I. Love. Ahana. I order takeout about 2x a week. Food is great, prices are great, staff is great. It’s definitely my go-to Japanese/Thai spot in the area. No complaints whatsoever!

Seamless review. The food here is really good. I’ve tried a variety of sushi from Ahana and I’ve always received consistent quality. For the price, I would have a difficult time finding a comparable sushi joint even in the outer boroughs. However, the delivery time is way too slow. Even though the restaurant itself opens at 11, you could start placing orders at 9, which is a bit misleading. I usually order at 9:30, receive an estimated delivery time of 11:40, and ultimately receive the order at around 12:30. We send people to pick up orders from the delivery guys, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and tag on 15 minutes delay. That is still more than half an hour later than advertised. Oh and more than once they have forgotten the soysauce in my order. They offered to re-deliver(and we all know how much more time that’d take) but I was so hungry by that time I went just ate a sandwich instead. I will change to a better rating when they fix up their seamless a bit to reflect their delivery time and open time more accurately… until then, no amount of good food amounts to anything if its not even here.

This place hits the spot when you need some decent and affordable thai or japanese. I love their rolls. Crab salad is also good. Recent dishes were the sushi and sashimi combo as well as unagi don. Lunch specials are a good deal.

We are very selective about Asian Fusion cuisine and for us to frequent the same restaurant several times a week says a lot. Absolutely the most friendliest staff; Great place to have a cozy and delicious meal — a comment shared by many of my neighbors as well. My favorites: Home made wonton soup, Ramen noodles with marinated eggs, by special request only — «dragon ball» crab meat salad overlayed with thin slices of avocado and topped with tobiko, chicken katsu, general tso’s chicken, and of course, galore of SUSHI delights!

I’m a regular here(so much so that they know my order by heart) and I’m pleased every time I come here. It’s never very crowded which surprises me because I think it’s one of the best Asian restaurants in the area. It’s a little more expensive than some other places($ 11 – 13 per entrée) but most come with either a soup or salad so it’s worth it. My go to order is the chicken masaman curry which is actually the best chicken masaman I’ve had in the city. Many curries I’ve had at other places are watery but ahanas is delicious rich and just the right degree of spice. The same applies to the green curry. Both have marinated bamboo sprouts which adds some great flavor. They don’t skimp on the quantity either. I’ve never personally had the sushi but I’ve been with friends who have had it and they enjoyed it as well. The stir fry is also good but I’m always gonna pick the curry :). Overall a great place and I’d highly recommend it.

Currently here for lunch. They offer a 10% discount for hospital employees which I happen to be. I went with the 2 roll lunch special for $ 9.50. I was literally the only person at the restaurant which I guess is not that alarming since it’s 3 o’clock on a weekday and the lunch rush for the most part has ended, but it’s summer so I feel like there should still be at least one another person here. Anyway, I put in my order immediately(went the basic route, philly roll and salmon avocado) and the waitress/hostess got a call right after and did not put my order in to the sushi chef. I didn’t like that, but whatever. I got my food shortly after she put the order in. I was not impressed. I’ve had high quality, fresh sushi before and this is not. It tastes a little better than what I presume gas station sushi tastes like, not like I would ever intentionally subject myself to that. It’s the type of sushi that if you tell your friend that’s never had sushi before to try, he/her will never want to eat it again. Definitely explained why the place was empty. Probably not returning ever again.

*3.5 stars, reviewing takeout service* There are a number of takeout sushi places in my area, so for Ahana to have won my vote one Friday night means that it must’ve been more appealing than the alternatives. Offering far more than sushi, the restaurant markets itself as serving«Asian fusion cuisine,» and is located near the corner of 63rd and 1st Avenue. Nevertheless, after reading so many good things about Ahana’s sushi, I concluded that trying one of its rolls would be the best choice. So, through Seamless, my boyfriend and I ordered: the avocado & cucumber roll($ 4.95) with brown rice(+$ 1.00), and the chicken pad thai($ 13.95), which comes with miso soup and rice. Sure enough, when we arrived 15 – 20 minutes later, our food was there waiting. Right away, I was impressed by the appropriate ratio of cucumber and avocado to rice. Too often in the past, I’ve had rolls that were primarily rice with minimal filling. This balanced appearance was a great first impression, and the taste followed suit. An extra plus was the amount of chicken pad thai included in our order. The dish, described as «sautéed Thai rice noodles with egg, bean sprouts, scallions and crushed peanuts,» was accompanied by a generous serving of rice and soup(as I mentioned earlier). While I didn’t eat any of the pad thai, the portion size was just enough to satisfy my boyfriend’s hunger. Overall, Ahana is a solid option for enjoyable food at a reasonable price. In the future, we plan on dining in to see how their in-house service measures up. I have no doubt that it’ll be just as good, if not better.

Went to Ahana on Saturday night and were the only customers– not sure why because the food was delicious! This place doesn’t look anything fancy but the food is good, reasonably priced and the staff are friendly. We had the Fried Scallops and Pork Gyoza to start. The scallops were nothing special but the Gyoza were delicious little parcels of pork and vegetable with a tasty dipping sauce. For main we shared Teriyaki Beef, Chicken Yaki Soba Noodles and the Black Miso Cod. The beef was cooked perfectly medium and was the best teriyaki I’ve had. The Yaki Soba was tasty and while I wasn’t in the mood for fish my dining companions raved about the Miso Cod. A thoroughly enjoyable meal. Next time though I might order take away as whilst the staff were great you won’t miss out on any atmosphere by eating at home on the couch.

