Yikes. This place is awful! Would not recommend. Terrible customer service. I am walking out of my way to avoid this place, and I suggest you do the same. zero stars.

What a dump. Cold food, homeless people in the dining area, angry Chinese men by cashiers. Never again.

Don’t go here if you’re looking for an affordable lunch. At $ 7.99/lb on the cold/hot buffet, the price really adds up, especially if you’re getting heavier items like chicken and other meat. Snacks are incredibly overpriced. I went recently wanting a snack in the middle of the day, picked a snack which was $ 2.50. Figured I’d grab a pack of gum while I was there, and it brought my total to $ 5.46. That’s right…$ 2.96FOR A PACKOFGUM. Talk about price gouging. Further, the staff is rude and only interested in getting you out as soon as possible. They can’t even bother a «hi.» I’ll gladly take my business somewhere else.

We found this little gem on our last trip to Manhattan and had lunch there one day and went back for breakfast the next. The people were very friendly and the food was fresh and delicious with a really nice variety. We will definitely visit here again.

The burger was not appetizing at all. It was dry on the inside so that’s why I highly suspect it’s a super old frozen patty… I’ll stick to Graso’s next time when I don’t want to venture too far.

Ordered a croissant with a slice of cheddar and ham on it and was charged $ 7. When I asked about the price they were rude and insisted I was actually getting a bargain because the price of ham was $ 12/lb. Alright then. Will never go here again.

I travel to NYC a few times each year and make it a point to visit Deli on Madison at least a couple times. This past weekend, my friends and I walked from Hell’s Kitchen to Madison Avenue twice because we knew we wouldn’t go wrong with Deli on Madison’s breakfast and buffet. Whether their made to order eggs and potatoes to the fresh fruit, pastas, and innumerable other selections on the buffet, the food is delicious. They didn’t disappoint this trip! Thanks to the entire staff here. Our favorite deli in Manhattan!

We had some truly unimpressive bagels here. I wanted lox, they said«The Nova is frozen, is that okay?» Um, not really. And I’ve had far better cream cheese. If you’re looking for bagels and you find yourself at the Deli on Madison, keep going. But they were setting up for lunch and it looked really good. Maybe we just got the wrong thing.

I like their buffet and their sandwiches even though the guys behind the counter are rude and sketchy. the Asian owners all look nice but i HATE the cashiers especially the unattractive one with dirty looking skin. They rush you, talk about you even before you leave and basically throws down your change but they seem flirty and nice to construction worker types. Too bad the owners seem to be nice but they employ rude people. Food World is bigger, buffet is almost as good as this place but their cashiers and deli guys smile and welcome you like they value your business which makes it a better option for me.

The staff made an error and gave me someone else’s package. Called manager when I discovered it. He was very rude as was the staff. When I returned the package and requested my money back the manager told me I lied about the amount, did not own up to his star error but complained about ME that I was wrong about the dollar amount involved. He was so cheap and obnoxious, as was his staff, that over $ 2.65 he refused to refund me he deserves worse than a bad review. This is a bad business and they dont deserve my business or yours.

Stephanie R is a little off. The place is a bit old and beaten. And the checkout people are grumpy and non responsive to pedestrial greetings. But it ISNYC and I have grown to accept, adapt and become accustomed to the metro-rudeness that makes the Apple turn. As far as roaches I cannot say if seen any, although I do not believe there is a single food item in the city that a roach, rat or mouse hasn’t sniffed, crawled over or investigated. And lastly, if Liberty Deli is only steps away, why continue to suffer the pain of going here? Enough on the negative. Now, if you crave a good breakfast sandwich, with a wide selection of yum to stick inside a fresh and crusty bun, this place has it. Sausages, bacon and hand both pork or turkey variety are available as well as a pretty nice cut of sirloin if a chopped steak is what you pony up your eggs with. Several cheeses to melt upon it and the buns? Wow, nice selection of whole grains, rye or cheese enhanced breads that are all fresh baked and not too crusty. Two types of breakfast potatoes and the pancakes and waffles were also on display as well. My fav is turkey sausage, egg whites and cheddar with a toasty hash brown on top slid into an Asiago roll with a drop of ketchup. Hits the spot. I also sampled some watermelon from. The fresh bar and it was cool, crisp and sweet. So if a roach did crawl over it, he must have loved it because I did . Buffet bars had all fresh items and sneeze guards were in place and tears and serving tools clean and in their place. No offense to Stephanie but the place is a great hit and run and the price is right . Sandwich and a coffee for 7 bucks. I know roaches don’t have hands but if they did they would agree with a 2 thumbs up rating.

