Franco IS amazing and when he’s working this is the best place on the boardwalk. Ask if he’s making pies and if not, keep walking. There’s a new owner this summer who always pulls out day-old pizzas and pastries from the back when you order one. He also skimps on all the ingredients, and rudely asked us «can I HELP you?» several times just for making eye contact with the ice cream. Each time, we’d politely said no and that we were waiting on pizza, but that didn’t stop him from glaring. His refusal to stop penny pinching was enough to drive Franco out of co-ownership. This may be Franco’s last summer at this joint unless the management changes, which is a shame.

Awesome pizza, probably the best on the boardwalk. Best sauce on a pizza that I’ve tasted in a while. Definitely worth making a trip up towards the northern part of the boardwalk to taste what they’ve got going on… and the size of their slices compared to other joints is a value in itself. Before leaving town I also hit this place up for some morning grub since one of the workers were saying the fresh apple fritters are a must. I ended up getting a vanilla crème hot out of the fryer and an apple fritter. These guys don’t go cheap on their cream filled(unlike dunkin’ donuts and store brand cream filled where there’s hardly any filling inside the doughnut) and the apple fritter was crazy good. Definitely one of those things you have to try before leaving the ‘woods. Tip: Get there between 7am-8am if you’re not hungover and grab a fresh one. Also someone next to me had a monster sized breakfast burrito. Thing was huge. Maybe next year.

I second that review– the donuts are the best I have had in recent memory, or as far back as I recall for that matter. Apple fritters were also delicious. Made me daydream about how many I could eat in 1 day, since I was feeling tempted to try(hey, it is vacation). Super fresh donuts, and even the icing was rich and special.
