I’ve done business with dozens of cleaners in the city and Aphrodite French Cleaners on York Avenue is by far the worst cleaners I’ve experienced. When it comes to quality work and customer service, Aphrodite is 0 stars. After giving 3 dress shirts(of different companies and different materials) to Aphrodite to wash and iron, I was shocked to find out upon wearing them that each had expanded to be at least a couple of sizes larger than the shirts I originally gave them – the shirt itself was about 4 inches bigger around my body and the sleeves were at least 1.5 inches longer. Needless to say, I was upset and went back to Aphrodite where I politely inquired about what may have happened and how the issue could be resolved – perhaps by rewashing the shirts or whatever else they could come up with. Though the lady who I initially spoke with was courteous and willing to help, eventually a middle-aged gentleman with medium-length grey hair approached me and simply began berating me for insinuating that he had damaged my clothes. Despite putting on one of the shirts and showing me the problem, he rudely insisted that nothing was wrong. Moreover, he kept shoving in my face the fact that apparently people around the country send him their most expensive clothes to clean. Little did he realize that I did not care at all and merely wanted to work with him to resolve the issue. I have a high tolerance for bad customer service, but after a few minutes of him just being ardently against helping me, I decided I had enough and simply left the shop. There are presumably hundreds of other dry cleaners in New York City. Trust me – use any dry cleaners by Aphrodite French Cleaners on York Avenue. Doing otherwise will merely leave you with ruined clothes and a bad taste in your mouth.

They do a remarkable job with gowns and other products and come highly recommended by many of the tailors on the UES. They have very friendly service and the rates are great. No hidden fees or last-minute surprises.

Talk about business. You walk into this place and feel like a sea of clothes is slowly closing in on you. Miraculously, the friendly manager always knows where your pants are amid the chaos. The dry cleaning is consistently good, and prices are competitive for the area. Just remember, it’s cash-only on pick up. For those working at the hospital, it’s a no brainer.
