Brite Buy Wines and Spirits

This place is my go to these days. Customer service is amazing and staff is very approachable and friendly.

Walked in with my boyfriend at 5 minutes to 8 on a Sunday. The store closes at 8pm and the Indian woman at the register immediately screamed out «we’re closing in 2 mins». Fine, we tried to make a decision quickly and a nice guy came over to help us find what we were looking for. She then yells out «we don’t have any of that!» And rolls her eyes repeatedly. We get to the counter and within a minute 2 more customers walk in. She tells them the store is closed. It wasn’t even 8pm yet and why wouldn’t she want more business? Then she takes my boyfriends credit card and starts huffing and puffing because she rang it up wrong twice. She then says the card declined which is impossible. She was extremely irritable and rude. After trying a few times she repeats over and over «this really isnt my day» And asks us for cash. We didn’t have cash so we ended up walking out without any wine. We ended up going around the corner and picked up wine in the deli (using the same card which did not decline!) I have never written a review on Unilocal but that woman made me want to call her boss and have her fired. That was the worst service I have ever seen.

Good service. Lovely staff. They’ll sell you wine within your price range and give you a lesson need be.

good local liquor store, but overpriced. the same bottle of whiskey went for much less elsewhere. but it’s convenient.

This is a great place in the area. The best thing is that is very close to the subway so you can actually stop get a great bottle and keep on your way. The place is small but well stocked. They have great wines if you feel adventurous and want to try new wines.
The staff is great and friendly. I went there three times during a weekend and they recognized me after a while, so it made it even better. They were helpful when I needed.
Price wise they have great deals. I never have spent more than $ 40 taking up to 3 or 4 bottles of great wine.
Definitely an awesome place to get wine in the city.

I work near Brite Buy and popped in one night on the way home to pick up a bottle of wine to serve to house guests with some cheese. The first part of my experience at Brite Buy was a positive one. A very personable clerk working the floor helped me pick out jsut the right bottle in my price range. He was helpful, but not overbearing — just perfect. Once I got to the register to pay, it all went downhill. :(The person working the register appeared to be doing something with vendor invoices, stamping, stapling, etc. I stood two feet away from him at the register for about 3 minutes without even being acknowledged. Strike one. Once he did acknowledge my existance, he was not what I would call «friendly», rather his attitude was the he was doing ME a favor by ringing me up. Strike two. I think the bottle of wine I purchased was about $ 16, not expensive by any stretch, but also not the cheapest bottle I could have found. When I pulled out my credit card to pay, he informed me that the store has a minimum of $ 30 for credit card transactions. I work in financial services and happen to know that the card associations do NOT allow merchants to set minimums for transactions. Strike three.
Had I not been in a hurry to get home to meet the guests I was serving the wine to, I would have cancelled the transaction and walked out.
There are enough small, friendly, knowledgeable wine shops that I will not be shopping here again.

I’m actually loath to write a review about this place because it’s been such a great local find and I’m selfish. You’d pass by this place and miss it if you blink.
The crew that works here is nothing but friendly, helpful, and amazingly knowledgeable. They’re able to help me find great wines every time.
The prices are very reasonable — for some of the bottles I’ve picked up, downright steals.
If you’re ordering in semi-​bulk (I’ve done as little as 6), they delivery locally, which is always great.
