I usually love this place. This past visit, was not a great experience. The servers didn’t even know what was on there own menu. Took my order… brought out the food and never told me that half of what i ordered isnt even an option. Forgot parts of my sides… and the price was higher then i expected… left a decent tip but honestly they didnt deserve it

Great fresh cooked food. Cooks whipping up a food storm in tiny kitchen. Food delivered fast and tasty. Tiny space but pumping. Big menu big servings.

Myself and a friend were visiting New York for a few days and Astro was recommended to us by a worker at our hotel. We walked a few short blocks and walked into the quaint restaurant. I ordered the French toast, eggs and beef sausage. It was just ok. the French toast was soggy, it could’ve cooked a little longer, the eggs were bland and the beef sausage was greasy. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive but I will not be going back.

Astro is one of those places that is just great! Casual friendly service. Big menu with lots of choices and the food comes out quickly. I have eaten here on and off for ten years — and it just feels so familiar. It’s great to hear the servers chatter in Greek to each other and to see the very talented short order chef listen to orders verbally and then cook with lightning speed! Food is very good and cooked just as you asked for it.

We found this diner on our way to Central Park. The servers were very friendly and the food was delivered quickly. It’s a decent spot for breakfast, though everything could use a little seasoning. I ordered the eggs and corn beef hash. Everything was bland. For three people, it was a 50+ dollar breakfast, and that includes one person having only a waffle and the other having some cheap yogurt concoction. It was a decent experience, but not worth more than three stars.

Busy and packed but we were seated quickly and attended to. It’s like a control chaos, I like the energy! Extensive café type menu with a Greek flare. Serve was prompt and food was descent.

Food was good… Probably 4 star or more. I had the Canadian bacon bison burger. It’s $ 3 more to get lettuce and tomato with it and fries… But it’s only 8.95 so it’s not a big deal on cost. Biggest issue is the intimate atmosphere and craziness going on. You can zone it out but it’s a bit much for me being a wee bit of a closterphobic … Service was good when they came. Never really checked on us. Except to clean up the plates — and that is when we got our water refilled haha Still waiting on check

The banana stuffed french toast hit the spot! The food came out quickly and after that the service slowed down. Over a nice little spot. We were seated right away. It seemed clean.

Ah, don’t be fooled by the location of the many people piled into this diner. It took about 10 minutes for my coworker & I to be seated. That’s not bad. Typical diner menu — sandwiches, salads, entrees, wraps, etc. however, since this is a prime area, the prices were ridiculous! Keep in mind this is still a diner. With diner food. I ordered the Reuben wrap. It came with fries, coleslaw & a pickles(not bad). The wrap was disappointing. The wrap itself was complete mush — wet & mushy. There was a ton of hot sauerkraut & some pastrami & cheese inside. I had to use a fork & knife because the pastrami was so tough! I didn’t taste any thousand island dressing at all. Service was ok, I guess. This place is average if not below average & the prices were shocking to me since it’s still just a diner.

I have long been coming to Astro Diner, providing them continual repeat business. Unfortunately, as I waited for a table for two, I was repeatedly pushed aside while parties of four were seated(mosty tourist who will never be back!). This is NOT how you treat repeat customers! After a few times, I asked why we were getting bypassed and was told I would have to wait for a table that fit only two. For those who appreciate customer service(especially locals)…find somewhere else! I will tell all my LOCAL friends and colleagues in the area to no longer patron Astro diner. I will direct them the Red Flame just down the street on 44th. Yours truly… long time, but lost customer.

Found this diner walking down the Avenue of the Americas. Great little spot. Good food, quick service and priced reasonably. I was there for breakfast, had grits which was unexpected. Grits in NYC? Who would have thought? Looking forward to going again next time here in the City

Our hotel front desk recommended this diner. When we got there, there was a wait for a table, but we snagged the last 3 seats at the counter. The service was just average, but the food was awesome as were the portions for the price. I got the corned beef hash with eggs over medium with rye toast. Everything was cooked properly and very flavorful.

Coffee was good. I had the Carmel Latte Macchiato. There service was poor though and there was only a one stall bathroom.

This diner was recommended by our hotel and they done good! It had a wait the whole time we were there but we took stools at the bar and bypassed the wait. No kids menu, but the daughter was captivated by the blueberry muffins they had in baskets on the counter, so she ordered that and sausage. The muffin was incredible. Moist and flavorful, with a pocket of blueberry in the middle. The sausage links were the huge true sausage links, not your regular small breakfast ones. They were great — mild and just the right amount of fat. I had bacon, eggs, potatoes and rye bread. The bacon was perfectly done — not overdone at all. Huge chunks of potatoes, perfectly seasoned. Wish this diner was in my neighborhood

Nice waitresses. Great place to duck into during a rainstorm. Lunch gyro was really good. Liked it better than the breakfast.

The restaurant looks like your regular outdated diner. Small and narrow with varying sizes of booths and waiters who don’t care about your existence. The cheeseburger was good — like Shake Shack’s burger but bigger. But it gave me food poisoning so I’m never coming back here.

First time visit here. My family and we’re in town doing the windows thing. Stopped in here to grab a bite for dinner. The good was that they seated our party of four as soon as we waked in. They delivered our order in adequate time but forgot to place one of the entrees so we waited another 15 minutes for that to arrive and everyone else’s food was now cold. We could of eaten ours but out of courtesy, we waited. The broccoli cheese soup was very salty, the white bean soup tasted like manhatten clam chowder and the half pound burger tasted more like meat loaf on a bun. The salmon entrée was just a piece of salmon and french fries. For $ 21.00 that should of at least included a choice of potatoe and vegetable. The waiter never came back to offer drink or water refills Skip this place and walk down to 7th ave, many, many choices to eat there. T

It’s expensive for what you get. But I guess I can understand given the location. I spent almost $ 20 for a regular breakfast combo that had hash browns, eggs, and a few pieces of meat, and coffee. The place also felt hot and layout was compact. The saving grace might be the Greek yogurt, and the wide range of options you can choose from. But other than that, I think it’s an overpriced diner that doesn’t excel in any way.
