Less than 1 star for many reasons, I’m not quite sure where to begin. Perhaps to start with the fact that they don’t allow service dogs inside the outdoor seating area(which is most definitely against the law), nor would they provide water when we requested it for the dog at the end of our meal. The owner came out and was blatantly rude and made a point to make a scene in front of other diners regarding the topic of having an animal there in the first place. He kept calling the restaurant«his house» and said he doesn’t like dogs and it’s his«choice» to banish them from the restaurant. He also made a point to say he doesn’t like children either but sadly has to allow them there. Our dog was extremely obedient and even sat on the outer perimeter of the seating area(so as not to be near any of the other diners). We have never experienced such an issue at ANY restaurant here in New York, so this was an unexpected and sad end to the evening.

I highly recommend ordering the calamari and guac with plantain chips as appetizers. Their pasta specials were really good. As for dessert, go with the brownie sundae.

Went to this place on a whim while leaving work late evening on a Wednesday. Intimate looking bar with barely anyone inside and even live jazz for later in the night. Though prices were steep, it offered a relaxing setting to get out of the cold. Immediately got a seat and asked for a wine list — they didn’t have one(just listed it off) so we settled on a Spanish Red($ 11 a glass). Wine was a little thin and had an odd taste, but figured it’d go fine with the Cheese Plate we ordered($ 18). Three types of cheese served with a few slivers of apple, a tablespoon of jam, and a toasted piece of white bread. Though the plate looked pretty, I was hoping that for the price there would be more/better bread, more jam, and possible some nuts or greens. Cheese itself had good variety and went well with the jam that was provided. Service here is attentive — given that we were one of two tables here. Live Jazz is a plus as well, even if it got a bit loud at times. I would say I wouldn’t come back unless they have a solid happy hour.

This is probably my favorite restaurant in town. Amazing service with a sweet and intimate setting. Absolutely incredible calamari along with mostly everything else. Extremely high quality in an amazing neighborhood! A perfect find!

I love this intimate West Village spot! The food is excellent and the ambience is romantic and cozy. On Monday nights there is live Jazz featuring extraordinary talent. Alexandra captures the essence of the West Village and I will definitely be returning.

Great space this far west in the west village. Nice service and bar. However, the food we ate was uninspired. While I would go for the low key, warm, relaxed environment, the food merely does its job.

We stopped in NYE and we ordered a bottle of wine. The waiter let us know the only bottle of wine they had was $ 52. They brought it out and it was Vezzo(a case of Vezzo is $ 52). This bottle of wine is $ 4 for the bottle when you buy it by the case. Total ripoff.

The owner/manager is horrible here. He is not only rude to the customers, but obviously the employees too. Two employees both told us he is not friendly after we complained. Not worth the food or money because of him.

I typically don’t write Unilocal reviews, but felt inclined to share my experience here. We went in for a night cap and it took thirty minutes to get our drinks, despite our being the only two people at the bar. The bartender disappeared at least twice while mixing our drinks, which might have well been mixed by a ten year old. The«margaritas» that we ordered were a bit of tequila, a bunch of ice, an excessive quantity of club soda, a splash of crappy tripicana orange juice, and a squeeze of lime. I was the. Upcharged by $ 3/drink but didn’t say anything because I wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. Full disclosure, the food looked quite good, but my experience with the bartender and drinks warrants nothing more than a one star review.

Unfortunately I have nothing nice to say about Alexandra’s. The ownership and wait staff are rude and thoughtless. For a neighborhood restaurant, they were so unaccommodating and horribly rude. They actually scared my kids with their attitudes.

I don’t really understand what’s going on here. I was a regular for some time, perching at the small bar counter space. The drinks were standard but a bartender, who soon departed, made them better. A second server/bus boy/bartender was then let go. I soon found that most people I connected with were quick to depart, and alas that made me shift elsewhere because in the New York food and drink scene, hospitality and friendly faces matter.

I came here for lunch and had the veal bolognese with crème brûlée for dessert. The staff and atmosphere was so pleasant! I would recommend Alexandra to impress on a date or business meeting.

Found this place walking down the street from the Clam, at the time it was too packed to get Into, so we continued down to find this quiet surprise. This place was small inside with outside seating, we chose to sit in where there was very light chatter, and politely welcomed in. My only complain décor wise was the table was extremely wobbly and I had to be very conscious of that throughout. We had the cobb salad and the 8oz burger with cheddar and bacon. Priding themselves on the use of organic products(without the organic pricetag I might add), its hardly needed in the description where its clearly found in taste. The cobb salad was light, filling and well dressed, the chicken very well seasoned, and the bacon on both meals, quality. The burger was juicy, flavorful, didnt want it to stop but it was just enough. Fries were a little plain, but with the aioli that came with the burger, they were made well. Will return for future lunch.

