This place is horrendous. Every, single, time, I order something from the grill, it’s either wrong, or just bad. The dude on there always asks for your order while doing someone else’s and then has to ask you again a minute or two later… every time… like bro, learn, stop asking me numerous times and ask when you’re ready to listen. Also, they screw up almost every time. I’m eating an omelette drenched in cheese when it wasn’t supposed to have any. My colleague got the wrong sandwich. And they have something against normal or crispy bacon and hash browns and give you piles of mush. Not many good breakfast options in the ‘hood, but too many average delis to go to a place that can make easy fixes and decides not to. If the owner reads this, please retrain your team and/or get more hands on deck.

The good thing about the Bits and Bites, as it’s colloquially referred, is their large menu of many different lunch items and indoor seating if you take your order to stay. But! I won’t be ordering anything anymore. Instead of washing the bowls and tongs between making salads, they merely dip and wave the bowl and tongs in a filled sink of standing water. I confronted a worker about this. He was so rude and rinsed the bowl with running water. Rinsed, not washed. Then, he shoved the bowl in my face and goes, «See?! Clean!» Wow… So I’m not gonna tell you what happened next. I hope his manager overheard the confrontation and fired him but I have no idea. Also, we had to stop ordering delivery to the office from here because they ALWAYS forgot something or messed up the order. We’d order every day and every day something would be wrong or missing. Conveniently, they never gave us anything extra or better. They’ll charge for avocado and omit it, they’ve forgotten utensils and salad dressing, they’ve even sent a Cuban sandwich to a colleague with religious dietary requirements. And so, for these reasons, we do not order from here any longer.

Anyone who works in this neighborhood knows that Bits and Bites is a necessary evil. I’ve been going here for breakfast and lunch for the past 4 years. Sure, the cashiers are rude and the prices are inconsistent, but I overlooked that for a long time and let the convenient location trump my overall experience. A few weeks ago, though, I reached my breaking point. I went to the chopped salad station for lunch, and the guy refused to make my salad the way I requested. It wasn’t like I had a high maintenance request– I simply asked for croutons and nuts to be chopped in, not added after. This is how I’ve ordered salads here for 4 years. This guy(who is somewhat new) refused to do this, and when I told him I ordered it like this all the time, he practically yelled at me, «Well, things have changed! You can go somewhere else if you don’t like it!!» Excuse me? None of the staff here appear to be happy or enjoying their jobs, but this guy was over the top. His one job is to make salads, and he’s clearly not cut out for this task. I was actually embarrassed when he yelled at me, and haven’t been back since. There’s no reason to put up with terrible customer service, especially when new lunch places(i.e. Lenny’s, Just Salad, etc.) are popping up left and right in this neighborhood. Sorry, Bits and Bites, but this is the end for us.

Decently priced. 4 stars today because my egg was undercooked. Other than that a great place for food.

Service has really fallen off – it’s must consistently rude now. I’m really sick of having to ask for a pickle with my sandwich. Also the food has become extremely inconsistent: sometimes you get huge sandwiches and sometimes they’re tiny(more often tiny). I’m done with this place. I found a better deli down the street.

Has anyone ever ordered anything from the grill and watched the cook make it? Fucking disgusting. First of all, this dude’s apron and uniform had shit crusted on it from god knows when. In the middle of making my grilled cheese, he unwraps two wet burger patties. Doesn’t change his gloves, and proceeds to handle my sandwich with the same gloves. Just seemed like the most miserable human being — throwing things in the trash and missing and not giving a fuck, slapdash with everything. The cashiers are rude as fuck too — sticking their hand out for me to pay them when they didn’t tell me the amount and then giving an attitude. Too many better Tribeca establishments to frequent. Leave this to people who enjoy getting treated like garbage and later getting food poisoning. Lenny’s is across the street, people, and frankly, I should not have strayed.

The food is fine for what it is and it fills a need but I just purchased what I have to consider the most overpriced food I’ve ever bought in my life. I got an egg sandwich that somehow came to $ 11.81. I did not ask for gold leaf or for a dance performance as part of my meal. Yes, I did ask for egg whites rather than eggs, turkey bacon instead of regular bacon, and a bagel instead of a roll. But last I checked I still should not be paying double digits for a breakfast sandwich. I asked two people there if the price was correct — they made some reference to «design» and somehow that justified the price — and then simply told them I’m never coming back, because I’m not. There are other delis in the City of New York and I’ve never been to one in any of the five boroughs that charged more than about six bucks from some eggs on bread.

