This tiki bar above Hotel Sixty is an odd destination. What is a tiki bar with a view doing in the middle of New York? I don’t know – but don’t question it. Order yourself s fruity drink – rum and pineapple, perhaps – take a seat on one of their wide couches that looks like it came out of an 80’s living room, and chat the night away in this roomy oasis. Coconut bra not included.

Very odd experience here. I and a few friends had a relaxing dinner at Sessanta, the new restaurant in Sixty Soho and then we decided to go to A60, the rooftop bar. While this is billed as a members only space, in my experience, I’ve been able to go up to the rooftop after eating at Kittichai(the restaurant which used to be in Sessanta). We spoke to the doorman who stands in front of the hotel lobby, who let us up noting that a private party was starting in an hour and we may have to leave. We made our way to the rooftop, sat down and ordered the first of several rounds of drinks. The next thing I know, the doorman from downstairs has stormed onto the rooftop and yells at my group noting that he did not let us upstairs and then stormed out. He claimed that he only meant we should go to the second floor bar(although I am sort of assuming this because he was largely unintelligible). I suppose this is possible and there was a misunderstanding, but the solution should not be to yell at guests who have already been seated at a table and ordered drinks and then storm out. If it was that offensive that we were on the rooftop, you could have politely asked us to leave. The crowd at A60 was not chic, attractive or similar to crowds you’d see at other popular soho spots and quite frankly, on any other night, I would have probably quickly left but was with friends who insisted we should stay and enjoy the beautiful weather. The crowd felt like midtown bar /bridge and tunnel plus european tourists on the weekends. I don’t like characterizing places that way, but it was not clear to me who or what they were trying to keep out, given that it seemed like the crowd was such a random mix of people. I do agree that the view is beautiful. The entire experience was incredibly odd. Also, to top off the night, the«host» at A60(complete with orange capri pants and a fedora) seemed incredibly drunk for the entire time we were there.

Cocktails, service, music and view are amazing. This is the best cosy rooftop bar in nyc.

The staff are terrible, unfriendly, arrogant and the view and drinks are absolutely not worth it – terrible taste, weak and simply not well done. The view… you see the Empire State. But it’s so far away that it’s not impressive at all. Please save your time, money and effort. It wasn’t incredibly hard to get in but trust me, it’s not even worth it to try.

I was highly recommended by a friend to check out this rooftop bar. The martinis were very well made, and we also had the beef tacos. Overall, the ambience of the rooftop was super comfortable and relaxing. I was able to enjoy my time and my +1 was also very impressed with the place. I’ll be back! :-)

Not sure what the hype is about. Not that fantastic of a view and disappointed in both the drinks and appetizers. It does have a nice and relaxing atmosphere, but that’s all about going for it. I would highly recommend going to another rooftop.

Came here for a celebratory drink after Germany won the world cup! i was with a bunch of newly found friends and they said they wanted to grab a drink. So i followed. We ended up here and i couldn’t hear what my friend said but he talked to the door man quick and they let us right in and we took the elevator up to the roof. This was an awesome little spot with some outdoor couches and a small bar. There was a 2 drink minimum if you used your credit card. I just had 2 glasses of champagne and basked in the glory of Germany winning and the awesome weather that day. The view up here is amazing and its very nice. Luckily it was really just us up there and maybe 2 other couples. I had no idea this place was exclusive in any way but judging by the other Unilocal reviews it looks like some people had trouble here. It seemed like we just walked in honestly but after the 4 pints i just downed right before coming here what the hell do i know.

View is absolutely breathtaking, I got there around 6:30PM, just enough daylight to take some amazing pictures. Although I wish the bushes and plants are trimmed a little shorter so it is easier for seated people to enjoy the view without having to stand up. Drinks are okay, I sipped a cup of Rose. Waiters provided excellent service, which included picture taking(I was there by myself) for their customers.

The setting and the view are amazing, but that means nothing if the drinks and the food are terrible. Just terrible. The drinks taste like they were mixed in a shoe. I left and went somewhere I knew I could get a decent drink.

