I came here with a friend on a Wednesday and to my pleasant surprise, found out that it was flamenco night. We managed to grab seats by the bar, and though it was a bit cramped, the place was quite cozy. We ordered a pitcher of sangria and several tapas to share. Very reasonable prices for the area. The sangria was quite nice; sweet but still strong enough so it didn’t taste like fruit juice. The chorizo was quite tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. What my friend and I liked the most was the dessert. We had chunks of chocolate on toast with a drizzle of olive oil. Simple as it may sound, it was rich and delicious. The bartender seemed a bit tense at first, but it’s understandable seeing as the place was packed. The vibrant energy of the performances and the warm ambiance of the place makes me excited to come back on a Wednesday.

Stop #2 on a Sunday sangria hunt with my bestie. We had tapas at Boqueria, so this was only a short walk down Crosby from the last spot. It’s another tapas restaurant, small but long and cozy inside. We sat at the bar, and ordered 2 red sangrias. They were strong, wine-y(in just the right way) but smooth. The bartender was awesome, she was very dainty and pretty and just kind of floated around the place. We only had 1 drink here, but the menu looked good and other people in the place seemed to be enjoying their various tapas dishes. There are some very cool elevated booths in the back which could be fun @ night with a group of friends. I enjoyed the ambiance as much as the sangria, and I can’t wait to come back with my boyfriend for some food & drink.

Get to the Chase: Pros: 1) After having come here last time, my expectations were high, but sadly this place did not meet the same standards. The food I realized wasn’t as amazing or unique as I once thought. 2) Very cheaply made dishes with small iddy biddy portions. The flavors aren’t delightful nor satisfying. Octopus was tough, mash potatoes were runny with no volume, the squid ink was goopy and thick like someone took a giant… kerplop. Chorizo was very greasy and extremely oily. Sardines were from a can. 3) I agree with others, the lighting is way too dim. You need your phone to see the menu. Perhaps it’s so dark to hide how hideous the food is. Cons: 1) Sangria was still delicious 2) Staff is polite and courteous

Yay! I’m a fan. I always enjoy the food here, while I find the sangria good at best. The wine selection usually suits me well when I let the bartender choose for me. Service can be slow as both nights recently that I’ve been in there, only one person was working both of the 2 separated bars. I do like that they leave you alone when you want to be left alone and I have never felt like I was being pushed out, even with a 3 best friend reunion going on for hours. The croquettes are amazing as are the mini sandwiches.

«This is a very small place» is the first thought that came to my mind when I entered. I did read Unilocal reviews prior to going there. I ordered two items: chicken skewers(did not taste like chicken) and some sandwich thing(that was kinda huge) while waiting for my date to arrive. I tried the sangria(both red and white) and they were ok. The mojito was LAME! The layout is just very strange. There are two bar areas and initially the female bartender was literally running back and forth. Eventually another one came by but they were still working their asses off. I went on wednesday night so they had the flamenco dancers. Luckily I had a decent seat so I could see but the arrangement of the place makes it hard to get a good view. I sat by the 2nd(inner) bar btw.

Ate: meatballs, gambas, salad, chicken skewers Drank: way too much. margaritas, wine, beer all chased with Maker’s Liked: Waiter was friendly and helpful despite being overworked. Disliked: A little too dark for me. Chicken: skewers Would mom like it?: Yes, but she wouldn’t want to pay Wait: None Would I go back: Yes, mainly because it’s a good location and not too pretentious. Recommend: meatballs were great. Sitting at the bar was better than I thought it would be.(It’s almost all bar stool seating so didn’t matter anyways)

N is a great place, right off of Broadway. The place is small and intimate, so it is really a hit or miss if you get a table or not. My girlfriend and I ended up sitting at the bar in the back and had a good time. We consumed 2 pitchers of Sangria. A pitcher of red sangria was only $ 24 bucks, so the price was not too bad at all for the area. The sangria was also delicious, and my girlfriend usually hates red wine based drinks, so N is doing something right. I can sup up my thoughts on the food in one sentence: «Never in my life would I have imagined that I would eat meatballs in a squid ink sauce and like it». All the food is good, we ordered 4 things and each was great. The server /bartender did seem a bit overwhelmed with the crowd. As a result, service was kind of slow to refill drinks, etc. Besides that, this is a good place to bring a group of friends or a date.

