I ordered through Seamless — got the oshinko roll, sweet potato tempura roll, and mango hand roll, all tasty. The vegetable tempura was also decent, though starting to get a little soggy. However, I also ordered the beef negimaki, which was not so good. The beef had a strange texture and was relatively tasteless — definitely needed at least some salt. They also forgot the rice, which left me eating straight beef and scallion for dinner. I called immediately to tell them, and once we were clear about what happened, the woman asked me if it was fine just to leave it. Kind of an offensive suggestion — the staff should start out by apologizing and suggesting they could bring a new one right away, or take the whole item off the bill. They did say they’d bring another, but that took another 40 minutes, which is just about as long as it would have taken to make some rice in my rice cooker. Mistakes happen, but they should be handled better.

Cute small place, the staff was nice and the food came in a timely fashion. I had the chicken tempura roll and California roll and it was delicious.

If I could give 0 stars I would. They are disgusting and infested with all sorts of bacteria. Ordered seamless from them and got severe food poisoning. DONOTORDERFROMHERE

False advertising and Rude! They advertise 15 minutes wait time on seamless web — an hour later I call and they act annoyed and rude that I am calling. Instead of apologizing they say«we are very busy in here tonight». Very abrupt and rude. The food delivered looked like it was slopped together in 5 minutes. I don’t imagine this place will stay in business very long.

I really hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else, but I found a worm in my sashimi salad from this place. I called the restaurant and they apologized and seamless gave me a refund but it doesn’t seem like they’re taking any other action. Just be careful when you eat raw fish. I’ve learned my lesson.

If I could give no stars, I would. The loud, rude staff members made this the worst sushi experience I’ve had in New York. Not to mention this place is DIRTY!!! Avoid at all costs!!!

Most reviews have been posted by diners who order out many of whom complain mostly delivery delays. Though important, that is less so when ordering delivery of dishes other than sushi – tempura, endamame etc. Sushi rarely travels well so it’s unfair to judge it unless you do that in the restaurant; preferably at the sushi bar To steal a thought from Mark TwaIn, the difference between dining on traditional cooked Japanese fare and sushi, is like the difference between lightning and a lightning bug! Assuming the quality of the fish to be superb and the freshness first-rate, observing its preparation by an experienced sushi chef cannot be separated from its consumption. The appreciation of this delicacy should be a culinary event and cannot be compared to scarfing a Big Mac while driving to the beach! Having said that, here’s my not-so-humble review of my first(and probably last|) visit to my new neighbor Aki Sushi, formerly the far superior Yuka. The prices are fair, especially since the portions are about double the size of Yuka’s. The service is polite, efficient and friendly. But the rice is poorly prepared and tasteless. Sushi rice must be served at room temp and should have been ever so lightly sweetened.(Rookie sushi chefs in Japan are never permitted to handle the fish until after a year or more learning how to prepare the rice). Furthermore the chef failed to place a dab of wasabi on the rice bed of each piece to act as a sort of glue thus preventing the fish from sliding off on it’s way to the soy-sauce bath. (The proper way to do this is to invert the sushi before dipping so that the fish and not the rice hits the soy first. My Japanese friends were horrified to see me doing it the wrong way telling me it was like putting ketchup or mustard on the bun instead of the burger or hot dog)– I like my new neighbor Aki and hope they prosper. Unless they get their act together, although they might riot miss me, regrettably they can’t count on my return.

Absolutely dreadful. Do not go. The sushi and sashimi portions were pathetic worst Japanese food I have ever had I have only awarded one star because zero is not an option

Don’t even bother going to this place. Staff is miserably rude. You would think when a restaurant is slow they would try and be nice so you stay longer or come back. Being in the service industry you would think that they would know how to treat people. I went with a friend and half way through our meal, she took our food without asking and put it in the garbage. We asked her why and she said oh thought you were done. Then wanted us to pay full price for a meal we didn’t even get to finish. There are far too many sushi restaurants around, don’t waste your time with this one

So here’s the thing… they said it would be 15 – 30 minutes and it was over 45 for delivery. I had to pay for spicy mayo and the sushi rolls are small. They pack the container with lettuce to deceive you. Yes the sushi was delicious but it’s not enough for what you pay for, 65 $ for 4 rolls.

