Hunan Delight is a pretty good spot for Chinese fare. Have ordered takeout twice now, and both times were a hit. The chicken with eggplant is exactly what i’m looking for. Chicken With Eggplant(4.5÷5): Really, really nicely done and flavorful. Eggplant texture is perfect. «Medium» spice level is also not at all spicy. A bit oily but it comes with the territory for this dish. — $ 13 Shredded Pork With String Beans(4.5÷5): Very tasty. String beans were cooked nice and had perfect level of softness. Minced pork was also very good. — $ 13 Bean Curd Home Style(1.5÷5): Tofu texture and flavor were both only okay. Tasted a bit dry. — $ 10 Experience(4⁄5): Ordered takeout twice now. First time, it took a bit longer than promised. Friendly staff. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — How food scoring works(very subjective, and relative to price) 1 — Given the price, no 3 — Worth, taste is on par with 5 — An absolute steal, amazing taste and great value

I was so wrong about this place. I moved into the area recently and have tried a few different chinese places. I walked by here several times but because of how it looked on the outside I never ordered. My roommate did and I must say this is pretty good chinese food. The food is affordable and actually has flavor. This might just be my go to chinese spot.

I love to order from this place. If you want decent chinese food quickly delivered this is the place you need to call. It doesn’t only make your taste buds happy but is a great place for a happy wallet. Cheap delicious food with big quantities

I got delivery from here and was pretty happy. The mei fun and fried rice were pretty standard flavor wise. I also ordered sweet and sour chicken and asked for sauce on the side. They sent the sauce on the side which made me happy. The chicken was a breast fried cut into slices… my family and I were confused and imagined the breading would be soggy but the chicken was great. We all said we’d eat there again. The pork dumplings were good but not extraordinary. Sushi is also decent from here.

A favorite local upper east side neighborhood Chinese sushi spot… Can’t say enough positive things about their food, menu options, fresh sushi and outstanding mom and pop restaurant service… And great delivery service. We’ve been here and ordered takeout countless times … It is our goto spot … Perfect because it is a combination sushi/Japanese and Chinese restaurant and since my son doesn’t like sushi I can get sushi while he gets Chinese. Normally a combo Chinese/Japanese restaurant may lack in quality but they are great at both. Sushi chef David focuses on the sushi, is almost always the one behind the sushi bar, always fresh fish and he makes beautiful, fabulous sushi rolls . Because there are so many sushi restaurants within a few blocks this restaurant often gets overlooked as a sushi spot… And they may get passed by passers by because of their somewhat less visible and outdated awning outside. Once inside the atmosphere is updated, clean, contemporary with plenty of tables perfect for family dining. I’ve brought families, many with several children here, and they’ve always been outstanding with friendly service and accommodating whatever group . A bonus is a complimentary glass of wine with dinner. My son’s favorite Chinese dish is steamed broccoli and chicken with brown sauce. Egg rolls. My Favorite specialty sushi rolls: — Sogo(shrimp, crabmeat, avocado, tuna, salmon scallion drizzled in a sweet special sauce) — Dragon — Kiss of fire(spicy roll with white tuna, salmon, jalapeño peppers, wasabi Tobiko wrapped around spicy crunch tuna) — Sushi cake(spicy salmon crabmeat and tobiko wrapped around spicy tuna avocado) — Rainbow(crab, avocado, tuna, salmon, yellowtail, fluke, shrimp)

My family gets delivery from this restaurant all the time. So many options for food that it’s hard to choose what to order. I live right around the block though and the food comes an hour later.

This was my go to Chinese place, ordered here every Sunday night and sometimes 2x a week. Unfortunately a few months ago my hot and sour soup had what appeared to be a concrete rock chip in it(looks like it chipped or fell off the edge of a cinder block) Nearly broke my tooth. And unfortunately that’s a one strike and your out incident for me even though I liked the food. I meant to walk over what I found to them to save other customers from potentially the same unfortunate experience.

Discovered this restaurant by walking by! Last week ordered the«Happy Family» dish. It was a huge portion and delicious. Pleasantly surprised. Tonight I ordered the«Sesame» noodles and the«boneless» spareribs. Both of which were very generous portions and cooked to perfection! The waitstaff are very nice and extremely accommodating. I «HIGHLY» RECOMMENDYOUADDINGTHISRESTAURANTTOYOURMUSTTRYLIST! I don’t understand the negative reviews because both my experiences have been extreme positive in every sense!

