I though the sushi was pretty darn good, I ordered some salmon, yellowtail, and a scallop handroll. We had ordered some mussels as an appetizer but it didn’t come until after we were full from our meal, uhoh! We were pretty annoyed about that, so I asked the waiter to remove it from our bill and he did, thankfully. Other than that, the food is good, and I’d come back again but probably not order an appetizer.

I don’t even know how this place is in business. I decided to make a quick stop for a lunch combo of some sort and man was I disappointed. Some of the worst sushi I have ever had. The quality of the fish was just terrible and had not even been cut well. Needless to say I will not be returning.

Came in for some sushi and some quick drinks. Kyoto has a happy hour that goes until 6pm Monday through Friday, my party and I arrived at 5:40 and was served drinks then our server completely ignored us until after 6pm so we would not receive the 30% discount on food. I usually don’t make negative reviews like this but the restaurant was empty and I tried to wave the server down multiple times to place a food order and it was obvious she was waiting until the discount would be over. Didn’t even end up ordering food, just paid out the drinks and left. Definitely would never come back.

Sushi chef was extremely rude, service was horrible, they also don’t let you order more then one item at a time while you have a one hour limit. No time to get what you want. Ridiculous!

Just as soon as we walked in it felt very awkward their was four people sitting in a table and then all eyes on us .we decided to sit in the bar and the chef asked me and my boyfriend something and we didn’t understand we didn’t want to be rude and asked again what he had said but no clue. The waitress/hostess asked what are drinks were and we told her right away as me and my boyfriend discussed what we wanted to eat(this is our first time their) the waitress/hostess didn’t leave after she asked Us what we wanted to drink and then started screaming HELLOHELLO! Interrupting me and my boyfriend ITWASEXTREMELYRUDE .we asked for a second to know what we where going to order then the chef and waitress/hostess just kept staring we decided to just leave when the waitress/hostess brought our drinks we just told her we were going to leave to give us the check and right away the waitress that cleans the table was just standing behind us starring us down until we left HORRIBLEHORRIBLE Experience uhh my personal opinion I don’t recommend you eat their unless you like to get rushed to eat even with an empty restaurant Their logo should be HURRYUPANDEAT

I love eating here but yesterday I looked online and found that you can have all you can eat from 2:30 — 5:30 for 20 $ on their website for happy hour. They charged me for the dinner price even thought I went from 4 – 5 and said that they have not had this happy hour for a few months. This made me very angry because if they advertise it then they should go along with the offer they advertise. I will no longer be going here! The waitress was very rude about the situation

Ok, Kyoto is great! Especially when u sit at the all u can eat bar… Isaac is one of the chefs there and I mostly go when he’s there. He’s really good at making the sushi and it’s always fresh. I love coming here. It’s such a good atmosphere. The waiters and waitresses are really sweet too.

This ayce sushi place isn’t that great compared to Midori. But when my sister and I walked in, this rude sushi chef gave us an attitude. Keep in mind, we are paying customers. I ordered a spicy scallop hand roll and then he gives me a spicy salmon hand roll. So either he needs to remove all the wax from his ears so he can hear what his customers asked for or he can repeat it so he can place the correct order. I also ordered a crunch roll and he put too much eel sauce which made my roll taste too salty. But then he opens his mouth and ask us what ethnicity we are. My sister replied, «Vietnamese». He decides to open his mouth and say, «You’re too fat to be Vietnamese. Vietnamese girls are skinny.» I told him that was rude and he should say sorry. He said it unapologetically and called me mean. WTF, how am I mean if you’re being racist?

I like this sushi place, I’ve been to a few in northridge and this is one of the better ones. I really like how they have the choice of buffet or ordering from the menu and they have good prices, about $ 10-$ 13 depending on what you order. The popcorn lobster is really amazing and a huge portion for the low price. I split this and one more roll with my boyfriend and it’s usually more than enough food! Love this place!

I’m not saying that their food is bad. I wasn’t just impressed with my dynamite roll, something missing. Good thing was the Spicy crab hand roll, the seafood taste was there, it scattered into my mouth, super tasty!

I am a sushi LOVER and definitely not a picky eater. My sister took me to Kyoto for my birthday. We drove all the way from Pasadena to come here. We seated ourselves at the bar for AYCE sushi. At first, there were only 4 people including ourselves. The sushi chef was friendly, but it was hard to understand his English(and I’m Chinese). In the beginning, he was popping out our rolls very quickly. But then 4 more people came in all at once and I felt terrible that he was the only chef working. He was taking orders left and right and trying to keep up. I felt bad whenever I ordered more. All of the rolls were delicious. We had the Boyfriend, Bstar, and Boss roll. Warning, the Boyfriend has an unprecedented Wasabi kick to it! Twenty minutes into our meal, we realized that the small print says it is a one hour time limit. The hostess came by to tell me that I could not put my purse on the empty seat next to me and then dropped off the check without us asking or without saying the normal«please take your time». I began to feel rushed because she was wanting to take away our finished sushi dishes even if they still had sushi on it… I got super full really fast, but I still wanted to try more from their vast selection. I asked the sushi chef if I was able to order half a sushi roll(4 pieces) instead of 8, and he said no. My sister also asked if we could have our sashimi with less rice and he said no… We didn’t remember exactly what time we sat down, but I remembered ordering our first roll around 3:15,do we assumed our hour was up at that time. My sister wanted one last order of salmon before we hit the long trafficky road for home, but right when she was about to order her last salmon– the rude hostess reached between us and literally took all our dishes without asking. I said«well I guess we’re done»…my sister replied with… I guess so? The hostess just stared at me(within my personal space bubble) when I said I guess we’re done. And then stared at us until we got up to leave. Service was a 1 star, but luckily their rolls were delicious. However, I’ve tasted fresher salmon.

