With my wedding in less than 2 months away, I’ve been on a hunt to find a solid«salad» place. When I read the Bistro Café offers unlimited toppings with its«make your own salad» option, I decided to give it a try. I submitted my order through Eater24 post lunch rush(close to 2:30PM) and immediately headed my way over to pick it up. Unfortunately by the time I arrived, my salad was already«wrong». It wasn’t ready it was just wrong. They already doused my greens with dressing. I accepted my order nevertheless and decided a little extra dressing wouldn’t hurt. I should have inspected my salad a bit more because by the time I was ready to eat my salad — I noticed half of the toppings I asked for were not included. Instead it was loaded with toppings I didn’t request(i.e. Egg white to boiled egg, green bean to green peas, etc). In addition, the«grilled» shrimp were just plain boiled shrimp — very blend and not worth the $ 2 surcharge. Most of the toppings I did request and receive were given in very minimal quantity(grapeleaf? — u get half, tofu? — a table spoon worth). The tomato basil dressing however was light — thank goodness. But I could have gone with or without the dressing to be honest. $ 10 salads with unlimited toppings might sound like an amazing deal compared to the salad competitors in the neighborhood — but quality + quantity + service + taste = it was just okay.

I pick up lunch from here often. I love the vegetable udon soup, it’s like comfort food to me. I’ve had their chicken parm, baked ziti, salads, breakfast, food from the buffet thing. it’s all good. I used to get my boss an omelette for breakfast today, usually omelettes are served with toast and potatoes — which my boss didn’t want since he was cutting out carbs. Most places still charge you the same price whether you get the potatoes/toast or not but I love the fact that Bistro charges only for the omelette.

A great place to eat if you are in the Midtown area. They have a huge variety of food ranging from Pizzas to Salads to Japanese food to Sandwiches. If you go there, I would recommend getting their Milano Chicken Sandich. Their hero sub is another $ 2 extra but its SO worth it. One of the best Heros I’ve ever had!

If I had reviewed this place 4 weeks ago, I’d give it 4 stars based off of memory. I particularly like this Bistro because of the ramen that they serve. Before I get to the ramen, I’d like to say that this place has a pretty good selection of hot food, salad and oven baked pizzas. The salad is unlimited toppings and they are pretty generous with all toppings, including protein. The hot bar has a couple of things that are pretty tasty — I particularly like the meatballs, the crab/calamari/cheesy dish, and the tilapia. Haven’t tried the pizza but I’d imagine that oven baked pizzas for a midtown fast lunch spot must be somewhat legit if you can run that kind of operation. So onto the ramen. I think this is one of the only fast food places that will serve ramen and udon that they actually cook. Specifically… the ramen isn’t just a pack of instant noodles that they boil and then toss vegetables in. They actually have a pot of broth and cook legit ramen noodles. That’s what I loved about this place… but recently the past 2 times I’ve met, they have been serving me ramen that they cooked prior that have been sitting out so have become a bit soggy or all clumped together. It’s still pretty good… but god that texture is god awful to eat. Perhaps next time I’ll ask them to cook it fresh. The past two times I just assumed they would but clearly something changed during the 3 months that I stopped going there…

Might have found a new lunch spot… Definitely a great alternative to the Delis and«wholesome» food spots on Madison between 50th and 48th st. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was good. I was able to substitute my toppings when I ordered for pickup on Seamless and they got it right. Was made quickly and I got everything I asked for. Should have added jalapeños to my sandwich, maybe next time.

typical deli w/nice selection & quick service. very clean. pay no attention to the address. the entrance is on 51st Street, b/t Park & Madison. Cannot stand it when these places say their address is on Park, and the entrance isn’t within 200 feet of Park. It’s annoying and just bad business.

