They have the wrong address on the Unilocal. The real address is 332 W 127St. Someone recommended me to go to this place and make an appointment with Rougui. I was skeptical at first because when I spoke to her on the phone she didn’t sound that friendly and I never got my hair done in Harlem. One of friends recently got her hair done the same style as mine in Queens and she wasn’t satisfied with the way they did the style. I few places in Queens I find that they are not able to do detail braiding. Just regular braiding. I texted her the hair style I wanted and she told me she was able to do it and she said just recently she did something like the hair style I wanted. I got lost getting there by car at first but I finally found it with the right address. I’m an early bird so I got there early when the shop just opened before she even got there. The place was decent but small and narrow with some clutter. Meeting her in person was much better than talking to her on the phone. She made me feel comfortable by smiling and being friendly. She was eager to please. Which is a plus in my book. I showed her the pic again to refresh her memory and she started doing my hair. Every once in a while she’d asked to see the pic. My braids weren’t tight like how I use to get my hair done in the past. Usually I would have to take a pill for a headache. It was nicely done. My braids didn’t look 100% exactly like the pic. I would say it looked 95% like the pic. She definitely took her time so she would get it right. The hair style had a lot of detail braiding. It took about 5 hours total which isn’t bad. It was even better that she didn’t take any breaks. I’m very happy with my braids and with a good price. She was nicely tipped. I was glad I got there early because when I was leaving I could hardly get out the place, it was so crowded. While I was leaving I got many compliments from all the hairstylists telling me how nice my hair looks. I recommend making an appointment with Rougui. She can be reached at 9172934425.

Yaya stopped me coming of the train. They always say follow you’re first mind but I didn’t. That was the WORST experience ever! YaYa and her sister did my hair. They were both rough and mean. Fifteen minutes into my hair getting braided they stopped and took a twenty minute break to eat. They suggested a color for my hair but didn’t have enough hair so then began to skimp on my right side. Now after only a week later my hair looks a mess and already coming out. The worst part is they didn’t even cut the stray ends that stick out. Please shop around and understand it wasn’t cheap either.

This is an authentic African hair braiding shop. The ladies work well and aim to please! I know they aim to please because, I got a hair style that I was not pleased with totally and the stylist redid my hair. Some of the prices are negotiable. If you are getting extensive work(individual/micro braids) the ladies will break to eat and pray in between because, for starters every human needs nourishment & the prayer is because they’re devote Muslims. Sometimes there is a language barrier but, usually there are always persons or another stylist whose English is stronger than the others and they assist you and the stylist to comprehend one another. FYI: the best braiders/stylists are not always the best speakers!
