I came here after a night of drinking and it was the perfect meal. I’ve never tried korean tofu after drinking, but it certainly beats having phở. The restaurant is massive and has plenty of seating. The seafood tofu was pretty mild and light. Kimchi side dish is sweeter than spicier. My meal also came with a fried fish, which I thought was pretty random. The fried fish was kind of difficult to eat because it has so many small bones. Service was alright. It was sometimes hard to waive down a waiter since they are so busy serving the many many tables here.

This is probably my favorite Korean restaurant in NYC. every time I’m in ktown or nearby, I always have to come here. My GF knows this and makes fun of me, but then enjoys the meal just as much as I do They have THE fastest, most efficient service I’ve ever seen. I’ve never come here with a large group, but as 2, I’ve always been seated in a reasonable amount of time if not immediately. You can tell that turnaround time is a primary concern for the business owner here. Quick with seating, side dishes, ordering, and checks. The food is amazing! They have a small and simple menu and of course, as per Korean standards, a variety of side dishes that come with the meal. Once you order, you will get these dishes within 10 seconds. you will also never leave this place still hungry. Of the side dishes, I like the Kimchi the best. The seafood pancake here is above average, wetter than usual seafood pancakes I have. This does not take away from the taste, but adds a different, chewy texture to the pancake. It should be obvious that their staple is the tofu soup, but perhaps not as obvious — the best one is the Pork. The soup comes with a bowl of rice, a small egg and another bowl of rice with Barley«soup». The tofu soup is flavorful, goes perfectly with rice and super filling! Get mild if you don’t like or can’t handle spice and Regular is a good medium heat that adds to the dish. I will definitely be coming here again. and again. A classic spot to get great Korean food, and huge portions at decent prices.

Awesome place. Soft tofu soup is a Korean classic people must try. Yes people, Korean BBQ is not all there is to Korean cuisine. They have various kinds of soft tofu soup and I got the seafood one. the broth was incredible. I got the highest level of spicy. It wasn’t that spicy but it tasted very good. Everyone in my group ordered different types of tofu soup and they all loved it. I say challenge yourself in terms of spice level. It’s very crowded ALLTHETIME. I went on a Wednesday night at 8pm and waited almost 30 minutes for a table of 5. So be prepared to wait sometimes! It’s worth it.

Ever since they moved(a while ago), the quality of the food and the service dramatically dropped! Service: The moment we were seated, the waitress came and ask for our order when we didn’t even have menu yet! Then when we were ready to order(few minutes later…) we needed to flag a wait staff down as if our life depended on it. Throughout the meal, no one came to check on us(that’s fine…) however, what really bothered me was when we were ready to leave, we had a lot of left over however, the waitress was in such a rush to get us out, she never heard my request to pack everything… she brought only 1 container and just packed 1 of the tofu hotpot(we had 1 more that needed to be packed along with the pancake) when I asked her again, she just placed empty containers on the table and flung a plastic bag towards me. The hot pots were still hot. .she had a mitten to help her but I end up burning myself since she refused to help!!! Food: Seafood pancake = nothing special, if you like extra scallions vs. seafood mix… then you would definitely like their version. Tofu hotpot with seafood(regular) = again, nothing special, the seafood mix still had the fridge taste! Tofu hotpot with pork(spicy) = again, nothing special, not as spicy as I was warned and the pork is more like bits vs. slices. I’ve had this numerous times(in this place as well as others) and for the first time, I had it where the tofu was not silken … it had a skin on it… huh??? It was such a disappointing visit… they are doing nothing to standout in the mist of options available within that block alone!

This place is good. I like their nengmyun and soondubu’s. Kind of chainy but they do well. They used to serve the nengmyun in ice bowls but don’t anymore. I love their fried fish app. Comes With the meal. Not the best nengmyun I’ve had but still good!