Customer Service SUCKS!!!(we know that is ALL I want) Love the Salads(when you don’t wait forever) The organization doesn’t make sense no matter where you stand. Its overall a disaster coming here. I’m sure there are a few people who’ve came here and got amazing service, but NOT me! Its been SEVERAL times(over 5 times)… I’ve tried my hardest to not complain but I’m going to explain all the key reasons why I’m finally going to write a complaint. Changes the prices all the time… I ordered a bagel and it said 1.95(cream cheese on the bagle). If I get it on the side its 2.50 and sometimes its almost 3.00. I finally asked why the price keeps changing and why does it keep going up. She clearly didn’t have a reason why. customer service… The man who does the bagels is rude, he doesn’t smile, and gets annoyed when you ask questions to ensure my ordering is done correctly. their credit card machine may or may not work… My credit card was three years old(which is normal) but, I understood why it wasn’t swiping, but then I got a new one three weeks ago. Today I thought I would go back, then the lady was swiping my card several/many times and then said«do you have another card» and said YOUR card isn’t working… In my head I said this is really annoying because this card is new, which isn’t MY card working.(Clearly its the machine). So therefore It wasn’t my fault and who knows if my card was ever an issue(probably was always the machine). Isn’t that what lines are for… Today I went in and stood in line, having a conversation with the ONLY person in line but me. I had my salad in my hand and then walked over to the salad area to make sure I was ready for him. He then took four people’s orders after looking at me then after the four person said hold on, please. I mean are you serious… I was already late and now you made me more late for work. At that given point in addition to the credit card not working I just walked out without my food. Its really said I didn’t get to say something earlier, but this is insane and I don’t understand how places like this can even function. Also, NO one has eggs in water on a warming rack all morning long and serves it to people. Then they heat it up in a microwave to melt the cheese and make it hot. That is weird and I’m sorry I don’t use microwaves for this. I will give them a few points: the salad bar is an amazing idea. The prices are some what ok, the regular cashier is amazing, sweet, polite, helpful. that’s It folk… Just avoid having a bad morning like I did. Just kills me how they really effected my whole day, sometimes my evening, and sometimes I have NO clue if my card will or wont work. There has been times I would pay, first to ensure no issues.

The grill guy is really rude, in my opinion; god forbid you change your mind. This place is great for catering, not that you’ll get what you ordered but the presentation is excellent and the group would find something they like. I think it’s pricey.

This place has lost a customer who has been coming here for 10 years and spending $ 7 on breakfast once or twice a week and a few times a week for lunch because of their poor customer service. I ordered their Popeye Omelette special but asked that I get egg white only due to personal health concerns and he said he couldn’t do it. I thought he(bobby) was joking. I even asked if he was joking. He said he wasn’t and that he couldn’t give me egg white only. I was floored. They use real eggs to make their omelette. It would have taken him 3 extra seconds to throw the yolk out. But he refused. He tried to make it seem like management would not allow him to change the special. I wasn’t asking for any additions. I was asking for the yolk to be removed. And it wasn’t like he was busy either. I was the only one there! Nothing was cooking on the grill. I’ve been coming here for a while and have never complained about them charging me different prices for the same items that I order week in and week out. Sometimes there’s tax. Sometimes no tax. I’ve never complained when I got eggshells in my omelette time and again. Most of the cashiers there are nasty and rude and bobby the grill guy also acts like he’s doing you a favor when he takes your order. Wake up! I’m paying for this food. This isn’t a free handout so don’t act like it. There’s plenty of places to eat at around here and you’ve just lost a long time customer due to the poor service. I went right around the corner to Downtown Deli and got my egg whites sandwich for half the price of this place. Read the other Unilocal reviews with 1 or 2 stars. I am not the only one who has complained about the poor service at this place. The owner should wake up and take heed. Companies spend tons of money advertising, handing out flyers/menus. What they should also focus on is keeping customers that they already have. I will never be back!