My review is based entirely on this bar Not Being Open. I’m here for two nights in August: a Wednesday and a Thursday. The bar is shown as «open» by the hotel(from 5pm to late), but when I went up at 5:05 Wednesday, I found five employees sitting around eating dinner… I asked if the bar was open and they said«No, try in an hour». Really? I left and found a nice neighborhood bar(where I took my whole team and dropped about $ 600 on pre-dinner drinks… too bad the Thompson didn’t want our business…). The next night, I asked the concierge if the roof was open and she just said«no, it’s not open tonight». Look, it’s fine with me if you don’t want to open this place, but please don’t market it as part of the hotel experience.

I came here for a work event, so I’m a little bit biased but I really enjoyed this place. I can’t imagine it being any worse otherwise. Good drinks, good food, a GREAT view.

Cozy and romantic rooftop on top of the thompson hotel. Their drinks are better than your average rooftop but would not say it’s stellar. You are most likely to find flocks of couples up here as opposed to groups of buddies hanging out. The seating is incredibly tight and you may feel a bit cramped. Great view even though is a bit in the distant. It’s limited to guest only but you may enter if you dine at kittichai and ask them for a pass to get pass the bouncer at the elevators. Gents, good place to impress the ladies after a nice dinner downstairs, take note.

This review is for the bar only! I went out with my boss and two visitors from our London and Bethesda office for dinner. After dinner, the visitors wanted to get some drinks before heading back to their hotel. We wandered around the area looking for a quite-ish place to hang out that was more lounge like but still appropriate since it was still business right? even if it’s after hours? My boss claims that he’s been to a place around here for thai food and it has a very nice bar. So our party of four went in looking for the bar. The hostess said we can go upstairs to the rooftop. As far as we knew, the rooftop was for hotel guests only. We head over to the staircase, which we had to go back out the front and enter through another door. The security/bouncer/doorman whatever you want to call him asked where we were going and asked if we were hotel guests. We were like the hostess just sent us over here. He sent us back to the hostess(es). So they reluctantly let us hang out at the«bar,» which was more like a lounge in front of the restaurant. There was another party of two there. Our visitor from London is such a heavy weight! Even after all of us got blasted, he was still very sober, no evidence of any drinking. Service was much better once we sat down, but then we ordered like several hundred dollars in drinks and shots — they better start treating us with some respect. Bar closes at 12am, they kindly informed us about 15 minutes prior in case we wanted to get any last orders in. Of course we got more shots. We hung around until 1am, but they didn’t kick us out. I sound like an alcoholic right about now, but I promise I never drink this much!

I feel like somewhat of a hypocrite on this one. Last week, I reviewed Kittichai and said I would not be returning, thanks to certain creatures I encountered toward the end of my meal. Well, as it turns out, I was at A60 last night… and, I really liked it. ;p Ok, so they’re not quite the same, right? One’s a restaurant, the other’s a bar. One’s on the ground floor, the other’s on the roof. One’s open to the public, the other’s limited to hotel guests and members… although we were neither and were still able to get in… maybe because it was a Sunday night? ANYway, the view from this swanky little terrace was AWEsome! The lounge chairs, wooden tables, and strategically arranged plants and planters made this space cozy and sexy. The drinks and bites were fine… nothing to rave about… given the view and the swank though, the substance of the menu really just took a back seat.

I don’t understand the obsession with A60. Or maybe the obsession ended a couple years ago and I’m just behind the times? In any case, there are so many rooftops in this city that are SO much better than this one. Yeah, the views are ok, but the scene is so boring. And the place is tiny, lacking in good music and the drinks are fine but not great. Members-only for this place? Please. Not a member and not jealous about it either. Skip it and head to Jimmy. Nearby and way cooler.

Umm… no? Would you like to pay a lot for ok drinks on a rooftop with dead plants, crappy furniture and biting insects? I thought not. P. S. Hey cocktail waitress, you’re not that cool, I don’t know who told you you were. Although I really really like that dress and would like it for my own.