If you’re craving tofu stew, BCD is one of the better options in Koreatown. It gets packed around dinnertime(waited approx. half an hour for two people) but the wait time is expected of a decent restaurant on W 32nd street. The interior is clean and spacious; the second floor partial loft lends to an open first floor with high ceilings. The menu is concise, but does offer other traditional Korean dishes on top of soondoobu(like kalbi beef short ribs and pajeon pancake). Each soondoobu is around $ 14, which is reasonably priced for midtown Manhattan. Protein toppings you can choose from include(but are not limited to) beef, pork and seafood. I ordered the beef soondoobu, which comes served with white rice. It’ll also come with a small bowl of porridge at the end; the rice cooked in a stone pot is scraped and tea is poured over it. There are five degrees of spiciness ranging from Plain to Danger — I went with regular spicy, right in the middle. As soon as we placed our order, we were served complimentary side dishes(banchan). The side dishes will vary daily, and on this day there was kimichi, spicy raw squid, bean sprouts, pickles, seaweed and bok choy(see picture). We were also given raw eggs for cracking into the soondoobu later. Each person is also given a small whole fried fish(yellow croaker) to start. Of the two we got, one was cold from sitting around for some time(disappointing!), while the other was fresh and hot. Also, be careful of the bones as you take apart the fish. The soondoobu is boiling when it’s brought out, served in a small stone pot. The stew stays piping hot at the beginning; as much as you’ll want to slurp down the rich, spicy soup and bite into the soft tofu, take it slow(you’ve been warned!). While the tofu was quite soft, I expected it to be much silkier — hey, if you’re going to call yourself a tofu house, I expect the best! Overall, BCD is a very solid option for a meal in K-town, especially if you need to get your spicy tofu stew fix.

Out of all the korean food options, I would rank BCD tofu as one of the ones on the bottom. I actually don’t like their soondubu that much. Their tofu is good but when I want tofu soup I want my tofu to be soft and super savory. I do really appreciate that they give out a lot of banchan(korean side dishes). Their fried pork and bulgogi is on point tho. Their lines can also get super long!

I love the tofu soup here! I have been here for few time and always get the tofu soup combo. I love the beef plus seafood tofu soup, it comes with an egg, a medium sized fired fish(黄花鱼), many different Korean pickles and a bowl of rice. They have 5 levels of hotness to chose. Once I ordered the hottest one which called Danger, only one spoon of soup, I’m done with it. Lol it’s really hot hot! I only had the rice with side dishes at the meal. Lol. So if u r not a person who can really handle super spicy food, better stay away from the top level. But u could also give a shot as I did. Haha which I was regret right away after first bite. Lollll Good thing is you can reorder the side dishes without any extra money. The pickles there are tasty, not too salty at all. The restaurant seems really popular, every time I go, it’s full. I guess it’s better to make a reservation if u go there for dinner, especially weekends. I never did it tho, the longest time I had waited was just about 30 mins and it’s weekend night, so it’s reasonable. Id give four stars, but as to the service, it’s just OK. I didn’t see smiling faces, instead of kinda grumpy… The waitresses were impatience n unfriendly.

When I was younger, growing up in Seoul, my dad used to take me hiking every weekend at a small mountain in the city. It was not an easy hike for a little girl, but when I did the trail up and down, my dad would reward me(and himself!) with kimchi tofu stew at a food truck at the bottom of the mountain. It was simple, but very delicious. Whenever I eat kimchi tofu stew now, I want to replicate that same tasty experience and BCD does it well. I always get the«mild» spicy, and the spice level comes out perfectly. The tofu has soft, smooth texture and just melts in your mouth. And I love that they include healthy Korean side dishes, like bokchoy, kimchi and dried black beans. My review is purely from a delivery standpoint — I’ve never actually eaten inside the restaurant but if the delivery food comes as fresh and delicious as it does, I’m sure it’ll be just as great in-house. My only question is, what’s with the fried fish they send along with every order?! I don’t want it and it is always included in my delivery for some reason.

Food: The food here was great — my friend and I both got the mixed tofu soup(with both beef and seafood) medium-spicy, which we both really enjoyed. It’s typically eaten with rice, but since I was trying to cut back on carbs, I ate it alone and it was still delicious. They weren’t stingy with the beef and the seafood, which was awesome, and it really filled both of us up. Be careful with chewing when you’re eating the soup though — the seafood is served in shell(clams, mussels, etc.), and I found a broken piece of shell which I bit down on really hard :(Just be careful. Still super tasty. The small dish appetizers that they gave us to start were delicious as well. I especially liked the fried fish, which was a little different from what is normally served, but they also had all the basics that are typically served. Service: The service here was good. There was a bit of a wait — lots of people waiting around the entrance. You can’t really put your name down before your entire party arrives. We were lucky — my friend arrived a few minutes after me and we were told that we would have to wait 20 – 30 minutes. However, the party of two who’s name was before ours wasn’t present at the time, so we were actually seated within a few minutes, barely any wait. We were seated at a table pushed up against the wall, a small space, but manageable. I had to figure out where to put my bag, since there wasn’t enough space between our table and the next table to hang it from my chair. Ended up having to put it between my legs. I’ve experienced more cramped spaces though, so it really wasn’t that bad. The waitress was quick and professional, not very talkative. Our apps came out very quickly and our entrees came out right when we were finishing them up — very good timing. Ambiance: The service here was quick, but not so much that we felt rushed. Thus, the ambiance was professional and clean cut, but comfortable. The food is delicious, so I wouldn’t oppose to bringing a date here, but you could definitely find a more intimate or romantic spot. I would recommend this place for a family dinner or a casual catch-up between friends.

