted at the door. I ordered my Sweet Potato Tater Tots to go. Excellent service, very reasonable price for a huge portion. Delicious and environmentally friendly to go container! It looks like a fun neighborhood hang out. They have daily specials. I’m going back for a full meal as soon as I can get my posse together. Everyone displaced from the West Side BroJim’s should come over to the East Side! Second Ave Subway Construction in this area is not bad. Let’s keep 2nd Avenue open for business! Lots of good eats here!

This place is the definition of mediocre. Nothing particularly bad about it, but nothing that really wowed me. The BBQ sauce in the condiments basket tasted like vinegar, salty vinegar, and spicy vinegar. The baby back ribs were kind of tough though the chicken was well cooked and moist. I really liked the brisket but the pulled pork needed seasoning and salt. The sides were not bad, one of the few places where they weren’t overly salty, but at the same time it was all under seasoned. Some paprika? Chili? Anything! By the way, the price is not bad for the UES. For four meat samples and 4 sides, it was a total of $ 45. Great to split between 2 people. After tasting the food though, it sort of makes sense why it was all so cheap. They clearly skimped on seasoning. I probably won’t go back here given the copious amounts of BBQ places in NYC. Plus, I’m a bit spoiled… I lived 10 minutes from an upstate Dino BBQ for 10 years…

A solid 3-star joint. A friend and I came here in search of wings. We started with some drinks; I had the Georgia Tea, which was just okay. Nice flavors, but a bit too sweet. For the appetizer, we got the hot wings. This was pretty good. My friend thought it wasn’t saucy enough, but I liked how the skin was crispy and the inside was moist. The problem we had was with the brisket plate we ordered to share. It came with cornbread and two sides(we chose roasted brussel sprouts and sweet potato tots, both of which were delicious). For the brisket, you get to choose either lean or marbled; we chose the lean. The brisket they sent to our table was farrr from lean! There were hunks of fat hanging off the meat – YUCK! When we told the waitress, she was very accommodating and quick to replace our order. Unfortunately, the new order was only slightly better than the first. Aaaand finally! I would’ve still given this place 4 stars, except I found a hair inside the box of leftovers the next day. Ick.

This location is very small. I came here for a end of season party for a social kickball league I am involved in. It was definitely a little crowded in the back with our group but they did accommodate us with flip cup tables. They have skeeball and beer pong tables to play. Which is nice to have if you are ever looking to have a fratty night out :) reminiscing of college days. I don’t think I would make the trek up here to grab a few drinks but I would potentially stop in if I was in the area. I do like the TVs and the cheap drinks. Probably would be good to watch college football or ncaa basketball at.
