Horrible service but amazing view. The waitress was simply rude!!! Drinks are ok though a little pricey but the view is definitely worth it.

this rooftop bar is a hidden gem! this rooftop bar is absolutely stunning and romantic. Come during happy hour(I think from 5pm-7pm) and you get a better deal — with delicious cocktails at 7 dollars. They also have small bites — I had the sliders which were very flavorful and delicious. I also tried the truffle fries and the hanger steak bruschetta– those were okay. The prices are steep for the food– so I’d say skip the food and just come here for the drinks. Also if you order food you can not bring it up to the rooftop you have to eat it the lower level(but you surrounded by panoramic glass windows– so the view is still nice!) Best part was it wasn’t too crowded and the place is spacious. Overall I would love to come back here again.

Bar Hugo is a nice spot for a few drinks. Ride the elevator from the lobby up to the bar and then find the ‘exit’ looking door to climb a few more flights(rad neon stairwell) to the upstairs bar area. Here you’ll find some of the best views in NYC — completely outdoors so be prepared! There are plenty of places to sit — couches, chairs etc. There are waitresses if you sit and they’re super friendly. Drinks are naturally on the more expensive side($ 16 for a mixed cocktail /sangria) but are well done. You can even order food –try the tacos… chicken is good but a little on the mushy side. If you head back downstairs to the main bar area, which is more indoors be ready for some crowded space(on a weekend night anyway.) Try to head around behind the elevators by the DJ who is really awesome! There’s room to move around, you don’t need a reservation to sit at a table and can even get some air on the small balcony. Perfect spot to start your evening.

We arrived in the early evening to watch two people with measuring tapes wander the floor. The staff seemed completely unprepared for our reserved group’s arrival. The cocktails cost $ 16 apiece, and the two different ones I had were very dry and otherwise not noteworthy. One of the bouncers repeatedly harassed members of our group – the only people in the entire bar – that we were taking up too much space; we ended up being squished in the middle of the floor plants. On the plus side, the view is nice.

Awesome view, good music, proper crowd, good people. Only if the glass is better, yeah I’m obssessed with wine glasses, can you not use plastics if I’m paying $$$ for my wine?

I took in my first views of the NYC skyline from above while in the city from Bar Hugo. While on the rooftop, on one side of the bar there is a good view overlooking the Hudson River into New Jersey while the indoor side provides a view towards SOHO. The crowd was about average and my visit was during after work hours on a week night. There are a good number of seats both inside and on the patio. Once seated, we were quickly approached by a nice and friendly waiter. Overall, it was a pleasant surprise to come to a relaxing spot with a nice atmosphere, city views, and service without the hassles of long waits and cramped spaces.

Amazing views deco and Cuban music. Unfortunately the cocktails are poorly made and presented… $ 16 for a mojito with one mint leaf Lime wedges that must be days old… Such a shame.

Feedback– Horrible customer experience and I’m still paying for it. My impression of this place was dope– location(walkable from work), interior design & layout(amazing) ANDTHENCAMETHESERVICE! DODO! All in all came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday, we had table service but it took forever to get drinks. We even attempted to get drinks ourselves from the bar still no avail, so we just sat down & waited the 20 – 25 mins and we were only a party of 5. Then when it was time to pay the bill our waitress never came back to us so I had to run around the bar to pay my tab. She had no idea how to work the cash register so she called over this guy(she did apologize and said she was new– no worries there) BUTHETOOKANOTHER20MINS. My bill was only $ 39.20 so I asked him to put everything on my card since he was having trouble splitting it(I gave him a $ 20 bill). He reassured me it would only take a min. Come to find out he charged my card 3 times!!! Despite the experience I still gave a tip but I’m mortified. Then we went upstairs and the service was even worse! The busboy was making drinks while the bartender was throwing back shots. He asked me to pay cash since it would take forever to swipe my card. I was so fed up. And again I was overcharged by $ 3.00. Now I have to dispute all these charges with you guys. I don’t understand how you could be such an upscale place with such horrible service and super short-staffed. I understand you guys were busy but these overcharges really impacted my experience negatively, the fact that I’m still feeling the repercussions. While there alot of other patrons were complaining about service and your WINEPRICES. $ 16 for a glass of wine, sike. Sorry bar hugo. Never again. Shame on you!

Pretty, casual space on an early Sat. evening. The view of downtown is great. Seating was limited though, as it was pretty busy. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but the bar reminded me of a beach bar. It was pretty warm here, so we didn’t stay long.

The ambiance of this place was great. Beautiful views of the city and all the landmarks(Empire State Building, Freedom Tower, and Statue of Liberty) are really breathtaking. However, the drinks are ridiculously overpriced, served in dirty plastic glasses, and tries to be a really high class bar, but sadly missed the mark. I’d go again for a work happy hour; but I wouldn’t go by my own choice again.

Very cool rooftop. Two levels, one on the top floor that’s real snazzy and stairs lead up to the roof which has a great view of downtown. It wasn’t very busy despite being a Saturday night but my guess as people hear about it, it will get popular. Drinks are standard NYC prices for this kind of joint

I’ve had the worst experience with the Bar Hugo events team over the past 3 days. I contacted them to arrange a reservation for a group of 20 — 25 for my birthday and it ended up being an unnecessarily stressful ordeal — so much so that I cancelled the event and would rather skip celebrating my birthday then give this place a dollar of my money. I’ve set up several parties of this size and there was no reason for this to be so difficult and unsatisfying. The ‘manager’ Sara didn’t answer my calls — even when she asked me to call at a specific time — and I was misled in what they would be able to provide. I wasted 3 days with this team and now I don’t have the time to arrange another location. Very unprofessional. Bad business. I could not un-recommend this place anymore.

This spot is quite luxurious. Decked out with tasteful banquets and plush seating for your party,(be it a party of two or ten) to carve out a comfortable nook for the evening. The waitstaff are not overly gracious but rather cordially professional as they tend to check after you occasionally to make sure you have what you need. The prices are average for Manhattan. Cocktails cost $ 16 per so not ridiculous but not cheap either by any stretch. Honestly what you might expect from a place adorned such as this. I had the queens knees which I enjoyed. It’s a very light cocktail with a nice hint of mint and not overly sweet. If your looking to get buzzed that’s not your drink. Vodka was added to it but it must have been in a small amounts because I didn’t taste it or even notice it. It was an exceptionally light summer drink. Ultimately what sells this place is the views and they are stupendous. If your looking for a sexy place to take someone to view the cityscape this spot can’t be beat. It has plenty of indoor and outdoor space so even if you don’t want to stand outside you don’t feel like your missing out on the sweeping views as they have floor to ceiling windows.

Went to this sad little venue for a Super Bowl event which was absolutely low rent. Kegs on tap… buffet food… aging frat boys and their skanks. This is one dump that you might want to avoid.