Yup, I’m obsessed with BCD Tofu House. They offer a plethora of banchan(appetizers), bubbling hot stew with pillow-soft tofu, rice, and an entire fried fish! They also provide an egg that you crack into the boiling soup(mix it or let it poach), which adds some creaminess :) Great korean food and conveniently located near Penn Station, in case you’re traveling and want to fill up before a journey.

I’ve grown to love the appetizers such as the kimchi, fish, macaroni salad, pickles, egg and more! The drinks are also not bad. I love how this place is open until late. When we are in the area late at night, this is one of our top go-to spots. The waiters have always been consistent and attentive. One time, they forgot to bring the tofu soup that came with an entrée. They checked the menu and immediately apologized. They brought the tofu soup and then cracked the egg for us. Another time, there was a pot and stone dish that was so hot that it actually stuck onto the table. The waitress was shocked but we eventually removed it slowly without damaging the table. Though I’m not a fan of the tofu soups, I like ordering the kalbi and other beef & kimchi dishes!

I’ve been here a few times, the staff is very welcoming, except for one day we came in as a group from work, and the staff tried so hard but couldn’t figure out a way to accommodate the group. Our CEO was here so my COO got very upset… but food was great, that little mezzanine/2nd floor up there, is steaming hot, I don’t know how you could eat a tofu soup there(and I did, twice). Their tofu is organic, their menu is easy to understand, slightly over priced($ 12.99 for lunch), I always order a soondobu(either seafood or beef or mix), you get to choose your spicy level, I normally like it regular, but today I had the mild, that actually opened the door for me! They do give you a generous number of side dishes that I could never finish, I like the way they cook their rice, pearly and chewy, dip inside the tofu soup, both are tasty. I can’t rave enough about the tofu, it’s not the silky soft type that would smash in the soup, but silky and hard enough to remain in good pieces.

After realizing how often I come here I had to give it 5 stars. Ask for the late night special– starts after 10:30pm. There is a separate menu. For some reason they do not voluntarily give it so just ask them and tell them you want the late night special. You can get soondubu plus galbi for only $ 22. SUPERFILLING. I got the seafood soodubu aka tofu soup with clams and shrimp. The galibi was delicious as well, came over a bed of onions– I LOVEONIONS. There’s other items on the menu but I think this is the best deal. You can pick how spicy you want your soup… I got spicy… bad idea in the morning but tasted really good at the time. Obviously I will be back… :D

Excuse me, I don’t think I ordered a side of attitude with my lunch. Me and my husband stopped by Tofu House for lunch a couple days ago and felt disrespected. It was Monday around 3−4pm so the place was not crowded at all. The hostess quickly sat us down in the middle of the restaurant. Our table was extremely close to the table next to us… basically, it almost looked like a four-seater instead of a 2. I have attached photos for reference. The first thing the old granny waitress said to me was not welcome but with a frown on her face, she physically grabbed my coat from the chair next to me and handed it to me, saying, «please no put coat on this chair because it is separate table.» I looked confused as there were plenty of empty seats around us. Being an educated and polite person, I decided to rest the coat on my lap, which I eventually put back on the chair because my legs were starting to sweat. After about 10 minutes, the granny waitress came back and took our orders. She did not make a single eye contact with us and literally snatched the menu out of my husband’s hands. I could feel myself trembling inside and that usually happens when I feel disrespected. Some other guy came over and placed a bunch of appetizers on our table. We had each a fried fish a bunch of pickled vegetables to share. The fish was delicious but the Kimchi was a little bland for me. Soon after, our main dishes, Beef tofu soup for me and Seafood tofu soup for my husband, arrived and obviously it was overcrowding our little table. I looked around again and me and my husband were the ONLY people in that section. I moved the table next to us closer to move some of our appetizer dishes onto the separate table. It gave us more room to share our tofu soup. Suddenly, granny waitress rushes over, puts the appetizers back on our table and separated the table next to us again. She looked angry and said, «don’t move table please!» and left. She was like the furniture nazi, sniping us from all directions, making sure we weren’t moving other chairs or tables, literally an inch, closer to our table. I was immediately annoyed and could not enjoy my food. I was literally so disrespected that I could barely swallow any of the soft tofu. BCD Tofu House needs to hire people who actually wants to work there. The granny should just retire if she’s going to bring her menopausal self to work and serve the customers attitude. My husband insisted on leaving her a 20% tip even though she deserved zero and maybe a spit in the face. I will definitely NOT be coming back.

