This place is awful. Delivery said it should take 20 – 30 minutes. It has been 90 minutes since we ordered. When we called in to ask about the status they talked briefly to us and then hung up. We called seamless to complain and notify them of the issue. Only then did Aki call us back and apologize for saying that they delivered the food to wrong address. This place wreaks of scam. Avoid this restaurant like the plague.

Ordered dinner from them based on the 5 star seamless web review. The food is just average. Not terrible but nothing spectacular but I will not be ordering from this establishment again. There are plenty of sushi restaurants in nyc. What made me give them 1 star is the delivery guy. He literally had to wait for just 5 minutes from the time he called me to the time I picked up the food. He kept calling me within that 5 minutes. As I was walking towards him to get my food, he gave me a death stare and started shaking his head at me like I just banged his wife. Dude, if you hate your job that much find a new one! To Aki Sushi, customer service goes a long way. You need to train your employees to smile at the bare minimum and train them not to harass your customers! Tip: never trust seamless web ratings. Use Unilocal

Awful, terrible, disgusting. Won’t come back again. The best part of my order is tap water, which is kinda normal…

Ordered via Seamless(do not believe those revews), as apparently many people do. Food took a little longer than expected, though the Gyoza was still warm. Salad and Gyoza were fine, though not enough sauce came with the Gyoza, but the sushi rolls were subpar(both a spicy roll combo and the Under Control roll), with some fishy aromas emanating from a couple. Would not order again.

Showed up here at 7pm and got right in. Definitely doesn’t deserve 2 stars. Had 5 different rolls and all of them were great. Shumai appetizer was so-so, but rest was decent. Friendly staff. If you want high end sushi, this isn’t the place. If you want good sushi and get out of the place for less than $ 30−40/person(depending on how much you drink)… This place is great.

This sushi is edible. Oh but you probably wanted something better than that, didn’t you? Well you won’t find it here! During a meeting at work I found this place on Seamless where it had raving four star reviews. I wish I would have checked Unilocal first. I always check Unilocal first. Like many other one and two star reviews the three sushi special was okay at best. My rolls fell apart and lacked any real flavor. The miso soup was extraordinarily watered down and bland. The best part of my lunch was the salad. What a shame. Never again.

I walked here at noon to get my pick-up at Aki sushi. Though apparently this place was not authentic(opened by Chinese rather than Japanese), they provided pretty decent lunch special deals — with two rolls plus soup and salad at 9.95. It was also pretty fast, so if you are expecting something quick, it was not a bad choice.

Ordered on seamless(4 star rating) before checking Unilocal and nearly had a meltdown. I very religiously(probably too much so) rely on Unilocal so when I saw it was a 2 star I actually thought about canceling my order. I decided to just take a chance and honestly it wasn’t as bad as most of the reviews on here. I ordered pickup(seems like delivery is their bigger problem). My order said it was ready at 8:13 pm. I walked in at about 8:18 pm and they looked at me like I was an alien. I told them I had a seamless order and then looked around at the 20 seamless bags that were in line to be delivered. They never said another word to me so i assumed my order wasn’t ready and they were preparing it. About 8 – 10 minutes later they gave me my order. Meanwhile during that time, I think i heard«new seamless order» about 15 – 20 times. I literally couldn’t believe how many orders they were getting. I was so nervous about my food making me sick or something that I ended up only eating a bit of it, but what I had did taste good. If I hadn’t checked Unilocal first I certainly wouldn’t have been as biased. Salmon sashimi, a titanic roll and shrimp shumai — all OK. I won’t order from here again with all the other sushi options available.

Horrible. Rude woman answered the phone when I called after delivery is over 30 minutes late. Don’t give these people your business.

Ordered from Seamless for work. I was late to pick up the food and the delivery guy flipped out on me, verbally berating me even after I apologized. Even after he left he continued to verbally harass me(five hours later) via text message, cursing and threatening my life(he hoped that«God would kill me»). I will never order from Aki Sushi again based on this experience(not to mention the terrible quality of the sushi).

Whoever wrote great reviews for this place on Seamless must have been paid, and I’m kicking myself for not checking Unilocal as well(won’t be making that mistake again). Like others below, the seamless reviews tricked me into ordering from here instead of the usual sushi spot around the block that I know is safe and tasty(you never really appreciate how great you have it until you stray away). The food arrived pretty quickly, but that was the end of anything positive. The ginger salad, which I usually love, went straight into the trash. The dressing was pale yellow. I have never in my life seen pale yellow ginger dressing. It had a very strong lemon taste and was watery looking. I became concerned and dumped it. The salmon and avocado sushi roll tasted strongly and suspiciously of lemon. As far as I know, lemon is usually used to mask unpleasant tastes, like, say, rotten fish hmmm. But being hungry, frugal, and foolish I ate the roll instead of ordering a different lunch. Foolishly, I also ate the shrimp shumai that was mostly tasteless, but on one of them I could see the«guts» of a shrimp. Now I’m sitting here mad at myself, and terrified that in three hours I’ll violently ill. Avoid this place, unless you like the anxiety of wondering whether you have food poisoning.

