Went there for breakfast. Too many things wrong to write about in this post. Waitstaff was very friendly and apologetic. Highly not recommended!!!

Trying to like this place. Great location, great burgers. But the atmosphere is terrible, there isn’t enough TVs and only one Keno monitor. And for some reason, having the heat on is not a priority.

The Blademeat sandwich was great! Closest to NC bbq I’ve found up this way. Fun atmosphere! Some very accomplished bar singers there.

Awful. Sticky floors, horrible seating in the«bar» section, very sparse and open. Our table was sticky, the stools were hard as a rock with no where to rest your feet/legs… The chicken chicken finger appetizer was so stringy it felt like dental floss was baked in and tasted like they fried them in the left over fish oil. No napkins, no frosted glasses offered, the«restaurant» part is a small hallway partitioned off by glass and feels like an afterthought. Spent ten bucks on the jukebox only to have the bartender turn the volume down so low that we couldn’t hear it at all. She complained the whole time we were there, she should get a job somewhere else because she is not doing the company any favors. Spent $ 14 and left. Will never go back again. BAD.

Friday night. Grand opening. Kind of weird that the«restaurant» is in its private enclosed office complete with glass partitions. But wth, We had clam cakes– good, corn chowder good, the fish and chips– no good, soggy, not a good batter. Steak tips, ok, cooked well, not enough time marinading as I could barely taste the bourbon, onion rings had no flavor. The waitress was pleasant, but did not ask us how our meal was until she handed us the check. When we told her what was wrong with the meal she said«oh you should have told me earlier» like that’s our job to flag you down?! So as another waitress dropped off the food to the adjacent table she asked if we wanted a box, so we told her how we thought the fried fish had no flavor. I then told her that I was a chef for 10 years and I could tell that the flour had no seasoning. She proceeded to tell me that they had been«in business for 39 years and the batter has never changed». She then told our waitress to take it off our bill, leaving us assuming that she was the manager on, and she did not respect us otherwise she would have introduced herself as such. In any case, if you want limp, soggy, fish snd chips go here. If you want crisp hot and seasoned fish and chips, check out the tavern in Wrentham, where we went for dinner #2!

The food is fantastic and the waitresses and bar tenders are very friendly! Love the new location on the water much better than the old place!

I have one word to describe Tavern 33: awful. The bar itself is drab, outdated, poorly lit, and frankly, kind of gross. We were seated in a back room, at a rickety, sticky table, next to a service station piled-high with dirty dishes. The service was the pits. The servers were rushed and flustered(when we could actually get their attention), and while they weren’t necessarily rude, I would not call them friendly. The food was horrible! The«stuffed quahogs» for appetizers were not at all. It was buttery breading with absolutely no clam-meat(or vegetables, or chorizo, or spices) served in a scallop shell(yes, a scallop shell!), that was clearly frozen just before it was nuked. All of our other meals(4 guests total) — which were of the seafood variety(which is basically all you could get) — were dripping with grease, tasting only of oil, and flavorless — and the seafood itself was rubbery and overcooked. Even the fries were nasty. Oh, and fries was all you could get because they were out of mashed potatoes, baked potatoes AND rice! On a Friday night! I didn’t even finish my meal — I was gagging between my first few bites and trying to flag down the waitress so we could get out of there. If this is supposed to be advertisement for Norm’s Seafood, they should definitely reconsider. On top of all that, the soda was flat. Come on! I cannot remember the last time I had such a terrible meal and experience. I know this place has changed names(and management) many times over the past few years, and I don’t expect Tavern 33 will have any sustainability either. Just YUCK.

I have been wanting to try this place out since they moved to the new location. Came here for dinner(big mistake) on a Monday night. The waitress was very nice, and sat us at a high top table in the bar. Lots of space, only 4 tables. I asked for the drink menu, and was told there isn’t one. I asked what the seasonal beers were, and was told they had none. Asked what was on draft, and she had to leave to go check what was available. Went with the waitresses suggestion, after informing us that half the draft beers were kicked. Waitress was very nice, but didn’t seem to know much. The food menu was another story. Probably 10 things on the menu. I’m honestly not trying to sound rude, but I could have created more food options from my fridge as a broke college student than what was on this menu. I ordered a veggie wrap, and my bf ordered a chicken wrap. My wrap consisted of a tortilla, white lettuce, pepper and mushroom. No cheese, no sauce. The chicken wrap had chicken and lettuce, again no cheese no sauce. I couldn’t eat it. Would not come back here for food, ever again. Should be advertised as a bar only.

Great local bar(used to be Sportsway Café, they have moved up the street to a much larger place with lots of parking. I like the fact that they moved away from the plaza and they serve their own food. Staff is awesome, they have all kinds of entertainment, drink prices very reasonable.

Was the Sportsway Café — Now Tavern 33. The place is a typical dive bar. It has a stage, it has a bar with decent, reasonably cheap beer, it even gets good bands on occasion — Like Aaron Norcross Jr. on the night I visited. It just didn’t get a crowd aware of good music, or much of a crowd at all. Those there were more interested UFC than one of best blues players in this area. I would have thought that Wheaton students would have frequented this place since there are really no other bars in walking distance … but not this Saturday night. I think they get their food from the pizza place next door. I’d stick to the beer.