BCD is SO comforting on a cold day. The rice is the best, it’s so moist and soft. They also scrape the bottom of the rice bowl and soak it in barley tea to let you eat/drink it at the end of your meal. Side dishes are also yummy, and you can always ask for seconds. Sometimes you don’t even need to ask and they’ll give it to you. I saw that it was recently voted the best restaurant in Ktown, so it’s usually super packed especially for dinner. So I guess the wait can be a bit frustrating. Another negative is that when you come out, you usually smell a lot. Your sweater or coat will be covered with the smell and it’s not that pleasant. Note: They have levels of spiciness. Even if you really like spicy, I would recommend not getting the«danger» level spicy because it’s not even spicy. It actually diminishes the flavor of the actually soup. I would suggest either«hot,» or maybe even«regular.»

Delicious Korean restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. — FOOD: As a vegetarian, I’m drawn to a restaurant with«tofu» in the name, but there are plenty of meat options here as well. This is probably my favorite place for bibimbap — my favorite Korean dish — and I would highly recommend going the extra step for the hot stone bibimbap. — FORTHEVEGGIES: The tofu bibimbap is delicious, and they also have flavorful vegetarian tofu stew, which is the dish they are known for. — SERVICE: The service has been consistently friendly, attentive, and quick here. They often work through long lines and rush times efficiently, without sacrificing good service. — ATMOSPHERE: This is a good size restaurant, so it can get a bit noisy at peak times. The décor is classy but not overwhelming, so it is a nice balance of elegant and casual.

This is one of the better BCD places. Despite this place being pretty big, there can be a long wait during busy hours of lunch and dinner. But they’re also open 24 hours, which is a huge plus if you’re in the area partying and get hungry. The waiters there are NOT that nice, and are very snappy and impatient when you ask questions about the menu. They don’t really check on you while you’re dining, but there are people going around refilling water, which is good. The food comes out really fast, which is good or bad depending on how you look at it. They also give bon chon(little appetizer dishes), and is better quality than some of the other ones I’ve had.

This is a good choice if you’re in the mood for Korean food. My table ordered a scallion pancake, jap chae, oyster soondubu and beef soondubu. The pancake was pretty average to me, the jap chae was tasty, and the soondubu soups were awesome on this cold night. I personally liked the beef one better than the oyster. But I’d definitely recommend the jap chae and soondubu to anyone. Overall, it was a good experience. We only had to wait about 10 – 15 minutes on a Sunday evening. I have no complaints about the service here. If I’m ever in the mood for warm tofu soup, I’ll come here again.

This is a great spot to have your favorite Korean dishes especially if you are into tofu soups! I came here for my birthday on a Friday evening. I knew that the place would be crowded so I came a little before 5pm as they do not take reservations but it was already packed! The host would not seat the four of us until all of us were present so I did have to wait for the rest to arrive. I was happy to be seated right away when everyone had arrived. Three of us had different tofu soups and a friend got the bibambap. We also shared the chicken teriakyi. It took a while to get attention from our waiter but it was pretty busy. Our food came quick enough as we were enjoying the side dishes brought to us. Btw, the fish from the side dish was amazing! Overall, I loved the food here-it was pretty darn delicious and filling! And our service was taken care of nicely despite it being busy.