This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had ordering from a restaurant. It took an hour for the food to arrive. The problem is, they are on my street, only a few buildings away. I called after 40 minutes to find out what was happening with my order. Judy told me the food was sent. Ten minutes later I called again, but she picked up the phone, said«please hold» and kept me on hold without saying one word to me for 6 minutes. When she finally picked up the phone, again, she said the food was sent. Finally, after an hour the food arrived. I sent the delivery man away WITHOUT accepting my food and bought food from another restaurant. When I said I wanted to speak to the manager, Judy continually was rude. This is a person who takes her job for granted. She completely ruins the relationship the patrons have with the restaurant. Even if the food were given to me for free, I would not eat it. The fish caused me to become extremely ill on many occasions. When they took an hour to deliver the food and then, INADDITION, we’re incredibly rude, my mind was made up. Not a very smart way to do business when Unilocal exists for customers to provide reviews! They should make sure to thank Judy.

I thought this food was really average. I had some good sushi it was the sushi of the night with some lobster in it and wrapped it cucumber it was really fresh. But the people didn’t really care about customer service I guess they are more concerned with to go orders. But the food was decent it came out fast the location was lacking a personal touch and all the pedestrians were rude(I think certain places attract certain people). But if you have no other options its better than others

I normally avoid sushi restaurants with less than 4 stars reviews on Unilocal but a mixup on my seamless got me to order here… i ended up getting takeout, and thought it was actually pretty good! and prices were reasonable as well. the seamless orders here are crazy… as i was waiting for my food, the seamless orders came in non stop… so. no complaints since my sushi rolls were good, i thought the salmon was fresh, and it was not pricey.

Worst sushi I’ve ever had. Just gross. Spicy tuna roll was all mayo and small mushy pieces. Salmon roll tastes like scraps. Not fresh.

Ordered a $ 12.95 chirashi and I guess I should know better, but how do you review a place like this? Probably not on taste or preparation, cause you know already what you’re in for. I guess… on its health effects? The«fish» was all kinds of fishy, colorfully noxious shades of disgusting. It’s funny how a single letter makes all the difference. FISH, not FISHY, please. You can’t just hit up ShopRite, pick up some chum, slice it up and call it «sashimi». The fish I ate from here had HISTORY. Like, weathered a long journey from the time they met their end, passed along and handled by many a soiled hand, and left on the counter to meditate and reminisce before finally getting served. So, how should ratings for terrible sushi restaurants be distributed? Do you need to actually be poisoned for a place to get the minimum, or it is enough to just FEEL sick to earn that mark? If a lower rating was truly appropriate, I’d probably just call the cops. The zombie apocalypse hasn’t hit us yet, but this place tastes as if it had.

I’ve ordered from them before and it was decent low budget sushi. Tried them again today as I just wanted a quick delivery. Food arrived very fast in about 20 minutes. The tuna looked a little funny… it had kind of an iridescent shimmer. I ignored it. Popped it in my mouth. Immediately spit it out. It wasn’t a particularly fishy taste, but more how you might imagine any other animal might taste if left raw in the sun for a couple hours… definitely not like tuna sushi… and definitely not like anything I would want to put in my mouth, masticate, swallow, and allow to indefinitely become a part of my body in the harmonious circle of life dance that would typically define my relationship with low-grade budget NYC sushi… So anyway… after calling them up and explaining that something was just not quite right with their tuna, they insisted that it was fresh and just delivered that morning. Now, I’m sure I don’t need to explain it to you, smart readers, but just because something was delivered that same morning to the door of the NYC restaurant, likely hundreds if not thousands of miles from where it was harvested from the depths of our oceans, in now way guarantees its freshness or its quality. I tried to explain this to them. They didn’t care and actually laughed, «That’s just the way it tastes.» I politely asked for my money back. They said, «No!» I said, «Please.» They hung up.

Wanted to try this restaurant out because the 3 roll combo was so cheap, but you literally get what you pay for. the sushi is falling apart… The rice doesnt even stick on to the seaweed, Feel like theres no difference between the spicy tuna or spicy salmon… never again am I ordering from here.

I wish zero stars was an option. It is a bad sign when you go into a restaurant at 1pm in midtown and there are no patrons. I was not the ring leader and went ahead with it anyway, my mistake… The entire restaurant smelled like spoiled fish. The smell was my cue to skip on the sushi. I ordered the soba, what could go wrong? The soba was overcooked and slimy and the broth tasted like water with the color of mud. The soba was listed as tempura which came with two cold greasy shrimp. Also into the bowl was a large amount of what seemed to be frozen shitaki mushrooms, not listed in the ingredients. After picking out all the unlisted ingredients I tried unsuccessfully to eat but was unable to do so. The waitress came to remove the plates and asked me if there was something wrong with my dish. After listing all the issues she brought out the bill and my soba was still listed. Never again…

I went to Aki Sushi for lunch and the pricing of the food is very reasonable. I had the Chirashi deluxe lunch special for $ 12.95. It came with an assortant of sashimi, total of 9 pieces plus a few pieces of crabmeat and tamagoyaki(omelette). There is a bowl of miso and salad as part of this set. The plate that the chirashi was served on was large and it had seasoned rice on it as well. I also tried the Maki combo where you choose up to 3 rolls for $ 12.95 as well, and I chose salmon avocado, yellowtail scallion, and spicy tuna. These tasted okay mostly, but the spicy tuna was not spicy at all. Also 2 rolls is enough for lunch unless you’re starving. The restaurant is spacious, with stools up at the sushi bar and plenty of tables further back. Service is good, they constantly refil the green tea without asking. I saw there were some great daily specials like uni(sea urchin) and tuna belly(toro), along with some special rolls. It seems to me that the restaurant is not super busy at lunch but get the majority of their orders from delivery.
