My boyfriend raved about this place and I finally decided to come… one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. They have specials for everyday of the week. We came on a Tuesday so the special for that day was unlimited margaritas and unlimited quesadillas for $ 20 The quesadillas came with rice and beans. The first round came with three medium sized quesadillas and every round after that came with two. The food was AMAZING!!! The margaritas you get were the original you can either have it on the rocks or frozen. I kinda wish our waiter asked me which type I wanted before he made a decision for me. I hate frozen margaritas and that’s what he decided I would have. Other than that small little mishap, everything else was perfect the food was great. The drinks were on the small side but very, very strong which is always a good. Plus it was unlimited so it didn’t really matter to me. Loved everything about this place, I would highly recommend it.

Amigos is one of the best places to eat around the Columbia world. If it isn’t the central location(UWS) that keeps you going back, it should be the daily specials. My woman, myself and cute little service animal visited, yet again, the other night and sat outside. The first thing that the waiter did after placing silverware and waters was take our drink order. The second? Gave a water bowl to our animal. Big points. The food is always good, with complimentary salsa and chips. The $ 6 margaritas could be a little stronger, but that’s micromanagement, according to the bartender of the evening. Recommended.

This is my new favorite place to sit and sip margarita! The guac is outstanding and the chips are baked on the premises each morning. Friendly service, delicious fajitas and mexican fare at a good price. An excellent spot to relax on the UWS.

My friends suggested this place and boy was it a miss! Three of us met at amigos on a Tuesday evening. The place is really specious and loud. Being that we haven’t seen each other in months we chatted while looking through the menu. One of the severs came over to give us the complimentary watered down sala and chips and was then hailed down by our waiter who pulled him to the side and whispered in his ear to not give us chips. As if we weren’t going to eat and just have the sala and tap water. Very professional ! I ordered the fish tacos with rice and beans. This was a total miss. The rice was burnt and the fish tacos were so bland. Anytime I think of Mexican I think of flavor and spice! And this place has no idea what that may consist of. And the day we went their frozen cocktail machine was not working and we were notified of this after we sat down and ordered. Waste of time and money. With all the restaurants in NYC there’s no need to settle for Amigos.

I find myself always loving the idea of a beer and guac outside, but unfortunately having food here winds up leaving me less than satisfied.

I was around the area and heard about the good drink and food specials so I decided to check this place out. There was no wait, which is always a plus. My friend and I both had a frozen Mango Coronarita, which was inexpensive and strong as well. The service was a little slow, but I can make the exception because our waitress told us she just got employed the day before. We had the guacamole chips and dip for an appetizer, which was pretty good. The best part about this place is that it has soooo many great food and drink specials-DAILY! Recommended for those who love unlimited drinks and sliders!

The service was awful. We ordered really simple things: quesadillas, tacos, and guacamole. Although the chips came out quickly, we waited 20 minutes for the guacamole. We had to remind the waitress twice. She was clueless and inexplicably replaced by another waitress. Guacamole total waiting time: 20 minutes. Hunger setting in. The meals took another 30 minutes. Getting hangry. When they were finally ready, only two out of three meals were brought out. My poor mom had to wait 20 minutes longer for her shrimp quesadilla to arrive. Those can be made with an Easy Bake Oven. It came with a paltry amount of shrimp. I mentioned the long wait to a manager who passed by. He didn’t seem to care at all and only uttered something unintelligible.

I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life to the point where I felt like I needed to leave a review about it. Last week or so, my home girl and I came here for happy hour. We got there at 4pm, the waiter didn’t speak a lick of English first of all. Secondly, we waited a half hour before we realized we didn’t even have a cup of water yet ! We finally get the managers attention and we asked for the special of the day. He specified how the special was valid for one per person(two people can’t share the unlimited margaritas). Okay fine, then he went on to put a time stamp and say it didn’t start until 5pm and we only had a maximum of 90mins for the special. UMMMMM how is that possible when that isn’t advertised in your physical menu nor the one online? Meanwhile your lunch special DOES specify a time frame but not the daily special ? Finally we got a glass of water and our non English speaking waiter was now off the clock. An hour passes and I think I reached out to 3 different waiters asking to be served a drink and they all told me they weren’t my waiter Thennnnn, some other waiter I didn’t see there the whole time I was there comes and slams the bill on table talking about our time was up. HOW??? I haven’t been served the whole hour and a half I been here other than the one special meal and one drink and who are you anyway??? Then had the audacity to try to charge us for two meals because we shared one meal together . After a lot of back and forth the manager allowed us to stay another hour with unlimited drinks and only charged us for the one meal Unbelievable

We stopped at Amigos while walking the length of Broadway(yes, all 13 miles of it) and were craving a quick bite for lunch. It’s located on a cute and busy strip along Broadway, not far from Bank Street and a few doors down from the Seinfeld famous Tom’s Restaurant. They had both sidewalk and indoor seating available when we visited. We opted for indoor near the window. Service was prompt and courteous while we were here – no complaints at all. They provide complimentary chips and salsa which is always a pro. The menu is ample – for both food and drink options. Definitely a TON of specials(each day has a different food special, brunch specials on the weekends, $ 3 margaritas during the day). Definitely a place you can get a great bang for your buck. We both opted for quesadillas(shrimp and chicken) and were surprised to see it came with three medium sized quesadillas, along with sides of rice and beans. Huge portion! Quality was average I’d say, we were satisfied but not blown away. Would definitely come here again for happy hour specials though – looked like a fun spot!

I went back with a group of friends and they seated us. Then our trans friends walked in after us and they told us they were now closing the kitchen even though the table next to us just started to order.