I’m Chinese American and I approve of this restaurant. It’s now my go-to for Chinese food in UES(besides Xi’An). They do a pretty good job at making popular Chinese fare, like kung pao chicken, wontons, chow mein, etc. I was pretty happy with the Kung Pao chicken, cuz a couple other places in UES screwed that up. The«Hunan fish» was yummy, but it’s not anything like the traditional Hunan-style fish dish. Overall, it’s decent, and satisfying, but not mind blowing.

The sushi was amazing and the soft-shell crabs were perfectly prepared. Great for an intimate lunch or a meal with friends. The service is quick, the ambiance bright. The crab is only in season for a short while, so if you’re in the area go try it – and if you’re not in the area, take a trip out. Totally worth it. If it helps at all, I went on a Saturday afternoon. Foodie friends and expert chefs always advise to consume sushi/fish on Thurs through Saturday so you have a nice fresh piece of fish in front of you. Having good company always helps, of course, and it’s fun to order numerous things and sample a little of everything. It’s much quieter than some of the other places nearby. We happened upon it after having a situation with seating at another restaurant a few doors down. The discovery of Hunan Delight was a very happy twist of fate.

Ordered Crab Rangoons and Lunch Special General TSO. Everything with the meal tastes funky and off. The Crab Rangoons were under cooked and falling apart and still drenched in oil. The chicken was over breaded and had a weird after taste to it. I don’t think I will order here ever again.

Oh this place is terrible! Such blah Chinese food. I ordered two lunch specials(General Tso’s Chicken, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce with Minced Pork) which comes with rice, egg roll, soup. The chicken was crispy, but bland. The shrimp entrée was so salty! The soups were flavored with salt. I give two stars because at $ 8.50 each they were cheap and the rice and egg rolls were okay. Perhaps I have higher standards b/c I am Asian, but I will not be ordering from this place again.

Just tried this place for the first time today since I was a little hungover and very starving. I wanted to grab lunch early and my go-to spot wasn’t open yet(it was 11am). This place was pretty good and the lunch special is amazing! Def enough food for 2 meals. For about $ 8 you get an entrée, rice, egg roll and soup! Food was pretty good — definitely hit the spot! I’ll be eating the rest of it for dinner. I like the fact that this is a sit-down place too. Many of the chinese spots in the neighborhood are to-go only. I’ll def be back!

This is our favorite local Chinese place. Definitely a step above the run-of-mill Chinese fast food joints that dot the map(which also have their time and place). The Green Jade Chicken is our go-to dish when we don’t feel like trying something new. The kung pao chicken — thankfully free of bell peppers — is also very good. We liked the udon noodles but probably won’t order sushi from here again; it was fine, and nice to have the option if you want sushi and a Chinese dish, but IMO there are better options in the area if you only want sushi.

This was my first time eating Hunan– and reading the reviews i was quite skeptical. Since i read more good than bad, i decided to give it a shot. I was pleased with the quick delivery and tasty food. Its a basic american chinese food place, nothing too special-but not bad at all! The spare ribs are super delicious, especially well done. I got a large size and i will have left overs for days! The wonton soup is a little bland but what more can you expect for 2 bucks? Its affordable, and most certainly tastes the price you pay– this place is nice, quick and easy. Expect to pay a fortune somewhere else! Will be ordering from here again.

A great consistent staple ! Their food is pretty consistent and has higher quality than a great deal of its local competitors. One of the Better general’s shrimp in the city ! Always hot fresh and great value ! Try their lunch specials for a real value !!!

Reliable delivery but overpriced/nothing special. A mediocre entrée will cost at least $ 15. We need an authentic and reasonably priced Chinese restaurant in this neighborhood.

Despite the fact that they messed up my order this is a very solid choice for American style chinese food. I came from the lower east side because I read that they had crispy shredded beef which has been a favorite of mine but surprisingly difficult to find in this city. Keep in mind they have a number of crispy beefs as well as shredded beefs so make sure you tell them crispy shredded Szechuan beef. I received only shredded beef but it was still great. A bit expensive as well but including the rice you can split this over two meals