This is the worst(and most bizarre) experience I have ever had in any NYC establishment. The first time here(about a year ago) was good, but this time was a nightmare. My friend was in town from London and we made a reservation for 5 on a Sunday night. When we got there, we sat at a table in the front. The place was dead– maybe 4 people total. A few more friends than expected showed up and we wound up with 9 total. When I went to pull an extra stool form the bar(which was empty), the bartender had a full-blown psychotic episode. She was skinny and had her hair pulled back. She said we made a reservation for 5 and now we have 9 and were not getting enough drinks(although we had already ordered a few drinks and food). I went back to the table, as everyone was watching the bartender lose it and told them what happened. We all decided to leave, but the person that made the reservation then went to speak with her in a very apologetic way. She went off on him too and started screaming that she would rather wipe the tab and have us leave. Keep in mind, we are all professionals in our upper 20’s and by no way did anything to instigate this– it was a very laid back night. The upside is we didn’t pay for what we had already eaten/drank. The down side is that it put a huge damper on the night(although we found a great place nearby). I rarely write reviews, but this is a special exception. Stay away form this place! The woman that works there needs help.

At first when I squeezed into this teeny, tiny venue I was a little put off. But then, I geared up patience to move through the crowd and make my way into the back. I keep walking, past the bar loaded with happy people and great look Sangria,…past the small spot light which would later host 1 – 2 spanish dancers and live music,…past the few tables in the back giving off the smell of some tasty rabbit tapas(allegedly the best in the city)…and into a back room, almost empty with a whole other bar. The bar tender, Tyrone, «Not Black… I’m Aussie» is what he’ll introduce himself as, was hospitable and entertaining. I very much enjoyed this eclectic little hideaway. After a pitcher of white sangria and a few tapas, I was a happy camper. The live music was a great touch too. Wednesda yis Flamenco dancing night, just FYI! Get there before 8pm

Love. It’s nondescript store front so it’s not somewhere I would go into if just walking by. You open the door, and theres a velvety curtain, causing me to question if I’m in the right place. Past the curtain is a dark slim restaurant with candles and people perched up at the bar or at tall tables. We snagged a spot at the bar and just ordered what the bartender recommended. Also got two glasses of sangria which were mediocre. The food was all good, but nothing spectacular. I love the dark cozy feeling of and how it’s not a touristy destination, that the people are real and is an escape after shopping in SoHo or after work.

It’s dark. It’s not too crowded. You feel sexy. Drinks are good, and there are private booths in the back if you are so inclined. Candles. Recipe for… fill in the blank ;) LOL this is also a good place for a small group of friends to catch up if you’ve already got your sexy time locked down.

You are sexy. Dark and mysterious. Seduction is your game. Romantic candles alit. Curtained off harem… Sangrias, the perfect aprhodisiac. Sensuous and beautiful waitstaff. Slinky, tight and cozy space. Take me home already.

Like this place. Even though the tapas are a bit pricey for the quantity they bring you, the quality is up there. They have a decent selection of drinks and the ambiance is sexy and trendy… perfect for a date. I wouldn’t go with a group here, as the place is narrow and it gets packed especially during live music evenings. What makes this place a real value is the free live flamenco on Wednesdays and the free Cuban Salsa on Sundays. I really had a good time, especially with the salsa. Recommended.

This place tucked away on a quiet street. Love the ambiance and the variation of seating options. You can sit at the bar(s), high tables in between the bars(if you’re lucky), or tables in the back. I appreciated that the servers allowed us to freely move when we wanted to expand our party. The sangria is delicious, one of the best I’ve ever had, probably because I’m not a huge fan of red wine and this was not dry at all. The pitcher is definitely the most economical choice. It’s perfect to split among three people. We loved the Tortilla and found the octopus(half with paprika and half with chocolate) to be really interesting! I was most intrigued by the idea of chocolate on octopus, but the chocolate dusting was so subtle(a little too subtle) that even after asking for additional sprinkles of the powder, it was hard to notice its flavor. N was perfect for us, as we wanted to catch up with old friends and weren’t in the mood to eat very much. To have the option of sharing small plates is wonderful! The lighting is pretty dark in the front and a little brighter in the back. It’s pretty romantic.

