I had the spicy chicken sandwich and yuca fries. The service and food was great. I will be back

I wanted the shaking beef and they didn’t have that so they gave me marinated bulgogi instead. I was hungry so it was tasty enough. Meat candy. Dumbo Food Truck lot is turning into slim pickings, so this truck gets a better rating now. 3.5 star rating seems right.

Well, the other Unilocal reviews provide the menu, which does indeed offer a great selection. Another major ‘Oooh yeah baby.!’ factor is the freshness and quality of the LARGE portions of food. They offer Burgers, tacos or rice bowls, interesting sides and I’d just like to add that Big D done me a really BIG, fantastic, yummy vegan lunch which was exceptionally flavorsome and seriously filling for a mere $ 10. Beats the sad, extortionate sandwich shops close by and the Times Square salmonella buffet crew. :-( Excellent food, excellent value and the fellas working the trucks are as tasty as the dishes! Cheers lads! Keep bringing me that Big D. I’m all over it!

My first time here and was looking for some guidance which they quite graciously offered. At their suggestions I tried the spicy pork and it was excellent. Portion was generous. I also had the pork and chive dumpling which was also very good but a bit doughy. Overall it’s very good and worth finding out if they are parked in your area.

This truck is legit. Look for the big yellow truck. I try to go to his truck whenever it is parked on 50th between 6th and 7th. There are 2 trucks; BIGD1 and BIGD2. BIGD1 has all of the originals: * Tacos with either Pork, Beef or Chicken * Rice platters with 1 or a combo of the meats * Grinders with 1 of the meats * Sides: Yuca Fries, Old Bay Fries(my favorite) and dumplings(my favorite) All of the options are tasty and the pricing is fair. One of the best parts is that service is friendly and fast, I have never had to wait for an order for over 10 min even when the line has been super long. BIGD2 has all different types of rice platters, here are the ones I have tried: * Loco Grande(My favorite) — seasoned hamburger patty with gravy and a fried egg over white rice * Vietnamese chicken over pork dirty rice — this is also delicious I highly recommend checking this truck out, it has enough variety to suit your flavor. Don’t forget to ask for one of the many sauces!

I use to bartend an event that hired Big D’s to cater for them and I cannot believe how delicious their tacos are. The meat was marinated perfectly and it was at a great price point. I would def recommend them to anyone looking for a tasty quick bite. *I would advise my fellow Unilocalers to track them on Facebook. They usually update their status to show where they will be parked a couple days in advance.

Great team in the truck at the annual Loving Day event this past weekend. The group is chill, and I love the fusion aspect of their dishes. For example, the bulgogi tacos were delectable, unique, and delicious(3 for $ 10). I only wish I had had room for the chicken ginger tacos!

This truck is dope af!!! and i wasn’t even expecting much So this truck is parked in front of my job midtown 53rd and park every once in awhile and it is awesome. The dude in the truck was super chill I asked him about the menu and his recommendations and I went with it since it was my first time. I ordered 3 Tacos, Bulgogi, Spicy Chicken, and Spicy Pork. I also got a side order of Yuca Fries which was total of $ 11. The tacos were great. And damn that spicy chicken is YOULL. i dont even like chicken tacos like that. It also might’ve been cause it had a generous amount of spicy mayo. It was really good. The Yuca Fries was a pretty large portion container was completely filled. They also gave me Big D’s Sauce. LOLOL anyway, Big D’s sauce is ridiculous. I have no idea what it is but it was great with the Yuca Fries. They also gave me more Spicy Mayo for the Fries like they knew i wouldn’t get enough from the Spicy Chicken. I FU#*KS with Big D and I will definitely be back!

The food was good, but they gave me like four pieces of chicken and a ton of rice for $ 9. Disappointed.

I love Big D food truck that I hired him to cater my wedding. They were organized, energetic, and punctual. Despite the rain they drove up 2.5hrs to the wedding and was early. Everyone at my wedding loved the food.

When I went it was just various Vietnamese style dishes, reminds me a bit of Republic in Union Square. The guy in the truck was helpful and his recommendation, the grilled chicken platter($ 9), was pretty tasty. It came with ample amounts of chicken, nicely marinated, with shredded daikon and carrot pickles and a sweet spicy sauce on the side, all over soy sauce flavored broken rice. Pretty good though TBH I wouldn’t mind a little less meat + carbs and a little more veggies — think raw bean sprouts would go really well here. Let’s face it, it’s hard to find decent Vietnamese food in New York! So I’m perfectly grateful for a Vietnamese food truck. Hope the other dishes are just as good!

FIVEWHOLESTARS for this incredible bulgogi rice platter i’ve got in front of me. I’ve been eyeing this truck for a while but haven’t tried it yet because the food trucks tend to be more expensive than going to the typical ABP/pret/bocca lunch places. I do not regret shelling out $ 10 for this gigantic lunch that’ll probably feed me for lunch tomorrow also. If I can control myself and not eat the entire thing — it’s so so good. The kimchi is awesome paired with this orange mayo sauce with the beef — heavenly. This coming from someone who lives in Flushing and eats a lot of Korean fusion. Dennis, you’re the man. Never stop what you’re doing.

The spicy chicken grinder sandwich is huge and satisfying, but for the love of Vishnu, DONOT bring it into the office unless you want to infuse the place with the smell of freshly pickled vegetables. Because you know Bill from Accounting(who’s never left the US) is going to start complaining about the smell and saying it affects his biweekly asthma. Not that that happened to me. No, sir.

