Blue Moon Deli

Blue Moon has been in my repertoire of lunch spots for the decade I’ve worked in the Yorkville area. They make good sandwiches and salads at pocket-​friendly prices and the guys who run it and work the deli counter are great (guess it helps to be a regular.). Should’ve written them up a long time ago… No bells or whistles, it’s just a simple deli and a good one at that :-)

Went here this morning as it was near my hotel. Got toasted plain bagel and butter. Serve yourself coffee. Milk jug under counter in fridge.
Wish they could label pots. Poured coffee and was not until I was back at hotel when I realized it was hazelnut. Yuck
Service decent. Food solid. Price for a coffee and bagel was $ 2. Cant beat that!
They have no heat. Place was not cold it was freezing!

Great job with regulars and drop-​ins alike. Excellent neighborhood deli with a great counter man and a great cook behind the counter.

Just walked passed this place. Group of guys hanging out in front of the entrance throwing candy at the delivery guys as they ride by. Threw a piece of candy at me as I walked by too.

Having had deli closures on 2^nd Ave. (Thanks MTA) I stumbled upon this place on Unilocal.Yelpers were on the money on this one. Had a hankering for a good deli sandwich. So I got an unusual takeout. I got 4 hot and toasty heros! Pastrami w cheese, Philly Cheese Steak, Roast beef and peppers, and Turkey and Cheese. We all devoured these as they were all great and 6– 6:50 each. Ingredients were fresh and abundant. Everything nice and hot and toasted. Great thing about deli is you can add a six pack to the list and be done with it! Will definitely get my Pastrami fix here again! Service very nice and helpful. 24 hrs a day

What can I say about Blue Moon Deli … Or as we call it «the deli»?
It is the best place on earth. My husband and I frequent it a few times a week– running in for a random item (like toilet paper) or ordering a full on meal (amazing sandwiches and Ben & jerry ice cream). The people that work at the deli are the nicest guys. They work really hard and care about their establishment. We are never disappointed with the food and are always happy to give them our business. We’ve thought about moving to a different neighborhood but we are so attached to the deli we may never leave. Anytime we grab a sandwich anywhere else in the city we complain it’s never as good as the deli. Prices are awesome too!

The best sandwich place in upper east side at half the prices other places charge. Its open 24 hours. My all time favorite is the tuna salad wrap with cheese and extra jalapenos on the side since my daughter likes to take bites out of it.
The deli is so clean and neat and they got you covered on everything literally. Beer, Lottos, Food, Drinks, Coffee, Ice Over the counter medicines. They can make any sandwich you like and trust me you will not regret. Their prices are great too.
But what really sets this deli apart are the guys who work here. If you go there often they always remember your order. They never ever forget my jalapenos on the side no matter who I sent for picking up my food. Its those little things when businesses show they care for the customers.
They are open 24 hours and they have saved my life so many nights when we are starving and need something quick and satisfying.
Folks in Yorkville by any remote chance you haven’t been to this deli remedy that right away and support this small business.

Take out order review only. I have my husband what I wanted and he went to get us me a breakfast sandwich and himself a cheesesteak.
He said they were disgruntled and wasn’t too happy about all the topping I asked for. And they made everything inside so you don’t see them making it.
The egg sandwich is good — the roll is very soft and thinner than usual.
The cheesesteak is just average — on the smaller side, the beef is a little dry.
$ 9 total for both. Very cheap. I am sure it will be in our breakfast egg roll rotation.

As far as Deli’s are concern, this one gets gets five stars.
Of course you can get a bit fancy, but there’s no need to here. Your deli needs are net here!

Great ingredients make for a great sandwich. Simple!
Priced are reasonable.

I hate to do this because I felt that I had such a great experience. but i ended up getting food poisoning from my philly cheese steak. After narrowing it down and doing some investigation, this is the only place that could have gotten me sick. I don’t think I will return.

This is an underrated deli. Great sandwiches (breakfast and lunch) and has all of your bodega needs. Good place to have around the block. Sometimes there are sketchy characters hanging outside asking for $, but they’re usually harmless. The guys who run the place are very nice and do a fine job.

Most friendly guys on the UES. Deli is delicious. Deli man wants you to enjoy. Throw him a tip if you have an extra dollar. Prices are fair if you need a snack. Love living around the corner from this little spot.

If you’re staying at the Courtyard, this is your best bet for breakfast. The guys are polite and the food is good, fast and cheap.

Staying around the corner at a hotel. Looking for a simple place to grab some breakfast. Very good BLT on a fresh kaiser roll. Quick service. Friendly staff, good prices.

Staying around the corner at the Marriott Courtyard and was very glad to have found this place. Stopped in at night for a six pack and some snacks. The next morning it was coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Both times great quality, selection and prices. My pastrami egg and cheese breakfast on a hero roll for $ 4 has got to be the world’s all time #1 ranked all time breakfast deal. Well done!

Whether it be a lazy mid-​day snack, or late-​night drunk munchies, this is the only place I go for a sandwich. The food is always great, the staff gets it right, and the place is CLEAN! 24 hour grill is a plus. Breakfast served round the clock.

Deli and me are mostly no. no. Happen to pass by this deli and no disappointment what so ever, thanks to this deli I might overcome my misconceptions about the deli food. I actually came to grab a sandwich from so called upscale deli and found them closed. As I was about to sit in my car, I noticed this deli and went in to grab some blue moons. Saw the dude making some kind of subway melt. Their meats looked pretty fresh and the guy was very polite so decided to have the roast beef and cheese sandwich.
Surprisingly, this place served some good «S» roast meats. Prices are damn affordable.

Sometimes it’s good to see a mediocre business crash and burn to witness a Phoenix rising from it’s ashes.
Such is the case with the Blue Moon Deli. Along a still seedy part of 1^st Avenue in the 90’s there is a need for some new businesses to come in the area, and little by little they are finally arriving. This spot has been the location to a jumble of dinky stores over the years, but has recently re-​developed itself into a fine deli. When I came here the other day to grab a breakfast sandwich I was surprised at how nice it is.
Super clean, organized, full of merchandise, and a friendly quick staff to boot! This deli seems to even have more candy, cold remedies, and products than you find in most bodegas. The deli counter is terrific and loaded with delicious looking salads, deli food staples, and cold cuts. Ordered an egg whites and turkey on roll with a cup of coffee for $ 4 — count me in!
This is a really nice addition to the neighborhood that is much needed in this area.

This place is an excellent place to grab a hot sandwich in the middle of the night. Unlike other places, their grill is open 24 hours. The cheeseburgers and philly cheese steak sandwiches here are perfect for a late night snack — greasy and juicy no frills food at its finest. The meat is halal too. They are very cheap as well — the sandwiches are almost all $ 3 to $ 5.