While the ambiance is cute and the Strawberry Fields cocktail was tasty, they could upgrade the customer service. During the cocktail hour from 3pm to 6:58pm, you can only order from the cocktail hour menu. This is great but when you’re only 1 hour in to that service range, you actually have what’s listed. First choice, «out of that.» Second choice, «out of that.» Tried to order an alternative on the menu, «you can only choose from the cocktail hour menu.» I also had 4 different servers who’d ask me if I needed something. When I did finally pick an acceptable menu item, it was served and eaten before I received my cocktail. Sadly, I also saw a lovely couple with an adorable child in stroller be turned away after they’d already been told by a waiter they could sit on the patio. They’d settled in, arranged their table and chairs on the nearly empty patio, only to be told by waiter, «sorry my manager just said we will not allow strollers on patio.» The couple had to pack up and leave. I did the order the burger before I left. It was quite good but the delivery included a quick drop off and I waited for a delivery of ketchup and mustard. Will I try again? For sure. I think there’s potential and perhaps feedback will help.

We came here for my birthday dinner and had a great time! Food and service were excellent for our group of 7! Noise level is perfect for talking. The restaurant is cute and cozy! Drinks were tasty! Calamari was really good for the appetizer. I had the seafood paella and my husband had the roasted chicken entrée — we both enjoyed our dishes and portion was plenty. The owner and waitress were awesome, made us feel special! Gave us complimentary champagne and shots for my birthday!!! And desserts! And grilled cheese with tomato soup! Will definitely be back here :)

So lucky to have stumbled upon Alexandra last weekend. My friends and I had planned on dining @ Takashi across the street but we turned away an estimated 3 hour wait time for a table to open up(gasp). Quickly pulled up Unilocal to our rescue & lucky for us, Alexandra had an immediate opening on opentable … We were off to a good start! Food & wine offerings here was excellent. We started off with the calamari appetizer: one of the best calamari dishes I have ever had, hands down. Perfectly breaded & so tasty. I had the seafood paella as my main — very heavy on the seafood(calamari, clams, mussels). Very good dish with a generous portion of seafood, so perfect for seafood lovers; I probably should have ordered a different main course seeing that we ordered the calamari appetizer(seafood wasted?!). My friend ordered the scallops as her main — great presentation & flavors — my other friend ordered the roasted chicken entrée(a rather big portion): came with asparagus, roasted potatoes & onions. Waiter service was spot on … We loved how involved the restaurant management was with the table service also. One of the managers even came around to top off our wine glasses — score! Pleasant & unexpected surprise :) Alexandra is über cozy … darkly lit with little memorabilia around the restaurant walls with old paintings, books, book holders and ducks! We had no idea that the restaurant managers loved ducks so much until one of them came to our table to complement my friend on her dress(she happened to have duck prints on her dress) & then proceeded to bring us complimentary champagne glasses with raspberries in them! We were in love … And felt spoiled. And the drinking continues … As we continue to drink the bubbly, the manager brought us a few duck figurines on a plate to the table for them to hang out with us! We were loving the attention and the personal touch of the manager who brought these duck figurines to life and told us more about how his daughter loves ducks… We were craving dessert so we ordered a brownie sundae with ice cream(swoon! amazing) and it arrived along with … more champagne!!! I don’t think we would ever leave this restaurant had things kept going this way :) Our bill came and they didn’t charge us for the dessert nor the numerous glasses of champs … Such a generous offering … And we stumbled out, chocolate & bubbly wasted … Such a memorable evening. Highly recommend this restaurant! Excellent food, service, cozy factor is a 10+(perfect for date night). Can’t wait to return… might wear a duck printed shirt next time … :)

We went in for drinks and stayed for dinner and jazz! What a warm, cozy, fabulous, yummy evening we had at Alexandra. The servers were lovely… even the gent in the kitchen said hello when I walked by to go to the powder room. We started with cocktails that were well made, with fresh ingredients and served promptly. We followed that up with the two dinner specials. We had the chicken with mashed potatoes and the ribs with corn and cole slaw. The cole slaw featured crisp delicious carrots and candied walnuts. WOW. Well the jazz playing throughout the evening was phenomenal so we ordred another round of drinks and the crème brûlée… there was a macchiatto crème brûlée and a bacon crème brûlée accompanied by a small bowl of blackberries. If I could go every night I would and we will definitely be back.

This place is AMAZING! Not sure why it has low Unilocal ratings… We came in on a Sunday night and were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon live jazz night here. The ambiance is the perfect quaint little romantic restaurant in West Village — great, intimate date place. The food is solid and not too pricey, but the food isn’t what makes this place awesome. The service is what really puts this place over the top — definitely sit at the bar! The lovely Irish bartender was super attentive and made sure we had a wonderful time. Complimentary drinks and dessert! Surround yourself with good people~ They have this espresso macchiato crème brulee that was such a unique and delicious treat — like affogato but crème brulee instead of affogato. Very unique.

I am bucking the trend and going for 4 stars here. I booked this very small little restaurant on Open Table because I hadn’t read any reviews — and I’m glad I didn’t. It was clean(It’s hygiene rating is now an A), cute and the service was absolutely delightful. We were a table of 6 for brunch. I had the special omelette with ham and peppers, which was divine — they must strain the eggs or something to get the omelette so smooth. The coffee was really nice and everyone’s meals(baked eggs/special omelette/poached eggs and polenta) were just scrummy. I wish I had had room for dessert,(they look very tasty) but I was full!