Yes, yet another asian taco vendor. but can there ever really be too many asian tacos? $ 8 for 3 tacos is fair pricing, in my opinion. I got bulgogi(which was probably the best, though maybe a touch too sweet), spicy pork, and ginger chicken. The ginger chicken was tasty, but a bit on the creamy/heavy side. Luckily(or unluckily?) the tacos weren’t super stuffed, so you’ll probably be alright after one or two creamy-sauced tacos. I’m guessing the rice platters would be more filling. The white corn doubled tortillas weren’t bad, actually, not too dry. I went at around 2:15pm, 15 minutes before they closed, and there was no line. Food came out relatively fast, which was appreciated on a cold day. Not a fan of the styrofoam box, but appreciated the quantity of limes, cucumbers, and cilantro. Hoping to try their Khao Cart menu soon!

Another food truck! I was actually being attracted by their card which had large Big D’s logo on it. Decided to try rice platter, which essentially can judge the quality of all food truck. I got the spicy chicken, not as good as I thought as the chicken looked a little bit dark… probably I was being too picky… sorry Big D!

I made sure to ask what type of chicken meat Big D’s uses in its dishes, and was pleased to learn that they use dark meat. Sold! I got the rice platter($ 10) with ginger chicken. It was a fairly hefty portion and a good balance of chicken, sauce, rice and sides(diced cucumber, carrot/radish slaw and kimchi). Meat was tasty and tender, and the rice was good too. The only complaint I have is that my food came in a styrofoam container :(I’d love to see them be more ecological and switch to something paper-based or at least recyclable plastic. Plus styrofoam isn’t microwavable, which was inconvenient when I wanted to reheat my leftovers the next day. Note: The truck was parked at 50th&6th Ave when I went on a Tuesday.

okay, so i’ll admit it… i love big d’s. yeahisaidit. great food truck choice near my midtown office(parked on 52nd between 6th and 7th every wednesday lately). big d’s is a nice alternative to street meat from halal guys nearby… swap street meat with white sauce for some of big d’s special sauce and massive grinders. yum. the grinders are huge, and they’ll only run you $ 8. the spicy pork grinder is as close to a banh mi sandwich you’ll get in the vicinity. the spicy pork is really nicely flavored, the slaw is yummy, and the large chunks of cucumber add a nice textural component. the meat is good quality for a food truck– none of those yucky fatty bits to spit out. the downside(and this is pretty important): the bread. the bread isn’t toasted on the inside and is super soft… so once it’s topped with juicy meat and veggies, it disintegrates into a mushy, unpleasant mess. maybe if it were toasted on the inside, it would hold up better… or it might be time for a new denser, crusty-er bread. the best: big d’s yucca fries with spicy mayo. super delish, super big portion for $ 3. only bad thing is when they run out :( i’ll keep coming back for more– can’t wait to try the tacos and the dumplings. hopefully, the truck will be around on a regular basis… dear big d’s, please don’t stop coming to midtown on wednesdays. (now get yo’ mind outta tha gutter and get some).

Just devoured(!) a super-sized rice platter with both spicy pork and spicy chicken. Cilantro is awesome. And I was hit with a wave of that awesome scent as soon as I opened my platter. The creamy spicy mayo on the chicken was balanced by the spiciness of the Korean pork, accentuated further by the cilantro and scallions topping the meat. But meat alone is never enough– it needs some veggies and spice to bring out true succulence, and Big D’s daikon salad and crunchy cucumbers worked perfectly with the saucy pieces of chicken and pork. I also tried the pork and chive dumplings that came with two sauces, a spicy soy sauce and a citrus-y ginger glaze. I am a huge fan of the citrus and these dumplings are pretty bomb.(They are similar to chinese-style dumplings with thick skin and a lot of meat!) I came back to Big D’s because I found the owner, Dennis K, to super passionate about what he does and caring about the food he puts out. There’s a LOT of FLAVOR, and it’s a complete meal which is sometimes hard to expect from a truck. Compared to the other food trucks in the area, Big D’s stands out because he definitely has a lot of pride in his offerings and you will definitely leave feeling full and satisfied!

The Random House food trucks were purged by the cops about a month ago. I know what you’re thinking. What is this world coming if anonymous strangers can’t cook food on the streets to sell to the masses? Way to go, de Blasio. Luckily the trucks have slowly been filtering back in. With a few favorites missing in action, I decided to give Big D’s a try. I had seen it for awhile but always passed in favor of trucks I was more familiar with. Also, I find the whole Asian-style tacos fad kind of odd. Putting that aside $ 7 for 3 tacos is a pretty good deal. I got the spicy pork, bulgogi and spicy chicken tacos as suggested by the guy running the truck. The spicy chicken was my favorite. It really wasn’t spicy mind you, but it was flavorful and the meat used was good quality. The tortillas were light, slightly sweet, and held up well to their fillings. I could’ve done with less cucumber on top of each taco though. The bulgogi was okay but a little dry, with the scallions on top helping somewhat. The spicy pork was decent too but again it wasn’t spicy. All of this food left me full for $ 7, which is no small feat in Midtown. Maybe not the absolute best food truck around but Big D’s is definitely a worthwhile truck to have around – especially since they evidently aren’t afraid of the police. I’d definitely give this another shot next time I’m out of ideas for lunch.

Hungry for some lunch? Get the rice platter with spicy chicken and some Sriracha on top! The chicken is very flavorful and the spicy mayo is a great addition to spread around your rice. The daikon is sweet and crispy, and mixes well with the cucumber that comes with the chicken. The fragrant rice did a great job balancing out all the different flavors and tastes. Oh and all this delicious lunch can be had for just $ 10. Well worth a try!