I have been suffering through the filthy conditions and beyond nasty cashiers at this place for several years because the line cooks are actually quite pleasant and make a good breakfast wrap. Everyone that works there seems so unhappy as the owner is verbally abusive(as we have all seen on many occasions) and the deli is actually physically dirty. But today was the final straw. And I know this is NY but perhaps they should have someone monitoring the open food bars as today I saw a roach that may as well have had a saddle scampering across the cold fruit trays. That was enough. There are so many options on that very block– avoid this place like the plague. ICK.

I loved this place for it’s «fire» chicken cutlet sandwiches and sour power straws. They have the red as well as the green, a perfect harmony of flavors of sugar shiiiiieeeeeeeeets. Today I ordered the same sandwich I always order, which does not associate itself with mayohaze. Incidentally, my sandwich was slathered in mayo, and I would swear on the Kama Sutra or whatever that the deli man behind the counter knew. HEKNEW. So I’ll never go there again and I hate this place forever. I stood on fiftieth street after handing the sandwich over to a less fortunate fellow and watched him eat the whole thing. He loved it. So if you like mayo and can’t afford food, steal from this place.

They have an upstairs area for you to eat. I like their buffet selection I got pretty much a little bit of everything. I liked the pasta salad thing(not quite sure what to call it lol). They also have a bathroom which is rare to find in NYC.

Stopped by here on a recent walk to catch the Metro North. I was trying to find decent canned beer at a decent price to beat what they sell in Grand Central. This is the only place I found in the area. I made multiple stops on my way from 55th&6th, and none of them sold beer. One around the corner from this place did, but only Bud Light. This place was multiple decent beer options, and one of those ginormous cans will run you a little over $ 4, which is a steal compared to the wee cans they sell in Grand Central at the same price. The hot/cold bar looked decent… prices listed for other things also deemed fair, if not cheap… the guys at the register were super efficient… though they were obviously making construction worker type of comments about passing women on the street while they were moving the line along(language barrier aside, it was that obvious). But still… now I know where to stop for my Metro North stocking. ps — Be warned that they pull that«$ 8 minimum credit card» crap. But they do have bottled wine available for sale.

I come here just about every single morning for breakfast. I’ve gotten bagels w/cream cheese, customized sandwiches(egg whites, spinach and feta on wheat toast or eggs, avocado and cheddar on wheat toast or eggs and bacon on a roll, etc etc). You can get pretty much anything your heart desires. There’s no ordering system, just step up and place your order. The guys are super nice and get your order right 99% of the time. I’ve only ever gotten the buffet for lunch, but some of my favorites are the mac and cheese, marinated tofu, avocados in Italian dressing, spicy somen noodles with shrimp — everything else is just so-so. They have a nice mix of salad bar, asian and american style options. My lunch here is usually about $ 5 but I also get less than a pound of food. They have just about everything you can imagine for purchase too — crackers, cookies, bandaids, wine, beer, cigarrettes, medicine, chips, and a wide selection of drinks — but all of this stuff is super pricey. The ladies who run the cash register are very friendly. They have an $ 8 card minimum, so I usually pay in cash and they are very quick and accurate when giving change.

Wide selection of buffet-style by-the-weight food as well as sandwiches n paninis. Didn’t build much trust in freshness of food, and prices are still high for a deli, but not a bad option for lunch.

Regular, slightly overpriced deli place. Pros: LOTS of variety, decent burger and fries. Sushi was surprisingly good at a pretty good price. Decent seating upstairs. Cons: Got my order wrong when I order over the phone a few times. The pay per pound buffet is pretty expensive compared to other places I’ve been to. Some of the staff is rude sometimes.

Nothing special. My muffin was stale this morning. That said, it’s a good resource for a quick snack if you need one, and they have a nice selection in the hot and cold buffet if you’re willing to risk it.