1 star for my snooty bartender that I had on my «pilgrimage» downtown to Ground Zero on 9⁄11 eve, on Fashion Nite, when I couldn’t get a cab. I sought refuge in here, and the bartender was just plain rude. The place is still cool, but they need to rethink customer service.

For food and drink? 2.5 stars. But they get 5 stars because strangely, that’s not the point of this place. The point is: Flamenco show every Weds, 8 — 10pm! A pitcher of sangria(6 – 7 glasses) is $ 24; don’t care, it’s pricey. We got 4 tapas and 2 pitchers, total was around $ 85. Ouch! But it was fun and relaxing. Bar chairs not the comfiest. The tapas list is short, lacking even some classics. Each round you order comes with a small stack of charred(cold) bread, which helps because the portions are teeeeny tiny. Tortilla was average, croquetas were three miniscule pieces. Chorizo was nice and super spicy. Pan con tomate was great. Crowdedness: got there Weds night around 7:15. The back bar was still empty, though the tables and front bar were mostly filled. We began to hear very loud clackety-clacking about 8:15– flamenco! Very fun and casual, cool to watch; they took frequent breaks so it’s not continuous. Someone had a little baby there and the dancer smiled and played with the baby when she wasn’t dancing. The exact location of the flamenco«area» is a random bench after the first bar and two tables. So if you’re sitting at the back bar, you’re not gonna see too much. We were told those front tables were reserved for parties of 3+, oh well. There is a curtained booth in the back reserved for larger parties. On a non-flamenco night, I can see it being a lot of fun with friends, hiding in your own little space. On Wednesday nights(many people don’t even seem to be watching), no one seemed to notice that there is another area of seating space in the back and to the right! It was totally empty. The bathroom doors have two-way mirrors. Kinky.

One of the worst tapas I’ve tried in the city! Although the bar itself is beautiful and romantic, it’s such a shame that the quality of the food sucks this bad! Que pena! I completely agree with Peter D., here’s my version: The Good: 1) ambiance — As Peter D. stated, it’s dark and sexy. I give 4.5 stars for the great atmosphere. The place is super small, so you need to come early. 2)Sangria — both white and red are good! 3)Crema Catalana con gas –This fizzy and frothy crema catalana served in a martini glass was a pleasant surprise! Very creative and interesting! 4)Pan con tomate — 3.5 stars The Bad: 1)Pulpo — Octopus was so dry and was marinated in some weird mashed potato-esque cream. I prefer more purist style with just olive oil, salt, and paprika. 1.5 stars 2)Gambas — 3 stars. It was definitely better than pulpo! 3)Spicy Chorizo — 2.5 stars. Not bad, but just acceptable. It was a bit dry. 4)Pinchos — 3 stars. They were decent, but didn’t blow me away. The sauce was mediocre, but this was one of the better tapas here. The Ugly: 1) Tortilla Española: One of the worst ones I’ve ever had. So dry and so bland! Es horrorosa! 2) Lomo de conejo contento — «The Best Bunny Loin in the City»??? Are you kidding me??? I felt ripped off paying $ 10 for these pathetic tiny bites of tasteless bunny meat. Sabe a conejo triste! 3) We ended up going to Caracas to eat arepas after our dinner at Ñ. In summery: Come here for drinks only. Skip the tapas!

The Good. –The place itself: Dark and sexy; I could easily make out with your girlfriend in the back without anyone raising an eyebrow. And it’s off the beaten path, so it’s unlikely you’d find us. –The sangria: Tasted pretty good, and at $ 24 per pitcher, it could be much worse. –The Black Pearls: Meatballs in a squid ink sauce. Interesting, and pretty tasty, despite looking like tar. The Bad. –The shrimp: basically shrimp scampi, but extremely bland. The bread dipped in the sauce was better than the shrimp themselves. –The chorizo: decent flavor, but extremely dry. Definitely not grilled fresh. –The mushroom… thing. I ate one bite and didn’t want the rest. –The«Best Bunny Loin in the City»: This was simply untrue. It was $ 10 for 3 tiny bites, all of which were dry. The«aioli» was essentially just mayo. –I realize this is an inane thing to complain about, but the name is impractical. Whenever you try and ask someone to meet you there, you have to explain the name. And although searching for«N» on Unilocal will yield you this place, you better have the actual«Ñ» with the symbol if you’re searching the larger internets. The Ugly. –Any meal after which I go buy some dumplings.
