Antonio Prieto Salon

After trying several salons in NYC, I began going to Antonio Prieto several years ago and absolutely love it. The staff is professional, experienced, and the salon is upscale yet accessible.
Most recently I saw Krystal for color and Dan for a cut. Krystal did a PHENOMENAL job on my balayage highlights. She expertly lightened my hair, while keeping it natural and balanced. She is so experienced with color and very welcoming/​fun on top of it, so I will definitely be seeing her again soon! Dan has been cutting my hair for a couple years and always does a great job — as someone with long hair I especially love his ability to add layers and movement. He is extremely kind, attentive, and I always enjoy seeing him!

Krystal is such a sweetheart and does a fabulous job on my blonde balayage. I get compliments on my hair everywhere I go. She always addresses my hair concerns and recommends products that I can’t live without. She is #1 and I will never go to anyone else!

I went in as a volunteering hair model for a stylist not working there yet. Turned out the other models lined up that day canceled and she just assumed I did too.
I took time out of work to do this for a stylist needing to do a demonstration, so her not being there was incredibly unprofessional but had nothing to do with the salon.
They did however fix it by giving me a haircut anyway and had one of their own stylists (Scott, About to be promoted to senior stylist) do it. That is a few stars worth for customer service! (Though technically I wasn’t a client). The actual haircut turned out AMAZING! We’re talking Victoria Secret model amazing. I am a client now! Go see Scott!

For so long I would go to a hair stylist and have a vision of what I wanted in my mind, only to walk out not happy. Well, then I met Krystal, she is amazing! Krystal listens to what I want, we talk about how i style my hair and what I want it to look like, and every time she gets it just perfect. The color is always AMAZING, and I get constant compliments.
I also have curly hair, and I would never wear it curly because it just didn’t look good, but she cut my hair so it falls so much better and now I wear it curly all the time!
I would recommend Krystal to anyone :)

I came to Antonio Prieto Salon with a Gilt voucher for partial highlights. I had never colored my hair before and was a little nervous. Mia made me feel relaxed and at ease! She understood what I wanted and was able to match my new highlights to my natural highlights EXACTLY! I’m incredibly happy with my experience and the results. I’d love to come back!

I don’t think I have particularly pretty hair, but I barely recognize myself in Michael Buttigieg’s chair when he’s done with me and spins me around to look in the mirror because my hair looks so healthy and gorgeous. Michael is a true master of his craft: he is beyond capable of manipulating hair so that it looks exactly the way you actually want it to look (not the way that it just wants to fall or lay on its own); he’s intelligent enough to figure out what is causing a particular challenge (a product, a styling tool, something in the diet, even a pesky cowlick!); he listens carefully and follows directions — styling for the client, not for himself.
Most of all, Michael actually cares: he is more concerned with the health of my hair than I am, he’s more frustrated by a strand out of place than I would be, and he’s more excited about how much my hair grows in-​between appointments than I am because it demonstrates health. I have followed Michael to 3 salons, and I think we’ve both found a home together at Antonio Prieto.
Michael is as skilled as they get, and as kind and warm as they come. I wish I could add another star.

I had my hair and makeup done by Lorelle today, and she is so incredible! I look the best I have ever looked, plus she is always super nice! I have been going to The Antonio Prieto Salon for about 9 years, and I have never had a bad experience. I wouldn’t trust any other salon with my hair. I have been complimented on how great my hair is for the last 9 years, and I don’t plan on changing a thing. It has been looking particularly extraordinary since I began to see Lorelle a couple years ago. I love her!

I used to like this salon a lot but my feelings about this salon has unfortunately since changed. Certain people (ahem stylist) here are just incredibly unpleasant and rather bad natured which is unfortunate because the great experiences I have had have been soured in my mind by the unfortunate experience with the unpleasant one. I will have to look else where.

I booked Antonio Prieto Salon to to my hair and makeup for my wedding at the Trump Soho.
Brian did my hair and did a fantastic job. I met him about 3 months before the wedding for my hair trial and he was very easy to work with. He listened to what I wanted and replicated the photo I gave him. He reproduced the exact hair on the day of the wedding. He also did a great job with my mother’s hair and my mother in-​laws. Lorelle also worked wonders on my bridesmaids hair.
Jessica did my make-​up and listened exactly to what I wanted. I did not feel like I had too much makeup on which was my greatest concern when I hired a makeup artist.
Rachel helped me book everything from the beginning and made it so easy. It was a delight working with the salon for my wedding day!

Had my haircut at Marinela’s new hair salon since she moved from Ted Gibson Salon and as usual loved the cut and service. I also enjoyed the salon ambience. I’m glad I followed Marinela at Antonio Prieto Salon.

Recently got my second haircut with Jen. Was an even better experience than the first! She is so talented. She patiently listens to what you want and provides really good guidance on what will work best for your needs.
The salon itself provides a really lovely, luxurious experience and I am excited to keep going back!

The salon is very nice and well managed. The front desk staff was so friendly!
However, SCOTT was a complete disaster doing my blowout.
He lacked confidence and kept assuring me throughout the blowout that it would look good by the time he was done.
It ended up completely flat, despite the fact that I asked for volume and curls at the end.
I’ve been to other salons (B-​Dry, Salon Ziba) where my blowout stays luscious for a few days. Not so much with Scott’s work.
Also, he used a bunch of gunky products without asking me beforehand.
Thumbs down.

I went in with a Gilt voucher for a haircut and was extremely happy with my cut by Brenna. I was given a robe to start, and an iced capuccino (amaze). The space is very calming. Brenna discussed my options at length and I agreed with the plan. Then, I moved to the washing station, where Simone washed my hair. The one thing I would change is the chairs at the wash station– they’re not ideal for reclining, at least for someone my height (5’5″). Brenna gave me a fabulous cut and blowout and I left feeling so great that I already bought my next haircut with her at the discounted rate (30% off). I can’t wait to go back!

