Really cool old school lounge. Very dark, nice leather everywhere. A little stuffy but that is what this hotel is all about. I ordered two glasses of wine for my wife and I. $ 18.00 each, but it was a nice bottle of

Swank. Fancy. Upscale. Hootie-tootie(however you spell that). Elite All words that describe this fancy lounge/bar located inside the Plaza Athenee. I was meeting my father in-law for a drink here and could tell from walking in the hotel it was going to be nice. The bar has a Moroccan feel to it, with lots of fancy things on the wall that look like some rich upper east sider’s living room area. Apparently this place was featured on sex and the city, if that’s something you care about. Like other places on the UES(Bemelman’s), the drinks are expensive, the service is good and the drinks are marvelous. With your drink, you’ll be served some spicy cheese crackers, nuts, and truffle popcorn. Eat up, they’ll bring you more. You can also order from the menu here and enjoy a $ 20 cocktail while you eat some $ 20 crab cakes. It’s not cheap, but you are paying for the nice, romantic atmosphere in a very fancy hotel. What did you expect, a $ 3 rail cocktail? This isn’t the east village. I doubt I’ll become a frequent sipper of cocktails at Bar Seine, but it would definitely be a place to impress a client or a date before dinner elsewhere.

A small, dark, quiet bar situated in the lobby of Plaza Athenee, I was reminded of an old joint that might have made an appearance on Mad Men. The high ceilings, old wooden bar and Old West objects in frames on the walls put me in the most sophisticated mood. The drinks are strong and the waiters keep the snacks(almonds, nuts, popcorn, crackers, etc) flowing. An expensive place and terrible place to go if you were wanting something more up beat or younger, but well worth it if you wanted to grab a few drinks with some friends or a date before you head out for the rest of the night, or better yet, a great place for a night cap.

This is a swank hotel bar that’s more old money than trend chasing. There are several chairs and couches available. They have a full bar and the typical hotel bar inflated price. Mixed drinks were in the $ 15 – 17 range and beers were $ 9. They also had an extensive tea menu and the tea was very nicely presented. I’d recommend this place if you want something low-key and romantic or are entertaining parents.