Great drinks! Chill intimate clean relaxing rooftop. Check pix. Is small and not swinging and bustling, but I stopped in on an early friday evening(around 5:30) after a relaxed outdoor bite and drink with my mom at dos caminos 4 blocks away, and it was actually exactly what we were in the mood for. A comfy clean rooftop, some views, some nice drinks, just lounging relaxing and enjoying the weather and conversation. We entered the hotel and were told to sit and wait in the lobby for the rooftop man. We did not have a card or membership but my coworkers were the ones who originally suggested meeting here for drinks and as i briefly explained that, we were given stamps on our hands and let up, no hassle really. Rooftop man indeed explained that its usually hotel guests or members only but he was very calm and respectful and professional, helpful even, as he was trying to look out for my coworkers or anyone else we were expecting. Dont know if maybe my company had made reservations or something but i doubt that it was an official event as we get casual suggestions emailed every week for how to enjoy our summer fridays(getting out of work early) Could have been my jobs well known name, or cause the place wasnt busy, or maybe they always let in a few walk-ins. I think we just had good timing, plus i always carry an air of VIP importance ;-) Either way we were up, easy as pie. The rooftop itself was cut in half with the elevators in the center, to the left was the side with the bartender, to the right was the side we sat on, they were introduced as «the shady side or the sunny side». Had a little eastern garden feel to it with the little trees and bushes, dark woods, and budda-esque décor. There was a little music, and it was really low, i dont remember anything good but it wasnt annoying. Im sure they switch it up for the evening once the place gets a little more populated(IF the place even gets busy at all, will find out another time if i come at later hours) All the waitresses wear nice Nicole Miller sundresses. There were about 3 different waitresses stopping in to take our drink orders and see if we needed anything else, and then some bus boys would slide in between and grab empty glasses. Full team effort. Service was very gracious and attentive, not overwhelming. But i think that is to be expected when there are only about 5 other people there and this venue insists on such exclusivity. ALSO, even tho we only had 2 drinks, they automatically add a 20% gratuity, just beware of that cause i had realized that only after i had already filled in the tip lines, as the bill that fully breaks it down was(conveniently?) placed below the others, so once i saw that i scratched out my tip and just rounded it out to the next 5, its a lil dangerous for people like myself who usually dont look at the bill and just give their cards and sign, glad that presented itself, but no big deal, service was good regardless and i was pleased to have such a low bill. I made sure to take a couple pix since i saw that the Unilocal gallery was slightly lacking. The menu was a simple 3 pages, 1 appetizers, 2 bottles, 3 drinks, all fairly priced by rooftop standards(see pictures). If you follow my reviews or just know me, u know that i appreciate this quality over quantity simplicity, because i tend to get overwhelmed when there is an extensive menu with too many options, i like a place that narrows it down to their specialties and sticks to it. Anyway, i had the Pineapple Caipirinha, mom had the Kittichai lychee. Hers tasted nice. Mine was wonderful, was just as described on the menu and you could taste all the ingredients. Had nice chunks of pineapple which i enjoyed eating at the end of the drink and the brown sugar grains while drinking were so interesting. Was just nice and refreshing. We had already stuffed ourselves with guacamole and frozen margaritas at D.C. and had to head out early so i didnt try as much stuff as i would have liked but I def look forward to coming back and trying more of their drinks. Best rooftop drinks I have had in NY thus far. Their view is just decent but not the best, not«breath taking» as other Unilocalers say. Press @ ink48 still has them beat in that dept. and Press is still my fav. rooftop overall. But A60 was perfect for the moment. Was conveniently located blocks from where we already were, nice and intimate and private and clean w/good service and GREAT drinks. Really chill at the time i went, cant say much about the crowd because there really wasnt any i guess since it was still early but whoever was there was having quiet conversation and spread out on the couches real comfy. Perfect to lounge and slow down after a long or busy day and just enjoy a beautiful sunny day. Just relaxing and pleasant. On the way out we saw a nice lounge area on the second floor too, will def consider it if i am in the area and need a lounge during the colder months. Would definitely be back. IF they let me back in ;-)

Just got back. I’d say it’s nice, but not up to these rave reviews– with the exception of the drinks being very strong. View is OK, but leave the camera in your room. Space is small which leads to exclusivity, but the appeal should be about the space not the occupancy. By comparison, the Setai lounge is 10x the size but much more appealing. Small, marginal review. Sorry, I just don’t get it.

What a place! My two friends after my show told me we had to check out the rooftop bar in NYC. For one I was shocked how relatively easy it was to get in… and 2nd… NOCOVER… especially in NY thats a surprise. We ended up grabbing a few drinks and I really enjoyed the Cherry Vodka Coke that they were serving. The drinks were a bit pricy… but relax… Its NY what do you expect? The crowd was pretty friendly… not too pretentious. The highlight of the venue was of course the views of NY. just amazing… and if you were cold they had red snuggies to keep you warm… Overall 90⁄100