While all authentic Korean restaurants and BBQ essentially blend together with similar appetizers, soups, bibimbap, noodles … This place by far stands out as one of the best in terms of service, staff, efficiency, and quality/quantity of food. When I have a craving for authentic soondubu(tofu soup), I gravitate here! My go-to dish is the kimchi/beef/seafood soondubu(option of mixed combinations possible too). It comes out screaming and sizzling, waiting for your tongue to burn and be numbed to the max. Go for the lunch special which runs until 3pm on weekdays. The difference rests on how the rice is served(lunch hours … It comes out in a casserole pot and scooped out, then the remainder in the pot gets inundated and infused with brown rice tea before being scooped out to complete your meal). I love the ample amount of side dishes. Plus there is a small fried fish as part of the initial appetizer course. Honestly, with the ever changing variety of the appetizer dish, you can get away with the entrée. Great chain, from California to NY baby. Highly recommended when you want a nice bowl of hot and soft tofu soup in the cold winter in NY at least :)

Price: 4⁄5 Quality: 5⁄5 Service/atmosphere: 5⁄5 I’ve been ordering the same thing for the past 6 years(save the sad ~1.5 year period when they closed for remodeling). Kimchi soondubu with pork, either mild or regular. What a solid meal(well, not literally though). The town I grew up in within the Bay Area didn’t have a huge Korean population, so moving to New York and discovering Ktown was like being transported into a new culinary world. I grew up eating broths, noodle soups, or congee/porridge on a daily basis, so soondubu was like the Korean version of home to me. Tofu, I admit, can be pretty boring on its own. It tastes bland alone and has this weird silky texture to it. But put it in a bubbling hot bowl of spicy soup with kimchi?! Damn. This is why I always overeat when I’m walking too close to 32nd street. The rice is always made very well, their side dishes are always a tasty selection(though can you please bring back radishes?), and if you order soondubu, you get a tiny fried fish before your meal. It’s cute, and as a person who’s still acclimating towards a diet involving seafood, the fish is pretty good. Net: come here and have soondubu, 24 hours a day

This place is the perfect spot when its really cold outside. I went to BCD Tofu House with a couple of friends. I ordered Mushroom Soondubu, which is boiling hot tofu with mushroom. When you order Soondubu you can request how spicy you want it to be. I ordered it mild and it came out pretty nice. My friends ordered bibimbap. They said their food was delicious. Our food came with banchan. Some of the side dishes include fish, kimchi, and a couple of other vegetables. Service is pretty good. The waitresses would always refill our cups with water. For some reason my raw egg never got cooked after cracking it in the dish so I asked if my dish could be reheated. They had absolutely no problem doing that. The cooked egg gave the dish some really nice flavor.

This place really hit the spot on a very cold January day. The dumpling Soon Tofu was great. I like that they give you an option of spiciness levels. I chickened out and got medium which was just right. The banchan served with the meal was great and I could have just had that for the meal. I especially enjoyed the little fried fish that was included in the banchan. We also ordered the Jap Chae which was very good. Service is efficient and friendly. When we first entered the host told us there would be a 20 minute wait but it ended up waiting less than 5. I guess divide by 4 when they give you a waiting time. It seems like they have done this to others. The only downside was the space. It has a kind of Communist era blandness to it. No problem just focus on your terrific meal.

I love this place! Even though you can basically get soondubu at any Korean restaurant(I think) this is the only place I go to for it. I loveee their seafood soondubu. I love seafood so it can never go wrong. I love their many side dishes especially their unique one — the fish. Probably the only place I know that has that as a side dish. They give unlimited refills for side dishes so it’s amazing. They have different ones sometimes but they’re all so good. They always give you this cinnamon soup with rice on the side which my Korean friend said it’s for digestion. They have a ton of things on the menu but I’ve only ordered the soondubu and kalbi. I should probably give the other stuff a try lol but all in all this place is a great spot to go to with friends especially when it’s late at night and you don’t know where to go or what’s still open, this is the spot to go.