It’s a solid, more eastern version of duke’s. The food is reasonably priced and there is a lot of it – from ramen soup selections to sandwiches and hot bar. Sandwiches — All the signature /standard ones are good deli sandwiches. They are incredibly efficient(short line typically and you can get cold sandwiches within 2 minutes). The guys behind the counter are friendly as well. They are also accommodating for make your own options, and I end up spending from $ 6.50 to $ 7.50 typically. If you are hungry they have a special hot sandwich(meat from far right serving tray, behind the counter) daily that is often really good — from the cheesesteak to the teriyaki chicken /vegetables. Hot Bar — This is a much cheaper version of dishes. The food is good and the roast beef is a winner. A lot of pasta options and you can get a really filling for ~$ 10. Ramen/Udon — Needs some more seasoning, but passes the bar for a non-asian specialty spot. Note, if you spend over $ 7 they give you a $ 1 off coupon for a future visit.

I’m torn. This was really a 2.75-star review. But, hey. Let’s round up. It was delivery, after all. I ordered the split pea soup, and a chicken salad sammy with bacon and pepper jack on a bialy. I awaited the delivery guy, and he arrived within the estimated time. The soup portion was quite ample. It was far from the best split pea I’ve ever had, as I’m pretty sure it was made with cubed boiled — not smoked — ham… and they cut it with too much broth, which made it half creamy, half brothy. But, still, the inherent flavor palate was present, and it quelled me until I can get something closer to the real deal. My sammy? I think I need to try it fresh in the café. I ordered the Alpine, which was smoked turkey, gouda, sprouts, lettuce, tomato, and mayo(i switched it out for the traditional dijon mustard) on pumpernickel. The sammy was exploding with an overly generous amount of innards… but the bread was soggy and starting to split apart. The flavors were awesome. But the shredded lettuce(a bit of a disappointment there) and sprouts aren’t drained and patted dry. They were wet, like when cafes leave them in water all day to stay«fresh». So, by the time mine was delivered, the greens water mixed with the mayo for quite the soggy bit of pumpernickel. Would I pop in if I were near it? Maybe… But I think I’ll stick with the heartier panini bread from here on out.

Ideal para desayunar y cojer fuerzas antes de patear la ciudad. El precio para un desayuno tipo continental es de aprox 20 $ por persona, muy lejos de los 75 $ por persona que costaba en el NY Palace Hotel

Compared to other choices in Midtown Bistro Café has impressive lunch options, actually, very impressive lunch options. And on the cheaper side too, but don’t worry, they do not skimp on the quality. Like Adam L said, I defaulted to Bistro Café after I saw the mortifying line for lunch at Just Salad. Unlike him, however, I wanted to try Just Salad– I was craving goat cheese, olives, and salmon(I know, weird combo) and they happened to have all those options. When my friends refused to stand in 95 degree weather for a salad with me, I was forced to go to Bistro Café and I’m glad I did. So the café is set up into 4 sections: a hot food bar, a custom made salad preparer, other foods such as sandwiches and pizza, and the cashiers which have a dessert display. I chose to go with the hot food bar since it did have some salad choices and salmon. A big piece of broiled, seasoned salmon-YUM! I did find about 5 bones in it, but it was so good that it didn’t really bother me. I also got a Greek salad which consisted of green pepper, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, and feta(the feta was on the moist side so it was kind of gross). I got an avocado salad which was basically a huge slice of avocado with fresh fruit on it– I usually just like plain avocado so this wasn’t my favorite. And finally I got about 5 sticks of grilled asparagus. Again, there was too much going on. I love salted and peppered grilled asparagus, but this had garlic and other seasonings on it. They either do not have AC or just refuse to put it on because it was hot as hell in there. I absolutely was not sitting in to eat lunch. It gets a little crowded at lunch, but nothing like Just Salad. The price was great for the quality. I paid around $ 6-$ 7 for my hot food and $ 2 for a seltzer(yeah, the seltzer was probably overpriced– next time I’ll stick to the water in the office). But I dare someone to find a place they can get a huge steak of salmon for less than $ 6. I’ll definitely be back, just next time I’ll skip the other options and stick to the salmon!

