Bair’s Locksmith 24 Hr

First off, I really hate leaving bad reviews for small business owners. However, my last experience here left me compelled to write this review. I’ve been to this locksmith several times despite its relatively high prices compared to other shops because it’s on my way home. I figured I am paying extra for the convenience. I wanted to duplicate a key and handed the entire set to the guy at the counter. It was made in seconds. In minutes I was home and when I tried the key out, I realized he had made a copy of the wrong key! I went back right away and explained that it was the wrong key. He was in no way apologetic and said «I only make the you gave me». I know my own keys, how could I have pointed out the wrong key? I didn’t want to stand there and argue for $ 2.50 when the guy was so defensive. At the end, I just had the right key made, and he charged me the full price again. I would never return to this place or recommend anyone here simply because the customer service is terrible. I would gladly have paid for the cost of the key, had he not have been so defensive/​rude. I almost felt like he should’ve charged me partially, just because I was willing to pay for another duplication. As a small business, customer service is key to succession, particularly in a neighborhood with competing businesses! This time it cost me a mere few bucks but what if I needed a more major service? Surely, next time I will walk a few extra blocks and go to Home Depot or another locksmith.