I went here at a random time during finals week, so it was not too crowded and service was great. You get the bang for your buck when you get a margarita: they are STRONG and so good! We got a side of guacamole for two of us, but it could feed 4. The portion was huge and it was pretty good too. I got the chicken quesadillas and they came with guac, pico, sour cream, and sides of rice and beans. I’d say I’m a fan of this place. They give you plenty of food and it’s all pretty good!

The worst service ever. I’ve always gone to this establishment and had no problems until today. Me and a dear friend came and they did not inform us about the change in their special for unlimited margaritas the special Only lasts an hour and a half. And we were not even asked if we wanted more food or anything

The bartender recommended the Chicken Fajita to me, and I like it, although it is only one dish, the ingredients could fill a whole table! But at first I forgot to eat with the tortilla… still tasty. I have to say that the tortilla is not that good… Seems that it is not made just now, it seems like coming from a microwave oven… The bartender was really kind, when packing the leftovers, he gave me an extra bag of chips and salsa, appreciate it!

Yeah what a terrible place. The waiter hated us from the second we walked in. We had to ask no less than 5 times over the course of our meal for water refills, at least 3 for more chips, and I had to go get the check myself. Possibly the most blasé service I have had ever, but at least in the last long time. The food was decent, though, which is surprising considering the horrific service. My shrimp enchiladas had a good flavor if they were drenched in oil. Guac was good and you can customize the spiciness and ingredients. The spicy margarita was really top notch, and at $ 11 I’ve gotten to the point where I think that’s a fair price for a cocktail. When I went to retrieve the check since we had been sitting for a good 20 minutes, I told the manager what a terrible experience we had. He was like, «Oh, I’m so sorry, service is top notch, I’m so sorry, please come back and see us again» asking for my name and stuff. Yeah I mean I won’t be back because I don’t live in NY but I would never go back anyway.

I stopped here for drinks to get my evening started. I was pleasantly pleased they have HAPPYHOURALLDAY. The bartender was very nice and social(he sang happy birthday) I tried the jalapeño cornbread, margarita’s, and best part caipirinha one of my favorite drinks. This was my first time coming here. There was a good crowd of people eating and drinking inside and outside. My next visit I will try something from the menu besides appetizer’s.

This place doesn’t even deserve one star. The mimosas are pre-made with the cheapest knock off orange juice. Their guacamole *BARF* is so watered down & flavorless. If you know good Mexican food this place is NOTIT. My boyfriend didn’t even eat his food he was so disgusted. The rice & beans that came with my flavorless shrimp fajitas where COLDASICE. I didn’t even bother asking the waiter to bring it back, because he was serving the whole restaurant. Why is there only one waiter on a Sunday afternoon shift? I should have stuck with Mc Donald’s all day breakfast instead of this sh*t! Avoid this place at all costs.

Two stars for Amigos:( I’m here in NYC visiting friends for a couple of days. My best friends works in Columbia university area so we decided to have lunch there ! The famous Tom’s restaurant was packed so we chose Amigos ! They had happy hour & of course lunch specials . Sitting at the bar … We were overlooked several times by the bartender. He finally came over & dropped off menus & Walked off … *welcome to New York * lol. Moments like that I wish southern charm & manners ! He eventually came back & asked if we wanted drinks. Water first then we ordered margaritas. They were on special for $ 5. The size was very small. The quality of the tequila was very much a cheaper option. Ehhh could have passed on that . On to food … I ordered the quesadilla special, it came with rice & beans. We sat there for about 15 mins after ordering & no one brought us chips & salsa. We asked & his reply was«it’s only for customers eating food but since I ordered food we could get some. «I read over the menu to see if that was in small print somewhere .My friends decided they would just nibble on chips until they figured out what they wanted. Owen, who was rude but hey, guess it’s the NY thing, assumed my friend was fasting because she didn’t order anything. *side eye * we asked for his name & we talked for a bit. He was very cranky because he normally doesn’t work that shift & implied he makes more during breakfast lol. Sigh … So that was the reason behind crappy service ??? My best friend raved about the service & this place prior to walking in. Her usual person wasn’t there & she apologized for my experience. I didn’t finish my food because the rice & beans seemed microwaved. You can’t really mess up a quesadilla … It was ehhhh ok. Overall, I wouldn’t go back to Amigos unless it was the last option in the area. The drinks were subpar … I left with a little buzz & the urge to eat something else. There’s tons of other food options in the Colombia university area to try !

I’ll start off with the good: Amigos’ appetizers(some of them, anyway, like the flautas) are big enough servings that they can act as an entrée if you’re not someone with a huge appetite. They also have great drinks and salsa/chips(which come free, of course). The staff is also very fairly pleasant and friendly. Now for the somewhat«bad»: if you want an entrée, it’s pretty expensive, IMO. Luckily, as I mentioned before, there are appetizers that are cheaper and can serve as entrees instead. Furthermore, while not«bad» by any means, their food isn’t anything spectacular. If you’re looking to fulfill a Mexican food craving, amigos probably won’t do that for you.

I got Flautas and corn on the cob the first time we ate here. The flautas are REALLY good!!! I didn’t order from the main menu because I do not like mexican dish. The second time we ate here, I ordered the $ 17BBQ Ribs with french fries & coleslaw side dish. I ordered an american food because I think that I will not enjoy any mexican food. Even though their food is spicy, I must say that the BBQ Ribs from Amigos is the best ribs I’ve eaten in my life. I just removed the red sauce and the ribs is perfect… very tender!!! Also, the coleslaw sauce is +++. I didn’t like the fries, but I did’t care because I was very happy of the ribs. There is also a complimentary nachos. The waiter is fast too, our drinks were refilled before they’re empty. I like the ambiance, cool bar and spacious dining!