I absolutely LOVE this place!!! Their pad thai is amazing. I am growing especially fond of their Salmon Teriyaki, which is always cooked to perfection. The service here is wonderful. I believe Ahana is one of the best Thai places in the neighborhood. I would recommend this place to my family and friends. Keep up the great work Ahana!

These guys make better Thai food than any of the Thai restaurants in the neighborhood. but it’ll cost you a bit more. Their Pad Thai — it’s frigging pink. Pink noodles. I ate all of it. It’s the best. Their chicken penang is also badass.

This could have gotten 4 stars… but the waitress ruined it. The food here was really yummy and I ordered chicken hibachi, which came with a side of white rice and miso soup(or salad). Really awesome portion size and I was filled up! The chicken was so tasty and so were the veggies. Side note: they charge you a little extra(I believe it was $ 2 dollars) for fried rice instead of white rice. Anyway, me and my friend went on a Sunday so the restaurant was not busy, like at all. YET, I had to chase after the waitress for more water because she and the other employees where chit-chatting away in the back. Seriously? When it came time to pay, my friend paid for her dish in cash and I decided to go with the good ol’ card. Her dish was a little more pricey. I told the waitress TWOTIMES to charge the chicken hibachi on my card. She still charged me my friend’s dish. YOUHADONEJOB!!! Seriously, the waiter service is a bit crappy. Pay attention to your customers, even if there is only one table occupied. not a huge deal but so damn annoying. :(

After my latest visit to Ahana, I have to say it was quite good and reasonably priced. After visiting overpriced and cheaply portioned Fatty Fish(Michelin rated my ass!) around the corner last week this is a really decent sushi joint(it’s fusion so there’s Japanese, Thai, and Chinese dishes on the menu). The servers are SO nice. The fish was fresh. They made a yummy crispy salmon skin and tobiko hand roll for me(not on menu), they get another star just for that ;) This is not mindblowing sushi like I’ve had in more expensive places or in california, but it’s good. The ramen is chinese style, a good bowl of noodle soup.

I was being really picky here given Japanese is my favorite type of food, so asking for a higher quality. This is again, a delivery order, so it has nothing to do with service. Ordered miso black cod, miso soup and veggie salad, so I judged it solely based on the cod. First of all, I was looking for lemons, none. Miso sauce? None either. It was just cod on lettuce, that’s it. Very disappointed. A side note here: the chopsticks were of low quality and can easily be broken. Make sure to ask for forks at least.

Ordered the sushi sashimi combo for delivery. Very happy with the experience. Great food, decent portions, fast delivery, and 20% off on seamless for the first order. The miso soup that came with the entrée ended up getting slightly spilled in transit but no major or minor damages were done to the food contents or the soup itself. The sushi and sashimi were all very fresh and the slices of fish were very thick. I asked for extra ginger and wasabi as I love both and they gave me more than enough of both. The entrée is $ 24.75 but with the discount, it ended up being $ 4.95 off the total price. Definitely recommend!

I have ordered from Ahana 3 times and therefore am writing my review to discuss the varying quality of my food at Ahana. Each time I have had the Pad Thai and last night I ordered a special sushi roll and Pad Thai. The first 2 times I thought my food was decent. Not the best Thai food in the neighborhood, but definitely the best bang for your buck. The food comes in a timely manner and each dish comes with a soup or salad for $ 12. However, last night I was completely turned off by this restaurant and will not be ordering from here again. My Pad Thai was dry and flavorless and almost inedible. Also, the sushi I I ordered was average, for $ 14 the roll was tiny and definitely not worth the price.

There’s a special at dinner for take-out only — $ 5.99 for a roll or rice, miso soup or Thai ice tea, and an appetizer(spring roll, shumai, dumplings, etc.). Cash-only for this special. Wife and I tried three of ‘em. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon were good — they come with the little flakes off the tempura so nice and crunchy. The miso soup was pretty vanilla. The thai ice tea — skip it, tasted like plastic. Spring roll and gyoza were good, though tiny portions. Service — slow and not friendly. The sushi chef was doing the orders and completely skipped over ours even though we were waiting right there — he seemed startled that we weren’t eating in. The restaurant itself was far too warm — when my wife complains, and she loves warm — then it’s at the point where I was sitting there and just sweating. The selection is the average sushi joint and the prices aren’t too high, but this is a Chinese-run Japanese restaurant, so can’t compare to the service levels elsewhere.

Ordered take-out from their lunch special, 3 rolls for $ 12 and comes with either miso soup or salad. Hostess by the door was very professional and sweet. The place is really cute too and the sushi is fresh and of high quality! They don’t give you small pieces of avocados or fish in them like other places do for their lunch specials! Definitely coming back for the full experience!

I love that the rolls have an equal portion of filling. I love that they don’t use so much rice. I love that it tastes so fresh. I love that the peanuts are not plain, I assume it’s honey roasted(this always adds a nice touch to nuts). The rolls I ordered: AAC roll, Mango avocado roll, Peanut avocado roll, and Ume roll. Yasai gyoza — typical vegetable dumpling. I enjoyed that it wasn’t soggy. The staff is so nice! I ordered pick up and there was a computer problem. the waitress told me to take a seat and offered me water. She tried to resolve it right away while serving tables.