Delicious food and a nice environment inside. My boyfriend and I went in for a late dinner and the staff was attentive and the food arrived at our table in a timely manner. Their seaweed salad and sushi rolls were very tasty, nothing super spectacular but not bad by any means either. Prices were about mid-range compared to other places I’ve been to; we ordered 5 rolls, 2 inari pieces, a seaweed salad and drinks. Came out to around $ 70 with a tip. I wish the tea came in a pot on the table but I can’t really complain. I’ll definitely be coming back again for sushi in the future.

Talk about AYCE sushi. This is the spot. It dominates Midori, it blows Light and Healthy on Ventura out of the water, its at a different level from Sushi Ko, this is where you want to go. The food is delicious. People think because its AYCE quality goes down… absolutely not. Quantity and quality here are parallel. The sushi is great, love the salmon, albacore and halibut. Nothing beats their spicy scallop hand roll, and their spicy albacore handroll is stuffed and delicious. The ace roll is amazing with that good crunch in the middle. The new summer rolls are bright and fresh and make you feel like summer. The Lion roll is awesome, and I can go on and on but Ill just be repetitive about the goodness. Location– Prime location on reseda and devonshire inside the La fitness parking lot. Parking is plentiful no problem at all. Alot of seating around the bar and a good amount of tables inside. The staff is cool, the chefs are hilarious, the waitress have gotten better than last time, younger, nicer, trendier. A good spot to go with friends and feast.

My first impression of Kyoto Sushi was: wow, the workers don’t seem happy at all. My boyfriend and I were here at noon on a Saturday. In the whole store, there were only two other customers, and they were on their way out. We were the only two customers for our whole meal. The sushi chef neither smiled or made any conversation with us, despite our attempt. He also kept disappearing on us or watching the soccer game idly, an sighed when we weren’t finished with our food. Maybe it was a bad day for him. However, his attitude put a damper on our little occasion. There was another lady collecting the finished dishes. She seemed unwelcoming as well. She frequently reached over right in front of us to get to a plate, with no warning. Kind of reached in front of us, while mumbling, «Sorry~.» I felt that was kind of rude. I’ve been to other AYCE sushi shops with the same(or lower) price, with much more caring servers and sushi chefs and better quality sushi. Bad service also makes food taste bad as well. I don’t see myself coming here again.

I forgot to write my review on this place the other night and to take a picture of my sushi I picked up late night but here it goes. I promise to take a picture though next time because I will be back! I stopped in here late night right before it was about to close to order some sushi to go. The hostess was very friendly and patient with me as I explained that this was my first time there. Everything looked good and it was hard to decide so I went with a couple of easy classics just to test the place out… my tried and true California roll and spicy tuna. The food came out pretty quickly and the hostess couldn’t of been more friendly. I waited to get home to open my order and boy was I surprised! These pieces were humongous and very good! Not to mention they didn’t skimp on the soy sauce, wasabi and ginger! It was a home run and not too pricey either for the amount of food you get. I definitely recommend this place if you’re ever in the area and I can’t wait to throw down in this place one afternoon with friends when I have more time next time.

More like 3.5 stars. Came here for dinner on New Years day to start the new year with a full belly. No such thing as a new years diet resolution for me. $ 25 + tax for all you can eat and you must sit at the bar. If you can eat more than 2.5 rolls or a lot of sashimi, it’s worth it to go for AYCE. You have one hour. For AYCE, you can order any of their appetizers(miso soup, mussels, salad), sashimi over rice(max two pieces), and an extensive special roll menu. Some friends got miso soup and mussels as appetizers which they liked. For the sashimi, I liked the salmon, yellowtail, uni, and albacore. I wasn’t a fan of the tuna because it didn’t taste very fresh. As for the rolls, from what I remember, I liked the house special and honey roll. I didn’t like the soft shell crab roll. I thought the special rolls were a bit skimpy on the fish. Most of the fish was relatively fresh, and they didn’t give too much rice with the sashimi orders. Servers were quick and friendly. The two sushi chefs were entertaining engaging in friendly banter with their customers. They were definitely busy turning out the sushi and rolls as fast as they could with a full bar of hungry patrons and people waiting to get seated. A small restaurant located in a lot with a Smart and Final so plenty of ample parking spaces.