Great prices for create your own salad, as well as for soup. I like that a lot is included in the salad price, and I like that the starting price includes a bunch of toppings. Definitely will come back for soup or salad for lunch. I like that they have a lot of soup options each day. Haven’t tried any of the deli items, etc. here, but coworkers had turned me on to the create your own salads and I can see why!

I’ve been ordering my breakfast from this place for years, since I began working in the area. While I initially found the food to be much better than some of it’s competitors, I’ve also found that in recent years quality has changed a bit. What I do appreciate, however, is that service remains constant. The woman who takes my phone orders and cashes me out is great. She’s never gotten anything wrong, seems to keep aware of what’s available and what isn’t, always double checks things for me(just in case) and never hesitates to follow up with a phone call if there are any issues — something I ordered has run out, etc. — which I thoroughly appreciate. And, delivery is always prompt. As to food, despite the change, it’s still pretty decent. Their breakfast wraps are made well. I also love their breakfast platters(the home fries are the best in the area), though their bacon can sometimes be a bit hard to chew as it is usually pre-made in the mornings and only rewarmed when ordered. Their muffins and bagels are delicious(they serve authentic bagels) and come toasted well, when ordered. The only miss for me would be their oatmeal. I’ve given it a chance on multiple occasions just to be sure. Quite frankly, it’s too overdone and there’s no amount of milk, cinnamon, sugar, or fruit that has ever been able to save it for me. Instead, when I’m in the mood for it, I keep my own handy to make at work. Otherwise, I have no problems continuing to order from B, B & B.

All of the stars go to the grill man. He’s super nice, efficient, and no-nonsense. Cleaner than your average deli, this place has a HUUUGEE menu for breakfast and lunch. The pastries are pretty decent and the coffee never ever disappoints. But the ladies behind the register are the most ridiculously spacey humans I have ever met in my life. They don’t look at you when they ring you up and sometimes you have to remind them of what you had after they literally TOLDYOU3 seconds beforehand. But customer service is lost on my city, unfortunately. I guess the food is what matters right? Verdict: this place beats Dunkin Donuts and OVERPRICED Lenny’s across the street.

Perfect no-frills sandwich shoppe/deli serving up Boars Head cold cuts on fresh and tasty baguettes. The prices are beyond affordable for the portion sizes… at $ 7.95 you can get an American hero big enough to satisfy for two meals(or if you’re large like myself a meal and a snack). Service is quick and attentive – one of the better places in the area to grab a sandwich if you aren’t looking to wait on a ridiculous line.(I’m looking at you, Sandwich House.)

This place is «OKAY» for lunch… you know what matter of fact it’s just not good! I try to avoid this place but my co workers forced me into eating this today. I would suggest ordering from the lunch menu if you are going to get food from here this way your lunch will be under $ 10 otherwise its not worth getting anything, If I’m spending over $ 10 for lunch I want something better than this. I got the steak sandwich which is okay certainly nothing to write home about. They appear to have descent salads but they’re not good and the dressing is awful! They also have soups and a large variety of other things but again nothing good. Ive tried a few different things and have recently written this place off. I just reminded myself today why I did with this sandwich.

I try to avoid this place, but thought I would give it another shot this morning. I ordered two coffees with milk, no sugar. I said it twice to the lady behind the counter, then a third time when she asked. I received two coffees, one with sugar. I kindly alerted the women behind the counter to the problem, and she got serious attitude with me. She did not fix the problem. This is unacceptable and unfortunately common with the service industry in our city. I will continue to take my business to the new Lenny’s on the same block where I am better treated by staff.

This place was fine for a sandwich. the servers were very attentive as to what you wanted and quick. The corned beef was good, a cut above the usual deli in wall street area. Place was clean and they had a decent array of drinks and other snacks.

Didn’t know where or what to eat for lunch during work so decided to pop in and get a quick sandwich. Ordered the prosciutto with fresh mozzerella, and sun dried tomatos with balsamic vinigar. it was fresh and quick. i won’t say this is the best lunch place but it will suffice.

Over-priced – yes. Creepy employees – oh yeah. Will they mess up your order — you bet your ass they will. I succumb to buying from this place when I have to run errands at lunch and absolutely do not have time to get lunch from anywhere else. If anything, I have learned that I need to start bringing my lunch from now on. DUH!