Been to other BCD houses in Flushing and Bayside and they all taste similar, this one was nothing out of the ordinary. Perfect kind of food for a cold winter night. Bonus to all the side dishes they provided. Never had to call a waiter over to refill the side dishes or our tea. Service was great and waiters were all professional and friendly. BCD Tofu is a big two-floor Korean restaurant in Korea Town that specializes in tofu stew. A friend recommended this spot. I came with a different friend on a weekend night and snagged a table in less than 10 minutes. The first thing I noticed was the space. There are tons of seating and the high ceilings make this place feel more like a castle than a New York City restaurant. They were PACKED when we came. Their menu is in English. I ordered the tofu stew and got the spicy level. The spicy level(there’s one more level above spicy) seemed like a good choice… but… man, it was spicy! I even watered the stew down with some water to make it easier to eat. So don’t worry about your food not being spicy enough — they don’t inflate their spicy-ness! Spicyness aside, the food is not spectacular. My friend ordered the dolsot bibimbap(fried rice in a hot pot with a variety of veggies), and it was slimy and not as delicious as it should be! Their banchan(side dishes) come free for the table(as it should!). It’s a nice assortment, and I especially liked the macaroni pasta. It was a nice balance with the spicy tofu stew. Don’t worry about asking for more banchan. When I eat Korean food, I usually ask two or three times for refills on side dishes. BCD Tofu is a great option for vegetarians(not vegans). They have a veggie menu, and most of the side dishes are vegetarian friendly except the obvious ones. Our server brought out an entire fried fish, but we sent it back. There’s plenty of seating and BCD Tofu can easily accommodate large groups if you plan or wait enough. BCD Tofu is a great choice, but I hope to find a tastier tofu spot in NYC. I would come back here if I was with a large group or a Korean-food newbie.

Best soondubu in NYC. I travel to New York frequently for work and at the end of a hard day, I just want some soondubu. The line is usually out the door(even on weekdays) so I call ahead 15 minutes and get takeout. The takeout here is AWESOME. It comes with a bunch of side dishes and even a small fried yellow croaker. It’s more than enough food for one person. I usually order the seafood soondubu(hot) and I’ve never been disappointed. Lots of yummy clams, mussels, shrimp and plenty of tofu. The soup has the perfect amount of spicy without sacrificing taste. If you’re out with friends then definitely hit up this place early, but if you’re alone and craving soondubu, the takeout is totally worth the trip.

Table for 3 please! Went Friday night at 6pm and did not have to wait at all even though there was plenty of people waiting for a table. I’m guessing they were waiting for a table for 2 or 6. There’s actually 3 floors to this place. Main dining room on the 1st floor, some more tables on the 2fl landing, and a tables on the 3fl, sort of the balcony level. Seafood pancake — 1 size only. It was good with a decent amount of seafood and a good ratio of batter: seafood. It was crispy and not soggy. The dipping sauce was good. The waitress cut and served the pancake to us individually. Spicy pork belly — my friend and I are the type to order based on the pictures and there was a decent amount of pictures on the menu. The dish itself looked so good and tasted so great. The pork belly was slightly fried. Not too much fat. Love the Korean spicy and sweet sauce. They use it on everything! Spicy stir fried octopus with tofu — so good and with the red spicy sauce! Octopus was tender and cut into small pieces. Raw spicy crab — when we ordered this dish, the waitress wanted to make sure that we knew exactly what we were ordering. Just in case, she explained that it might taste fishy and some diners did not like it and would try to return the dish. She emphasized that there was a no return policy did this dish. We assured her that it’s okay, if we didn’t like it, then that was it. I’ve had raw crab in LA and it was amazing, BCD did not disappoint. There were 2 large halves of the crab, marinated in spicy sauce. Sorta like ceviche. The spicy sauce tasted great in everything. The crab meat was creamy. The only annoying part about this Rudy is that they do not have crab hammers. You have to break it apart yourself and try not to chip your tooth. Also, this is a hands on dish, no way to avoid that. All of the dishes comes with a bowl of rice, and rice congee. It was about $ 35/person and we left happy, full, and smelling like garlic and kimchi, essentially smelling like dinner.

Worst meal I’ve had in k town other than 5 senses. I’m a frequent k town diner, and I work in a Korean restaurant so I know a bit about Korean food. Probably the worst Korean food I’ve had in a while, I came here a wile ago and forgot what it was like, came back last night and i regret going. First red flag: Banchan, kimchi was not good, if you’re a Korean restaurant and don’t have good kimchi why even be a Korean restaurant? The only thing we liked was the fish cakes and the little fried fish they give in the beginning. Everyone thinks that good Korean restaurants give you a million things for banchan, but if all of those things aren’t good then whats the point. I’d rather have 3 good banchan dishes than a million bad ones. Second red flag: Gaeranjim, we ordered one and when it came out it was burnt. I have had this dish a million times it is one of my favorite things about Korean bbq, I have never been to a place that burns it. Miss Korea, Kunjip, Wonjo, never had this problem. The server graciously offered to have the kitchen make us another one. Came out STILLBURNT, and tasted and smelled like plastic, such a simple dish to make. spicy sam ghup sal: very basic, not even spicy, disappointment. my friend ordered some crab dish, it was like crab legs, I don’t even know how to explain it, it just wasn’t good. I came here once a long time ago and I remembered it being good, what happened? The only thing that made my review bump up to two stars is the service, in the midst of all this disappointment, the servers very accommodating, friendly and helpful.