All the«sheeple» were in a line out the door of Just Salads not knowing that they were missing out on a virtual cacophony of flavors right next door! Café Bistro is VERY good! I ordered the Japanese Chicken U-don soup and it was just plain AWESOME! Unlike the piddling 16oz of soup that I got the day before from Hale and Hearty, I was treated to a virtual Half a Gallon of pure Udon goodness. Stock full of broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, scallions, and noodles, these are your typical ingredient that one would find in this soup. The vegetables were crisp not soggy, the chicken was very tender and the noodles were perfect. I ordered mine spicy and they were sure not to disappoint. This soup helped me out more than Mucinex! I looked at everything else that they have there(sandwiches, sushi, hot entrees, etc.) and while I did not get a chance to sample anything else(no room left in this tummy after that trough of soup!), everything did look quite tasty. Check this place out if you are in the area. Best prices and quality right off of Park Avenue!!!

My team found this place one block away from my office in Midtown. It is conveniently located and easy to get in and out. Service is absolutely excellent! As a result, I am a regular here for lunch. There is a great selection of soups, hot foods, oven baked pizzas, and sandwiches. I have tried almost everything. However, my favorite is by far the French Dipped Hero/Garlic Bread Roast Beef w/Grilled onions sandwich. I usually have it topped with some lettuce, tomatoes, and provolone cheese. Perfect! Enjoy.

At the awakening hour for breakfast where I attained a breakfast sandwich of egg and ham at $ 4.00 was just average without an ecstatic woo-ho. Service is efficient and courteous for the awakening hour in starting the day afresh. A gourmet deli with courteous and efficient service at standard Manhattan Midtown reasonable prices indeed. Seating is ample in a very dark dingy atmosphere. There is even a sushi bar operating separately within this gourmet deli.

Cheapest salad(unlimited toppings!) you’re probably going to find within a 2 block radius. They also offer soba noodles, sushi, hot and cold buffet, pizza, sandwiches etc. I’ve tried the noodles, sushi and buffet — all were okay, nothing to rave about. The unlimited salad bar is definitely the star here.

Mmm the food is solid, consistent and cheap! As a quick grab and go lunch place I’ve only really had their sandwiches. After awhile they also start giving you dollar coupons during the rush hours that is a dollar off if they recognize you.

I got delivery from seamlessweb today and it came so fast. Maybe 15 minutes? A new record. My order was very plain — grilled cheese with bacon and a soda — but they got it right and it hits the spot. Totally reasonably priced and the delivery guy was very nice. Maybe I will go back for these salads everybody is raving about.

I don’t know how people can say this place is any good. The meat is sub par, the toppings for sandwiches won’t blow your mind like a good deli should and nothing has any flavor. On top of that, they always say tha their credit card machine is down so they can’t take cards.

UNLIMITEDTOPPINGSFOR7.50 with a wide variety of dressings. The person making my salad was very patient with me. On the other hand, my bf received a hasty worker where my bf felt rushed. yummm. They also offer a large variety of food: japanese soup/ramen, hot/cold, and hot foods. Great place for lunch during lunch break as it is filled with many collared people. I would give this place a 3 and a half, but that choice is not available.

I’m a fan of this place because of the unlimited salad toppings. I often have to stop myself from getting a little of everything because then I end up with more toppings and barely any lettuce. Plus they have the slightly more unual toppings(such as hearts of palm). Occasionally they’ll try and skimp on the toppings, but if you speak up and ask for more, they’ll give it to you. I’ve also gotten some of the hot-bar food and it’s always been good. Overall, it’s a good value and a consistent quality.

One stop lunch spot. You can get damn near anything here: unlimited toppings salad($ 8.50), hot and cold buffet(per pound), sushi, udon noodle soup, sandwiches(so many varieties), pizza, a variety of drinks(including smoothies), and breakfast items. Everything is fresh. The salads are great but I usually go for the buffet items. It’s just nice to have a hot food option for lunch and they have a good mix of healthy and guilty pleasures.