KENJI!!! KENJI!!! KENJI!!! that could be my whole
was my second hair cut with him this September, he is amazing, in June Lorellle cut my husband’s hair and she did an awesome job. Scott was suppose to cut his hair but he was so rude to the receptionist and told her he didn’t want to do it and was annoyed. Amanda smiled and apologized. I was two feet away and he didn’t know he was complaining about my husband, he never met him so it wasnt personal. RUDE none the less. Amanda turned a bad situation into a good one and she is a wonderful salon coordinator. She kept me there and couldn’t have been more kind and empathetic. Now the reason I was there…
KENJI, the best haircuts of my life have been with him. Twice in NYC and once in Tokyo. I will see him in Tokyo next month and in NYC in December. He cuts four times a year in NYC usually for two weeks each time, my only sadness is I wish it were five or six. He has transformed my hair and I have NEVER EVER gotten so many compliments. Others there are good too. I watch the work leaving there. If you can see KENJI you better, you just can’t have my appointment. Salon is clean, fresh and other than Scott they are all friendly. We all have bad days I know but I was there again and he personally should have said sorry. I will say the owner addressed it and offered a hair conditioner treatment with this past cut with KENJI. Jaclyn applied the treatment and did my wash too. She was another amazing staff person. I’ve had hair done literally all over the world. For a cut this place simply ROCKS! Wish mens cuts with Lorelle were more affordable. My husband liked the cut but it was expensive. He will try a lower tier stylist in December to see what they have. I’ll update you.

I went for color with Mia and a few days later had a haircut with Jennifer. The color is a gorgeous brown auburn with a beautiful glossy shine that feels so soft! And my haircut is perfect! It is what my sister would call «a precision cut!» And for once, my hair did not go into the «shock» that needed a week to recover and «grow in.» It looked great right away!
Everybody at Prieto is very nice, personable, and accommodating… and it is a very professional and clean salon.
There are so many other salons in the neighborhood around West 19^th Street, West 20^th Street, and West 21^st Street. Antonio Prieto is the right choice!

My daughter suggested that I take advantage of the website, Gilt City hair salon vouchers in order to experience a quality haircut. I finally saw the reasoning behind her suggestion and chose Antonio Prieto Salon due to the fact that I knew I would be in that area but mostly because of the consistently great reviews that I read on Unilocal.They were definitely right! It was a beautiful place and I was welcomed by the Front Desk Receptionist with a smile and assurance that I was in good hands. After a bit of a wait, I looked at magazines, and I was asked more than once whether I needed something to drink, Soon I was led to a dressing room to change into a robe so that I wouldn’t leave the salon covered in my own itchy hair. What a novel idea! I was then introduced to Lorelle, a Senior Stylist, by Assistant Jaclyn, and we had a conversation and a mutual understanding about my cut. Then off I went to have my hair washed by Jaclyn in a very moisturizing shampoo all the while having good conversation. Lorelle listened to what I had to say, made suggestions and seemed genuinely excited about doing my hair. I came in with a not-​so-​hot mess, although according to Lorelle it was wonderful hair and left with a great cut that’s modern, easy to care for and looks really healthy Before leaving, she suggested a color promo but it wasn’t a hard sell, so, she’s a great employee besides being a wonderful hair stylist. Thank you Lorelle, Jaclyn and everyone else at Antonio Prieto Salon! I am very happy with my hair and wish I could do more to show it but thought one thing I could do is leave a great review so others will know where to go for fantastic salon services.

My sister took me to this salon as a treat shortly after I moved to NYC in early 2013 and I have been coming here ever since. In fact, I refuse to go anywhere else now. I have had my hair cut by Jenn, Brenna and Nancy and my color done by Nancy as well. Absolutely EVERY time I walk out of this place I am extremely happy. The last time I was there for a color appointment Simone did my blowout and she was also fantastic.
I always get compliments on my haircuts and color and whenever someone asks «Have you tried (insert salon name here)?» I always tell them «No, and I probably never will.» Why bother? When you find a place that consistently and flawlessly makes your hair this beautiful there is no reason to go anywhere else. Why risk the disappointment?

It was my first time visiting the salon as I recently moved back to NYC. My friend recommended the salon — and Brenna — and I was even more enticed to try it with a Gilt City offer.
Firstly, the salon was great! It was hopping — something I love and think is a signal that people want to be there. Secondly, despite having a voucher, they treated me really well.
Secondly, and most importantly, I loved my haircut and blowout! Brenna was awesome! She gave me pointers on how to use product I already had plus how to use new products I may be interested in. She also gave me a mini blow out tutorial. I will definitely be back!!!

Loved this place! My mom and I both went for haircuts today and I had Melissa (my mom had Lorelle). I had about 8 inches cut to get a long bob and Melissa did a great job! She gave me exactly what I wanted and it framed my face really well though I would have liked a little more small talk (I’m used to having a conversation with my stylist). My mom got a cut from Lorelle, mainly a trim and redoing some layers. She did an amazing job and my mom did not end up looking like a soccer mom! She looked so chic, definitely a cut for a New York City woman.
The best part was that Antonio himself is present in the salon and takes the time to talk to his customers and do even the little things around the place. He’s very personable, and even gave me a consultation for Balmain hair extensions. After my appointment, he even came by the front just to see how my bob ended up and thanked us for stopping by. Pretty epic place and my mom and I already bought our next haircuts! Can’t wait to come back!