Sushi was okay. The place is small and coZy. Looks clean. Service was okay, waitress wasn’t too attentive. Beautiful bathroom.

I lived right next to Aki for a year and really, really wanted to like it. However, it’s just not that good. The prices are pretty fair and the service is quite attentive. Between those two factors it definitely earns 3 stars. It’s not a poor option for sushi, but Considering Kobe is right up the block I would find myself avoiding this place a good part of the time. Trust me.

Be aware!!! Got food poisoning from this location Sunday night. Have been vomiting for over 24 hours. Its day 2 now, I am still laying in bed and can’t keep anything in. I had the Under Control Roll that had spicy salmon and shrimp tempura in it. My friend has gotten food poisoning from the Aki sushi Murray Hill location last year. Just know that it’s never a good idea to go to a dingy sushi place on a Sunday night!

Terrible. Just terrible. Ordered delivery through with a coworker when we were stuck in the office late one night. We received our order within an hour of submitting. Our sashimi appetizer was inedible. I lifted the lemon wedge off the piece of salmon and found distinct discoloration on the salmon. How long had it been sitting there? I should have taken a picture. The tuna had a greyness to it. Another piece of fish I tried was mushy and smelled bad. Basically, the sashimi texture was of defrosted frozen fish. Unacceptable. The miso soup was weak and lacked flavor. I can’t believe anyone thinks this place is good at all. I feel sorry for you — you have probably never tasted fresh GOOD sushi. How sad.

When I want Japanese for lunch, in the immediate area, I head to Aki Sushi. Nothing truly outstanding, but the food is consistent, the sushi is well prepared and fresh. I’ve been pleased with the lunch specials, including the Sashimi and the Chirashi. The unagi and salmon hand rolls are my favorites and good bang for buck. Lunch time warning, lots of loud adolescent groups yammering away on their lunch break, mostly in French. On the flip side; the service is quiet, attentive and professional.

Wow — AKi is still open? I vacillate between 2&3 stars. Not horrible — but definitely not great. Inexpensive for lunch. Decent for delivery(can be slow — so know that before you call.) With so many better choices(Sushi of Gari is a few block North) I usually skip Aki.

I ordered from seamless after I saw the 5 star 1400+ ratings. I kind of expected it to be better than just average. I used the $ 10 off $ 15 seamless code promotion and got the whole thing delivered + tip for $ 5.01. I ordered the 3 roll lunch special: salmon avocado roll, spicy yellowtail roll, and spicy salmon roll. Salmon avocado roll was typical of any other place. Spicy yellowtail was kind of gross because it tasted like it was half cooked. My favorite was the spicy salmon roll — cut up(instead of mashed) salmon with the typical spicy sauce. I didn’t like that my sushi was warm. Gross. The miso soup was bland. I actually enjoyed the salad and the ginger dressing though.

Be wary of any place that has 1,000+ ratings on Seamless — it’s like those eBay sellers that have highly inflated ratings. THISPLACEISTERRIBLE!!! I cannot emphasize this enough. First of all, the FOODISNOTJAPANESE. At all. I plan on posting a picture on Unilocal!,but, the gyoza were nasty, we ended up not eating most of it – even dogs wouldn’t eat this crap. This is aside the fact that they were extremely late on delivery, and when I called to complain, the owner, «Mike,» told Seamless that they delivered on time. I have an e-mail confirming order time and cell phone records of my calling them TWICE to check on status. Then, they offered«$ 5 off the next order» when my order was ~$ 80 including a $ 7 tip.
