Much of the selection is targeted to the retired ladies loungewear variety. A few cute things here and there, Calvin Klein but you have to look. A note to the buyer for this store: there are many younger professional women in the vicinity. Please try to offer more clothing that is age appropriate for younger women. Much of the stuff tends to be frumpy. Sometimes even grandma doesn’t want to look like a grandma!

Situation: Accidentally discovered this store when I walked in thinking it was a Strawberry, only to discover that they had closed down at this location and been replaced by a Bolton’s. Initially I was skeptical after seeing some more«mature» clothing on the ground floor, but after poking around a bit I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were treasures to be found! I returned on another day to get a cover-up to go with my new swimsuit for the beach. I departed with a gorgeous cerulean and sapphire convertible scarf that was designed in a way so that it could be fashioned as a long vest(a la Coachella), grecian-style one shoulder cover-up, or a sarong. And for a grand total of $ 20, with it originally retailing for $ 44, mission accomplished! PROS –The store is fairly well maintained by some pretty friendly staff. All the clothes I looked at were in good condition and I have decent confidence that if I needed a different size or colour, I’d be able to find it easily or have a staff member assist(without scowling, ahem Macy’s). –Lots of name brands like Philosophy and Calvin Klein at a fraction of the retail price! CONS –Definitely lots of tacky and frumpy stuff you’d imagine a cranky old lady wearing, so you’ll have to be especially selective… but the hunt is half the fun, eh? In a nutshell… I would recommend you pay Bolton’s a visit if you’re looking primarily to build your career wardrobe, as I noticed there were a lot of work friendly sheath dresses as well as separates. Especially great for the young professional, who might be keeping an eye on her budget.

Women’s clothing, some nice creative and colorful stuff for the office. Most Boltons stores seem to be priced a little higher, maybe it’s this location’s proximity to lower end stores or the time of year. The new(?) guy was adorable, and the affordable pants and shirts selection(many diaphanous patterned or colorful tunics and cute office-y pants around $ 20) seems to be off the hook this time of year. Some really cute bags(but pricey, mostly $ 39 – 79), a few spring jackets($ 40+), winter and fall outerwear(about $ 60 – 140), scarves not bad($ 10 – 20), and a little evening wear. Did not check out the intimates and sleepwear. Sizes tend to run a little big. ;-) Great location near Manhattan Mall and JC Penney, Old Navy, Strawberry, and Payless Shoe Source on 34th Street!

Sleepy discount-clothing store for women, with branches around town. You can be lucky, finding the item you want, always at a good price. Near SIBL Library on 34th Street, and the Morgan Library-Museum.