I’ve been to their other locations, and I would have to say that they are pretty consistent. It’s a relatively new location so everything is new and the décor modern. We had the same side dishes as the other locations and the soonduboo came out piping hot. The food came out quick and was delicious, the service attentive, but the music was really loud for some reason. Also, if you come during peak hours, expect to wait a bit, which is annoying. Although I give this place 5 stars, every time I eat at this restaurant I feel incredibly sleepy. I’m very sensitive to MSG, and I’m pretty sure that’s what’s wanting me to run to my bed. Great place for some soondub, but be ready to wait a bit, pay a bit, and sleep a bit.

BCD Tofu House excels in terms of food and service. Though you are paying more than the average price for soondubu($ 13.99), you get a good amount of complimentary side dishes and a fried croaker. Also they refilled the side dishes without asking. The tofu is top notch, which is expected from one of the most known tofu soup chains in the city. They give decent portions and a good amount of your selected topping. Be careful with the spice level though as each level is more spicy than you think. I ordered the regular and the soup was orange-red and I could barely handle it. Our waitress saw my concern and was nice enough to give a small bowl of mild soondubu to mix it into my soup. This moment was when the service went up to another level. Additionally, the waitress helped us take a group photo without us even having to ask. The whole experience from beginning to end was flawless and this a great place to enjoy some Korean dishes without breaking the bank.

A friend and I came here at 7pm. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations so we had to wait around 15 minutes, which isn’t bad. The banchan served with the meal was pretty darn good. I really enjoyed the whole fried fish, the bean curd, the black beans(not sure what kind but they were flavored to perfection), broccoli and pickles. I wasn’t quite as impressed with my entrée though. I had the bibimbap came in a hot stone bowl, with beef, as well as tofu, carrots, spinach, mushroom and other vegetables, and an egg that I stirred in immediately. There were also sesame seeds sprinkled on top. But I felt like there wasn’t enough meat in my dish and that the vegetables were not well seasoned. It tasted kind of bland to me. I added some sauce to it, which made it better. Also, it was presented nicely and very colorful looking. The service was okay… Efficient, but not personable. A bit rushed. I don’t think I will be back. There are too many other restaurants that are better in K-Town.

Great lunch — ordered the steamed mandoo & seafood tofu soup. Seafood was fresh and soup was flavorful. Mandoo came w an interesting sauce. Great presentation. Of course this Came with wonderful array of small plates that I gobbled up. The kimchi sauce was sweeter to compliment the spicy. Everything was delic! It’s a nice setting that u can come w friends so enjoy the great food, nice ambience & all the flavors you’ll experience!

This place is huge. Most of the weekends that I came here we need to wait for 30mins to an hour long but weekdays is not that bad. Actually I like their food. I always get the grilled beef and serving is good for 2 to 3 people. The seafood tofu soup is pretty good too and the seafood pancake. My only complain is its a bit pricey. For 2 of us that came here & order 3 dishes without drinks we paid $ 62 with tip.

I love that BCD Tofu House(and a lot of restaurants in Korean Town for that matter) are open late. We stopped by to grab a bite for dinner before leaving the city from Penn Station. Love K town and its proximity from Penn =) BCD is huge! It’s a whole two-storey full of sitting areas(and people). I absolutely love their banchan, which included a whole fried croaker that is beautifully done. It’s freshly fried, golden brown and crispy on the outside, and flavorful and soft on the inside. The best thing is that the croaker came with the meal. Talking about the meal of course we had to rave about their tofu soup! I just love the tofu soup. It is light but filling at the same time, not too much meat yet it comes with all the protein you need. There are numerous options, beef, pork, seafood, vege, dumplings etc. I had the dumpling version that day, the seafood and beef options are good too. The set comes with rice and a fresh egg that you get to crack into the boiling soup. It was too much food for us. We didn’t touch the rice at all cos the banchan and tofu soup filled us up already. Yes there are different levels of spiciness to choose from but I find that their regular was already spicy. One thing I noticed was that their air conditioning was too strong. I’m not sure if it’s because we were seated on the second floor right by the vents or what. It felt really cold even in summer. My friend and I jokingly said that they had to do this so you would get warm after having the spicy tofu soup =) =)
